Infinity Island - League of Shadows Stronghold
6:17 PM
"We will be prepared for when the time comes", Ra's replied before ending the call. With Lex placated, Ra's fingers began typing commands into the control console, causing a wealth of information to be displayed right in front of him. The Light's new scheme was ambitious, and Ra's himself had ano important role to play. Paying little attention to the information flickering in front of him, Ra's began thinking of ways to handle the monumental task that had been assigned to him. An idea crossed his mind that brought a smile to his lips. The Detective was certainly paranoid enough.
A Shadow appeared in the doorway. "Master, Cheshire has returned from her mission. Shall I bring her to you?"
Ra's turned off the monitor and shook his head. He knew exactly where Chesire would be heading, and could meet her there. "No need. You are dismissed". The Shadow bowed and took his leave.
The last target he had sent Chesire after had been the wealthy oil tycoon responsible for the latest oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. While Ra's sources had already informed him of the target's death, he still harboured doubts about Chesire, especially where loyalty was concerned. He knew she was only working for him in exchange for the information he had provided her years prior, which was more reason than enough to doubt her loyalties. Another reason was the presence of her hero husband, Red Arrow, who had interfered with several of her most recent missions. The reason Ra's was unwilling to trust Chesire with any important or noteworthy missions was because of his doubt in her ability to complete the mission, as well as her divided loyalties. The last time he had spoken to her, Ra's had ordered her to prevent Red Arrow from sabotaging her mission. Today, he wanted to ensure that she had obeyed his orders.
Of course, Ra's always had more than one agenda. Soon Chesire's debt to him would be paid, allowing her to leave his service if she wanted. Ra's would rather Chesire stayed, and over the course of their impending conversation, Ra's hoped to to convince her to leave her family behind, and move permanently to Infinity Island.
Exiting his inner sanctum, Ra's began walking through the training halls and hallways of the Sbadows' Stronghold. Most of the Shadows were enduring intense training exercises, and Ra's did nothing to interupt them. He took his time walking through the walls, allowing himself to form any argument and counter-argument in his mind, preparing himself for the important conversation to come ahead. Besides, he was in no hurry, he had all the time in the world.
