When Tim took off with a 'race you there' Barabra called back You're on!" As she flipped her own visor down and released her stand, zooming off behind him and out of the cave entrance. She was lagging a little behind since Mr. Hot Shot had gotten off at a early start but Barbara reved back on her accelerator and shot in front of Tim, weaving a little from side to side to stop him from going around her. Too slow bird boy Barbara spoke into the built in communicator in her helmet, turning to look back at Tim. As she looked away from the road Barbara lost sight of what was in front of her until she heard someone lay on a car horn. Quickly her head snapped back and she swerved out of the way of a oncoming van, bringing her bike to a stop before she lost control.
Well, that was stupid and her little attempt to show off had cost her the lead in their little race but...she was still standing and her bike still running so that counted for something. Shaking it off Barbara started her bike once more and continued on toward the GCPD station, letting Tim take and keep the lead the rest of the way there.

Tim would sigh underneath his motorcycle helmet as Barbara had sped past him. He thought that little head start would be the difference in reaching the GCPD building first. That was clearly not the case, but fortunately Barbara didn’t seem to be the most graceful competitor when she took hold of the lead. A lack of focus, a spark of over confidence had proved unjust. As Barbara’s diverted attention on Tim had taken her ‘eyes off the prize’, resulting in Tim speeding past her once she had come to a stop. Tim felt a little relieved, justice! …ha! As he rode off into the distance, he raised a hand and waved; not looking back – he wasn’t going to let this lead go now.
Tim had both handlebars gripped again, his focus solely on the road ahead. But as they got closer towards the GCPD building’s location, speed needed to be reduced. There were a lot of people around, police, newscasters, all of them looking to be the first to break any news of an update regarding the Zsasz situation. “We need a stealthier approach, Barb”. Tim would say through his helmet’s communicator. If anyone knew of a stealthier way into the building, it was Barbara… and maybe Bruce.

"Agreed" Barbara replied once she had gotten back on the road and was nearing the station. They couldn't just roll up on their bikes in front of all the news and bystanders. It would cause a scene and perhaps make Zsasz act rashly if he knew they were there. No, the best way to handle this was to be quick and silent. A few blocks south of the station is a liquor store. If we park in the alley there and climb the fire escape we can reach the roof of the station from the back, undetected. As far as she knew it was one of the same paths Bruce used, or had used and it was the same one she used whenever she needed to slip in and out without her dad catching her.
Once they made it to the roof it would be a quick shimmy down one of the ventilation shafts that would bring them right into the station and if they used the vents as a highway essentially they would get to the entire station and find out just where exactly Zsasz was holding everyone. Easier said than done but it would do the trick without getting anyone hurt in the process..at least she hoped. There was always that chance something could go wrong but thankfully, those chances hardly ever happened.

Barbara was right – and that’s not something that you will ever hear Tim say out loud that often. They needed to remain undetected, from all. Walking through the front door would only prove disastrous, and show them to be tactically inept. They didn’t need the crowd catching a glimpse of them entering, firing them up like this was some magic show, nor did they need Zsasz on the lookout for them either. It could put the lives of those being held against their will in the GCOD building at risk, a risk they weren’t prepared to take.
Hopefully Barbara was correct about the way in. Tim didn’t know for sure, he had only ever snuck into the GCPD building a handful of times, and most of those times Tim was simply trying to avoid doing anything wrong whilst in the presence of Batman. Coming to a halt down the alley as Barbara had instructed, Tim switched the motor off and put up the kickstand of the bike. He’d dismount here, and then proceed to remove his helmet; placing it on the backseat of the bike. “Barb, you here?”. Tim then whispered, looking about the alley way. He wasn’t sure if she was already here, whether or not she had gone ahead or whether she found a better spot in the alley for the bikes. Either way, Tim was going to remain quiet.

Barbara pulled up a minute or so after Tim had, her little stunt earlier with nearly running head on into a car had lost her a bit of time but she drove up and parked her bike next to his, turning off the ignition and pulling her helmet off. Ready? She asked once she dismounted her bike. Truth be told Barbara was feeling a little nervous about this. It was something she had done a 100 times and going up against Zsasz was nothing new either but whenever her dad was directly involved when she was there it made her nervous. What if she did something familiar, what if tonight was the night that he would recognize her?
What if he already knew?
There had been a few close calls when she was younger, Jim had almost caught her sneaking back in to her room one night and once she was old enough Barbara jumped at the chance to get her own place mostly for that reason, she didn't want to see the look on her dads face if he ever managed to find out.
But, that was neither here nor there right now. The first thing at the moment was getting inside and getting Zsasz secure, once he was neutralized and the hostages taken care of then she could worry about trivial things like that. As soon as Tim gave the go ahead Barbara walked over to where a fire escape was on the side of a building and jumped up, her arms grabbing the bottom rung of the metal ladder a few feet above them and she pulled herself up to grab the next rung until she was able to climb up to the roof of the building. Once up there Barbara walked to the edge and looked across over to where the station was. She could see the tail end of a mass of gathered people that had come to witness the event but thankfully most of them were all closer to the front of the building and behind a police barrier. They just had a few officers stationed at the back of the building to slip past. Should be easy enough once Tim made it up here.

It were times like these that Tim often found himself setting into the role that he had been so very accustom to. Whilst Tim had some experience in taking the lead, with Batman and others believing that he would become a ‘leader’ eventually. Tim still had a wealth of experience playing the ‘sidekick’ role, a role he didn’t envision himself taking on tonight, but one he found himself in. This was Barbara’s turf, in a non-illegal hero kind of way. It was she who knew the layout of the place, and therefore the one who would be taking point on this one to come up with a plan to stop Zsasz.
As Barbara ascended up the fire escape, Tim would take a few steps closer towards the ladder which hung several feet up off the ground. A slight jump as Tim leapt up high enough to grab the sides of the ladder, mustering up enough strength to gradually pull himself up. Things became much easier when he could place his feet down on the bottom rung, as the climb then on become much simpler and less energy draining. Eventually Tim reached the roof and walked over towards where Barbara was stood, stood beside her as he glanced over the GCPD building across. It seems as though the indirect route would prove to be the correct decision, entering through the front would’ve been pointless. More so on a night like Halloween, when the police would probably think they were just two kids playing dress up, sheesh. “Right behind you, Barb”. Something of a reassuring tone in Tim’s voice as he spoke. Next would come the stealth part, and Tim planned on following Barbara like a shadow …so long as she doesn’t disappear in the blink of an eye, like a certain someone does…

Barbara took a moment to study the path ahead of them and converted it to memory, they had to be quick but they also had to be precise and know their route because any mistake could take away their element of surprise. When Tim came up next to her and told her that he was ready Barbara took one last look at the path "Let's go" Once the words left her mouth Barbara jumped up to the ledge around the roof before leaping across to the adjoining roof and then again and again, hopping and running across the rooftops, getting closer and closer to their destination.
Soon however the duo ran out of roof space and the red head removed a grappling gun from her belt and aimed it at the GCPD building across from her. The hook shot out and over toward the top of the building where the batsignal was held and once she had a good grip on something she umped from the roof she was on and glided across to the GCPD. Pressing a button to help elevate her up toward their entrance.

Subtle at times, there were some differences that Tim had noticed when partnering with one of Bruce, Dick or Barbara. With all, he found himself taking on the sidekick role which suited him just fine – it was less pressure, certainly, which is all good in Tim’s book. In this scenario that Tim and Barbara find themselves in now. With Dick, there would be a level of competitiveness to go along with it, an air of showing off about how quickly the desired location was reached. With Bruce, nothing would be said. But there would be a certain level of expectancy to simply keep up, and even when you did there was no chance of hearing; ‘Good job!’ or ‘Well done!’. With Barbara things were certainly less intense, there was competition at times but so long as Tim did his best then anything else didn’t matter – lovely change of pace to proceedings.
Tim had watched Barbara go for a few moments, watching her movement and technique. Not only that, but Tim felt as though Barbara wouldn’t be fond of having him breathing down her neck whilst keeping up. Once Barbara had reached the second roof, then Tim would make his move. He backed away a few yards, and then proceeded to take a run up to the ledge of the roof, spring off of it with a jump to the roof across. He made it just fine, landing with a roll back up a vertical base as he then could continue his sprint. He did this again, and again, managing to traverse across each rooftop just the same. The GCPD building was now the building across from them now, but it certainly towered above the roof they were stood on. Tim didn’t even take out his grapple hook until Barbara had left the rooftop. Once he had taken it out, Tim aimed up nearby to where Barbara fired her grapple hook. He fired his, and it shot through the air to grab hold a good grip on something up there. Tim would then zip line up to where the hook had caught onto something – despite how often this gadget was used, nothing prepared you for the burst of cold air that hits when you begin the ascent.

Dick Grayson sighed, driving into the city of Gotham as Nightwing. He was hoping that this night drive would pose as a distraction from all of his problems. It had been a rough week, and he didn't want to just sit around waiting for things to get better. It wasn't like things were going to change- Wally was dead. He had decided to make his weekend about the possibility of KF being alive, a choice in which he was now regretting. He drove faster, passing a nearby bank. By now, he only wished to find trouble. Fighting crime was a pretty good relief from any sadness that plagued him. Upon passing a few city shops, he noticed much commotion ahead of him. Parking at a nearby shop, Nightwing turned on his communication scanner, tuning it to the correct location, and listening intently. There was indeed trouble, but it wasn't the simple stuff he'd hoped for. People were in danger, and Officer Gordon was a hostage. Nightwing wasted no time flipping the scanner off, hitting the black top as fast as he could. He looked up at the nearest building, squinting under the street lights. A rooftop entrance was definitely not subtle, but it was just about his only option. He climbed the fire escape on the side of the building, quickly making his way to the desired roof. This was the GCPD building, this was where Zsasz had the hostages, this was where Officer Gordon was being held. He quieted his footsteps, the silence inside the building making him curious. He had been looking down, and had failed to notice the individuals before him. When he realized who they were, his mouth gaped open. "Robin...?" he said, trying to sound calm. "Batgirl?" He tried to think of something else to say, but there was nothing. This was going to be interesting.

As soon as the young bat duo was on the roof Barbara started making her way toward the vent that would provide them access to the building below them. Slipping her fingers into the gaps in the vent she curled them around to get a good grip before yanking back with force to pry the vent door free. It didn't want to come easily but eventually the rust gave way and their path was opened. Batgirl set the vent gate down next to the shaft and peered inside to see if their route was clear, she couldn't see any obstacles from here so she was going to go with it being all clear for now.
"Let's do this." She said behind her, figuring Tim would hear since he was close enough to her but there was another sound that caught her attention. Barbara's hands quickly went to her belt and she pulled out a batarang, the projectile expanding her hand hand as it extended to its full length, ready to throw. Maybe someone had seen them come up here, maybe it was a officer or maybe it was Zsasz. Either way, she didn't like being snuck up on. Quickly Batgirl turned with her hand raised, ready to throw her weapon just in case when she saw a familar but unexpected sight. "Nightwing?" She asked while lowering her hand, the question heavy in her voice. He was the last person she expected to see here, not that she wasn't glad to see him but still. Gotham was not his city anymore and he had made it clear that he wanted space from all of this.

Tim had waited a few yards behind Barbara, as he saw her move to bust open the door that was blocking their entry into the vent. A thought did go through his mind about asking Barbara if she wanted help with that, but upon further reflection it appeared to be a remark that he didn’t need to make. If there was one thing that Batman had made sure that they were all good at, it was opening and climbing through vents. But then you have to be good at it when so much time is spent lurking within one.
When Barbara’s attention was grabbed by the sound of someone else approaching, Tim would retrieve the Bo Staff handle from his belt. He gripped it tightly in his right hand, held back slightly as he waited to see who it was. Chances were it was a friendly of some sort, perhaps a police officer who had information for them. Tim thought it unlikely to be Zsasz, or someone hostile at all, really. Fortunately it wasn’t, but it was no Officer either. Dick Grayson – someone neither expected to have seen so soon. “Nice Halloween Costume”. Tim would say with a slight smirk, quite happy to see Nightwing, really. Sure, Dick had been distant as of late. But it was understandable, for Tim at least. “So are you… tagging along?”. Whilst Nightwing’s sudden return did offer up a couple of questions, and there were other formalities to go through with. But there was an urgent matter that they had to deal with first; Zsasz – and he’s not known for being the type who is willing to wait for anything or anyone. The reunion chit-chat could wait.

"I wouldn't say tagging." Nightwing attempted a smile in the direction of the younger member. In all honesty, Dick couldn't decide whether or not he was happy to see them. Part of him almost wanted to acknowledge that he had missed them, but that was one aspect of his mind that he no longer dealt with. It wasn't like he hated the life he was leading, it was great. Besides, life on his own was better. That's right, better. Plus, he didn't need the Team anymore, and they didn't need him. It was fine. Pushing those thoughts aside, he looked on to the task at hand. The vent had been opened, that was good. They could get inside, but what was the plan? What was their strategy? Sure, Dick had his own ideas, but interference was a force to be reckoned with, and he wasn't about to jump in there and get them all killed. It was better he give them at least some idea of how things would go down, that way they'd be prepared.
"Here's the deal," he said. "We need to get inside. Once we're there, we need to be as quiet as we can, and find out what Zsasz is up to. He wants something, and I don't think it's just another tally mark. Robin, I need you to head to the back of the building and find a way to get a few hostages out, without being noticed. Then, make your way to the north side of the building and wait for my signal. Once you see it, it's time to attack. Batgirl, you and I will take a more upfront approach. By the time we know what's going on, we'll be able to handle Zsasz from then on out. I need you to take the east side of the building, while I take the west. That way we can get a good perspective from either side, and we can strategize further from there. Everyone clear on the plan?"

While it was good to see him there were a few problems that arose now that he was here. Mainly that he thought he could just show up out of no where and try to run things. As Dick started explaining to them how he thought things were going to go Barbara raised a brow at him, this was not the time to get into a argument over who's lead to follow but she was not going to let him think he could just slide back in like that after his long absence. This wasn't The Team and this was her father and she was not going to let him get away with his attempt at pulling rank like that.
"Thanks for the backup but we have this covered." Barbara put some emphasis on the we while she motioned between Tim and herself. She was not going to let him try to pull rank like that, sometimes Dick needed a reminder of a few things namely that they had managed without him and that they could handle this just fine. "But like Robin said, if you want to tag along then lets go. " Barbara put her batarang back on her belt as she turned back toward the open vent and lifted herself up and inside and began to slip her way down the vent shaft.
It was a slow go but finally she was able to find her way into a empty office. Barbara opened the gate that was suspended above the room and silently dropped herself down to the floor. As soon as she touched down she quickly moved behind the cover of the desk and pulled out a thermal sensor. Pointing the sensor as the window that faced the open precient Barbara picked up on the heat signatures of the hostages inside. Ten red and yellow blobs were huddled in a circle around the room while one upright red and yellow figure paced back and forth. They needed to get Zsasz away from the hostages which meant they were going to need a distraction. Putting the thermal cam away Barbara waited for the boys to join her, they needed to plan.

It was never nice when someone decided to pull rank over you, and what made it worse was when that someone pulling rank is someone who hasn’t been around for a while. Dick left, but that didn’t mean that Gotham had gone quiet in his absence. It instead offered up new opportunities, new challenges for both Batgirl and Robin. Whether Dick has realized it or not, things had changed in Gotham, and the two Bat Family members he spoke instructions to were not as inexperienced as he may remember.
This mission was theirs, and they were fully capable of dealing with Zsasz and the hostages. If they weren’t, wouldn’t the Big Bat be out to play? As Dick ran down what he thought the plan should be, Tim couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the notion of Nightwing taking lead, then looking towards Batgirl as if to say; is this guy for real? Of course, Tim had massive respect for Nightwing – even if it didn’t seem like it right now. But Nightwing had come across a bit arrogant in his approach, Tim didn’t like that. A plan was already in place before he showed up. Sure, perhaps it could do with a few details being sorted out, but they could figure that out as they go.
Tim had waited and watched as Batgirl entered the now open vent first. A few moments passed, and once Tim believed that Batgirl had made it through did he enter. Moving through vents was never fun, and when you look to Batman it seemed apparent that they would continue entering and climbing through vents long into their respective super hero careers. Tim shuffled his way through, until he finally found an opening. He dropped down, landing comfortably on the floor. He remained low, crouched down behind another desk within the police station. Slowly he popped his head up, and looked over to one side to see Batgirl – good, he wasn’t alone. Tim would now creep his way from behind the desk, and quickly scuffled over to Batgirl’s position, taking care as to not make any noise at all.
“What do you want to do? Hostages or Zsasz, it’s your call”. It seemed only right to give the choice to Batgirl. As of yet, they weren’t clear as to who the officers being hostage were. There was a chance that Barbara’s father could be among them. If she would prefer to do the rescue side of things, and make sure that her father gets out okay, then that was understandable. But equally, if Commissioner Gordon was among them, you couldn’t begrudge Barbara of wanting to kick that no good villain Zsasz across the face.

Nightwing had tried not to roll his eyes when he had watched the others diminish his plan like that. Sure, they had other ideas, but he was here now, and he knew without a doubt that his plan would work. As much as he hated letting it go, he knew he had to, for the sake of the hostages, and more importantly, for the possibility that one of them was Barbara's father.
The other two made their way through the vent as he watched. Waiting a few moments after Robin had entered, Dick sighed and made his own entrance. He had to put aside his pride and focus on the task at hand. He decided, as he crawled through the small vents, that he would follow Barbara's lead no matter what she asked him to do.
He dropped into the office room, looking for the duo as he landed. They were crouched beside a desk across the room. They had a well-detailed plan by now, he assumed. They probably knew everything that was needed to complete their tactics, and he wouldn't need to be of assistance to them as they devised the final aspects of their plan. He would have to work with them as a team.
Giving up his act of stubbornness, Nightwing moved discreetly to where they were. "So, what's the plan?" He knew that once they became aware of why Zsasz was here, they would be able to find a way to get him out and, possibly, do it without him harming any of the hostages. Once the people were safe, this mission would be a breeze, at least that's what he'd hoped.
