He told her to get into character and Nightshade did her best, remaining still in the position she had been in but slightly slumped over. This had better be worth it was all she could say because while he may have her interest peaked it was a lot to ask a person to pretend to be incapacitated for a cheap thrill or two. As her target turned date turned potential whatever walked away and set into motion his plans Nightshade waited as the club cleared out and she listened to him address those that were left.
Now, Nightshade was no stranger to fights to the death but these people had paid what sounded like a large sum of money for the chance to be the one to kill her, it seemed like a waste of funds to her. What chance did earthlings have against an Apokalyptian like her? Especially one that had been on the fast track to join the rank of the Furies? Of course Nightshade realized that the toxin that her mysterious date had given her was meant to act as a handicap for the earthlings, give them a head start and a fighting chance but he knew about her power and knew that it would have no effect. The fact that he wanted her to pretend to catch these people off guard told her that he was not invested in these people and she was going to take that as a ‘go crazy on them’, the same which he had told the others in regards to her.
Seemed that he wanted a show all his own. Well, she did not want to disappoint him.
Nightshade remained as she was, watching through half open eyes and waiting for the woman that had taken the first approach to get closer and more in range. The woman climbed the steps with her large knife gripped tightly and raised and at the ready to strike down, had the situation been a little different she might had admired the tenacity of the woman, she was not wasting time but Nightshade was not about to let herself be taken out by a earthling that needed to sedate her opponent first before they attacked. It was weakness and cowardice and she had no time for that. Yes, she may like to poison people but Nightshade knew that she did not need to do that to kill her enemy and she rarely did the first thing in battle, she liked to play with them a little first before that.
The knife wielding woman reached the top of the steps to the VIP section followed not far behind by some others. The woman approached the bench that Nightshade was on and raised her arm above her head, ready to bring the knife down and strike what the woman hoped would be the fatal blow…that was exactly where Nightshade wanted her. With her hand raised like it was the woman exposed her midsection and would be ill prepared to block an attack.
Nightshade did not waste time and she snapped out of her false paralysis and brought both her legs up and bent them back toward her body. The moment her feet lined up with the womans midsection Nightshade kicked her would be attacker hard in the gut, something that she was sure would hurt even if she had been a normal human. The thin spikes that acted as the heels to her shoes were dangerous and impromptu weapons that wouldn’t need much force to cause some damage but…since she was Apokalyptian Nightshade had the added strength that came with it.
Her feet made contact and Nightshade felt the heels sink into the softness of the womans gut for a brief moment before the woman was thrown back by the sheer force of the attack. The knife fell to the floor as the woman flew back down the steps and crashed into a few others that had begun to ascend them. It was almost like watching bowling pins fall, the woman she had thrown had knocked over three others and she laid there motionless.
Now that her cover was blown Nightshade stood from the bench and kicked off her shoes, they would only get in the way. Once the shoes were gone she bent down and picked up the discarded knife. These people wanted a fight? Well, now they would get one.

Jager winced as he saw he heel sink into the overeager first contestant " Ooooh that had to hurt!" he took a leisurely draw of his drink as she toppled down and then lay motionless "Huh I guess I was right." He chuckled under his breath as he looked who was left. Five in total remained not exlcuding the now armed Nightshade. One and and girl that seemed to favor their hand to hand as they were wielding no weapons to speak off. Another guy that managed to smuggle in some kind of club. A third guy who had improvised with a broken bottle into a crude stabbing implement, and the last girl had....
Jager paused as the last contestant pressed a button on two small batons she was holding as they extended and from the sides of each a blade shot out forming the weapons. Two somehow collapsible hatchets.
Jager pointed at her as he smiled a little said " Oh I like you, you came to play." The remaining people began to spread out as they formed a wider circle, as it seemed they had at least enough sense to realizing that crowding her was going to have them form a conga line as she killed them so, they waited, looking for her to make the next move. It was standoff for now, but one that was not going to last for long.

Slowly Nightshade descended down the steps and stopped at the foot and completed the circle that had formed but only for a moment. The young woman continued forward and made her way to the middle of the ring while her eyes scanned across those that were left. The two unarmed would be no risk to her and while disposing of them would be the easiest and quickest there were others that needed her attention more, like the two with the sharp weapons.
Idealy Nightshade should take out the woman with the hatchets first but that wouldn’t be very dramatic and something told her that her new friend had a flare for the dramatic. She was here to put on a show and to audition for whatever he had planned so might as well make it something memorable.
”So I hear you all paid to be here tonight. “ Nightshade said now that she had her assessment of her foes and her plan of action. ”And that the winner gets to take it all home..what happens if I win, do I get the pot?” That was actually a valid question, she wasn’t doing this for nothing and she had better get something out of it. ” I hope so because if you are all stupid enough to waste your money in thinking that you can take on a someone like me then you wont mind me spending it.”
The fighters apparently had grown tired of her talk because by looking around at how twitchy the group was she could tell there was a silent conversation going on, all planning on when to attack. Even if she knew she could fighting all five of them at once just didn’t sound appealing right now so it was best to get the jump on them first. Taking the knife she had picked up from the first woman Nightshade tossed it slightly in the air, grabbing the tip of the blade and between her thumb and pointer finger and launched it at the man with the broken bottle. The knife flew through the air and went deep into the mans chest and he fell to his knees before over to the side.
It happened fast but that first move opened the flood gates and now the remaining four all jumped to the attack. The first one to reach her was the unarmed woman and Nigthshade ducked and weaved her way through the swings and kicks, eventually ducking her way under and behind the woman. Getting into a position where she had the upper hand Nightshade took both hands and grabbed around the womans head and quickly twisted in opposite directions, hearing the satisfying sound of the bones snapping in two. Before she could really take a moment to savor that kill there was a loud CRACK as something made contact with the side of her head.
Nightshade stumbled back a little; taking a moment to let her vision come back and once it did she saw that the guy with the club had come up behind her. Well, that was her fault for letting her guard down but hey, she did get wrapped up in her work every now and then. Shaking her head a little to clear the ringing in her ears away Nightshade felt something in the corner of her eyes and brought a hand up to brush whatever it was away. Seemed the hit had knocked her contacts lose.
Now that her vision was clear and her ears had stopped ringing Nightshade looked at the man who seemed slightly frightened now. He had probably expected that hit to take her down but seeing her still standing and in her more monstrous look seemed to take some color out of his face. The others seemed to stop too thou the woman with the axes had stayed back for most of this…Nightshade had a feeling she was waiting this out, letting the others take the fall first and wear her down.
OK, so now that one of them had gotten their cheap shot in it was time to stop playing around and time to show them just exactly what they were dealing with. Nightshade looked at the man with the bat and began stepping toward him and that helped him find his footing again because the man winded the bat back again to swing. Before he could release fully however she had reached him and stuck out her left hand to stop the bat from going any further, using her superior strength to keep it mid swing while her other hand came up and grabbed the man’s face across his mouth. Her long, sharp black nails digging into the skin.
Having her hold on him Nightshade unleashed her power and pushed a potent, painful and deadly toxin into the man’s body. It took only seconds for the mans body to start to convulse and she released him once he had, his body dropping to the floor while he foamed at the mouth and blood began to stream from the mans eyes.
With that taken care of Nightshade turned to look at the other two left, it was their move now.

and then there were two. The martial arts and the hatchet still remained as they slowly circled Nightshade, sizing things up. The hand to hand guy then moved…..
….and started running toward one of the doors that lead outside.
Jager sighed and picked up the knife the bartender used to cut lime wedge and felt the weight for a moment and then his arm moved firing the knife into the fleeing man’s calf, as the shock from the pain caused him to stumble and fall. Jager turned to the two others and held up his hands “ one moment ladies” He then vaulted back over the bar and moving over there, lashing out with a kick knocking the fleeing guy down, as he then took the knife and grabbed it pulling it down through the calf to the Achilles tendon as the man screamed. Pulling the knife out, he kicked again bringing him supine. The man looked like he was going to speak, as Jager held up his hand and pressed a finger to his lips.He then grabbed the man outstretched hand and twisted back as the was a crack and pop of a break as the man yelled out in pain. As he yelled Jager then stomped his foot down, right on the man’s throat, crushing the hyoid as his scream turned into a pitiable choking sound as he struggled for breath but found none. Jager turned and walked back to the bar as the sounds soon died down.
Hopping back over the bar he said “ Alright then, now that that’s taken care of, carry on.”
The moment those words left his mouth the hatchet woman swung out out at Nightshade however right before the axes came in contact with her, suddenly the woman and the hatchets disappeared, vanishing into thin air. From behind Nightshade there was a small ripple as the illusion the woman had made dropped and from behind Nightshade she swung out
“Huh a metahuman, who could have seen that one coming?” Jager had once again taken to commentary.

As their battle was put on pause Nightshade stood there, dropping her stance and placing her hand on her hip as she watched the little side show. Well that certainly was unexpected. She had thought someone would run, after all it would be the smart thing to do but she didn't expect the whole knife bit. It was a pleasant surprise but that made her wonder all the more just who this guy was. While Jager did his work Nightshade watched while keeping a careful eye on her last opponent with a few glances her way every now and then to make sure she wasn't going to try to get a few cheap shots in.
The little show soon ended thou and Jager returned to his seat and just like that the battle was back on. The other woman swung with the axes and Nightshade went to try to deflect but before she could do anything the woman and the axes vanished. Huh...
Meta humans were not foreign to her, she had dealt with them on Apokolips but she had not been expecting on tonight and now that she was faced with a illusionist that changed things a bit. Teleporters and people like this woman meant a certain kind of battle plan and sadly Nightshade had never had the chance to fight one before but..she always did like a challenge.
Hearing movement behind her Nightshade went to move out of the way, tucking and rolling forward but not before the blade of one of the axes grazed across the back of her shoulder. Nightshade was quickly back up to her feet and facing her rival now, feeling the sting on her back that let her know that she had been cut. Perfect. Well, it was time to step up her defense now, the gloves were off. Focusing on what she wanted the alien conjured up a nice and painful paralyzing poison, the skin around her hands and eyes turning purple as a warning. If this girl touched her in any way then she would be given a dose of it and it should be enough to take her down. Question was, was this person in front of her even the real one? "Lets go bitch" Nightshade taunted, calling her forward while putting her hands up once again in a ready to fight manner. Time to put this woman down. |

"Oh this should be fun." Jager said with a laugh as the battle continued, the other girl merely smirked as she briefly twirled the axe in her hands, before throwing one at Nightshade. It flew through the air aiming for her head however before it connected it disappeared as well as the axe wielding woman. Suddenly she was behind Nightshade and lashed out with her stiletto clad foot to kick her forward and then gracefully moved back to avoid the deadly hands as she took a few more steps back. She then shifted into a fighting stance as two other duplicates appeared as well. The three charged one going low aiming for nightshades legs with the axes, another charging front and center and the third using a table as leverage to jump and soar above bringing the axes down on her head.

Nigthsade was faced with a tricky situation as the duplicates charged at her. The good news was that two of them were not real, the bad news was that she was not sure which was which and any of them would deal a good bit of damage if not fatal if it made contact with her. She had to think fast and do it now before she ended up in two. Doing the only thing she could think to do quickly enough Nightshade flipped back, her hands coming to the cold floor of the club as her feet arched over and she landed in a crouched position, slightly away from the women. It bought her some time but not enough. Bits of broken glass from the man that decided using a bottle was a good choice in weapon were littered around the floor where she landed which dug into her bare hands and feet.
The pain was annoying but it also gave her a idea.
Scooping up a handful of glass bits Nightshade threw the shards at the duplicates, the glass made contact with the woman and passed through the fakes and they disappeared, leaving only the one in the air. Now that her opponent was exposed Nightshade was quickly standing and she stepped forward toward the woman as she was coming down from her leap. Nightshade reached out and caught a handful of the womans clothes to get a grip before pulling her all the way down and slamming her back into the floor. The womans head bounced off the ground and now that she was down Nightshade got down and straddled the woman, holding her wrist and began slamming them against the ground to get her to let go of the axes.
Unable to keep the ax in her hand the weapon fell to the side while the two women struggled with the remaining one. Nightshade used her strength to keep her grip on the womans wrist and keeping the hand with the remaining ax pinned down but the womans other free hand began flailing around trying to grab onto Nightshades hair. Having had enough Nightshade grabbed the other hand and forced it down, effectively having the woman pinned and at her mercy.
Now that she had her where she wanted the question was...what did she to with her? There were plenty of ways and the thought of slitting the womans throat with her own weapon seemed to have a sweet poetic justice to it but it wouldn't really give her satisfaction.
Satisfaction...now that gave her a idea.
Dipping her head down Nightshade pressed her lips against the womans much to the womans surprise and disgust. She tried to struggle and turn her head but her movements quickly turned from ones of struggle to ones of pain and then to nothing as the poison (and combination of the toxin that Jager had so graciously slipped into her drink and one of Nigthshades own special brand) she was given started to take effect. Nigthshade continued the kiss until the woman under her slowed her movements and finally the alien pulled away and stood. Looking down at her kill Nigthsahde took a moment to admire her work but as blood began to trickle down the side of the dead womans mouth she had had enough.
Stepping over the body Nightshade walked toward Jager and stopped a few feet from him. "So, did I pass your little test?" He still hadn't told her what that was all for but no one went through all that trouble for nothing. |

Jager gave a polite golf clap as she finished the job. As she asked if she had passed his test, he laughed as he gathered up a few ingredients at the bar said " Oh that wasn't a test, that was just...something to liven up my weekend. Those idiots were bored, rich, and a little psychopathic, and I just can't walk away from an open door like that. If it wasn't you it would have been someone or something else." He said flashing a smile as he poured a few liquors into a shaker and capped the lid as he chuckled "but it's cute that you think your special." as he shook it up for a bit and then poured the contents into the martini glass before garnishing it with a mint leaf as he slid it to the edge of the bar " However by all means enjoy your reward for participation, and hey this one is even neurotoxin free."
He then pulled out a suitcase from under the bar as he said " Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to treat the aforementioned idiots money with, roughly the same respect i had for their lives and blow it on the first game of chance I find out in the casino." he then snapped his fingers as if he forgot something and turned back toward her as he said " Ah yes, before I forgot, there is reason why I did need to find you tonight." With that he pulled out a playing card, or at least it looked like a playing card, The Queen of Hearts to be specific however if one looked very closely you could see the queen of hearts face was a stylized skull and put it by her drink.
"It's an invitation to the real game in this town. You go up to one of the concierge desk and show them this. They'll ask you what limit you like and you respond that you want to go all in and they'll direct you from there. Now like most invitations you have the option of saying yes or no. However let me tell you, what your doing right now, the drinking, the sex, the killing, its fine but your eventually gonna get bored of that. You say yes adn you'll have a whole new world to play with. You say no and well I doubt you'll have a night this fun again and as I think I've proven, i do keep my promises."
He leaned on the bar and said " Now the one thing about this invitation is it is time sensitive meaning that neither you nor I are leaving here until i get yes or no. So take your time if you like, just bear in mind that we are in room with several dead bodies and the decomp smell is never fun." he said as he awaited her answer.

Nightshade really had no idea what she had been expecting but she certainly wasn’t expecting nothing and nothing was what she got after she had finished. So, that was just for entertainment value? She wasn’t sure if she should be impressed by that or if she should kill this guy for wasting her time, she was leaning more toward the killing as he stood behind the bar with his smug little face while he mixed her a drink once more.
The desire to kill him intensified as he pulled the money from behind the bar and started to walk off. That was it? He was just going to leave her behind with all these bodies and mess? Nightshade could feel her body shifting to a new toxin to use on this douchebag until he stopped and turned back around and pulled a card from a inside pocket and set it next to the drink he had made her. While he explained that the card was a invitation Nightshade was weighing her options. He was right as much as she hated to admit it, she knew that eventually she would get bored here and then that would lead to more complicated things that would get messy and she would be lying if she said he hadn’t peaked her interest. If this was what he considered fun then she could wait to see what else this guy had in store.
Taking a seat at the barstool that was in front of her drink Nightshade grabbed the glass and took a sip while sliding the card toward her. She picked the card up and examined it before turning it between her fingers in thought. What did she really have to lose? If this was the kind of excitement this guy could offer then who was she to turn that down? Senseless killing was always a fun time.
Sipping the drink some more curiosity eventually got the better of her and she stopped turning the card and laid it back on the bartop. ”Fine, I’m in.” She answered before finishing the rest of her drink and throwing the glass somewhere behind her.
With her drink finished and their business seemingly conducted for the night Nightshade saw no reason to stick around. Jumping from the barstool she made sure she had the playing card before walking over to reclaim her discarded shoes.
Bending over to pick up the heels she carefully slipped them on...a little painful with the bits of glass in her feet but eh, she would manage. With her shoes and invitation Nightshade took one last look around the club at all the damage she had gone, looked at Jäger briefly before giving him a two finger salute and walked out of the business. She had her own fun to find but first, she needed to change.
