Probability Manipulation - Jinx's body produces mystical energy which she uses for a variety of effects one of which is affecting the laws of probability. Specializing in probability altering magic that she calls Hexes, Jinx can change the nature of probability often in her favor and going against her enemies causing a type of bad luck to befall them like guns jamming, objects breaking, shattering or exploding. Her abilities defy the vary nature of logic and chance to even cause projectiles to go off its natural course or seemingly durable material to suddenly break down or dissipate. A witch that she met up with in New Orleans though warns her about playing with the laws of probability and that balance needs to be restored because of that bad things tend to befall people that are too close to Jinx (see weaknesses for more detail).
Magic/Sorcery - Jinx is an up and coming sorcerer currently being trained by the dark sorcerers of The Light. Because of this she is quickly becoming a formidable magic wielder. She is able to unleash magical waves of energy or focus them into controlled streams or bursts. She can even focus the magical energies into small shields. Jinx has a unique connection to the earth which she has been taught to utilize so that her elemental magic doesn't drain her as quickly. Jinx was taught to channel her magic from the energies of the earth i.e. the ground where she must have some kind of contact with. Some of her elemental abilities include, but are not limited to: conjuring wind bursts, summoning flames, creating earth tremors, creative illusions, and even dissolving solid matter. Her elemental magic does not work as effectively if she does not have contact with the ground.
Danger Sense - Jinx also has mild precognitive abilities where she can sense danger moments before something happens. She doesn't have control over this and it is not a detailed awareness but more a feeling that something bad is about to take place in the immediate future. It is not the same as a foreshadowing of things to come but a warning of imminent danger normally about to happen within moments.

DESCRIPTION: Tall and willowy, Jinx doesn't have that athletic physique nor is she femininely curvy; she has more of a lithe unassuming form. She has pale skin and blue-violet eyes giving her an almost ghostly or ethereal appearance if she doesn't wear any makeup to add some colour to her fair complexion. Jinx has long layers of blonde hair that she dyes pink and either left to fall loosely down past her shoulders or she puts them up into two ponytails or little buns at the top of her head. Her clothing is often Goth inspired with layers of leather, lace, silk or cotton. Though she can be known to just be in dark jeans and a t-shirt as well. Her makeup is often worn to give more colour to her pale pallor and done in pinks and purples with her eyes having more of the smoky look which tends to give that Goth or Emo feel, but she is neither of those things. She just gravitates to some pieces of their style but doesn't really fall into either lifestyles.

Fear: Being a 'Nobody' and considered useless; abandoned.
Desire: To become one of the most powerful sorcerers of her generation; become someone of import so as never to be considered insignificant. She wants power and everything that comes with it.
HABITS: Jinx fidgets. She has a habit of either having a coin flip along her fingers making it dance between the knuckles or she twirls a pen if one is in hand or just simply flicks her lighter on/off and plays with the flame. She is a fidgitter and rarely sits still. She likes to do card flourishes and often practices magic tricks with them though they are more sleight of hand and mentalist tricks then real magic but she's always messing with something.
PET PEEVE: 'Goody-goody Types', to Jinx, they are too good to be true; Everyone has a dark side. People who are also too perky or overly peppy, exuding happiness in that abundance is irritating to her; like cheerleaders. She just wants to bash them in the face or burn them with a spell.
STRENGTHS:
•Natural magical abilities - Jinx is a natural when it comes to magic and her great potential was what caught the eye of the Light.
•Gymnastics - Jinx is extremely agile and uses various somersaults and tumbling to avoid offensive attacks. She has also incorporated her gymnastic skill into close-quarter combat.
•Sleight of Hand - Jinx has been practicing these techniques since childhood as she loved to do simple magic tricks as a kid. the Sleights just got more complex and advanced the older she got.
•Magical Fighting - Jinx has her own fighting technique that utilizes her magic as if an extension of her limbs. She fights with a natural fluency that makes it seem almost fluid and automatic.
•Cunning - She had to be smart and wily to survive. She isn't the most athletic of the bunch, nor is she the strongest or fastest but that meant she needed to be smarter to outwit the powerhouses in the arena.
•Multi-linguist - Jinx can speak several different languages fluently: French, Italian , English, German, Spanish and Russian.
WEAKNESSES:
•Physical Prowess - Jinx is of average strength and speed for a human female her age and build. She can die the same way standard humans can die.
•Jinx Factor - More a psychological self prophesising issue rather than actual truth. Jinx believes that she has a 'Bad Luck Aura' around her and if around people she cares about for too long bad things happen to them. The truth is, it's Jinx who subconsciously causes these bad things to happen turning the probability against those she gets too close to. It's her belief that it would happen that causes it to eventually occur.
•Magic exertion - Everything has a cost and so does wielding the magic that Jinx does. Physically it drains her the longer and more complex the spell is the more it takes out of her and she would need to recuperate. Smaller spells like her hexes don't really take much out of her so she can cast those rather frequently with very little effort but more complex spells would tax and tire her out.
•Earth's Connection - Jinx's elemental magics are strongest when connected to the ground, as she gets her strength from that connection if she is levitated or thrown off her feet her connection breaks and whatever spell she was casting would be disrupted until she made contact with the ground once more. This is also one of the reasons Jinx likes walking around in bare feet; her connection to the ground is the strongest and the magical energies can be channelled more easily. With shoes or booted feet she can still wield elemental magic but then she is more taxed as she uses some of her own energy to make up for the difference rather than use the natural energies of the earth.
TRAITS:
Quiet, enigmatic, and aloof, that would be the best way to describe Jinx. Less interested in the overt petty schemes and games of others, Jinx keeps more to herself and avoids the obvious power-plays. That isn't to say she isn't about gaining power, but she's less open about her methods. She is quiet in that she doesn't say much and appears more contemplative and disinterested in her surroundings even if it is contrary to the fact. She is well aware of everything around her, she just appears to be clueless or look like she doesn't care. She is a bit quirky or odd in some of her ways like walking around in bare feet almost all the time or walking around with a book in her hand and head down. She and can be cryptic sometimes, and seems to not to be in touch with the real world surroundings but again that's just her façade; she is quite well aware.
Jinx does have a playful side though and while some might not find her playfulness all that humorous, she does. Pranks and jokes are not beneath her to do every now and again. She also likes to be playfully vague with most personal questions asked to her, to the point of annoyance for some. Jinx is not a socialite but as much as she fronts like she doesn't care she does not like to be forgotten or left out. It's a different story if she chooses not to go out with others but if not invited she takes that as a slight. Jinx bores easily and doesn't really much like to sit still. She on occasion will be seen playing with cards or doing little magic tricks she will try to pull others in to (the rare times she is feeling rather social). She also likes probability and gambling so isn't above taking bets though most have learned not to bother betting against her. Her sense of humor is a bit off adding to her quirk. Jinx is soft spoken and unassuming. She doesn't seem like much of a threat and that's fine by her as she likes to come from nowhere and when least expected. She is cunning and conniving; not someone one would trifle with or want to upset. She's a seether by nature and chooses her time wisely to act but when she strikes, she strikes hard and fast.

HISTORY:
Born in Turin, Italy, Jinx was found by her adoptive parents at the foot of the Piazza Statuto. Unknown to most the Piazza Statuto, is said to be the entrance to the Underworld (if one were of the superstitious sort). According to the Romans, who have also left their mark on Turin, the west where the sun sets is also where the darkness began: a place of negative associations. According to popular legend, Piazza Statuto is one of the vertices of the Black Magic triangle (the others being in London and San Francisco). So an abandoned child found at the foot of the Piazza Statuto should have been a sign if one was of the superstitious sort. No one knew who the young child belonged to and no one came to claim the child so her soon to be adoptive parents -American diplomats- moved through the red tape to adopt her officially. The Blackwells had been trying to have a child for years and after many failed attempts had given up on having a family until they found the young baby abandoned at the base of the Piazza Statuto. They named her Francesca in homage to her Italian heritage. It started out loving and supportive, her parents even enrolling her in gymnastics as she had a knack for the sport even at a very young age and Francesca did her best to try to shine for her adoptive parents and make them proud.
She had stunning light blue-violet eyes that had a certain strangeness to them that no one could place but as she grew it became inherently clear that the young Francesca was not like other children. Strange things happened around her making keeping a nanny for long periods of time near impossible as a child. As she grew up she moved from country to country as her parents were American Ambassadors. Elaine, her adoptive mother adored Francesca and thought the girl was special. Francesca in turn loved her adoptive mother however even Elaine could not deny the strange things that often occurred around Francesca. It was starting to strain the marriage as Jonothan found Francesca the common denominator in all the strange things he wanted to be rid of the girl, however Elaine loved the child too much to let her go. So when old enough Francesca was sent to stay at boarding schools in hopes to soften Jonothan's view on the young girl but it never changed. He was always distant and Francesca took Elaine's agreement in sending her to boarding school as abandonment by her mother.
She didn't really fit in well at the private boarding schools with the sons and daughters of dignitaries, and the rich. She tried to fit in trying out for the gymnastics team and making it on the team. However she just didn't fit in despite being rather good at the sport. The students and even her teammates often found her odd and her obsession with cards and magic tricks was beneath them even as she tried to make friends by showing them a few tricks. Francesca didn't really have any friends but rivals and bullies she had in abundance. After a freak accident at the boarding school and unable to logically explain the events that occurred had Francesca was expelled and sent back home. Her father had decided to enter into politics and moved the family back to the US. By this time Francesca was more distant and aloof, her abilities were manifesting and she feared telling her parents about it, particularly her father who did not hide his distrust of her. Her mother tried to sooth things between father and daughter but Francesca saw that as weakness since Elaine rarely stood up against the man to defend her so much as try to placate. Still she did love her mother and tried not to antagonize her father too often (in front of her at least). For a while things started to settle into some form of normalcy.
Francesca stayed at the Blackwell's estate in New Orleans with her grandmother (Elaine's mother) who had always taken a liking to the child and Francesca felt the same. She was out of her father's hair but close enough that Elaine could visit and stay on occasion. The old woman was one of the few that understood Francesca's gifts and tried to help the young girl in understanding her abilities as well as keep it a secret. One of her mother's friends, a self-proclaimed witch cautioned Francesca when she caught the girl messing with probability magic. Everything had a balance and counter balance, even the laws of probability and magic played by the same rules. If messed with too often eventually it would catch up to Francesca and bad things would start to happen around her. Had she listened she might not have continued using her growing abilities in such flagrant manners but the power Francesca wielded was too tempting to ignore and the ability to tip things in her favor too addictive a power trip to stop, so she continued to use her ability.
Hurricane Katrina struck and her grandmother was never found among the wreckage and debris and Francesca believed it was her fault that her grandmother had died. The freak accident that caused the woman to get caught up in the storm was too much of a coincidence for the young girl to take and she blamed herself for the death. She became even more sullen and withdrawn. Even Jonothan did not bother to hide the fact that where ever Francesca was, strange and tragic things always happened. It was like misfortune followed her where ever she went. Once again Francesca found herself with no one and again threw herself into competitive gymnastics to salve the growing void within her as she had also given up magic for a time. But always the call to use it was too tempting and too great; she couldn't stay away for long before she started again.
A few years later the Blackwells got some unexpected news, Elaine was pregnant. After years of failed attempts and giving up on even trying to have a child when they adopted Francesca, Elaine was now expecting. Happy for her mother Francesca did the best she could to help out during the pregnancy and even when baby Ailyn was born. She adored her little sister though Jonothan's contempt for Francesca was ever growing now especially that he had a child of his own flesh and blood. Francesca was forbidden to go near the child for fear of something 'bad' happening to her. Once again Francesca was sent away to boarding school and only came home during holidays. It was during baby Ailyn's second Christmas that Francesca's world took a turn for the worst.
Ailyn had waddled into the grand party room where the adults revelled in alcohol and good times. Francesca noticing Ailyn ran after the toddler who thought it a game and ran faster away from her older sister who was calling out to her as she wove in and out of drunken adults. The young toddle had lost her balance when she slammed into the legs of an adult and went falling backwards into the grand stone hearth. Made in the likeness of the old medieval hearths the fireplace did not have the same natural barriers the more modern ones had and it wasn't expected that Ailyn would be in the room to be in any danger. However Ailyn had wandered in and was now stumbling into the large fire pit. Without thinking and in a panic Francesca for the first time used her magic in front to people in an effort to save her little sister. She pulled at the flames caused the improbably to occur as the flames jumped out of the hearth parting away from the falling toddler and leaping out hungrily at everything else around. Tapestries and fabric caught on fire along with wood, alcohol and some nearby guests. Ailyn had fallen and bumped her head on the now empty hearth however the trauma of the fall still made her cry as Francesca scooped up her sister in and amid the panic of flames and screaming people.
Her sister was snatched from her arms by a livid and enraged Jonothan Blackwell who struck Francesca down and accused her of trying to kill her sister and the rest of them. Francesca quickly fled and ran away into the woods near their estate and kept running. Since then she'd been on the run. It had been quite literally modern day witch hunt for her and her parents disowned her fearing the magic she possessed. She tried to go back to explain things to her mother but Elaine would have nothing to do with her and Francesca was once again forced to flee for her life as the authorities came to try and take her in. She hid away and left with a travelling carnival group and moved State to State. She started going by the name Frankie and dyed her hair pink. She started at first helping to run some of the carnival games before getting a booth of her own doing magical tricks and games of chance. That didn't last long either as eventually her bad luck struck. One of the rides malfunctioned; a fluke accident with the electrical caused one of the men to be electrified to death. Once again that cloud of bad luck followed her and when one of the carnies finally recognized her as the Blackwell daughter that was wanted for witchcraft and arson back in Louisiana, she fled.
Frankie ran and travelled far enough away, hitching rides and living on the street to survive. It was a harsher living but living on the streets and moving city to city was her only guarantee of anonymity and staying alive. She eventually found her way into the secretive Dark side Club where she entered a match desperate for money and not willing to sell her body in the way other girls her age did when they parcelled out all other morals. She didn't want to go down that road and when she found out that she could earn some cash if she survived in the ring; Frankie volunteered. Worst case scenario she'd die end of story, best case she'd win earn some money to buy a night in a nice hotel, clean shower and room service or at least that was her wish if she won that money. She won that match but barely though not without gaining the attention of a particular member of the Light; Klarion the Witch Boy.
Under the tutelage of the dark sorcerers of the Light Frankie learned how to turn the fear and pain she had felt into fuel for her magic skills in order to dish out a little pain and fear herself in Dark Side Club matches. And with Klarion as her mentor her understanding and control of her magic expanded and grew from not just probability manipulation but into elemental and dark magic as well. She even gained a pet familiar she called Revan; a raven that she has bonded to with the use of the dark magic Klarion has shown her.
Feeling truly powerful and in control of her abilities for the first time in her life, gave Frankie a rush that was intoxicating. As her magical abilities grew her wins in the arena also grew; enough to gain renown in the ring for a time. She made enough of a name for herself so as to have gained a coveted position within the Light's Shadow Squad. Now serving on the Shadow Squad itself as the resident magic wielder, Frankie has finally found a place that not only accepts her darker urges but encourages them. No longer would she be living in fear and forced to run from her home ever again. She was in control of her life now.
