November 23rd 10PM | Detroit
This needed to stop and she was going to make sure it stopped tonight. It had only been a few days since she had joined back with the League of Shadows and Roy was already causing problems for her. He had been interfering with League missions, getting in the way of the other assassins and causing them to lose their targets or just fail all together. Not only that but he had sent a message with one of them for her. His interference had not gone unnoticed either. Ras and the others had expressed their disappointment that Red Arrow was still a issue to them and Cheshire had said that she would deal with it before things escalated more. He was on thin ice as it was and if he didn’t stop this then they would kill him or worse, make her do it.
His message had said that he wanted to meet with her to discuss things but frankly Jade did not trust Roy enough to believe that this wasn’t some sort of trap to get her alone in a place to be ambushed by his little sidekick friends. No, if he wanted to meet then they would do it on her terms.
Leaving Lian with her mother in Gotham Jade set her plan in motion. She traveled to Star City under the radar and left a cryptic message for Roy, letting him know where she would be if he wanted to met and to come alone.
Jade had business to conduct in Detroit, a UN official was to be there to discuss the declining state of the City and its Government and the Light wanted the official scared. She was not ordered to kill this official but a message had to be sent. When the time came Jade had perched herself up on top of a building across from the hotel the UN official was staying during the duration and she removed a rifle with a heavy duty scope and began to set the weapon and line her shot up. Once she had her shot Jade waited. Everything had to be into place before she could continue and all she had to do was wait for the official to make it back to their hotel room which should be any minute now, the official had a routine and he always returned to his room around this time.
Cheshire idly waited, finger around the trigger and ready to pull and she wondered if Roy had taken the bait she had left for him with her message. She wanted him to find her, she wanted him to come and try to stop her, she wanted them to fight, that way if anyone in the Shadows was watching they would see the husband and wife dueling and hopefully it would be enough to convince them that she could handle Roy and hopefully this would be what made Roy stop coming after her. Jade needed to make Roy hate her but something told her that would be easier said than done.

Red Arrow would have been lying if had said that the last few weeks had been boring for him, which was mainly due to the fact that he had been disrupting the Shadows work like a mother disrupted her teenager's social life. There had been moments where he directly attacked the agents of the League of Shadows, and others where he had performed a more subtle action. Either way, he always made it known that he had been involved in doing it, so he was hoping that someone was taking notice of all this hard work that he was doing and do something about it. In fact, someone had, and while it was the person he had wanted it to be it was not the one that he had expected.
The message she left for him told him where to meet her, and Red Arrow wasted no time in getting to the city early and checking out the meeting place ahead of time. While he trusted Jade to an extent, his trust of the Shadows didn't exist, and he wouldn't put it past them to try and set him up to be taken out by playing on his ties to the famed assassin. Fortunately, there had been no signs of it being an ambush spot as it overlooked a hotel, so it wasn't a plan for him to die in the expected way.
With that in mind, he left and spent the next few hours preparing himself for the fight he knew was coming as well as a few other things to pass the time, and then he returned to find Jade with a gun trained on a window. Removing the bow from his shoulder, the archer pulled an arrow from it and fired at a spot right next to the gun, and when it impacted a cloud of smoke would erupt from the arrow. This would cloud her vision and disrupt her shot for a moment, but he knew that moment would pass quickly so he needed to get her attention focused on him.
"So this is what you chose to destroy are family for? Putting bullets into people's heads while our daughter waits for you," he asked while loading another arrow. This one was a lot more deadlier than the first one had been, and he wasn't aiming to purposely miss this time around. Firing into the cloud, Red Arrow was aiming for a spot where her left leg should have been, but he naturally assumed that she had been smart enough to move from her current position. Jade always knew how to anticipate his moves. It was almost like it was her super power or something, and it really annoyed him while also making him happy.
Regardless, he had to keep his head in the game if he was going to keep her from taking another life, and he prayed that Lian forgave him for what needed to be done."Now are you ready to stop this game or do we wait until one of us draws blood?"

Jade was still waiting for her shot when she heard it. The pluck of a bow string and the sound of a arrow whizzing through the air. Cheshire immediately let go of the gun and she jumped to the side to get out of the direct path of the arrow but it seemed he had not been aiming for her because she knew Roy to be a better shot than that, if he wanted to hit her he would have. The smoke from the arrow clouded her vision but luckily the filters in her mask made it so that was all it did.
Well, he seemed to have gotten her message.
The sound of another arrow coming for her told her that he was not here to try to talk like the last time they had met which, was better for her. Would make things seem more real should the Shadows be watching. Jade removed three shurikens from her belt and threw them in the direction she had gauged Roy to be from the direction of his arrows. Cheshire was confidant that he could block them and if not it's not like the poison coated on the blades would kill him, it would just hurt and parallelize him for a little while. Besides, at this point in their relationship he had to have some kind of immunity to the toxin built up somewhat.
"I know I said I admired your persistence, Red" She had told him that before when their little love-hate love affair first began years ago. His dedication to his jobs had been a endearing quality but now it was just annoying simply because he was ruining her plans that would keep him safe if he would just stop and stay away. Maybe at another time it would return to its cute and semi romantic state it had been back then but not now. "But it's really starting to get annoying now"
Using the cover created by his smoke arrow Cheshire moved quickly and quietly so she could be behind him, using the thermal sensors in her mask to help guide her to where exactly her husband was standing. As he spoke about if it was going to come down to them drawing blood Cheshire removed one of her sais from its holster as she came up from behind and grabbed him, putting her forearm across his neck in a hold. She held Roy tight and applied some pressure to him while using her free hand with her sai and putting the tip of the blade to the side of his face. "A little blood sounds like foreplay to me. Doesn't this feel just like old times?" Despite her annoyance and his utter bad time for everything it was too easy to slip back in to old routines and it really did feel like old times. Back when things had been exciting but...that would have to be shoved down for now because she had two jobs to do tonight. She still had to complete her mission for the Shadows and she had to make Roy stop coming after her.
One would undoubtedly be much easier than the other

When he didn't hear the agonizing sounds that one would normally hear as an arrow pierced someone's leg, Red knew that she had dodged the second arrow, which meant that she was going to retaliate soon. As if on cue, three stars came flying at him, and he barely dodged them by going into a roll. "Well Jade, perhaps I am just trying to relive our glory days," he commented as he looked around for where she was going to strike at him next. Both of them knew it was a lie, but perhaps it would bring her a moment's hesitation to give him an opening.
Pulling another arrow out of his quiver, the archer tried to predict what her next move was going to be. She wouldn't waste anymore stars on him because he would be expecting them. Running wasn't something she did unless the odds were stacked against her, and at the moment they really weren't, which meant that she was going to do what she did best. Cheshire was going to sneak up on him and try to take him out quickly, which meant that he was going to have to do something in order to prevent her from doing that. Her popping up on cue happened again, but this time he was too late to dodge it.
'Let's see. You all over me, blade at my neck and a rooftop. Sounds like our first date," stated Red Arrow as his hands dropped to his sides. Of course, there was going to be one alteration to how things went the last time, and this brought a smile to his face as he thought of what was about to happen. For a second, he wondered if Jade realized her mistake, and if so, had that been her intention all along. Either way, he was going to make his move before she did something to stop him, and things were about to get messy in a hurry.
Dropping the arrow in his hand, he counted the seconds in his head as it fell. "Of course, you probably should have disarmed me before hand. Might have avoided this," Red announced as the arrow hit the ground. A second later, it exploded into a blob of highly dense polyurethane foam that engulfed the two of them, and if he wasn't at risk of getting foam in his mouth he would have made a joke about he was just trying to give them something cozy to snuggle in.

"Shi-" Jade said as soon as she realized what Roy had up his sleeve, she took her blades away from against Roy as she tried to jump back in time but she was not quick enough. The arrow erupted and while Jade was able to get a few steps back she was still mostly stuck in the foam and with the stickiness of it Jade knew that the more she struggled the more she would be trapped. "Well isn't this cozy" she snarked, using her hand that was free to reach into a pocket of her outfit and grabbed a small detonator and tucked it away in her hand...would come in handy later. "If you wanted to cuddle Red all you had to do was ask." The best thing to do was wait for this stuff to harden before she made her next move so why not stoke the fire a little while she waited?

As they became surrounded by the foam, Red Arrow now knew what Brick felt like when he had been engulfed way back when, but this had been the only way to slow Jade down enough so they could do something other than throw sharp projectiles at each other. Of course, it would have worked better had he grabbed a second arrow that could get him out of this foam in a few minutes, but there were other things to worry about at the moment.
Shaking his head while it started to settle, he gave himself some room to talk, so that he could respond to her question. ”Last question that I asked didn’t go over so well with you. Figured that I should just take action this time around, so that you wouldn’t get the chance to say no. So how have you been< Jade?” Now they would just have to see what her move was going to be.

"Peachy" Jade answered as she moved her arm to a more comfortable position while she still could. The stuff was almost hard now but she still had to wait a few more minutes until it was just right for what she was about to do. "Don't tell me you're still mad over that?" She really hated doing this to him, she did...she knew she did and part of her hoped he did too but it was necessary and Roy didn't leave her a choice.
Good thing for her that hurtful and sarcastic words were something of a specialty of hers.
"So what did you have planned Red? Did you think you could just try to talk to me again, convince me of the error of my ways and get me to give myself up?" almost there...the foam was nearly hard. She needed to make quick work of this, after all she still had a job to finish.

Jade’s sarcasm was easily noted by the archer, but it was a nice change of pace to their more serious talks. Of course, it wasn’t like there hadn’t been a few of those serious moments that were quite pleasing to him, but those had involved a few crazy nights that had led to Lian’s birth. ”You know, I was mad about it, but with each arrow I put into a member of the Shadows it starts to subside. I think by New Year’s that it should be about halfway gone,” he retorted. It was his hope to get a rise out of her so she would make a mistake, but it might just piss her off enough to use her sais on him.
In truth, his plan had been to mess up her mission and try to place a tracer on her in order to keep tabs on her for a while, and if he were lucky then she would quit when it became clear that her job was no longer going to be an easy task. ”Actually, I was thinking of staging an intervention of your closest love ones, but that seemed like too much work to find more than three people to try and knock some sense into your head.”

Roy was such a idiot! Did he not realize what he was doing? Oh sure, he probably thought he was doing something good or that he would win but he was wrong and he had no idea how difficult he was making things or would make them if he continued on this path. ”Glad to see you picked up a hobby” Jade shifted her hand around that was holding on to her little escape plan slightly. ”I’m surprised you could find three.” Once the small device was in place she pressed the center button and a high pitched noise came from somewhere on her person. The noise was murder on the ears but It emitted such a high frequency that the hardened foam began to crumble around them.
As soon as she had enough give Jade freed herself, busting through the bits of hardened foam that didn’t want to give right away and she tucked and rolled away once she was free. Right away Cheshire looked to the window where she had her gun set up, she could see the lights on in the room that belonged to her target which meant that they were in there and that her window of completion was closing. ”I really loved the little chat Red but, I have work to do.” Reaching to her belt Cheshire removed a smoke pellet and threw it at the ground. As the plume of black smoke filled the area around them she used the cover to move her way back toward the gun and picked it up once she had, taking aim.
If she could just get this done then she could play with Roy like he wanted and beat some sense into him. Something that was becoming more and more appealing as this night went on.

”Well, it took some doing, but you know that anything is possible these days.” It was a silly retort, but this entire thing was silly. They were dancing around each other like birds during a courting ritual when they were supposed to be fighting, and he was beginning to wonder if he was going to be able to take her down or not. After all, imagining an action was one thing and carrying it out was another, and as much as he told himself that she was a criminal she was also still his estranged wife and Lian’s mother which meant something. That was when the noise started, and Red Arrow’s ears felt like the Liberty Bell was ringing inside of them. Then he felt something jar loose, and he knew what Cheshire had done. Shaking himself out of it, the hardened foam gave way so that he could move, so he quickly recovered himself and loaded an arrow. Sadly, the smoke cloud was impeding his vision, and thereby making it impossible for him to stop her from taking the shot. At least, that would have been the case if it weren’t for the fact that he had trick arrows at his disposal. ”You aren’t the only one with a job to do, Jade, and getting you alone was only half of mine,” he stated as he fired the arrow. Normally, he would need to know what he was aiming at in order to hit it, but this particular arrow was different. It broke apart into three rockets that slammed into the side of the motel, and if he was lucky then they had hit empty rooms. If they didn’t, then at least he knew that it was going to cause mass chaos that would provide a nice cover for whoever she was targeting.

Cheshire reached her gun and quickly picked it up and took aim, she had to be quick before he recovered from the smoke or else this would drag on longer than it needed to. Picking up the rifle Jade pointed the barrel toward the window she had been targeting when she heard the sound of missiles flying through the air and saw them out of the corner of her eye head toward the hotel. As the small rockets made impact the exploded, causing a rain of glass and brick to rain down on the street below Jade couldn’t help but smirk to herself.
Well, that worked too.
Roy probably thought he had been stopping her but really he had just finished the job for her, she needed to send a message and taking out part of a building sent a pretty good message. It was a bit more than what she had expected but it worked all the same. The sound of sirens not far in the distance meant that the police would be on their way soon followed shortly by helicopters and other big toys that she didn’t feel like messing with tonight. ”You just don’t know when to quit do you?” Jade said while tossing the gun aside, turning to face her husband and drawing one of her collapsible swords from her belt. ”You’re in over your head” Jade waited a beat before she continued ”the League doesn’t take prisoners Roy. Walk away while you still have the chance.”

There were several comments that he could have made in response to her statement. For instance, quitting wasn’t in his vocabulary or quitters never win, but the truth was probably the best think that he could come up with under these circumstances. ”I already did, Jade. Back when I decided to do this is when I decided to quit letting outside forces dictate how my life is going to go,” he stated as he loaded another arrow. In a straight up fight, he was probably going to lose, but they were fighting with words while trying to hold back their emotions. Taking that into account, there was a chance for him to at least get in close.
”Aren’t I always?” He had to smile as he delivered the quip, but her comment that came after about the Shadows not taking prisoners didn’t make him stop smiling at her. Even with her sword drawn, she was telling him to get out before he got hurt, which meant that she still cared. ”I’m sorry, Jade. Walking away just isn’t an option for me anymore, but don’t worry. It is only a matter of time before my plan gets to the next stage,” he said as he lined up his target. All that he needed was that one opening that would grant him the best move possible to save Jade from this life, and it was only a matter of time before the Shadows gave it to him. He just had to be patient.

”I’m sorry, Jade. Walking away just isn’t an option for me anymore"
Idiot! A irresponsible, dumb, idiot with a death wish. He had no idea what he was bringing upon himself, no idea and if this was how it was going to be then so be it. As much as she loved Roy she was going to do whatever it took to protect Lian. He was not giving her any other option and if things kept up like this then she was going to have to kill him. But, maybe if she hurt him enough to put him out for a while he would get the hint.
"Suit yourself." She said simply before lunging at him on the attack, swinging her sword and then jutting it toward his midsection.

Hoping that she might not attack him might have been too big of a leap of faith on his part, but he was trying to be optimistic. That was the only reason why he didn't instinctively fire at her when she charged him. Of course, reflexes saved him from getting swiped across the gut as he released the tension on the bow to use it to deflect her sword stroke, but now they were close quarters so it was time for him to fight like a monk. "How far into this dance are we going to go, Jade?"
Dropping the arrow on the ground, the archer gripped his bow like a short staff and attempted to knock the sword out of her hand. Once he had her disarmed, then they could work toward completely subduing her so that he could take her somewhere that she wouldn't be able to cause any more trouble for anyone.

"You decided that when you came here" she answered. He wanted to know how far this was going to go? Well now he was going to find out all because he couldn't leave well enough alone. Jade kept at her attacks with her sword, the metal clashing with that on his bow but now that they were in close quarters she could speak a little more freely. "If you would have just stayed away then none of this would have happened but you forced my hand Roy. They are watching." Maybe now he would understand, she hoped so because short of spelling it out for him she didn't know how else to tell him to back off and leave this be. If he didn't then one of them was going to get hurt and she was more than sure it wouldn't be her.
Bringing her sword back after he deflected it again Jade decided she needed to change this up a bit, there was still the getaway she needed to make before it was too late. Spinning and couching down Jade swept her leg at Roy's feet and removed one of her poison tipped shuriken from her belt. If he wasn't going to stay down then she would put him down for a while. As she kicked his feet out from under him she was quick to pin him down. Straddling his waist Jade pinned Roy down with one hand while the other held the small weapon in the other, bringing the tip of one of the blades to the side of his face. She didn't press forward any more but kept it as a close enough distance that any movement would cause the blade to cut him and the toxin to enter his body. It wouldn't kill him but it would put him down for a bit and that was what she wanted.
