Agreed terms? From what he knew about it, Jade had gave Ra’s Al Ghul a favor in exchange for information on the real Roy, which essentially meant that there hadn’t been any exact terms discussed. Of course, it was sort of ironic that Jade’s deal had been to get Roy off the Shadows’ backs, and when she had been called in to pay up it only led to him being right back on the trail. Talk about coming full circle in the most obvious of ways, but that was kind of pointless to mention to the woman in front of him who couldn’t care less what he had to say on the matter.
”While my intrusions may have been annoying, I think that the two of us know that if I were really seen as a threat to the Shadow’s then more than a few lackeys would have been sent to stop me. Ra’s does have many friends after all,” he retorted. Even sending Jade at him seemed like a bonehead move for someone like Ra’s, who had to assume that the encounter would have played out with neither one of them dying. ”But I have to admit that you are right. Jade and Cheshire are two sides of the same coin that hasn’t decided which side needs to be face up, and I am scared that there is a chance that Cheshire will be what she chooses.” His hope was for the former, and while he knew that it wasn’t going to be an easy choice Roy had something on his side that could tip the balance.
Locking eyes with the woman in front of him, his stare was almost like a challenge to her very words. ”But there is one thing that gives me hope.” He remembered when his life had been in a tailspin that would have ended in his certain doom, but there had been one thing that had turned it all around for him. Sure, finding Arsenal had stopped his crusade, but it hadn’t given him a reason to live once again. No, it had been something else that sparked the fire in him to build a better life. ”When our relationship was left as nothing more than memories, Lian gave Jade a reason not only to save me from myself, but that little girl reminded her of what it means to have a real family.”
”So yes, Jade is an assassin, but she is also a mother who would do anything to make sure that little girl has the best future possible with both of her parents there.” Finally lowering his aim, Roy was more reassuring himself than arguing with the woman in front of him. Lian had been his lifeline, and she was going to be Jade’s in the end. ”For that reason, Jade will come home to her actual family, and anyone who tries to stop her is going to find more than arrows being sent at them.”

Safira sported a huge grin beneath her balaclava as she listened to the retort of the crimson archer. She got the feeling that her words may of unsettled the hero just a little. Safira loved to do that, almost as much as impaling an arrow through a target. ”If you truly believe what you said, then do what will ensure Lian grows up with both parents”. Safira paused for a moment, letting out an exasperated sigh as she felt as though she was starting to sound like a broken record. ”Stay out of the League’s way”. It was best for all parties concerned. He had only been a detriment to Jade’s work. ”I don’t want Lian to grow up without her father”. Safira said, with more of a solemn tone to her voice than usual as she looked towards the archer without blinking once. ”Not sure being known as the aunt that killed her father would be a good look for me”. She added with a faint smirk beneath her balaclava. Roy was most likely unaware of the fact that Safira had been to see Lian. She had joked with Jade at being the ‘badass’ aunt, and while for now it was best for Safira to keep away from the little girl. That wouldn’t last forever. Safira had seen glimpses of the future thanks to Jinx, visions that included Lian, grown up and asking for her help. It seemed almost guaranteed that Safira would cross paths with the archer in the future, maybe under friendlier terms.
”You should know that I don’t want to have to kill you”. Safira spoke as she turned to look away from Roy with her back to him. Something in the distance had caught her eye, plus she knew that he wouldn’t try anything. She wasn’t his enemy, not in this moment at least. He had to know that. ”I don’t want to do anything that would hurt Jade”. She continued, folding her arms across her chest. ”She’s like family to me, like an older sister”. Safira had no-one apart from the League, and within the League there had been no-one she had grown more attached to than Jade. It was evident by tonight’s proceedings. She had defied Ra’s Al Ghul by not putting an arrow through the archers heart, and why? Because Jade. ”But if you force Ra’s hand, then I’ll have to”. She could defy him once, but twice wasn’t an option. It would see her killed. ”And you can’t fire arrows quick enough to stop me”. She added with a shrug of the shoulders. She was yet to see an arrow or an archer that could better teleportation.

”While I appreciate the fact that you don’t want to kill me, it doesn’t change the fact that I don’t like you or what you represent,” he said rather curtly. The woman in front of him was just another assassin that put his family in danger and the first face that he would find if something should happen to Lian or Jade, which he assumed that she realized at this point. ”And if you want to keep pretending to use the title ‘aunt’ then you might want to try to be the ‘aunt’ who just doesn’t kill. Taking lives for any reason isn’t setting a good example.”
From his perspective, this conversation was hitting a cycle of threats, both subtle and direct, which meant that they were wasting time. In doing so, they were providing whoever was following his would-be assassin time that would be adequate enough to come to some conclusions about what was going on, which wasn’t good. If this woman was truly on his side, then it would probably be best that they stop their bantering and move on to what she was going to tell her master and associates about what happened after the arrow exploded, but mainly he wanted to make sure that his part in this false tale was believable.
”Speaking of your master, how are you going to explain to him that you failed to kill me? If you are as good as you say you are, then he probably won’t believe that I just eluded you,” stated the archer as the grip tightened on his bow as she turned away from him. Past experience told him that when someone looked vulnerable then they usually weren’t, and he wasn’t going to be someone that was caught off guard. Still, it was very tempting to just pull an arrow and at least immobilize her, but this was neutral ground at the moment so he refrained from doing so. ”And I doubt he’ll believe that you killed me without some form of proof.”
There were many possible tales that she could spin that might be believable to Ra’s Al Ghul, but Roy already knew one that would make the most sense. It made sense because it was what would have happened had he not been such an idiot and tried to avoid talking to everyone that he knew about his problems, but he was going to keep from saying it until he heard her thoughts on the matter.

”Lucky shot?”. Safira smirked with a shrug of the shoulders as she stood there in front of him. It wasn’t something that she had much experience in; coming up with excuses. This was new territory for Safira, she was breaking new ground here. She didn’t speak again for a while. An extended pause as she gazed out upon the city skyline from the high-rise roof top they stood upon. It appeared to be so intensely busy, people everywhere littered the streets, with sounds and fumes lifting up into the sky above. It was important to sometimes for you to take a moment and just take in the view. Hong Kong was pretty.
It didn’t last forever. ”It’s simple enough. He won’t have expected me to kill you if the Justice League were to show up”. She said as she unfolded her arms that were crossed across her chest and turned to look towards the hero. Beneath the hood and the balaclava she wore her expression remained the same. ”That’s it, really. He has enough trust in me to believe that”. She confirmed with a nod of the head. Trust was a big part of the League of Shadows, something that is hard to lose. Even in this instance it wasn’t Safira who was defying Ra’s Al Ghul, it was Taylor. ”I don’t stutter, I don’t shake nervously. There will be no reason for him to believe otherwise”. She went on to shut down any further doubts that the archer might have.
”You just need to focus on not getting in Jade’s way”. She added. To Safira her role in this drawn out process was not something to be questioned. She had shown the most ability to adapt. It’s why her bow was not even in her hand, but instead on her back. Now the hero needed to adapt to the situation, and let Jade be to do what she must. ”Can you handle it? Or should I go find Green to help you put on your big boy pants”. She couldn’t resist that one.
