A quick flash of blue light appeared within the twisting metal makeup of the Zeta-Tube as it beamed Connor into the hangar-bay of Mount Justice. He hadn't been here in months. He had been so preoccupied with school and life that he only participated on-and-off now whenever they needed him. So as he stepped inside a feeling of nostalgia washed over him and he started receiving an influx of fond memories of him going on adventures with the Team as well as hanging out with them.
It was something he missed dearly and wanted to get back into completely. But at the same time, he knew he couldn't devote one-hundred percent of his time to it. I mean, how else was he suppose to mature or grow if all he did was fight crime constantly? Even Batman didn't do that even though he was positive ten-out-of-ten times if he had the ability to do that he would. But since he was a mortal he only had so much time in the day to do something, and Connor was the same way even though he was only a half-mortal. Still, with the way the world was you really only had so much time in general to do stuff, unless of course you controlled time or some other over-powered ability like that.
Anyways, he would use this time to get back into the swings things. He wasn't sure who was here or not, but he was anxious to meet anyone. He wondered specifically how Nightwing was holding up (due to Wally's death) since he took it the heaviest, and how the rest of the Team faired. Was Miss Martian still with the squad? The last he heard of her was that she was attending Metropolis University. What about Aqualad? Zatanna? Tempest? Wonder Girl? Impulse? Or should he say Kid Flash II? All of these people's whereabouts were currently unknown to him, but he sure hoped they were here, or anyone really. It would kind of suck if he came all this way here only for everyone to have either quit, went on a mission, or worst... though he highly doubted the latter.

You're insecure, Don't know what for, You're turning heads when you walk through the door, Don't need make-up, To cover up, Being the way that you are is eno-o-ough Music sounded from the kitchen, reverberating off the walls and down the corridors as the young Martian danced about ponytail swinging and bobbing as she grooved to the music of One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful. Her gear was set off to the corner, M'gann having arrived a little earlier after Chear practice had started on dinner as soon as she got in. She knew the others would start to trickle in soon with the smell of her cooking. Although M'gann had her own apartment in Metropolis near the university she was often down here at the cave making meals for the younger teammates. She knew with everyone's hectic schedule getting a good healthy meal in was difficult especially if one did not have the likes of an Alfred around to do that. So M'gann took it upon herself to continue on with the 'tradition' of a home cooked meal for the Team, even if she didn't technically live here anymore. M'gann had Zeta'd to the cave to spend some time with them and check in on everyone; to see how they were doing and well in general just hang out. The Cave was kind of a drop by place for some like M'gann who, had her own place in Metropolis now where she went to school and kept up with her alter ego Megan Morse. Now though she was making a spaghetti dinner equipped with garlic bread, cheesey baked tomatoes, Caesar salad and tiramisu for dessert. Plus these foods can easily be stocked in the fridge for later consumption for the others that didn't quite make it for dinner. After all they all took rounds on patrol and criminals didn't work on a set schedule around meal times. Baby you light up my world like nobody else, The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed, But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell, You don't know, Oh, oh...
M'gann hopped and danced around singing as she cooked her red hair bouncing jovially up and down as she moved and at the same time directed the articles of food ingredients and utensils around the kitchen as she cooked. The young Martian grooving and dancing around the items that were all floating in a similar beat. It almost looked like some strange scene from the Beauty and the Beast where Belle was bombarded with magical dancing silverware and plates all to the tune of Be Our Guest. Only this time rather than that song it was 1Ds What Makes You Beautiful and food items also floated around and then dunked themselves into pots and the likes as M'gann continued to sing and dance around to the music blaring. Her guitar case leaned against the side of the wall by her cheerleading bag as later that night she was going to head out to an open mic being held at a small cafe out near the harbor front of Happy Harbor. But before that time she thought she'd drop by for her usual meal preparations for the Team, have dinner with them and then head out. It was also a great way for M'gann to stay connected with everyone. She always made time for people. Throwing her head back she continued to sing and dance as she cooked the scent of her cooking permeating and floating down the various hallways of the cave beckoning any and all along with the music. You don't know you're beautiful, If only you saw what I can see, You'd understand why I want you so desperately, Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe, You don't know, Oh, oh, You don't know you're beautiful, Oh, oh, That's what makes you beautiful M'gann sang as she texted Nightwing and the other non-resident team members inviting them a spaghetti dinner here at the Cave just in case any of them felt like coming down. M'gann hoped this time they wouldn't be too busy to come down. It'd be nice to have the entire gang here or well most of the gang. Still if any of them could drop by for her famous spaghetti and meatballs it would be great. With the text invitations sent to the Team the young Martian continued to dance around the kitchen and cook. " Recognized: Superboy-B04 " the sound of the Cave's AI was drowned out by music and singing so that its sound was a soft and distant echo over run by a song loudly playing and accompanied with the Martian's voice as she danced and sang along, her hair bounding in her ponytail as she was still in her Bulldogs cheer gear. Baby you light up my world like nobody else, The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed, But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell, You don't know, Oh, oh, Had the music not been playing loudly in the kitchen, had she maybe not been bouncing around to One Direction as she danced around the kitchen while at the same time preparing a meal, M'gann might have heard the computer AI speak that familiar designation. Had she not been jumping about to the song, singing along while objects floated around dropping into a pot of tomato sauce with freshly ground herbs sprinkled in that she was making while the pasta boiled she might have heard him. Knives chopped as she prepped the salad and the delicious smell of baked garlic bread and cheese heated in the oven. Then again she didn't need a voice to announce a person's entrance as the distinct prickle in her mind tugged at the familiar. She felt his presence like she felt any and all sentient beings that entered the Cave only this recognizable feeling made her pause in disbelief because he wasn't here was he? He'd left, hadn't been by since and yet, she knew them all by their distinct presence and mind. M'gann halted her singing and dancing to pop her head out from the doorway in almost disbelief... "Connor?" her voice sounded almost shocked, no not almost, the cadence and pitch denoted definite surprise. "Uhmigosh HEY!" the young Martian greeted eyes warm and smile welcoming as per usual as she bounded over to the young man and gave him a hug of greeting. This was standard M'gann greeting for all her friends and teammates. Actually she was always warm and welcoming even to people she didn't really know yet. some people were wierded out at first by her huggy and physically friendly nature but this was M'gann, take her or leave her she'd still be the same genuinely warm and friendly self. A simple glance back into the kitchen and her telegraphed thoughts turned off the music that was blaring so now there was like this almost heavy weight of silence. "Hi stranger. It's been awhile." she said still casting him a warm smile regardless of the fact that they hadn't seen one another in a long time. She still treated him like he hadn't left at all. " Are you down here for a visit?" she asked before doling out her standard hospitality. " I was making dinner for the team and well whoever decides to showa up really...it's Spaghetti and meatballs..." there was another bit of pause of uncertainty before she concluded. " You can join in with the rest when they come..if you want."

Connor continued walking through the base undeterred until he heard a considerably loud sound blasting from the kitchen followed by the flood of a mouth-watering aroma which only meant one thing. M'gann was here. Had he had a superhuman sense of smell he might have been able to pick up on the different ingredients M'gann was using within her cooking, but since he didn't it all culminated into one sweet smelling aroma. And he didn't need a superhuman sense of smell to tell that it smelt good. Her cooking was always good. It was one of the things he missed among plenty of other things, especially now.
Connor had grown to love food and had he not have any self-control his mouth might have watered just from being within smelling distance, but he composed himself and wandered towards the kitchen. Not to mention, even if M'gann hadn't been cooking it was typical of her to blast her music insanely loud. He remembered always getting into arguments when they use to work closely together on missions or when they previously dated. It was one of his pet peeves, but as he mellowed out throughout the months he just learned to accept it like everything else. It meant that she was being her and that was what he came to love, at least at the time. But like with all things, nothing lasted forever and they parted ways until he came back.
So as each individual beat, hook, and lyric passed through his ears he smiled. He was glad to see that she still dropped by the base even though she was busy likewise. That's when he saw her poke her head around the corner to see if it was really him, and then sprang forth like a lion on its prey to hug him. He couldn't react fast enough, or at least he didn't make an attempt to when she hugged him. He was happy to see her after all.
"Hi stranger. It's been awhile." she said still casting him a warm smile regardless of the fact that they hadn't seen one another in a long time. She still treated him like he hadn't left at all. " Are you down here for a visit?" she asked before doling out her standard hospitality.
"Yeah, it has," he smiled. Had this been a year ago he might have had to force that smile, but now that he matured it was becoming more natural. "I wanted to pay a visit since I haven't been here in a while. Are any of the others here?" He looked around for a brief minute. It didn't seem like it.
She then paused. He could feel the uncertainty in her voice. "Yeah, I'm starving. What's for dinner?" he asks, with a larger smile. She would find that he had changed somewhat. I mean, he was still somewhat awkward, shy, and out of touch with the more modern aspects of society, but at the same time he was now more direct, bold, and somewhat confident. So he didn't hesitate when she asked him. He was starving! His soft blue eyes almost immediately settled on the food. "Wow. That looks amazing," approaching the counter with admiration nestled within his blue orbs.

It was a reflexive reaction when she acted, didn't even think about the fact that she had gone in and hugged him; didn't even register the act until she was committed to it. Oh yeah, Ex, people don't hug their Exes right? Gosh there were so many more rules with humans, ones that made no sense to her. Thankfully though Connor didn't react or pull back in fact, strangely and surprisingly to the Martian he actually seemed genuinely glad to see her. Maybe it won't be so weird after all. She thought as she smiled warmly at him when she slipped away from him after their brief hug and jokingly called him 'stranger' commenting on how long it had been since they'd seen one another.
"Yeah, it has," he smiled and M'gann's smile broadened. Had it been a year ago she would have been privy to a to forced smile, but something had changed in Connor. It was subtle but M'gann could see it, could sense it. He had matured, becoming more natural with and confident in his actions and the genuiness of his smile actually made him cuter if that were at all possible. Not that she'd tell him that. That also went against the rules when it came to Exes.
"I wanted to pay a visit since I haven't been here in a while. Are any of the others here?" He looked around for a brief minute. It didn't seem like it.
"No, I'm sorry. Not yet." M'gann answered. "Some are out on patrol, you know how that is and well the others will be coming in after their jobs or school and stuff. I texted everyone about dinner so I guess we'll see who shows up. Though I kinda want to tell them all you're here just to sweeten the deal on them coming." she suggested. "You cool if I let them all know you're here?"
She then paused a moment and with uncertainty invited him to stay for dinner too. She hoped he didn't sense her uncertainty but sadly, he did and M'gann could tell he knew yet he did the unthinkcable; he agreed.
"Yeah, I'm starving. What's for dinner?" he asked, with a larger smile.
A year ago and M'gann might have only gotten a grunt and shrug or a 'Whatever' as an answer, but now a year later and Connor seemed a bit more direct, bolder with more confidence this tie to answer her. The young Martian smiled back at Connor and lead him into the kitchen where she'd been cooking.
"I made Spaghetti and meatballs, with Caesar salad, garlic bread with cheese, and Tiramisu for dessert. But there's a pot over there of the vegetarian sauce cause you know some people don't eat meat...do you still eat meat?" she asked. Hey it was a totally legitimate question since he's changed a bit in persona maybe his eating habits had too. "But if you've gone full vegan I might have to scrounge around to make you something cause I think they use eggs when they make pasta so uhm...yeah."
Internally like a mantra M'gann was pleading with the human gods for Connor to not be vegan, just this once. She asked.
She did though like that he was more sure of himself around her and he didn't hesitate when she asked him to stay for dinner. He was starving she could tell from his reaction to the food which was a good thing. His soft blue eyes almost immediately settled on the food before he exclaimed. "Wow. That looks amazing,"
M'gann couldn't help but giggle at his reaction as he approached the counter with admiration nestled within his blue orbs. He was certianly much more forthcoming with his words, it was nice actually. "I'm glad you like it. I've gotten better over the years and I don't burn cookies anymore." she joked as she moved to set the table. "Gosh I remember the times only Wally would eat my cooking, burnt cookies and all..."
Her smile faltered a little at the mention and the memory of him. She missed Wally, and just like the rest of them, his loss pained her even still but then her look shifted to a soft contemplative look of fond memories. "I'm sorry...I still miss him." she said softly her arms wrapping around herself.
"He was always my number one fan when it came to my cooking though for the life of me I never understood why." she said smiling softly. All these years and all this time of knowing them and the Martian never clued in to the fact that Wally had once crushed on her. She just always thought him very supportive of her cooking that brought more of a small smile at the remembrance.
"You wanna help me set the table?" M'gann asked hoping to change the mood and the topic. She didn't mean to bring up Wally, it just sorta happened as a natural progression triggered by memory. It was a good thing though Artemis wasn't here for that slip. That would have been worse.
"The plates are in that cupboard. I'll get the flatware." she directed Connor as she glanced over at the folded over table cloth only to have the fabric suddenly flare seemingly of its own accord and settle gently on the table. The Martian then looked over then used her telekinesis to bring the silverware to her so she could help with the settings.
"You look good-I mean well..." ~Oh my God M'gann!~ she internally chastised herself. It came out all wrong. ~Not what i meant, Not what I meant!~ she wanted to say but she couldn't get her mouth to open at this moment she was too mortified.
She didn't mean it in the pervy 'you look good' way, she meant it in the, you've been taking care of yourself and doing well kind of way. Of course Connor had no way of knowing what she meant and really he could just go back to thinking her a spaz. ~uhg I suck. I suck I suck I wanna die~ she thought to herself as she turned away to grab some napkins and fold them into a fancy way as she placed one on each setting. She was meticulous and loved to make things look perfect and right out of some magazine; table settings included.
"So what's new with you?" M'gann asked finally thinking it safe to open her mouth once she trusted it to not be a spaz. "What have you been up to?"

The Boy of Steel's facial expression briefly shifted into one of understanding as M'gann provided him with an explanation for everyone's absence, and then inquired shortly thereafter for his consent on announcing his arrival in the hopes that it would entice the other members to come. Well, of course. It didn't bother him in the slightest. He didn't stop by to just see M'gann after all, although he also wasn't opposed to sharing a meal together alone. He had to do it a lot of times in the past, especially when they weren't assigned or called for a mission. Lots of awkward moments...
But thankfully, today was different.
"Yeah, go ahead. Who knows.. you might be able to get the Boy Wonder," a soft smile spread across his lips. Lord knows that man was hard to get in contact with, and rightfully so. The death of Wally had impacted the entire team, but it had impacted him the most. As a leader, your responsibility was to ensure the safety of your team while maintaining focus on the mission, but Wally died. Granted, it wasn't his fault, but Connor could see see why he'd feel guilty. Not to mention, they were the best of friends too. They were about as close as Batman and Robin. But Connor had been made aware of the effect that Jason's death had on Bruce, so he could only imagine what Dick might be going through even though it wasn't his fault at all, which was all the more reason to get him. The dude could do with a dose of familiar faces and a home-cooked meal.
Lucky M'gann was cooking...
"I made Spaghetti and meatballs, with Caesar salad, garlic bread and cheese, with Tiramisu for dessert.
Mmmm... that definitely made his mouth water, but he controlled himself. "Restrain yourself Connor... restrain yourself.." If there was one thing he learned abroad was that you needed to your time and enjoy your food, especially a good meal. I mean, it wasn't going anywhere (except his stomach), so why rush? That's when she asked him if he had converted to a vegan. Had he? Last he checked he was still a meat eater. It wasn't like he could gain weight anyways. Connor was stuck in a perpetual muscular-athletic build. Nothing short of a krypnotine poisoning or exposure would change that.
"Last I checked M'gann I still eat meat," he chuckled.
However, as she recounted her old memories he couldn't help but frown again. Regardless of how many times it was brought up it was still sad. "We all miss him.." he smiled, "I'm sure he would have loved your cooking now more than ever." Connor was sort of surprised how she hadn't noticed that Wally initially had feelings for her in the beginning. It was obvious, even for him. But M'gann remained oblivious to it throughout. It was sort of sad given the situation they were in, which made him wonder how things might have turned out had M'gann fallen for him instead of Connor. Then again, Wally didn't seem to ponder on it for long. Sure, he was disappointed but given a few days he was back to his old self and flirting with every girl in sight till he met Artemis. So perhaps it didn't matter since Wally wouldn't have preferred it any other way.
"You wanna help me set the table?" M'gann asked hoping to change the mood and the topic. She didn't mean to bring up Wally, it just sorta happened as a natural progression triggered by memory. It was a good thing though Artemis wasn't here for that slip. That would have been worse.
He quickly shuffled those thoughts away, and refocused on the food. Or rather the table...
"Sure. Where are t-..." It was like she read his mind, but not really. It was just a common question to ask when directed somewhere. Connor went in the direction of where she pointed and grabbed the flatware. He then walked back over and neatly began placing them around the table till he was at his last one.
His gaze lifts from his last plate to her when she started speaking, appearing as if she was in mid-sentence completion when she suddenly span around in what appeared to be embarrassment. H-huh? A curious brow was raised. What was wrong with what she said? It wasn't till a few seconds later that he realized how that might have sounded.
He laughed.
He literally laughed.
Had the world come to an end?
It was feat that was deemed impossible. People literally thought he had a permanent scowl on his face and was incapable of emotions. But as time had passed he became more astute and aware with emotions. Things that he might have found odd and weird a year ago he now finds funny or hilarious. "You look good too, M'gann," he said, offering her a wink afterward to show that he understood. He wasn't going to be offended or creeped out by something so silly, at least not anymore.
"So what's new with you?" M'gann asked finally thinking it safe to open her mouth once she trusted it to not be a spaz. "What have you been up to?"
What was new with him? Well... a lot of things. She saw the first half - just being more comfortable with himself. The next bit? School.. "I started back at Metropolis University two months ago after traveling abroad for the second time. This time I visited France and the Czech Republic. I conversed with so many of the locals while staying there and even got some to take me around, even to the Eiffel Tower. It was an incredible experience. Perhaps you or the team can join me some day," he says, looking across to her again as everything on the table was set in place. He wasn't sure how she would feel about that, especially being alone with him. Perhaps he should have just said the team? What if she got the wrong impression? Ah, screw it. New him, right? "Don't apologize or make it weird..."
A brow raised. "What about you?"

Many would suspect that anyone within the Wayne household, especially an adopted son to have it easy in life. If only they knew, it was a hectic ordeal all around. Whilst there were plenty of perks, nothing outshone the fact that there were many, many late nights and very early mornings. This was very much the case for Tim, often finding himself out in Gotham at Bruce or Barbara’s side, never returning to the Manor until the early hours of the morning. Then came school, it was always an early start. Really, Tim would prefer to skip school for private education instead. But everyone, Alfred included, seemed to want him to go to school despite the often busy night life.
School is where Tim had been today, Brentwood Academy. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but on some days Tim found himself completely drained of energy. As after accounting for the late nights, active nights, early mornings, x hours of school… you then have to add the after school activities. For Tim, that was soccer. He was pretty good really; one of the star players for Brentwood Academy’s team, yet no-one cared. It was soccer, who even watches that? Well, Alfred did on occasion. Such an occasion was whenever Tim’s team reached a final, so an opportunity for a wager appeared. Other than that though, no-one seemed to care. Suppose he had another career path if the crime-fighting doesn’t work out…
Tim had been playing at a match after school today, a game in which Brentwood won 3-1 against another local school. He was walking up towards the Manor. His hair a mess, shirt untucked, tie stuffed into his pockets and blazer hanging out of one of the duffel bags slung over his shoulder. As he got closer, he could see Alfred up ahead, waiting at the front door. Soon as he got within a good distance, Tim called out. ”Hey, Alfred. Have you seen my phone at al-“. Tim found himself cut off as Alfred threw Tim’s phone towards him, to which the Boy Wonder caught. ”Yes, and you’re having dinner at the Cave”. Alfred said as he closed the door to the manor behind him. Tim waited a few moments, and the door opened again. ”…master Tim”. Alfred said with the door open a tiny bit, closing it after. It seemed Tim wasn’t wanted, or needed in Gotham. An exasperated sigh due to Alfred’s antics, and Tim turned around… now a walk to Gotham’s zeta tube.
…
Recognized; Robin - Bee. Two. Zero.
The sound of the Cave’s AI as Tim appeared, having beamed from Gotham to the Cave’s hanger bay. Of course, Tim hadn’t been granted entry into Wayne Manor, and therefore remained in his untidy Brentwood Academy uniform, just great. At least he dropped off his duffel bags – so the team was saved from the smell. As Tim stepped off the Zeta tube, immediately his nose was met with a waft of what was cooking; spaghetti – been a while since he had that. With that clue, Tim began making his way towards the kitchen, which seemed to be the meeting place. At least that’s where he could hear the mumbled voices in the distance coming from, becoming clearer and louder as he approached.
”Heyyyy, what’s up?”. Tim said as he entered the kitchen area. He knew best from experience not to step into the kitchen, so therefore he moved over to the small sitting area, leaping over and onto the couch. Tim propped his feet up onto the small coffee table as he turned his head back to look over towards the two elder heroes. ”You know, Alfred loves you cooking these meals… couldn’t wait to get rid of me”. Sometimes Tim wondered whether Dick ever had to put with Alfred’s shenanigans like this… most likely.

"I started back at Metropolis University two months ago after traveling abroad for the second time. This time I visited France and the Czech Republic. I conversed with so many of the locals while staying there and even got some to take me around, even to the Eiffel Tower. It was an incredible experience."
M'gann listened to Connor as he talked about having travelled to France and the Czech Republic. It sounded amazing and incredible and she was proud of him for taking that step and getting out and talking to strangers no less. It seemed he had come a long way and she had worried about him for nothing. Connor was fine, he was more than fine he was growing to become the man she knew he could be. Of course she did kind of envy him for getting out there and doing way more adventurous things than she did, but mostly she was proud of the things he'd done and accomplished. It was a pretty big deal in M'gann's mind.
"Wow France and the Czech Republic?!" M'gann said in that almost dreamy like fascinated way. "It sounds exciting and amazing all those castles and amazing old historic cities and Paris OMG Connor you were on the Eiffel Tower? Was it as beautiful as it is in the pictures? Did you got up there at night? All the pictures I've seen of it I love it at night with all the lights and the cityscape in the background. It must have been breathtaking. I'm so jealous of you right now. I've always wanted to go to Europe." she confessed with utter excitement for him.
Then he said something that surprised her a bit as he looked across at her again as everything on the table was set into place. "Perhaps you or the team can join me some day,"
Did he actually just say with her or the team? She didn't expect him to say anything like that so she probably sounded a bit surprised. Then common sense hit her and she figured Connor was just trying to be polite.
"Uhm yeah, that'd be great! I'd like that." She smiled. "I mean if you want to but don't feel you have to just cause I said I've always wanted to go and it'd be awesome if the rest of the team came too. We should plan it and ask them."
Then he turned the tables on asking about what she had be up to. "What about you?"
"Well nothing as exciting as you." M'gann replied feeling just a little self-conscious for not having anything exciting really to tell him. "I've mostly been training with my uncle, I still cheer and I'm on the squad at Met U too. Try not to be surprised." she joked before continuing.
"Uhm...nothing really huge for me, I uh, I did learn to play the guitar so I've kinda taken to playing at a few places like the Blue Moon here at Happy Harbor; just you know open mic stuff really nothing big. I've also been working with mixing songs and playing around with making my own mashups...I kind of wanna try my hand at DJing so I've been working on playing around with mixing and stuff...uhm yeah that's in. Nothing as exciting as your life though."
Yup some how recounting what she'd been up to seemed much less fun than his and really she was usually the 'fun' one. Well regardless she was happy for him and proud of him all at the same time. she was about to say something else when Tim came to join them.
”Heyyyy, what’s up?”. Tim said as he entered the kitchen area. And M'gann noticed how he moved over to the small sitting area, leaping over and onto the couch thereby deftly avoiding her usual hug of greeting. That's ok though, m'gann thought to herself. I'll get him with a sneak hug later.
"Tim!" M'gann said with a bright warm smile "You're just in time for dinner."
M'gann watched Tim as he propped his feet up onto the small coffee table and turned his head back to look over towards her and Connor. ”You know, Alfred loves you cooking these meals… couldn’t wait to get rid of me”.
That elicited a chuckle from the Martian. "I should invite Alfred for dinner one of these nights too. I'm sure a night off from serving would be a nice reprieve for him. He works hard, the man deserves a bit of a break." she said starting to think out loud as she considered that the man who took care of the Wayne household needed someone to for a moment take care of him or in the least let someone else cook for him. Hmmm it was definitely a thought.
"How was school?" she asked Tim starting up the causal conversation. "Did you want to join us for dinner?" she asked motioning to the table setting.
