*Telekinetic Weapons: Ember can use her energy to construct weapons, which can only be used by her. Typically she uses a bow and arrow, which can cause physical or mental damage. However this ability can only be used when she is concentrated, and any distraction will cause this ability to deactivate.
*Telepathic Illusions: While not a very easy power to control, Ember can make herself seem invisible or appear as someone else. This takes a great amount of concentration on her part, and it is nowhere near mastered. She can keep up the illusion for a limited time, usually a very short time span.
*Telepathic Tracking: Ember is able to sense when others are around her, as well as track their location. She is only able to track people in a small radius, and cannot track people who escape those limits.

*Her eventual uniform will consist of a black body suit without sleeves, the top looking like a tank top. She has white fingerless gloves that go past her elbows, and a thin strapped belt around her waist. Her feet are covered in knee high black boots with a white upward pointing arrow designed on them. Ember also wears a grey hooded cape that falls a little below her waist.
DESCRIPTION:
• 5’ 5
• 125 lbs
• Dark brown hair
• Blue eyes
Ember doesn’t like to stand out, and prefers plain and comfortable clothing. Jeans, boots, and light colored tops are her favorite, along with jackets and scarves in colder weather. In warmer weather she’ll wear tank tops and shorts, decorating her wrists with bracelets, though she will choose regular shoes over flip flops. She likes to keep her hair down and with its natural curl, or pulled into a braid. She has a secret love for makeup, and it is rare to see her without any on.

Fear: Without a doubt, she’s afraid of not being accepted, and having no one truly care about her.
Desire: Ember wants nothing more than to reign in her powers and find out who she is now. She no longer is sure of who she’s supposed to be with her new abilities, nor how she will ever fit in with the rest of the world. She wants a place to call a home and associate herself with instead of always being on the run. She would even like to have a friend or two, though she knows for her it would be a struggle.
HABITS: If in a conversation with multiple people, Ember can forget to reply as she is too busy thinking and listening to others. She narrows her eyes when someone questions her, only until she can come up with a response. She also tends to judge quickly, and it can be hard to change her opinion.
PET PEEVE: Underestimation: Ember cannot stand when people assume that she is weak, or that her boldness is a bluff. Although she is not the strongest, she believes she can stand up for herself well enough. She also hates when people cut her off while talking, as she wants to say everything she has to before someone else speaks.
STRENGTHS:
•Physically Fit: Ember has been athletic her entire life, and is in great shape because of it. She is very quick on her feet and has a decent amount of strength.
•Involvement: Ember is not afraid to get involved in conflict when she deems it necessary for her intervention. She will gladly stand up for herself and those who are in a bad situation, regardless of the consequence to her.
WEAKNESSES:
•Influence: Ember tends to let people's feelings or agendas become her own, especially if she is within a group of people.
•Distrust: It’s hard for Ember to get close to people, because she expects the worst from them. This has kept her from making close relationships in the past.
TRAITS: Ember is not hesitant to speak her mind. She makes her intentions and opinions clear, and tries to cut off confrontation at its roots. She avoids speaking much of herself unless someone pries, and only gives in if she thinks the person can be trusted or is genuinely trying to help. Rarely does she act on impulse, except if she feels threatened or a passion for something or someone. If she meets someone and cares for them, she will protect them and will gladly stand up for them. Depending on the criminal she can seem to be a bit merciless when fighting, and gives a battle her all.
Ember is friendly, in a laid back sense, to those who treat her kindly, and unfriendly to those who don’t. She doesn’t tolerate rudeness, towards herself or people she cares about, and won’t put up with anyone who tries it with her. She can be sarcastic, though it usually doesn’t show unless she’s facing criminals or someone she isn’t fond of, but she can be playfully sarcastic with those she is closer to. If betrayed, it is extremely hard to gain her forgiveness. Ember is able to hold a grudge, and hers tend to be strong ones.

HISTORY: Ember was born in Metropolis in 1998 to Lisa and Robert Bowman. Her father was a businessman and her mother an artist, who lived in a spotless and seemingly perfect home. Ember spent her first four years as an only child until she was joined by her younger sister. The early years were full of typical child antics and enjoyments, Ember living in a tiny bubble of innocence that was never disrupted. She did well in school, participating in many sports, and always busy with some new interest.
The older she grew, however, Ember realized there was some sort of disturbance between her parents. They didn’t talk as much as they had before, and if they did it was usually with harsh words or a sarcastic response. Ember tried to ignore that this was happening, pretending that her family life was just as perfect as most assumed. She kept up the charade with her friends, but as her teenage years progressed so did the bitterness between her parents.
Marriages fell apart, Ember knew that. What she didn’t know was just how negatively it would affect her life. When the real fighting started, Ember could barely stand to be around it. She delayed going home as much as possible and threw herself into sports, taking on as many practices as she could handle while balancing school. When she finally did return home it was always to some argument that she desperately tried to tune out.
The stress of the fighting started to take its toll on Ember, who rarely slept well and was witness to countless insults. It was during one particular fight during dinner that things got out of hand, about to turn violent. Out of fear Ember reacted and yelled for the fighting to stop, and in the process sent plates and glasses flying in multiple directions. Incredibly no one was hurt and everything ground to an immediate halt due to pure shock. While the incident seemed to be solely centered around Ember’s doing, the family said nothing about what had occurred. They simply picked up the broken pieces and stayed quiet.
That was what fell over the family; quietness. Ember noticed that she was suddenly a lot more powerful than before, and her parents and sister were all wary of her. Attempting to ignore the change, she ascended through her high school years as well as possible, all while her parents filled out the details of their inevitable divorce. Ember practiced her newfound abilities in her sports, discovering that she could move objects at her will. She refrained from using this during real games, but during her practices she toyed with the power, careful to not draw more attention to herself.
At home, that was a harder feat to accomplish. Ember would often send things flying on accident, causing more than a little damage to their home. When she finally graduated high school, her parents were more than glad to send her off to college and Ember was more than glad to leave. During her freshmen year of college the Reach and Darkseid invasion occurred and Ember did her best to keep her abilities to a minimum. When their defeat happened, Ember expected her life to tone down.
Unfortunately that was not the case. When LexCorp Meta Research Center was unveiled, Ember’s parents were able to come to an agreement on one thing; Ember needed to be sent there for help. The argument that erupted from that was expected, Ember refused to be a part of what she deemed a ‘research project’ just because she was different. She didn't believe that she needed help, and didn't want to stop her life for something she'd been handling on her own for quite a while. Her parents, angry at her defiance, were determined to have their way. They cut off funding Ember’s education, saying that she could return to college once she had treatment.
But Ember refused to meet their demands. She took her life into her own hands and did the only plausible action she could think to do; she ran away. Taking only necessities, Ember fled Metropolis, wanting to put as much distance between her hometown and herself as possible. On her route she ran into another group of teens, all who were on their own. She joined up with them and kept her powers a secret for a period of time as they travelled. It was when they were attacked by a group of thugs that Ember had no choice and revealed her abilities, using them to throw a dumpster their attackers’ way and allowing her and the group to escape. She braced herself to be exiled by the teens, but was surprised instead by their easy acceptance. From then on Ember became the group’s guardian, their main protector against anyone who tried to harm them.
As a joke the members of their group began to call her Plight, due to her literal unfortunate circumstances. The name stuck, and Ember used it as a codename between her new friends. Eventually the group made it to Harbor City, and found that they weren’t the only runaways that had arrived. They set themselves up in the city together, away from the common eye. Ember took up a job, working enough to support herself but trying to not be noticed by many.
Ember is currently residing in Harbor City, and trying to gain a greater grasp of her powers.

“I know you’re lying to me,” Ember said in a rather playful tone, hands on her hips. She eyed her coworker with half a smirk on her face, clearly waiting for the truth to come out.
Her coworker, a girl a few years younger, sighed and threw her hands up in defeat. “Fine, I wasn’t actually sick on Friday. But come on, you always say how much you need a nice paycheck. Covering for me couldn’t have been that bad.”
“It wasn’t,” Ember agreed, picking up a few books from the back of the storage room. She’d taken up residence in the small town recently, and though she didn’t intend to stay for long she needed some source of income. There were a few job openings at local restaurants and convenience stores, but those places had an influx of people, way too many for Ember to handle. Luckily for her she had found a place among the staff of a small bookstore and café. It was never very crowded and almost as quiet as a library — at least when her coworker, Sarah, wasn’t talking.
“I’m a teenager,” Sarah said, as if it explained everything wrong in the world. “There are things I want to do while I’m young.”
“There are also things your coworkers want to do,” Ember reminded her and gathered multiple copies of a book into her arms. “But we’re stuck covering you on the weekends.”
Sarah pouted, in a childish manner, but Ember looked back at her with a level expression. The younger girl broke quickly and sighed, “Okay, fine. I’ll come in all this weekend. Happy?”
“Pleased that you’re starting to take some responsibility,” Ember corrected, taking the books from storage and out into the store. Sarah trailed on her heels, carrying her own stack of books over to the shelf as Ember continued, “As much as you are a teenager, soon you’ll be an adult.”
“Not all of us are nineteen and live on our own,” Sarah said, pushing away other volumes to make room for new ones.
Ember shrugged at that, unable to explain her predicament. It wasn’t exactly a normal situation; then again she had begun to question normality months ago. She carefully set up the copies in her arms on the display, adjusting the sign behind them. Behind her turned back, the bell to the store rang as someone entered. Immediately Ember froze as a dark sensation came over her, and she swallowed hard. Daring to turn her head, she saw a man wander over to the history section, scanning the thick hardcover volumes intently.
He looked like the average civilian, jeans and a long sleeved shirt, glasses perched upon his nose. But Ember could feel the darkness coming off of him. She didn’t know what he had done or what he was planning to do, but she could feel his presence starting to get to her head. Shoving a stack of books into place, she turned to Sarah and said as calmly as she could force her voice to sound, “Why don’t you help him out? I’m going to do inventory in the back.”
Sarah frowned slightly and nodded, though a look of confusion made its way onto her features. Unfortunately, Ember didn’t have time to come up with an excuse. Being in a place with so little people allowed her to let her guard down, and she had not been prepared to rally her mindset against darkness. She turned on her heel and walked, fast paced, back to the storage room. The more distance she put between the two of them, the more her mind began to clear. She leaned back against a free section of the wall and took a deep breath, putting up the mental barrier she’d been developing lately.
It would help, Ember knew that. But it was tiring having to worry about others sparking her powers; she couldn’t let them influence her so easily. She ran her hands through her hair, closing her eyes as she exhaled through her nose. How am I ever going to control this?
ANYTHING ELSE?
*Ember’s powers take on certain a light blue color.
