Despite the dirty work Komand’r performed for the Light, she had come to realize that she had made out well on Earth so far. While the work itself was rather tedious at times, and sometimes seemed like pointless death and destruction, she wasn’t inclined to complain about the job. Committing the Light’s crimes was a small price to pay for the rather luxurious perks she received. A place to stay and free reign to spend her time as she pleased was worth settling their problems.
She wasn’t quite living like royalty, not that it had ever served her well. Yet the position she had, mainly her involvement in the Shadow Squad, worked for the conditions of her stay. She was lucky enough to be based in Las Vegas, perhaps one of the most exciting Earth cities she had come across yet. She had come to the conclusion that the most interesting humans lived within the city boundaries, which made them even more intriguing to observe. Kom may have learned the language through a few flirtatious encounters, but it didn’t teach her much about the culture. That was why she opted to make use of her time away from carrying out the Light’s orders by participating in the night life herself. Learning by experience seemed to be the best method.
It was also her favorite method.
Kom had situated herself by the bar at the club, sitting on the stool with one leg crossed over the other. She had positioned herself so that she wasn’t facing the bartenders, but the sea of dancing bodies that moved under the kaleidoscope of colored lights. The music was loud, hammering into her ears so that she could barely comprehend her own thoughts. Perhaps that was why humans gathered in places as packed as this; they quit thinking altogether and acted on instinct.
Or maybe they just let their desires take over, Kom thought to herself, smirking slightly. Though she had taken a corner seat, it hadn’t stopped others from looking her way. She was naturally a marvel for humans; they were surprised by her height and complexion, easily catching their eye. Tonight however, she had showed up in a tight red dress, one sleeve fitting all the way down her arm. Heels were strapped to her feet, a decoration instead of a boost of height that she really didn’t need. The extra effort had only increased the glances thrown her way if she was spotted.
Kom had not acted on any of them, though the temptation was always present. Best to wait, best to let someone approach her if they dared. Observation was the route to take, for now. The night was still young after all, and as long as she wasn’t called in for a mission she had all the time in the world. A man’s gaze met hers across the room and she flashed him a devious smile. He responded with a similar look, but turned and went the other way.
Peculiar, but not unexpected. Humans acted so strangely when the tension was high. Kom lifted her drink from where it had been sitting on the bar, the alcohol a liquid gem. She brought it to her lips, taking a sip before lowering it as her eyes continued to scan the room. Company would come for her, in that she was certain. The only question was who the night would throw her way.

Another day, another dollar, or so that was what she had been told. She and Tula had been assigned a task of paying a little visit to one of Lex’s underlings. Someone that wasn’t listening and falling in line like they were supposed to, someone that needed a little reminder of who was in charge and what the price was for not doing what you were told. It was not exciting work. Siren did all of the talking, Nightshade was there really just if things needed to take a more direct approach since the other girl was always reluctant to get her hands dirty like that.
Once everything was settled and taken care Nightshade was left wanting. Ever since coming to this planet there had hardly been a day that wasn’t full of some kind of excitement and she would be damned if doing a simple errand was the highlight of her night. When they arrived back at Sanctum Nightshade tried getting Tula to come out with her to which she (surprise, surprise) declined. All well, her loss.
Changing out of her work clothes Nightshade slipped into something more suiting for the night Chooseing a outfit she threw on a pair of elbow length gloves and was on her way.
There were hundreds of bars along the Vegas strip and a few that she had yet to be too and while that seemed like a good option for maybe later in the night Nigthshade wanted to stick close to home for now. Luckily for her there was a club very close to the Shadow Sanctum that was a favorite hunting ground for most of the Squad and that was where she would start out her night.
Entering the club Nightshade looked around, there was so much potential in the crowd tonight but she wanted to scope out her prospects first. Get a lay of the land so to speak before she made a move and one of the best ways to do that was to get a good spot near the bar so she could watch the floor. Making her way toward the back of the club where the bar was Nigthshade moved her way through the crowd, slinking her way like a snake through the bodies when something caught her eye.
Sitting in one of the bar stools was Blackfire.
The Alien princess was someone Nightshade felt herself drawn too. They had a lot in common and there was something about the Tamaranean that caught Nigthshades eye more than anyone else so far on there little team. The two had not spoken very much outside of the job but now that she was here and alone it looked like gave Nigthshade that chance to see if her small crush was well placed.
Walking up to the the empty seat next to Blackfire Nigthshade slipped herself in ”Looks like I’m not the only one on the prowl tonight.” She spoke while leaning her side along the bar.
(meh, sorry it sucks)

Boredom had begun to set in, causing Kom to let her gaze wander curiously over to the dance floor. Though there had been a few potential companions that had approached the bar, none had made their way to her, clearly out of caution. She knew that her stature itself was rather intimidating, but as she was no illusionist, that was not something Kom could adjust to suit the humans’ preferred vision. The lack of interaction had started to disinterest her with the club, and she was considering moving on and exploring another part of the Vegas Strip.
”Looks like I’m not the only one on the prowl tonight.”
Kom turned her head at the voice, recognizing the tone. Her violet eyes fell on Nightshade, who, without hesitance, took a seat next to her, joining Blackfire at the bar. Kom’s eyebrows rose ever so slightly, just enough that it would only be caught if someone was studying her face. The lull in Blackfire’s mood vanished and was replaced with her former intrigue. She hadn’t expected to see any of the Shadow Squad members, but she was open to Nightshade’s company. Suddenly the night had experienced a much needed revival.
It was starting to go much better than she had originally planned.
“A free night should never be wasted,” Kom replied, resting her arm on the bar counter. Despite being on the same team, Kom had not interacted with Nightshade outside of the job, with no more than a few brief comments to her fellow ally. She had nothing against the other alien girl, but had chosen to keep her communication with the Squad simply concerning business matters. It had not occurred to her that she could speak to Nightshade on more relaxed terms, or at least one without a violent, whirlwind battle atmosphere.
Komand’r tipped her head in the direction of the crowd of dancers. “Though they aren’t as entertaining as I thought they’d be.”
She straightened then before raising a hand to signal a bartender—one that she favored—for Nightshade. If Blackfire was going to take a stab at conversation at any point with the other woman, this was the time. Surprisingly, she welcomed the opportunity. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around this place before. Unless our individual…job schedules don’t match up when you’re here.”

"A free night should never be wasted"
Nightshade couldn't agree more and a small smirk crossed her lips, she knew there was a reason she was attracted to this girl and wanted to know more. Sure, she got along well enough with most of the others but Safira and Ravager were usually always together doing something, Inertia was good; she and him got into a lot of trouble out on the strip, Siren was well, Siren and Match and Jager...No. Just no.
But, there was something about Blackfire tho that spoke to Nightshade, she had a savageness about her, something that only came from growing up on a war planet. It didn't take much to see it, it was in the way she walked and carried herself, the way she fought. She presented a challenge that no one else on the squad did and Nightshade always liked a good challenge.
“Though they aren’t as entertaining as I thought they’d be.”
She turned her attention to the dance floor and looked out over the crowd. They seemed pretty into it to her but maybe Blackfire had been expecting something different.
"Humans rarely are, you just have to stir things up a bit."
As the bartender came over Nightshade ordered a mixed drink and turned back to her new friend. "It's possible, but I have my spots all up and down the strip, usually don't stay in one place for very long...things tend to get a bit stale otherwise." Not to mention it was easier to pick off people that way if she didn't have a pattern on where she went to every night. 'What about you? I think this is the first time I've seen you outside the sanctum, come to take in the sights?" Her brow went up slightly as she nodded at the crowd slightly. The sights were usually very, very good in her opinion.

When Nightshade looked back to the crowd, Kom kept her eyes on the woman, scanning over her profile. Admittedly, she had only briefly observed her team members when she’d first met each of them, and she didn’t often see Nightshade out of her battle gear. The first time she had seen the woman, Kom had wondered how such a small figure could pack a decent punch. She’d gotten her answer one mission later, and since then Kom had not questioned the girl’s strength. In fact, she realized, that was just about all Blackfire really knew about the other alien.
"Humans rarely are, you just have to stir things up a bit."
Kom liked the sound of that. “Luckily I am rather fond of causing trouble.”
When Nightshade turned back to her, Kom didn’t bother moving her gaze away. She wasn’t sure if the woman had felt her watching, but Blackfire wasn’t bashful about it by any means. Instead she raised her head ever so slightly as Nightshade spoke.
"It's possible, but I have my spots all up and down the strip, usually don't stay in one place for very long...things tend to get a bit stale otherwise."
“Wouldn’t want to have slim pickings,” Komand’r answered, her eyes glinting. She’d seen Nightshade’s powers in action, and it was clear from her body language that she used her own alien beauty to her advantage. That was something that Kom could admire.
“What about you? I think this is the first time I've seen you outside the sanctum, come to take in the sights?"
“I’ve stayed close to home base,” Blackfire clarified, running her finger along the rim of her glass. “I thought I’d adjust to this new role.”
Kom let out a sigh, leaning back in her seat. “But the sanctum is dreadfully boring. I thought that between humans and people who thrive off of crime the latter would excite me more.”
She let her eyes wander around the place as she continued, “However, I’m finding that although humans tend to be cautious of me, they are intriguing nonetheless. They know how to enjoy themselves, clearly.”
The only reason she had been a bit disappointed was because they were cowardly towards her. Though she couldn't completely blame them, she'd expected someone to approach her. Having attention was something Komand'r couldn't help but want, though Nightshade's attention was currently much more appealing.
Her eyes landed on Nightshade once again, mischief gleaming in her violet orbs. “I can imagine the fun you must have toying with them.”

As a purple drink was set in front of her Nightshade dug her hand into her pocket and removed a small flask and began unscrewing the cap. What earthlings considered to be alcohol did nothing for the alien, it was weak and she only drank it for the taste but, thanks to having friends (or employers) in high places Nightshade was able to get her hands on some alien liquor which she carried around with her when she wanted a little something more than what the bar drinks could give her. With the cap unscrewed Nightshade held it in her hand as she poured a decent amount of the flask contents into her drink, that would give her a nice little buzz and given how her night was looking now she wanted to be ready.
The looks she had gotten from Blackfire had not gone unnoticed but Nightshade wasn’t sure exactly what to make of it, at least just yet. Perhaps she was just sizing her up. After all she was a rival alien and being that they hadn’t seen much of each other outside of the squad maybe Kom was just trying to figure out what to do, weighing her options.
Of course, if it was something more than Nightshade would be fine with that too. “But the sanctum is dreadfully boring. I thought that between humans and people who thrive off of crime the latter would excite me more.”
They all have their…quirks. Most of them don’t know what to make of the others and so they avoid conversation all together. I think its stupid, if you’re going to be on a team you need to have a little ‘fun’ with each other every now and then. She left what kind of fun up to the imagination
She knew most people went by the strict rule of keeping business and pleasure separate but Nightshade was not one of them. She had had her fun with a few members of the Shadow Squad already so maybe this was her chance to get to know the Princess on a more ‘personal’ level. It was too early to tell tho and she wanted to see how this night played out first before jumping right in.
Once she had her desired amount of liquor added Nightshade held out the flask and offered it to Blackfire should she want it. ”I’m told it comes from Raan. Not quite the same as what they had on Apokolips or Tamaran I’m sure, but, it does the job. “ Nightshade waited to see if she would take it. Most people were hesitant to take anything from her given her powers, which is why she wore her gloves to make others around her feel safe and made her seem less of a threat. It was another way she played her game.
“I can imagine the fun you must have toying with them.”
A smirk crossed her lips, oh yes, this would be a interesting night ”well, stick around princess and have a few drinks and maybe you’ll get to see, who knows..maybe we can even have fun together.” Nightshades brow went up slightly as she let the innuendo sink in ”these humans wont stand a chance.”

“Yes,” Blackfire responded, watching as Nightshade poured the contents of her flask into her drink, “getting to know one another can be quite useful. Brings a little something…more to the group.”
She certainly enjoyed Nightshade’s thinking; it was a break from the stoic, following the rules type of personality she was used to seeing. A little adventure never hurt, and in their line of work there were multiple ways to go about that. As hesitant as she could be with the people she was surrounded by, reaching out to them wasn’t completely off the table. If the options were there, well Blackfire was a person of opportunity. It would be foolish to let that chance drift by.
Kom looked at the flask as Nightshade held it out to her. Given her abilities, it wasn’t unusual to wonder if it was okay to take her offer. Kom, however, wasn’t that worried. If Nightshade really wanted to poison her, there was a much easier way of doing it. And considering her personality and fighting style, Komand’r was certain that she wouldn’t be handling it by simply offering her a tainted drink. No, Nightshade had her methods, and Kom didn’t think she would want to kill the fun before it really got started; not that she had reason to poison her anyway.
She smiled slowly and met the alien’s eyes as she took the flask, her fingers brushing Nightshade’s gloved hand as she did so. A sign that she wasn’t nervous, and perhaps a gesture of something else; Kom left it up for interpretation. “If it gives a little spice this water, I can’t complain.”
Pouring in her amount, Komand’r then handed the flask back to Nightshade, swirling her glass slightly. At the alien’s comment her eyes seemed to flash with mischief, and Kom laughed lightly before her lips curled into a smirk. It sounded like a challenge, and if Kom thought she would be leaving anytime soon then her plans were completely rearranged now. “A few drinks? Then we better get started. Leaving would be a mistake. The fun is only just beginning…and I’m sure there is a lot you have yet to show me. You can lead the way.”
Whether that was how she found entertainment with the humans or what else would come after this night, well Komand’r was intrigued and ready for whatever situation she found herself in. Of course, she would wait for Nightshade to decide which would happen, and when it would. She was content with making conversation until the alien would introduce her to her fun; Komand’r was surprisingly willing to allow Nightshade the control. Until then, she’d try to get to know her companion. Kom lifted her drink as she spoke, “Such a shame we haven’t truly met until tonight. So tell me…what does a woman like you want in this world? It seems to be your playground, after all.”

As their hands brushed Nightshade smirked slightly. Oh this was going to be a great night, she could already tell. "Anything is better than what they consider alcohol on this planet." Nightshade took another drink as she tried to size up the woman in front of her. She was attractive of course, had a sense of power about her and like Nightshade herself had just enough differences to the humans around them that gave them a mysterious and exotic vibe. Things that could give them a winning edge if used correctly and on the right person.
“Such a shame we haven’t truly met until tonight. So tell me…what does a woman like you want in this world? It seems to be your playground, after all.”
The comment itself seemed harmless but Nightshade did not know this woman well enough to just lay out all her plans and desires. Those were better left unsaid for now. "I want what we all want: money, prestige, power...and of course the fun we get to have isn't all that bad." What about you? What is a girl like you doing on a planet like this?"

A simple answer, but it was not unexpected. Komand’r didn’t plan on revealing all of her wishes at the feet of attractive company, not today or any other day. Nightshade had good reason to keep her secrets, and Kom agreed with that concept. Besides, a little mystery made every situation a little more suspenseful; it added an element that Blackfire liked to the moment. Komand’r sipped her drink, grateful for the alien alcoholic addition that Nightshade had provided her. It gave her a moment to think, though Komand’r knew what kind of answer she would give.
She placed down her glass and ran her finger along the rim. “It’s simple, really. I want a chance to be someone else.”
That was partly true; it was nice to be on a planet where not everyone was against her, and she could retaliate against those who didn’t like her presence. Someone who could gain allies and have them by her side to take back Tamaran, someone who could find loyalty in a sea of possible choices; these were all that she had not been able to have on Tamaran. And just by being herself, not trying to be anything different, well Blackfire could gain a lot of power that way, and have enough fun to satisfy her too. She looked at Nightshade with a smile. “Whoever I want to be, whatever I want to be. This planet allows for that sort of enjoyment. There is a sort of power in that.”
Blackfire then shrugged a little, “I suppose a princess already has whatever she could possibly want, but…”
And then the smile returned, if not a little more devilish, “We all have our desires that can’t be simply given to us.”

"Interesting." Nightshade said before taking a sip from her drink, using the time that provided to think on what had been said. Who could a princess from a warrior planet like Tamaran be if not herself? What a odd notion. Nightshade would never want to be anyone else than what she was, even with the horrors that she went through it was all helped shape her into the her that was seated here and she liked that Nightshade. Blackfire wasn't some kind of bleeding heart looking for redemption, was she? Nightshade took a good look at the woman across from her as she tried to picture it. No, that wasn't it..and if it was then the princess was in the wrong line of work.
"Why would a princess want to be anything else?" Her curiosity was too much, she had to ask. "I don't see very many people saying no to you, and with a pretty face like yours you could get anything you want with no problem or hesitation. "

Komand’r hadn’t thought Nightshade would want an explanation on her statement. It was a bit strange, Kom knew that the comment didn’t sound genuine coming from a princess. If she had been the same as her sister, the problem wouldn’t even exist. But that was what always set the two apart; Kom was never destined to be the sweet, obedient daughter. Fate had allowed for something else instead, a nightmare on Tamaran that wouldn’t ever end. Blackfire smiled, a slow and mischievous one, as she said, “A cursed princess has no power.”
The way she said it indicated that Kom wouldn’t be answering any questions that came from the comment, not right now. Perhaps if she got to know Nightshade a little more then she’d open up about what exactly that meant. For the time being, it would remain simply as that. Kom tapped her fingers on the bar lightly, thoughtfully, and then spoke again to Nightshade. “There’s no greater annoyance than acting like an ideal, sweet princess. The stereotypical royal daughter that is beloved by her people. I gave that façade up a long time ago.”
Been there, tried it, hated it. Komand’r was surprised she hadn’t given up the attempted charade sooner. She then smirked, “I’ve always enjoyed being the opposite, and I rather like myself this way. However, Tamaran dislikes anything different. Anything I want there will have to be taken by force.”
A half-hearted sigh left her, but there was nothing sad about the way Kom looked; she only appeared to be inconvenienced with the situation. “It’s quite a pain when others try to make you into something that you’re not. Not like they would ever succeed in that venture. I prefer to prove just how bad I can be.”

Nigthshade had picked up on the tone Blackfire had given her, the tone that said that she was done with that conversation. No one liked to open up too much because even if you gave a person the tiniest bit of information that could be used against you they would run with it and try to hang you. It was a smart move on the Princesses part even if Nightshade was a little disappointed, she was wanting to know more about her company but...she also did enjoy the chase.
I prefer to prove just how bad I can be.
The other alien smirked "now there is something we can agree on." She said devilishly while picking up her glass and holding it out for a cheers. "Why don't we go show these humans how its done?" There was much trouble and fun to get into in this city she wanted to see just how this princess worked.

Blackfire smiled deviously, her eyes glittering at Nightshade’s response. Now this was where the night became a thrill, an adventure worth the wait. She raised her glass, her smile slipping into a smirk as she said, “You have the right idea. To us, and the ones who don’t know what’s coming.”
A light clink against Nightshade’s glass followed, and then Blackfire downed the remainder of her drink; alien alcohol was not to go to waste. Despite her calm demeanor, Kom was eager to see where their plans would take them. Nightshade seemed like a woman full of surprises, and Blackfire was ready to experience the way the other alien lived out her nights. Would they draw their victims from the pool of those in the club? Would Nightshade prefer to find their entertainment elsewhere? There were many possibilities, and Kom wanted to see just what the other alien would choose. Setting down the glass she then stood, flipping her hair over her shoulder and looking to Nightshade. “Lead the way, party girl. I’ll be sure to not step on your toes.”

Nightshade threw back the rest of her liquor and slammed the glass on the bartop before sliding off the stool and leading the way into the mass of people on the dance floor ”Follow me”. As she walked Nightshade started to move to the music, her hips and arms swaying in an almost serpentine way as she entered the crowd. It didn’t take long for her to catch someones eye..a twenty something man with dark hair and a hard body who was dancing with some tiny blonde but his eyes were not on the woman who was hanging all over him.
The alien waited a moment for Blackfire to enter the mass of bodies and once she was close she snaked her way over to her friend and began dancing with her just to entice those around the two women more. ”Find someone that catches your eye and then we’ll have our fun.” Nightshade drew close and whispered to the other woman. She didn’t know how Blackfire felt about randomly killing and if she wasn’t up for that then there were plenty of other things they could do with their prey for the night.

Following Nightshade onto the dance floor, Blackfire caught on quickly to how the alien was going about catching her prey. Kom was sure to give the woman some space as she began, and then joined her in on her dancing. She could feel the looks being passed around from person to person as those near them glanced over, and it took a lot of control for Kom to not smirk in their direction. It was essential that she pretended not to notice…except for when it came to her victim. At Nightshade’ s command the princess smiled in response, then let her gaze wander around the room.
There were quite some options to choose from, and Kom wanted the best choice she could find. There was quite a pretty brunette girl who had her arm around one of her friends, and Kom almost considered reeling her into her trap. However, it was when her eyes landed on a tall blonde, wearing a cut off sleeved shirt that she was certain this was her victim. By the way he moved and presented himself in the crowd, it was clear to Blackfire that he thought he was the king of the room. She would be pleased to show him just how fast a king could realize he was nothing but a beggar.
Catching his eyes for a moment, Kom sent a suggestive smile his way before turning her gaze back to Nightshade, dancing as she whispered with glittering eyes, “Let’s get started.”
