Ra's will even take steps to avoid random violence if possible.
Despite Ra's more admirable traits, he is still a powerful and dangerous villain. Born almost a millenia ago, Ra's has witnessed the rise and fall of nations, and watched the progression of humanity form the medieval ages to modern day. Throughout his experience, Ra's has deduced that not only is humanity a threat to itself, it is a threat to the entire world humanity lives and breathes on. Ra's is primarily motivated by desire to cleanse the planet, and purge the corruption growing in the heart of humanity. Ra's views himself as a hero, and acts with complete conviction in his beliefs.
Ra's possesses a utilitarian mindset, where the well-being of the group matters more than the well-beings of a single individual, though in his case, he believes the well-being of the planet is of utmost importance. Ra's understands that sacrifice is required for the achievement of something great, and is completely willing to sacrifice almost anything to accomplish his goals. Despite his beliefs, Ra's still acts with a high amount of self-preservation, and takes steps to ensure he survives. HISTORY:
Ra's al Ghul was born to a nomadic tribe wandering the Irani mountains in the year 1313 AD. Ra's childhood was rather uneventful, though it was soon clear he was much more intelligent than the rest of his tribe. When he reached adulthood, Ra's left his tribe and travelled to an ancient city in the hopes of receiving an education. Fortunately, Ra's received medical training from a healer, and later became a skilled healer.
Ra's eventually fell in love with a woman named Sora, and married her. His love for her was great, but soon she became sick with an incurable disease. Ra's knew he was unable to save her, so he bEgan searching for someone who couod help him save his beloved wife.
Eventually Ra's met a man who spoke of way Ra's couod save his wife. The mysterious man provided Ra's with a list of near-impossible riddles, that when solved, revealed the secret of eternal life. Desperate, Ra's paid his entire life savings to the man to buy the list of riddles which could potentially hold the key to Sora's survival.
After some time, Ra's was able to solves the riddles, and by doing so, deduced that the secret to eternal life was hidden in a mystical cave deep in the mountains. Knowing the trip would be difficult and dangerous, Ra's approached the prince and pleaded for help. The prince agreed to send a small group of his most loyal and trusted soldiers with Ra's to aid in his journey, but only if Ra's promised to share the secret with the prince.
As expected, the journey through the mountains was long ans dangerous. Sora's condition grew worse and worse, but Ra's medical expertise allowed him to keep her alive until the group eventually reached the location described in Ra's list of riddles. Digging a pit in the cave, Ra's discovered what he would soon describe as the Lazarus pit, a pool of water with incredible restorative properties. Submerging Sora into the pit, Ra's was filled with joy when as he witnessed the Lazarus pit cure and heal his beloved wife.
After receiving evidence of the pit's existence and effectiveness, the prince's soldiers revealed that the prince had ordered them to kill Ra's and Sora in order to keep the secret of immortality intact. The soldiers killed Sora, and fatally wounded Ra's before turning back to return to the prince. As his life bled out and soaked into the sand, Ra's was given the choice between avenging his tragically slain wife, or giving in and dying next to her. Pulling himself into the pit, Ra's chose vengeance.
When Ra's first entered the restorative waters, his mind and body exploded with pain. It was like drowning and burning alive at the same time. Eventually he emerged from the pit fully healed, and actually stronger than he was before. After taking care of Sora's body, Ra's left the cave and began his journey back to the city.
Realizing he alone wold not be able to avenge his wife, Ra's searched for his former tribe. Eventually he found them, and enjoyed a happy reunion. After becoming reacquainted with his former tribemates, Ra's explained how the prince had ordered the murder of Ra's beloved wife, though Ra's left out the specific details surrounding the Lazarus Pit. Eager for a battle, Ra's former tribe agreed to help him avenge his wife's brutal end.
Allying with several other tribes, Ra's and his tribe led and assault on the city. The fighting was bloody and fierce, but the tribesman edged victorious. Ra's himself distinguished himself in battle, and while the tribesman looted the city, Ra's was able to personally avenge Sora's death.
Shortly after the battle, Ra's was approached by Ahri al Ghul, the mysterious leader of the infamous League of Assassins. Ahri explained how the League of Assassins were a semi-secret organization that could be hired to perform assassinations. Ra's himself was offered the chance to be trained by Ahri, and if Ra's survived his training, he would be allowed to become a member of the shadowy League of Assassins. Ra's accepted.
During his training, Ra's left his old name behind and adopted the name: "Ra's al Ghul", meaning "The Demon's Head". Because of his sharp intellect and physical ability, Ra's survived his training and became a full member of the League of Assassins.
Assassination was dirty work, but Ra's was good at it. He murdered dozens of targets, ranging from dangerous warlords to defenseless women and children. Soon Ra's began experiencing frightening dreams, where after his death, he would enter the afterlife only to be confronted by Sora, who was angry at him for failing to save her, and disappointed in what he had become. As a result, Ra's developed a greater than average fear of death. He made a point to remember the location of the Lazarus Pit, and used it whenever he sustained lethal wounds in an attempt to extend his lifespan.
When Ahri passed on, Ra's became the new Granaster of the League of Assassins. It was then that Ra's realized he was a near-immortal man sitting in a position of incredible power. Ra's decided that he would attempt to use his gifts to make the world a better place, and thus, he reformed the League of Assassin's into the League of Shadows. Under his leadership, the League of Shadows became more than just paid assassins. Under Ra's leadership, the League of Shadows became a secret underground group dedicated to fighting crime and corruption.
Centuries flew by, and Ra's continued to cheat death through the use of the Lazarus Pit. He lived through several important historical events, ranging from the Crusades to the Industrial Revolution. Ra's ability to adapt prove useful, and the League of Shadows forged on.
By the turn of the 21st century, Ra's viewed modern society as impure and corrupt. He began to belive that not only was humanity beginning to strangle itself to death, but it was taking the entire Earth down with it. The modern day League of Shadows was still an underground criminal organization dedicated to fighting humanity's crime and corruption, but Ra's needed to think bigger. He shifted the League of Shawdows' focus to include bio-terrorism. At best, he could slow down the destruction of the Earth, at best, he could raise enough awareness and cause enough damage that Earth's corporations would be forced to adopt enviroment ally clean methods.
Time heals all wounds. As he grew older, Ra's shedded his fear of death, and began looking for a worthy successor. He married again, though an incident with the Lazarus Pit caused his new wife to go insane. Through his marriage, Ra's produced a worthy heir and daughter: Talia al Ghul. Ra's hoped that one of his disciples, a young runaway billionaire named Bruce Wayne, would be a worthy husband for Talia, but the Detective eventually demonstrated that he lacked the spine to do what was necessary to save the world. The Detective would later prove to be a dangerous adversary to Ra's, and would thwartany of Ra's plans.
Eventually Ra's joined the Light, hoping that an alliance with other supervillains would give him the edge to change the world. Ra's history with the Light and the Team can be found on his wiki page Here.
After his most recent battle with the Team, a battle that ended in defeat and injury for Ra's, the League of Shadows has disappeared even further below the radar. After healing himself with the Lazarus Pit, Ra's has begun planning his next move, while the League of Shadows is growing more powerful than is ever was before. While the League of Shadows added recruit's and increased its influence, Ra's has spoken with Lex Luthor regarding the future of the Light.

RP SAMPLE:
Steel clashed against steel, causing a distinct metal clang ring across the room. The rapier in Ra's palm vibrated violently, but it's master was not fazed. Immediately after the impact, without giving his adversary the chance to react, Ra's gracefully spun around and jabbed the tip of his weapons underneath his opponent's guard, where it would have effortlessly slid in between two ribs and punctured his opponent's lung, had Ra's not stopped his movement and mere inch away from his opponent's ribcage.
After holding his pose for a second, Ra's noticed the look of defeat in the young recruit's body language. Quick as a whip, Ra's spun back around to face the recruit, sheathing his swodd as he did so. "You are quick and light on your feet", Ra's instructed the young assassin, "But you don't fight with the right mentality. You were merely fighting to not lose, when you should have been fighting to win. I purposely gave you many openings to strike a finishing blow", Ra's instructed the recruit.
The recruit nodded. The disappointment from his defeat slowly dropping off his shoulders. "Thank-you sir. I noticed the openings you gave me, but neglected to strike because your openings seemed to obvious. I feared it was merely a trick, and stayed my hand".
Ra's almost smiled. He had long ago learned that recruits were eager to blindly agree to almost anything he told them, but by feeding them false information, he was able to guide them to the right answer. "You were correct in your beliefs", Ra's answered, "But can you tell me the true reason for your defeat?"
Before the recruit could answer, one of Ra's liutenients rushed into the room. "Sir", the woman began, "Our agents in Beijing are in position, and await your orders".
Ra's nodded and followed his liutenient out of the room, leaving his recruit in the darkend room. Training would have have to wait.
