Boots click against the sterile hard floors of the training room, the sound of her cowboy boots clicking and reverberating against the smooth surface of the training room. No one was in yet, it was empty and silent as Cassie entered. The motion sensors picked up her presence, just as the lights flickered on dousing her in a cold hard light. Moving to a small flat control panel off to the side Cassie entered her parameters. It was cold in the training room and the air crisp, it would change shortly once people started coming in and started training. It always did with more bodies and the heat put out by their movements. Cassie always liked to get in here earlier though; liked it because then at least for a few minutes it was her room, her time and she liked to blast her music loud with no one to comment or complain. So insert her ipod to the docking station and her choice of 'training music' played a two measure drum beat intro by Joey Kramer, followed by an all too familiar guitar riff by Joe Perry. It was a trademark sound and tune that once heard Everyone knew the main riff made famous by Perry and Brad Whitford on guitar with Tom Hamilton on bass. Then enter the rapid fire lyrics of Aerosmith and Run DMC's 'Walk This Way' and Cassie was set. seesaw swingin' with the boys in the school
and your feet flyin' up in the air
singin' "hey diddle diddle"
with your kitty in the middle of the swing
like you didn't care ...
Ok so the words were kind of crass and laden with innuendo that most of it Cassie didn't catch or understand, but hey give a girl some credit the song had a sick beat and a mad hook of a riff. Her lasso flared out as she spun it about at first in a lazy loop in front of her. Some easy warm up circles to get her wrist and arms warmed up, the loop of her lasso increased, growing larger as it moved. She started to jump in and out of the loop and cause the lasso to dance about every which way as she wove herself in and out of it in a controlled twirl. so I took a big chance at the high school dance
with a missy who was ready to play
wasn't me she was foolin'
Cassie made to do a one handed handstand and then hopped up, pushing off from the ground with her hand as the twirling lasso came around her way. Moving through the hoop created Cassie righted herself onto her feet once again. The lasso never once stopping in momentum or arc. 'cause she knew what she was doin'
and I knowed love was here to stay
when she told me to
walk this way ...
The music could be heard muffled from the other side of the training room to anyone coming in and would be greeted by a loud blaring sounds of Run DMC and Aerosmith's Walk This Way as Cassie went through the motions of her routine of lasso exercises that Diana demands lasso whirling about and looping around her as she moved in and out of it effortlessly (or tried to be effortless) Just then the doors swish open and Cassie spots an unfamiliar face. "Oh Hi!" she hollars over the din of rock and rap noise as she continued to manipulate her lasso and gave the new person a wave of acknowledgement. === OOC: Song being played in training room HERE

To say that Ember was used to her new life would be a very big, horrible lie.
When Katt had brought her to the safe house, she hadn’t expected anything like what had greeted her. Martian Manhunter had been enough of a shock, but to discover there was a whole secret base that very few were aware of? It made about as much sense to her as being able to throw things with her mind, but all of the oddities she’d experienced so far allowed her to roll with it. She’d been filled in on all the details, the who’s and what’s and how’s all covered, and given them information on herself. What Ember had thought would just be an interrogation ended up in a decision for her to stay among other teens, and then extended to an invitation; join the Team.
Saying yes to the offer seemed to be the best move, and so she’d agreed. Before she knew it she’d been given a room and access to the base with the promise that she would be safe. Any of the loose ends she had left behind would be taken care of by some of the Justice League members, that way the kids she used to run with would be out of harm’s way. It happened so quickly that it felt too easy. Just like that, she was welcomed into the fold.
Even though some time had passed and she’d had time to take all of it in, Ember still felt like it was all a dream. Waking up in a cave that was undergoing some renovations every morning made her question momentarily if her sanity was still intact. When she was confident that she wasn’t seeing things, she could then move on to her new routine. Which, thankfully, was becoming more and more usual rather than strange. The shock receded each day, even though a lot still caught her off guard.
Like today, as she made her way down the halls towards the training room, she swore that she could hear music. Rock, maybe? Yes, definitely something like that. Ember didn’t typically imagine the training room with music in it; she usually just remembered how many times she had fallen on her back and the bruises that came with it. She wondered if it was a smart idea to enter, but her curiosity won over and Ember entered the training room, greeted by the blast of music. The song choice had given her the impression that she was walking into someone heavy lifting or throwing intense punches.
She had not stumbled upon the idea that it would be a girl with a lasso.
“Uh, hey,” Ember replied to the girl, raising her voice a little to be heard over the music. She watched, half mesmerized as the blonde weaved in and out of her lasso, twirling it in loops and arcs. Ember didn’t think she could jump rope with a fraction of that skill. Blinking a few times Ember called, “Nice moves you’ve got there.”

She probably shouldn't have been playing the music so loud, not everyone had a liking for old school rock and rap but Cassie just found it easier to do her mandatory training with music. It made the boring mandatory routines livelier and ok so maybe these weren't *exactly* the training regime Diana *specifically* gave her but she said she needed to work on her lasso technique and trick roping was kinda that right? It showed control and finesse with a little bit of flash and flare that screamed mostly Cass and very little of the Amazon training. The hardcore stuff would come later, right now she was just warming up and messing around having fun at the same time because why couldn't workouts be fun and exciting right?
The doors to the training room opened and greeted Cassie with a face she hadn't seen around before. Cass had heard when she got back from her time training with the Amazons Themyscira (Diana thought it might "benefit" Cassie to train with her sisters for a while hence her absence from the Team of late) that there were some new faces about, this must have been one of them.
“Uh, hey,” The new girl replied to the Cassie's initial greeting, raising her voice a little to be heard over the music.
~Yeah I should probably turn it down.~ Cassie thought as she finished a maneuver she was in the middle of when the girl entered the room before she stepped out of the looped lasso as she twirled it
“Nice moves you’ve got there.” the new girl had said.
With a sly grin Cassie snapped the other end of her lasso so that it flicked the touch-screen panel on the wall to pause the music. "Thanks!" the young blonde said as she bounded over to the other girl.
"I'm Cassie." she said to the new girl with slightly labored breath as she held out her hand to shake. Her face was a bit flushed from the workout and skin glistened from the sweat she worked up but it was fun. "Sorry bout the music, not everyone's into Aerosmith and Run DMC like I am." she snickered. "Diana says it's an 'acquired taste'. That's her polite way of saying she doesn't like my music." she shrugged nonplussed by it.
" What are you into...uhm I don't think I caught your name." she said with a smile as she reached down to grab her water bottle and take a drink.

The lasso flung out, and Ember jumped at the unexpected movement, taking a small step back. Her gaze followed the line of gold as the girl sent the lasso towards the touch screen and turned off the music with ease. Unintentionally Ember’s eyebrows rose, a small whistle leaving her lips as she stood there, impressed. Whoa. Clearly the girl had had her practice with the weapon, if she could use it like that.
As the girl came over Ember looked back to her, and couldn’t help but feel a little intimidated. Any reasonable person would be, and since this place was full of specially talented and super power-equipped teens, and sometimes adults, she thought the feeling was warranted. Especially when she, who technically was now a super powered teen, did not even compare to the rest of them. It was pressure she never imagined that she’d be under, in any circumstance.
She nodded at Cassie’s introduction, and though still slightly dazed by the impressive show Cassie had made with her lasso, reached out and clasped the other girl’s hand. “It’s okay, I don’t mind. I didn’t expect it to be you listening to it is all.”
Better honest than not, she just hoped that Cassie didn’t take that the wrong way. “I'm Ember. Usually I listen to alternative, and indie. It’s kind of the toned down stuff, I guess.”

The new girl nodded at Cassie’s introduction, and clasped the her hand offered handshake. The young teen smiled brightly when the other girl said she didn't mind the crazy loud music. Still Cassie had shut it down earlier, mostly because it was the considerate thing to do when not knowing other people's taste in music. It was one thing to be blaring it practicing on her own, it was another thing to subject other people to it if they didn't like the tune.
“It’s okay, I don’t mind. I didn’t expect it to be you listening to it is all.” the new girl replied.
A light chuckled escaped Cassie's lips then. "Yeah, it's kinda old school and I think most people here except maybe M'gann, doesn't blare the music in the training room, but then again I'd pick Aerosmith and Run DMC over her Taylor Swift any day of the week."
Then the other girl introduced herself with her name and answered Cassie's question about music. Hey you can learn a lot from a person just from the music they listen to.
“I'm Ember. Usually I listen to alternative, and indie. It’s kind of the toned down stuff, I guess.” the new girl had answered.
"Ember..." Cassie said repeating the name as if sampling it and pondering on it for all of a fraction of a second. "That's a really cool name. Indie stuff is great! Alternative is cool too. I said cool like a ton of times didn't I?" the young teen giggled. "It happens." she then shrugged as she started to loop her lasso back around.
"But yeah I like the Indie Rock and Alternative Rock stuff myself. Hey have you been down to the Black Kat yet? It's this Record store that sells new and used Vinyl LPs. They've got this really cool section of Indie stuff. Not that I'm telling you to ditch training or anything but it's totally worth the trip if you haven't been yet. They even got this cute little cafe that you can chill and listen to some of the music. Anyways, it's worth a look see if you haven't already been." Cassie replied.
Moving over to a punching bag, Cassie decided to do a more low key workout now that someone else was around to 'chat' with. Hey workouts were boring unless you had someone to talk to or music blaring.
"So..." Cassie started as she took a swing at the punching bag specifically weighted for the likes of her and Connor so as to withstand their punches and give her back some resistance.
THWUMP! THWUMP! she struck the bag
"... what's your powers?" she asked as she punched at the bag with focussed intensity. Sure she was training but that didn't mean she couldn't split her time with talking to the new girl. Diana would probably have words about that however the Amazon wasn't here and so Cassie would train the way she wanted to which entailed friendly conversation with the new girl who already sounded pretty cool just from her taste of music alone.

It had been a while since Ember had been around anyone so friendly, and she wasn’t sure that she had ever met anyone so talkative. A half smile came onto her face, her eyebrows raised a little in surprise at Cassie’s personality. Ember had to admit she was a bit amused, but she enjoyed the girl’s friendly nature, despite her intimidating stature. “I haven’t been there, but I’ll have to check it out. Sounds like somewhere I’d want to stop by.”
She watched Cassie start to go at the punching bags, and briefly wondered if she should be doing something other than standing around and gawking. That was what the training room was for after all, training, but she didn’t really want to embarrass herself in front of someone who was levels above her. Observing Cassie only reminded her of what she had gotten herself into, and just how important it was to stay on everyone’s good side.
“What’s your powers?”
“Well…” Ember paused and looked around the room. Spotting some of the weights for the bars, she reached out, a blue glow in her eyes as she pulled a few of them to her. Guiding them around she stacked them in a small pile next to her feet, then dropped her hand. “Something like that. Telekinetic is what I was classified as, but I don’t have it all figured out yet.”
She’d always tried to keep her abilities to a minimum or as secret as possible. It was never easy to make excuses when something went flying for no apparent reason. The only time she openly displayed them was when she was confronted, and even then she didn’t have much of a clue as to what she was doing. “I’ve known that I had them for a long time now, so you’d think it wouldn’t be such a mystery to me.”

“I haven’t been there, but I’ll have to check it out. Sounds like somewhere I’d want to stop by.”
THWUMP! Cassie punched at the bag again with her fist as she nodded to the other girl. "It's a totally a chill place, so you totally should!"
THWUMP! Another punch. "I'll even come with, if you want the company, sometime."
Then as only natural or well as far as natural went with Cassie, the young girl bluntly asked what Ember's power was. It was a legit question in Cassie's mind and for a girl that preferred direct and straight talk over tip toeing and beating around the bush kind of words, she just said what she wanted and spoke her mind for better or worse. Cassie paused in her strikes to hear the other girl out.
“Well…” Ember paused and Cassie tilted her head curiously as the other girl looked around the room., the other girl's gaze landed on some of the weights for the bars.
Then suddenly Ember's eyes started to glow blue causing Cassie to unconsciously take a half-step back in caution until it was she started to see the effect of the blue glow. Cassie's smile broadened to a larger one and she clapped as Ember guided the objects and stacked them in a small pile next to her feet, then dropped her hand. “Something like that. Telekinetic is what I was classified as, but I don’t have it all figured out yet.”
"Well that's cool! Seriously never gets old watching people move things with their minds and not gonna lie ... Totally handy." Cassie replied. "I still gotta walk across the room to grab my milk."
“I’ve known that I had them for a long time now, so you’d think it wouldn’t be such a mystery to me.”
"A mystery?" Cassie punched at the bag again THWUMP! "Like as in you're still trying to figure it out ? I guess it is kinda different than just being really strong or fast. There's not much there to figure out other than how fast or how strong one is...either way your power is cool."
THWUMP!!
