While he continued from what she had left off at Katherine listened and nodded her head in agreement. This was odd..the two of them working together after so long and had his lead been about something else she didn't know if she would be as interested or willing to help him. It was petty she knew but it had been her first true heartbreak when he betrayed them and then finding out that it was just a mission.. Katherine was not very adept or experienced in dealing with such feelings. Not wanting to feel that way again is how she justified keeping everyone at arms length since and it had worked well for the most part. It was easier to keep herself guarded than to let those walls down again.
With Kaldhur here however, things felt too familiar.
As he explained their best option for surveillance she looked at the small building and then to the refinery and she gave a quiet sigh. Not be ideal was a understatement in more ways than one but, he was right. If this was indeed a Light property then the security would be far too advanced for just the two of them to work around even if they tried with a area as large as this they were bound to be spotted and normal means of explaining away would not work. he had a much too familiar face for it to go unrecognized by members of The Light.
Agreed she told him once they had their plan and as he clicked off the image and turned toward the door Katt watched him, tilting her head slightly in curiosity. He expected her to follow him like before. That she would just come without question and know exactly what was expected of her. The worst part was, she did. Katt almost did just follow behind him, her feet had started to move but she willed them to remain where they were. He was not her leader anymore and while he may have precedent to lead on this mission since she was tagging along that didn't mean things were like they once had been.
Too familiar indeed.
He seemed to realize his mistake as he stopped just before her door and turned back to address her. Was he trying to get her to leave this be? Maybe he was too uncomfortable with the situation but too polite to just flat out say. Truthfully, even if she did fear the possibility of a trap and would rather just let this go Katt was not going to let a lead of this nature slip through her fingers. Even with her fears about the people they were investigating and the awkward partner situation "I have waited too long to get a lead like this on that place to not follow it through." With that Katt grabbed the bag of neglected take out and placed it in her refrigerator for later and followed him to the door, grabbing her own jacket and waiting for his lead.
Just like old times...

With that they were off.
He didn't waste time after that and made his way quickly back out the door and down the stairs. He moved with purpose now that they ahd a solid location as he once again wrapped them in the bubble to avoid the rain that continued to downpour as he took off him a jog, not even looking back as he knew that Kat could keep up. Several blocks later they were at the back of the abandoned store front across the street from the location. His eyes roamed upward, not seeing any surveillance in the building itself. He continued making his way around the side to a locked side door. Once thier he held up his hand to Kat moving in a few rapid but silent hand gestures.
Move in, check the surrounding area then regroup
After that he then put his shoulder to the door, busting it open as he moved in quickly his eyes gazing around as he took one side and scanned, to see nothing here but some old car parts and used motor oil on his side. He gave a small sigh of relief and said softly " Clear" He then waited for Kat to affirm that her side was also clear as he fond a window and wiped away the dust to reveal the site across from them. It seemed abandoned, with some simple security cameras around and one or two guards that had then uniforms of rental cops doing some lazy circular patrols. Aquaalad watched one of them yawn as he then returned his gaze back inside toward Kat's section of the building waiting fro her to return from her sweep
So far things seemed alright though he could not shake the feeling that something was off...

Katt followed behind Kaldur, picking up her pace once he started his jog. She liked running, just like swimming it allowed her to clear her mind and right now she needed it and she focused on the burn in her legs instead of the situation she had found herself in. When the made it the few blocks toward the refinery and to the chosen building that would act as their stakeout location Katt kept behind Kaldur'ahm, keeping an eye out for anything that stood out.
When the pair reached the door and he gave his signal she nodded once to show that she understood and waited as he rammed the door with his shoulder. Once the door was open she went in behind, taking the opposite end of the building. Katt moved her way through the old garage, not seeing anything that would cause alarm. When she came to a door she opened it and entered what looked like a office, after checking around and not seeing anything of interest she exited the office and regrouped with her partner for the night. Clear.
Now that that was done Katt rested against a few old boxes next to the window he had cleared and crossed her arms and settled in. This was going to be a long and uncomfortable night. (yay!)

Once the other side had been cleared Aqualad settled into position. and then kept watch. He focused on the guards and watched their movements. He had learned long ago from Nightwing that if you could figure out the guards pattern you could manage to move right past them. without being noticed, which could be useful, becuase despite the decent proximity of their current vantage a closer look would soon be necessary. So he continued to watch letting that be his focus as opposed to the return of the silence between him and his accidental partner Kat.
Time passed, very slowly, as the sun set and despite the close watch the guards pattern seemed to be unusually random. He let out a small sigh of frustration as so far their surveillance had yielded nothing fruitful. However despite his frustration something else about this was bothering him. Perhaps it was the seemingly lax security. While it may seem decent for a standard company this was surprisingly lax for the Light. He stretched a little to keep limber and muttered " Something isn't right."
However it was when he saw the same guard yawn...again, was when it clicked in his head. He then reached for the latch and opened up the window, enough to reach his hand out as he moved it in small circles as he collected a bit of falling rainwater and it formed into a small sphere about the size of a marble. He then lined up his shot, but not before turning to Kat and saying " I have an idea, though if this goes wrong you should get out of here, it may escalate quickly."
With that being said he fired the small water marble at the security guard as it raced towards the guard, he braced himself. However, the marble did not hit the guard and instead went right through the guards head and the guard kept moving.
"It's a hologram." Aqualad concluded

Well, she could cross awkward stakeouts off her list of things to never do again. Katt may have not been much of a talker before but there was a few people she spoke freely with and Kaldur had been one of them once upon a time and there were so many things she wanted to say to him but this was nigher the time nor the place for that conversation. It would distract from the mission and she wanted to get a solid lead on The Light's plans just as much as he did, maybe even a little more. So silence it was unless he decided to break it.
It seemed he didn't as the clocked ticked by with not a word from either of them.
Katherine remained how she was, sitting on the boxes and keeping a eye on the guards that passed them by. She didn't move much, just a slight shifting here or there when she started to feel stiff but after being there for as long as they were she needed to move, her legs were starting to get that tingly feeling and that would be no good should they need to move fast.
Standing from the boxes Katt removed herself from the window area and walked around the room a bit, checking other windows for any signs of suspicious activity but really just stretching her legs and trying to ignore the hunger pains in her stomach. Her forgotten takeout was greatly missed at the moment and now she realized that maybe she should have brought it with her. Just as she was lamenting about what sat in her fridge in a white take out box she heard the man behind her speak. " Something isn't right."
Katherine immediately forgot about her hunger and turned to look at Kaldur'ahm, walking back over to the window and looking out it again. Everything looked the same to her, there didn't seem to be anything out of place since the last time she had looked but she believed him if he thought something was amiss, he was good at what he did after all. As he opened the window and started collecting water thou she may be second guessed what his plan was. If something hit one of the guards then he would give away their location but at his warning that this might go south she trusted him that he was well aware of that. Still, she was not going anywhere
...he did seem to be trying to get rid of her a lot this evening.
Katherine watched as the small water marble shot through the air and she prepared herself for the worst but instead of the guard reacting and looking for the source the marble passed right through him and it all came together for her. "it's a hologram"
"Clever" The Light was full of surprises but now that left them at a disadvantage, if there was a hologram then that meant that they were indeed trying to hide something but figuring out just what would require a closer look and the two of them would lose the comfort of their stakeout location. "We need a closer look" She could fly above it, try to get behind the holographic image and check to see if the coast was clear and it seemed like the best alternative to her instead of just going in blind. "I can get in the air, see what we are up against." She turned to look at him to get his thoughts on it, he was leader on this after all.

The hologram changed things, that meant that what they saw there may not even be, there could be anything behind there. There were very few things that came with neon signs that read danger but this was a close as it got. There could however be nothing else there, if the light felt comfortable enough with a holographic screen perhaps they had figured that it would be enough, after all it had nearly fooled them as well. As Kat made her suggestion, Kaldur considered it. If Kat believed she could do things on her own then he supposed it was time to start showing a little faith. He nodded and said “ Do it, but we should assume that this hologram not only blocks sight but sound as well, so once you pass that barrier there will be no way for me to know if you are in trouble until it is far too late so you are on your own. If there is not immediate threats see if you can find the projector so and disable it without causing too much disturbance then report back so we can regroup and re-strategize” He paused for a minute or two before saying “ If the projector does not come down or you have not returned in ten minutes then I will have to make the approach blind to back you up and we will have to make it up as go from there” he concluded after that steeling himself for the rather impromptu mission that had landed in their lap as he turned to her one final time and said “ Kat….good luck.”

Even if he had not agreed to her plan Katt would have gone anyway, she had to remember that she was not part of The Team any more and that he was no longer her leader, she really owed him nothing. But, it looked like she wouldn't have to walk away from this as of yet as he agreed to her plan. While Kaldur explained how she would be on her own if she went until if and when the hologram came down Katt listened while looking out the window at where the refinery stood, eyes scanning up and down the street to try to get a estimate on just how far the barrier stretched.
'then report back so we can regroup and re-strategize”
"Understood" Katt said to let him know that she had been paying attention while he spoke and she tore her eyes from the window and turned to start her way toward the door while he went on to explain further about her time limit to take out the projector before he came in looking for her. Katherine was confident that she could slip in and out without being noticed or at least without causing too much of a fuss. She was not a master of stealth like the bat kids but she could do ok and she could take a guard down silently..so at least there was that. While she may be confidant in her ability part of her wished she was dressed the part, while she may have not wore a mask during her run as Aquagirl she did now as Hydracat as she had more to protect and without it going in like this felt...wrong but, you did what you had to given the situation you found yourself in.
Katherine was just at the door and had it opened when she heard him tell her 'good luck' which caused her to pause a moment. The young woman twisted around to look back at him and muttered a ”thanks” before she continued out the door. As soon as she was outside Katt zipped up her jacket and took a deep breath. She was a little nervous, this was The Light after all, her proverbial boogyman and it was a little scary to go up against them…even if she was actively trying to take them down she had never been this close before and the fear was not lost on her. Slowly letting the breath out Katt lifted off gently from the ground before hovering higher and higher in the air. Once she was at a good height she headed for the holographic image and turned up once more, trying to get above where the hologram stopped so she could see just what laid behind the curtain. The hologram went high and she couldn’t be certain if she had truly reached it’s edge so once she deemed herself as a safe enough height Katt passed through the false image and into the other side, clicking the clock in her mind. Her ten minutes started now.

As Katt passed through the field, suddenly her surroundings would change from what she had seen from the hologram. Instead of seeing a building there, there was in fact a giant hole where it would have been. A birds eye view would have seen the hole lead down several stories and their were several floors under construction, at the bottom though instead of a ground floor it looked as if it fed directly into the water of the harbor. It became very clearly as to why the hologram was in place, ti looked like there were several underground floors being constructed as well as some sort of secret entrance or exit directly to the harbor. Looking closer she owuld bea able to see that despite the gaping hole in the ground rain seemed to evaporate as it came near the hole indicating either a force field or hidden laser grid that was protecting the opening.
She would also be able to see that closer to the fence their were several high tech canons and sentries that swiveled around in patterns, however it seemed these precautions were mainly focused for a potential ground level invasion as there were no such devices on the high sections of the surrounding buildings. However despite the precautions it did not seem as if there were any physical guards at least as far as she could she. It seemed quiet....perhaps even too quiet.
However despitee all that she saw, the one thing she didn't see was a control panel or some sort of operating platform that ran all of these precautionary measures, but it had to be somewhere, the question was above or below?

Now that she had gotten through and had seen just what the Light was trying to hide Katt had a decision to make: Did she go at it alone or did she go back and regroup with Kaldur? She flew around, keeping in mind to stay far enough above to not draw attention of any passing guards but there didn’t seem to be any. At least none of the surface and if there were they were hiding exceptionally well. In fact, the whole location seemed severely under guarded with the exception of the weapons posted along the perimeter. ..which, didn’t seem to react to her presence which gave them a advantage but if Kaldur came charging in on the ground their location would be given away.
Instinctively Katt reached for her ear where a communicator should have been but instead of touching the small device her finger only felt flesh. Oh yeah, she didn’t wear that anymore and it wasn’t like M’gann was here to set up a psychic link either. She would have to warn Kaldur’ahm about those security measures before he came charging in and gave away their location and took away their advantage but, by her clock she still had a few minutes left before that happened.
Using the little bit of time she had left Katt continued to search the area, making notes of everything she saw and keeping an eye out for something that would help take down the generated hologram.
Nothing.
Whatever was controlling that was probably somewhere underground where the construction was. As her time continued to count down Katt returned back to their rendezvous point, landing just outside the run down building they had been using during their stakeout and stepped back inside. ”We have a slight problem.” She said once she was back in and explained what she had seen. ”If we try to take it by ground we will be stopped, but even if we could somehow bypass those guns the entrance to the underground is protected by some kind of shield. Bypassing that force field wouldn’t be impossible she didn’t think but it could take some time to do and it would be time they didn’t have, not if they wanted to keep their presence here hidden.
But, it looked like there was an entrance that fed into the harbor; we may be able to enter from there.” Given their particular set of skills it would be the best option for the both of them and something that would provide them with ample ammunition should something go wrong. Now that she had said all that she needed to Katherine waited, crossing her arms and looking toward Kaldur’ahm to see what he thought of her plan or if he had anything else he wanted to add.

Kaldur listened to her assessment of what was behind the field as he laid ti out in his own mind once, she had concluded. Kaldur tapped his fingers on the dusty window as he said " I would not assume that the entrance to the harbor has it's own set of traps or safeguards as well. I do not like the unknown element," he paused " however I agree that it is the best option we have, and with luck it will give us more maneuverability if we approach from the water. Remeber though we are going into enemy territory and there are just two of us, recon is still the goal here. Let's move."He said as he quickly moved out, toward the harbor where they could make their approach. One spinning transition later....As they neared a secluded part of Harbor cities many ports, the rain still coming down Kladur looked around and found and empty shipping container, there, he stashed his jacket and took off his shoes as well, as they were about to enter the water and he would need alll the maneuverability he could get. Stashing them someplace dry and then clipping his water bearers two his belt, he waited for Katt to make any preparations she needed before going to toward the edge of the water. He looked at Katt and nodded saying "You know these waters best, I'll follow your lead till we are inside." and then dove into the dark water.

While Kaldur formulated the plan Katt had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from saying something snappy. She wasn’t sure if he was doing it on purpose or not but Kaldur’ahm had this way of talking to her like she was still in training and a fledgling hero, at least, that was how she took it. Everything he said about what they were possibly facing and how he said it made her feel like he was trying to get her to second guess things and leave. Maybe she was taking things too personally given her opinion of Aqualad but it irked her.
But, now was not the time to bring that up, not during a mission, if by some reason he hung around after then she would.
When the order to move out was given Katt followed and as they came to the docks and began preparing for what was ahead Katherine did the same as Kaldur and started to remove anything of excess. Removing her jacket, shoes and jewelry she set them next to where Kaldur’ahm laid his. While she didn’t have her suit with her leggings and a tank top would provide easy enough movement in the water, at least she wasn’t wearing something heavy like jeans. That would have been a nightmare.
Now that they were both ready and prepared and she was told to take point until they got inside the facility Katt nodded before diving in after. Once in the water she found her stride better. The water was like a second home and being surrounded by the thing that gave you your power had a uplifting effect on her. Katt swam out and deeper until they were at a good enough level to not be seen from above before she started heading into the direction of the facility.
Swimming toward the general area where the facility would be Katt stopped once they were close enough and took cover behind some rock formations so they would survey the area without being seen. Like what was above them on land the water entrance reeked of The Light influence. The technology was considerably better than what the refinery had been before, from this distance she could see what looked like to be a docking bay for underwater craft with one secure way in and out. The docking bay doors were open but should something go wrong once they were inside the doors would undoubtly be sealed and then they would be left stranded. It was a risk but so was everything in their line of work. Katherine watched the area for a few minutes, trying to see if there was any other noticeable red flags. Security seemed somewhat lacking here but she had a feeling that it was well hidden and waiting for something to cross its path. Nothing that some electricity couldn’t take care of she was sure.
Picking up a small rock from the sand Katt pushed it over toward the entrance, using her power to manipulate the water around it to propel the rock forward. The rock torpedoed through the water and hit against the metal wall of the facility before it fell back to the sand. For a moment there didn’t seem to be anything happening but the faintest of movement amongst some patches of seaweed let them know that there were weapons in place waiting, the rock was too small to set off any alarm but something larger than a fish would do the trick.
If you can hit them with enough electricity you may be able to short out the circuits” Katherine said while pointing in the direction of the machinery that was blocking their path. She looked at Kaldur and tried to gauge what he was thinking , but unless they came up with something they weren’t going to get very far without alerting everyone of their presence.

Kaldur followed Katt as they continued to swim toward the target, eventually getting to the entrance that Katt had seen during her sweep. He watched as she seemed to pick up quickly to not trust the obvious open door, as he saw her test and as the rock moved he saw the shifting movements of the weapons hidden within the seaweed.
If you can hit them with enough electricity you may be able to short out the circuits Katt said as Kaldur nodded with her assessment and circled to the side as he saw the weaponry slowly circling in mechanized time, from his position above he saw the control panel controlling it. His tattoos lit up with Atlantean magic as he thrust his palm downward and a jolt of electricity shocked the weapon as it drooped down, inactive. Using a bit of water at his feet and releasing he quickly shot over to the other one on the opposite side of the door and shocked it inactive as well. He quickly glanced around to see if there had been any that had been missed. Finding none, he then nodded to Katt as he continued inside.
The underwater passage that they swam through was uneventfull, which made sense, as this was clearly meant for vessels not people. The Light were paranoid, but not hinderingly so. They preferred a quick escape to fight another day than be held up by their own security measures and end up captured. It had been something Kaldur had learned during his time with them, and it was good to see that it still held true. Soon they reached the point where the passage suddenly tilted upward, the dock was not far. Soon they were about to breach as Kaldur slowly surfaced from underneath the water, Katt not far behind.
He looked around at the inside and saw that it was in the stage of mid construction, but there still was no one around. It was quiet.
Too quiet.
However they were both already in too deep, and at this point going back would only hinder the purpose of coming here in the first place, and he couldn't guarantee that Katt would follow suit and he couldn't just leave her there to fend for what might be waiting.
Better to spring the trap and be ready then to be over cautious and risk your opportunity Kaldur'ahm...
He could hear his fathers voice echo in his head. It seemed that today was digging up old ghost in more way than one.So he swam toward the edge of the dock and pulled himself out of the water. As he set foot on land he took a few cautious steps forward.
Then things started happening very quickly.
There was a rumbling sound beneath as the gate they had just swam through was closing. Kaldur turned to the left as he saw a control panel and standing up from a crouch a man clad in a black suit and covered helmet. Others clad in the same uniform appeared above them on the rim, wepaons drawn and aimed at them. Kaldur however was focused less on the umber of them as opposed to what they were wearing.
These were his fathers men. However his father was still in prison, so who's command were they following? Kaldur began to run through a list in his head, however it was then that from the shadows a gravelly voice filled with cold predatory malice said " Well, well look what we caught in our net today."
From the shadows emerged a figure, so tall he had to hunch to duck under the overhang of one of the hallways. A tank top style uniform that had cutoff sleeved to reveal his physique. Rippling with muscles under the grey slightly damp flesh. His head was bullet shaped, like a shark. No not like a shark, it was a sharks head. As he got closer he smiled a cold and predatory smile filled with razor sharp teeth.
As he saw him, Kaldurs list sudden lowered to one single name. Former Atlantean royalty that had turned renegade and joined The Light shortly after the battle with The Reach. His sorcery skills lay in his ability transform himself into the avatar of the shark that gave him superior strength and regenerative abilities.
"It's been a long time..." he said as he moved closer to face Kaldur head on.
"Shark." Kaldur said simply
"That's King Shark to you." he snapped back his teeth gnashing
Well the question had definitely been answered....this was a trap.

He agreed to her plan of attack and moved forward to carry it out, while Kaldur’ahm was taking care of the turrets Katt had stayed back to cover him, scanning the area around them for any kind of movement that would indicate they had been compromised. When nothing looked to have set off a reaction on the outside after he had finished and she was given the clear Katt swam forward and followed Kaldur through the tunnel.
Kaldur was the first to reach the surface again and she followed not far behind him, coming up as he was pulling himself out and onto the dock. As she came above water Katt;s flight helped her out with ease and her body lifted from the water and her feet gently touched on to hard land again. The area surrounding them was still being built up which was probably good for them, that hopefully meant that there wouldn’t be any of the missing people here which would mean that this wasn’t turning into a rescue mission. As Kaldur’ahm began stepping more toward the construction she followed him until they were quickly surrounded and Katt swore silently to herself, perhaps she had spoke too soon.
Their exit was sealed off as the Lights men were quickly drawing their weapons on them. Katt stopped slightly behind Kaldur and she scanned over their opponents. She recognized the suits, how could she forget? But that lead to other questions that they didn’t have time to ask right now and something told her that Kaldur was thinking the same thing.
No one was moving, the men were not firing on them which meant they had been expected. Could she have been seen before? Could they had seen them in the water? Both were possible or maybe this had been a trap set all along. Kaldur did say he was following a lead, maybe the lead had been sent by The Light hoping for their traitor to come sniffing around.
Which was exactly what he did.
This was not a good situation; they were trapped and alone since he had not told the others about this lead. If something were to happen to them now who knows how long it would be for the others to find out.
The thundering voice brought her attention back to the here and now, they could worry about capture if it actually happened, and right now they needed to focus on getting out of here in one piece. Katt’s eyes focused on the doorway where the voice had come from and she had to look up to see the sight of what stepped through fully. She had heard of this man before but she had never personally seen him and she would be lying if she said it wasn’t overwhelming. It was a grotesque mash of man and shark and seeing the cold, lifeless black eyes and razor teeth of the apex predator paired with a equally cold voice was almost enough to send a shiver down her spine.
”Friend of yours?” She whispered to Kaldur’ahm. Something told her the answer to that was no.

”Friend of yours?”
Kaldur didn't answer as it seemed obvious at this point. They had been caught like fish in a net and now he furiously tried to think and see a way out of this. He didn't see many, however as his eyes continued to search as they once again returned to that console of some sort on his left, most likely the control panel for the force field that was keeping the rain at bay and shielding the hole. However there were two the problems
The first was the fact the console was across the room
The second was the large Shark-man coming closer towards.
In a flash Kaldur had an idea, it was a long shot, but possibly the best shot they might have. However he had no time to tell Katt and without M'gann they did not have a psychic link to bond them either. He would just have to risk it.
He stepped forward a little and spoke directly to the Shark " I see my father has lent you some of his men while he is incarcerated."
King Shark smiled, an unsettling sight to be sure as he continued to close the distance " You noticed that did you? Well it seems that when his traitorous son chickened out, somebody had to step up. You know he put a bounty on your head. I take you out my place amongst The Light is assured."
"My father always did believe that the strong survived"
"and after today he'll see who is the strongest."
Kaldur raised his eyebrow " I believe he will."
Kaldur wasn't sure what King Shark had been expecting but based on the surprised look on the Sharks face he knew that he had not been expecting that.
"What are you talking about?"
"As I said my father believes that the strong survive." then Kaldur narrowed his eyes and his voice dropped a few degrees as he said " but who said this is a test for you. My father placing a bounty on my head could simply be his way of making sure I haven't lost my edge." He gazed around " I wonder if we both asked these men to open fire, which one of us they would obey?"
"You..."
Kaldur interrupted him and continued " First lesson my father taught me is that a man does not have his army given to him like a child getting an allowance. A man takes command." For a moment Kaldur felt a little too much like his father's son as he let a sneer come over his face as he drove the point home " You call yourself a king, but really your just a petulant child looking to be handed a throne. If you are who my father chose to command in his stead then he has chosen poorly, unless your merely just another test for me."
That did as King Shark roared, his teeth bared as a fist shot out. Kaldur sidestepped and grabbed the arm and using the force against him he tossed King Shark over his shoulder and sent him flying into the water that he and Kat had emerged from. As King Sharks bulk hit the water, it erupted out and Kaldur drew out his water bearers as he used one to from the water into a whip and lash the henchmen at the console, as the henchmen flew back. The other one he used to from a large shield as the men opened fire on him and Kat.
He could feel the water bubble and hiss as their weapons hit his shield as he turned to Kat and said " Get to the console and see if you can open that force field. I'll try to cover you."

This was bringing back a lot of unsavory memories that had been buried but standing here and listening to Kaldur talk as he was was very familiar. That tone..that cold, authoritative and brutal tone was back, the one he had used during his deep cover mission. He slipped right back into it so effortlessly like he had never left it and it struck a nerve with Kat..even so much so that she was starting to second guess his alliance once more.
Katherine listened to the two men talk, her eyes bouncing from Kaldur to Shark to the manta soldiers as she tried to anticipate what her next move would be. She did not interrupt the conversation as she was sure that if Kaldur had a plan that it would be put into action soon…that is, if he was still on her side. Kat hated thinking like that, after everything that had happened since then but she was either right or Kaldur was just that good of an actor.
She supposed she would find out soon enough
As Kaldur gave the final goading blow to Shark’s ego he charged and Katt stepped to the side ready to do what Kaldur had done but he had beaten her to it. As Kaldur countered and set the beast into the water he dropped his Mantas son act and was back to the task at hand: their escape. When the men opened fire on them and he told her to get to the console Kat nodded in understanding. ”Be ready to move once I do. Watch your back” That came out harsher than she intend but she was sure he knew what she meant. Once the shield was down she could fly them out but that window of escape was sure to be small and they would have to act fast.
The men that Kaldur had knocked back were starting to get back to their senses so it was now or never. Jumping up and over Kaldur’s water shield, getting some height before coming back down and starting toward the console. As she came back Katt brought a considerable amount of water with her with two spheres of water about the size of a basketball formed around each hand. She dodged her way around the barrage of energy blast from the weapons, using little bits of the water as needed. Once she was close the men that had been down had finally made it back to their feet and moved in around the console but Kat was ready. She brought her hands together and then quickly separated them again, the spheres of water shooting out in their respective direction and knocking the manta soldiers covering her prize down like bowling pins.
With the men down once more Kat did not waste any time and deactivated the shield, the water that had collected from the rain splashing down into the room below. Now that their escape was open Kat brought her fist up and put it through the console. Her fist clashed with metal and wires as the machine sparked and smoked as she pulled out some of the electronic insides and threw them aside. There, now their exit could not be closed but first, they had to actually get out of here. With her job done Katherine turned to get eyes on Kaldur, it was time to go.
