As soon as Robin and Nightwing joined her Barbara took her thermal scanner out once more and showed the boys just where their targets lie. I count ten hostages so far, no telling if he has any more. Once she was sure they had a good read on her scan she put the camera away once more. At Tim's question Barbara thought about it for a moment. As much as she wanted her chance at Zsasz she would rather know that her father was safe if he was inside, at least then her mind could rest easy and she could better focus on what needed to be done.
"I'll take the hostages" she confirmed. We will need a distraction to get Zsasz attention away from them, once he is out of range I will get them to safety and once they are to safety you two can take him out. Batgirl looked to the others with her to see if they were agreed. She hoped so because they would be wasting valuable time trying to argue.

Tim took a peek at the thermal scanner as Barbara had pointed out to them the ten hostages that it had picked up – along with Zsasz. He nodded, in agreement with Barbara. She made it clear the role that she wanted to take, which left Tim and Dick to deal with Zsasz. However, Dick was only just back. Tim would be taking the lead, for now.
“Barb, get close to the door. Be ready to enter the second I lure him out”. Tim would say, looking from Barbara to his utility belt as he took out a small device. It was a noisemaker, and upon placement it would make a sound for Zsasz to hear, and hopefully cause him to go to investigate. Zsasz needed to be dealt with away from the hostages, and thus bringing him in here would allow for Dick and Tim to deal with him. Then, Barbara can deal with the hostages, and even protect them – if Zsasz can deal with Dick and Tim. Noisemaker in hand, Tim then turned to look at Dick. “Once I lure him out, you get the pre-emptive strike, Dick. I’ll follow your lead from there”. From there, Tim would remain crouched as he swiftly moved over towards a desk near one of the windows. He would wait there, watching to see Barbara and Dick take up position before the lure begins.

So it appeared that Nightwing and Robin would be taking out the trash this time around. Nightwing didn't mind, at least not with Barbara's father at risk. One thing he did mind, though, was Tim's strategy. They couldn't simply call Zsasz in there, letting Batgirl run in after he entered. Too many flaws.
If Zsasz saw Barbara before she could leave, bad things could happen to her, the hostages, Tim, and anyone else in the way. They couldn't just go along with that, it was asking for trouble. Plus, if Zsasz did, in fact, see Batgirl, Nightwing would no doubt help her, and he knew it. Tim wouldn't be far behind, landing the trio in utter chaos. They could handle it, but you never knew what might happen. Heaven forbid the worst occur, but if it did, the hostages would be left to fight this alone. It would be better if they just avoided that scenario completely, and Nightwing had a plan. Instead of the three being in one place, setting the heroes up for failure, they needed to split up. "We need a better plan," Nightwing whispered, slightly frustrated that the teen hadn't worked out the vital possibilities. "With all three of us here, we're giving him the upper hand. What if he saw her?" He motioned to Batgirl. "Not to mention the fact that he'd be between us and the hostages when he realized what was up." Nightwing scanned the wall across the room, noticing yet another vent. Perfect. If his memory proved correct, that vent would lead into another small office on the right side of the police department. "Batgirl, I need you to go through that vent and hide inside the next room. Once you're there, wait for my signal, then you can exit the room, and get the hostages out. Zsasz won't even know you're with us." Nightwing then looked at Tim. "Robin, I need you to stay behind this desk, right here." He gestured to the hollowed out section underneath the desk, where a chair would normally be placed. "Don't move until I get back. You're going to need to get Zsasz inside, just like we originally planned, but other than that, keep quiet." He glanced back at the vent from which they had entered the building. "This unit will lead me to the same room that the hostages are in. When Robin lures Zsasz away, I'm gonna exit the vent and attack Zsasz from behind, so that he won't see it coming. Robin, you're going to have to wait at least two and a half minutes after I enter the room, before you make your move. Zsasz won't be expecting anyone else by that point, and we can catch him off guard. Batgirl, get a good start. Robin, leave your resonance creation device on the desk. If we leave it out in the open, Zsasz could suspect that I put it there, and won't expect you. Everyone ready?"

Was this seriously happening right now? Where they really going to do this now? Barbara listened to the two boys argue their plan and she sent a small glare at Dick when he interjected his own plan of attack over Tim's. He always had to be the leader, always had to take charge but she told him when they came down here; she and Tim had this handled and if he wanted to tag along that was fine but that meant tag along. That didn't mean bark out orders that you had no right to give. How did he expect Tim to learn to take lead on a mission if he was just going to run his own plan instead?
They didn't have time for this, they were wasting time by trying to decide who's plan was better. Barbara would have been fine with either plan, she really didn't care just as long as it got done but listening to these two lock horns over it, she had had enough.
Silently Batgirl made her way back to the vent they had come from and she quickly hoisted herself up and began the crawl through the maze until she reached the stretch of vent the went above the main room of the station and where the hostages were held underneath. Now that she was in position Barbara brought up her arm that had her computer resting in the gauntlet and she began typing away on the holographic board, hacking into the electrical system of the police station. It took only minutes before she was in and Batgirl positioned herself to be ready to drop down, she would have only a few seconds before the backup lights came on so she had to be quick.
She hoped the boys were ready because she was not going to wait around.
Once she was ready Barbara pressed the enter button on her keyboard and the power was cut, the lights and all electrical switching off in the building. As soon as she had her darkness cover Batgirl kicked open the vent and dropped down in the middle of the hostages, switching her visor to night vision so she could clearly see Zsasz and once she had a visual she went in for the attack.

As Dick revealed his master plan to the group, like an architect revealing his carefully thought out designs. Tim’s eyes widened in disbelief as Dick essentially told him to remain quiet and hide behind the desk until it’s all over. He has some nerve. Not even Bruce was that protective of Tim, because you can’t be. Tim didn’t sign up to squat behind furniture, and the only way to learn was through experience. Bruce knew that, Barbara knew that, but Dick did not. This wasn’t the first occasion either. Dick was always putting Tim on the squads with the least danger, doing his absolute most to make sure Tim isn’t in the firing line, and Tim hated it.
That look of disbelief remained, but Tim’s eyes narrowed as he stared at Dick, evidently annoyed. Tim wasn’t going to bottle up what he thought, but at the same time he knew he couldn’t yell or anything. Tim remained soft spoken in his approach, but there was fire behind the words if you look deep enough. “Are you for real? Do you even hear yourself right now, Dick? You want me to hide behind a desk and do nothing? That’s pathetic”. They were dealing with Zsasz, not Doomsday. Tim had fought Joker alone before, Zsasz wasn’t all that of a big deal. “I don’t want you to get the wrong idea here, okay. I’m not… angry, I’m just disappointed”.
“Disappointed to think that after however long of you being away, that you think nothing has changed. It has, lots of things have changed Dick”. Dick had been away for so long, things were bound to change. Tim looked at Dick square in the eyes, he wasn’t backing down. Tim had this side to him, when he felt passionate or aggressive enough, to challenge others – even Bruce. “Barb is just as good as you, and I’m not the little kid you thought the need to babysit. I’m better than that, we’re better than that. I never would have suggested that plan if I didn’t believe we had what it takes to pull it off”. Tim remained unaware as to the absence of Barbara. She had snuck off, but Tim was too caught up with his gripe against Dick to even notice.
“I have belief in Barb’s capabilities, I am confident that nothing would go wrong. But clearly, you don’t have that belief, you're not as confident. And what’s worse is, you have even less belief in me”. There comes a time when every Robin must be allowed to spread their wings. Unfortunately however, it appeared as though Dick wasn’t going to do that. He was more incline to clip Tim’s wings and make him hide away from danger. Dick knows what it is like to be a Robin, you would think that he would be less inclined to babysit Tim than others, guess not. “Maybe if you hanged around longer than a day or two, you might have a little more faith in us”.
“Oh… crap”. Tim said out loud as the lights would all of a sudden switch off and they were shrouded in a veil of darkness. “Where’s Barb?”. Tim whispered to Dick, their argument cut off like the power. But like the power, it would resume soon enough.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The vent cover would impact the ground with a loud clanging sound. Zsasz was extremely alert to the situation, he knew what this meant. Darkness, a vent cover – it was the modus operandi of a Bat. Straight away Zsasz would grab one of the hostages - a female, not too much younger than Barbara’s father. She appeared terrified as Zsasz grabbed a hold of her, screaming in terror at the mere thought of what may happen next. With a hold of the hostage, Zsasz would retreat somewhat towards the corner of the room. He had brandished a knife, waving it about in front of the hostage as he held her in front of him like a shield. “I so much as sense you! An’ I’ll carve a Bat into her skull!”. Zsasz proclaimed, looking straight ahead, listening and looking out for any small movement. He wanted an excuse.

Was he serious? Dick watched as the kid's will appeared to grow stronger. What was he thinking? Nightwing so clearly knew what he was doing, and Tim had the nerve to argue? On a mission? That wasn't even smart. What if Tim blew their cover, because Zsasz heard them? They had a mission to complete, and Nighting wasn't about to apologize for being right, especially when it concerned their safety. There was no doubt in Dick's mind that they could've handled Robin's plan, but this particular situation left little room for error, and the strategy had an opened door for it. Literally. The little things were significant at times like these, and it wasn't like he'd wanted Robin to stay behind the desk the entire time. If the kid had been listening, he would know that his job was important too. It didn't appear that Robin thought so, but Nightwing would never want his teammates to think that he didn't believe in them. He had full confidence in their abilities, just as they had in his, but there was nothing wrong with him pointing out a better way of handling it. Correction was important in anything, especially this. Nightwing felt a twinge of guilt. Maybe he had come off a little too strong, and he knew it. Tim was learning to be a leader, he wanted to grow as a hero, and Nightwing was crushing his chances at improvement.
Tim had received the same training as Dick had, even if had been to a different extent. Tim wouldn't be here if Bruce didn't trust him, so the two younger Bat kids could definitely handle this, but they were, in Nightwing's opinion, overly confident about it. Dick knew how it felt when people didn't believe in him, and he hated for Robin to feel the same way, but Tim could use the help.
Nightwing regretted diminishing Robin's strategy so harshly, and he'd make up for it futuristically, but was he gonna take back anything he had said? Not a chance in Nebraska. He had already made up his mind on the plan, and they were gonna stick to it. Dick didn't care how long he had been away, that didn't change his skill, he still knew what he was doing, and he was gonna keep them safe, no matter what.
Nightwing was more than ready to let loose on his own reply when the lights went out suddenly, and a single thought rushed through his head. 'Where's Barbara?' He hadn't noticed her leave, but it wasn't unlike her to get things done on her own, and he assumed the argument had driven her out. He knew her too well to think she'd have put up with any of that. She would've said something if she had stayed any longer, but he looked around, just to make sure she was gone, turning on his mask's night vision feature. 'Oh... crap. Where's Barb?' Tim whispered, and Nightwing sighed in response, moving away from the desk. "When you get my signal, attack."
He stood up, taking a running start. He sprinted into the next room, moving on pure instinct, ready for a fight, as he heard a hostage screaming. He wasn't about to let someone get hurt, not tonight, and he was gonna put a stop to this, every last bit of it.

Thanks to the cover of darkness Batgirl was able to move easily through the room, silently weaving her way around the hostages to the side of the room so she could get herself in a good position once the lights came back. Hopefully by then the boys would have realized that something was going on and jump to action because having another distraction would be nice, especially at the threat that was given.
Zsasz grabbed a woman close to him to use as a shield and Barbara pulled out a batarang from her belt to be at the ready, she was not going to give him the chance to make good on that threat.
The flood lights would be switching on soon and she knew that their window of surprise was quickly dwindling "Any time now guys.." Barbara thought to herself, she hoped she didn't have to do this on her own but she knew she could and she would if they hadn't managed to get their stuff together by now.
"39, 38, 37, 36..."
Her mental clock was ticking down and they were running out of time, it was now or never.

‘That’s a great plan, Dick, bravo.’ Tim thought to himself as Nightwing had scampered off after Batgirl. He really didn’t see it, did he? The problem with this plan, and the one that Nightwing had come up with before is that he insisted on Tim waiting for a signal. But never did he actually state what that signal was, or when he may decide to do it. This didn’t at all put Tim into a good position. He had two choices left; A) He could sit tight, and then be blamed later on for not showing up when Nightwing does the ‘signal’, or B) Tim could bravely throw himself into the heat of battle like the other two.
Begrudgingly, Tim opted for the first choice. Sure, he had no clue what the signal was. But from the sound of the plan before, it seemed Tim wasn’t going to be afforded the chance to strike from out the darkness. So Tim remained behind the desk, sat down with his back against it. The noisemaker gadget had been put away, and now Tim was glancing around the corner of the desk to see whether anyone emerges. What a time to be alive.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Meanwhile, little had changed for Zsasz. He was still caught under the veil of darkness that had descended upon the place. The woman in his clutches wasn’t helping him at all, struggling to get out of his grip. But Zsasz wouldn’t let her go, and the more she struggled, the more he felt incline to carve that beautiful face of hers up into tiny pieces.

Nightwing scanned the area, immediately taking notice of everyone's position, watching as Zsasz held an innocent woman at knifepoint, while giving threats to Batgirl. Though it was still dark, Nightwing wasn't sure if Zsasz had been aware of Barbara's presence or not. Clearly, the man knew someone was there. As to who or where, the insane villain likely had no clue. This left an open door for Nightwing to steal his attention. First priority- Keep the hostages safe. Zsasz wouldn't have time to carve anyone, not today. Nightwing pulled one of his razor-ended wing-dings from his utility belt, and aimed it at the wall behind Zsasz, who was now standing near a corner. He threw it, watching as the projectile flew silently through the air, impelling the wall slightly, making a soft sound, which was enough to make the villain turn around. Perfect. Nightwing took a running start toward the crazed villain, leaping into the air once he was near Zsasz. Dick landed steadily on his left foot, forcefully kicking out with his right, which made contact with the center of Zsasz's spine, causing a painful predicament for their subject, without effecting his hostage. Then, Nightwing immediately put Zsasz in a head lock. Just then, the lights flooded the room with bright illumination, defining every structure that had, moments ago, been mere silhouettes. The night vision of his mask automatically turned off, and Dick's eyes adjusted quickly. Nightwing immediately scanned the hostages, to see if they were alright, then he sent a look to Batgirl, before turning his attention back to Zsasz and their current scenario. "Let her go," Nightwing said, in a low, serious voice, narrowing his eyes slightly. He meant business. If Zsasz wouldn't listen, and Dick didn't think he would, Nightwing would have to take a more effective approach, one in which Zsasz couldn't ignore. That headlock could easily turn into a chokehold, and unconsciousness would be a good reason for the villain to release his victim. Nightwing could execute the maneuver without permanently harming Zsasz, and the police could take over before he awoke. It was perfect. If that didn't work, on the off chance that the perpetrator managed to escape, Nightwing would have no problem stopping him in any foolish attempt to harm someone. The second he got a way, Nightwing would alert Tim, who would come immediately. Robin's presence would throw Zsasz off a bit, while Dick attacked. Two Bats against Zsasz would be no problem, and they'd most certainly win that fight. Meanwhile, Barbara could be getting the hostages to safety, carefully leading them out of the building. That was, as long as everything went according to plan. Nightwing knew that, more than anything, villains were extremely unpredictable, especially Zsasz. ((Happy birthday, Beat! ))

Barbara was ready to strike, she could tell my his movements that Zsasz was getting agitated and that was never a good sign, being unstable enough as it was he didn’t need much to push him over the edge.
”10..9..8”
The clock in her head continued to count down and it didn’t seem like the boys had finished their argument and that it was up to her. Fine. Barbara put her batarang back into her belt and removed a grapping hook, having a new plan in mind and she positioned herself in the perfect spot to carry it out, that was, until she heard it. The ever so soft sound of a batfam projectile flying through the air and sticking in its target followed shortly after by some heavy footfalls of someone running. Though her nightvision Barbara saw the familiar frame of Dick sprinting toward Zsasz and she cursed to herself. That showboating jerk! Didn’t he know how much danger he put that woman in, especially since Zsasz didn’t let her go.
The lights clicked back on and everything was in chaos now, the hostages were ducking and preparing for the fight that was about to come and Batgirl was left to stand there in the middle of them all looking like a fool. She replaced her grappling hook on her belt and quickly looked around at the people that had been taken, not seeing her fathers face thankfully. Barbara knew that they needed to get these people out of here but she also didn’t want to leave Dick alone with Zsasz, not in this situation. ”get out of here!” She ordered while pointing at the door. Their way was clear now as the bad guy was currently occupied with Nightwing and they had no one to worry about unless he got free. Not needing to be told twice the hostages quickly scrambled to their feet and hurried to the front door of the station and exited the building.
Now that the room was clear save for the woman at the mercy of Zsasz the three batkids could focus on him and once he was taken care of and the woman safe then they could all start up their arguments because she was sure they were not over. At least she knew hers weren’t.

Tim had been in the office still. He was sat back in one of the desk chairs, with his feet propped up onto the desk in front of him. So this is what it’s like being a cop. All he needed now was a donut, a coffee and a homicide to investigate. Of course, Tim’s eyes were drawn to the exit that Nightwing had darted through. There was supposed to be some sort of signal, but of course Dick failed to mention what that signal would actually be. It was hardly a surprise to Tim, how could it? Nothing Dick did was a surprise anymore. He was still under the assumption that Tim was a rookie, a baby who needed protecting – which is not the case at all.
Finally the lights would turn on, and initially it caught Tim off guard who let out a grumble having shut his eyes immediately as they flickered on. “Thanks for the heads up…”. Tim mumbled to himself, opening his eyes once more. From the doorway came something of a mad rush as the hostages were running out towards the exit. That was good, they were safe now. That much was fair to assume, and Tim waited for the seemingly last one to run out before he would make his move. This was the signal… right?
A few moments would pass, and finally Tim had entered the room. Barbara was there, which was good, and seemed to be fine – see, Tim knew she would be. His eyes were then drawn to Zsasz whom Dick had locked in a headlock of some sort, though it appeared as though Zsasz still had a clasp of one last hostage. Tim would reach into his utility belt and pull out the handle of his Bo staff. He clicked a button, and the staff extended out from either end to its full length. Tim gripped it with both hands now, and clicked another button on the handle that made one end surge with electricity. A swing of the Bo staff, Tim then prodded it into the chest of Zsasz with the electrically charged end. Zsasz cried out at the initial pain, which caused him to loosen his grip of the hostage. She scampered away, while Zsasz fell down to a knee, rather groggy after that hit. From there, it was all Nightwing’s job.

Nightwing waited for the other hostages to leave before tightening his grip on Zsasz. It wouldn't be long now. Soon the final hostage would be safe, then they could take care of Zsasz, by turning him into the police. Tim then entered the room, and Nightwing noticed Robin's presence immediately, watching as the young man grabbed his bo staff and extended it, turning on its electrified feature. He isn't...
Tim continued forward, prodding the villain in the chest, sending an electric surge through him. Crying out in pain, Zsasz released his victim. Nightwing kept a hold on the villain until the hostage was free, deciding to let go afterwards. Zsasz fell to the ground, landing on one knee. Nightwing imagined that the man was pretty shocked about what had just happened, but it was time to finish the job. Nightwing took the handcuffs from his utility belt and leaned down, snapping the restraint onto the felon's wrists, confiscating his knife. The rest was up to the police force, Nightwing figured. Zsasz wouldn't be trying anything else, not tonight. Now that everything was said and done, Nightwing could address the conflict that had so deeply annoyed him moments ago. He couldn't get it past him that Tim had opted to use electricty. A simple slip up, and the innocent civilian could have been fried in the process. Of course, all of the Batkids had received skilled training, Tim included, but Robin was just beginning his life as a hero, and he still needed to be extra careful with his abilities. He could seriously hurt somebody, including himself, if he didn't pay enough attention to what he was doing. This time Robin was lucky, at least everyone was safe. Though Nightwing didn't completely agree with Tim's tactic, Dick was proud that the young hero had given it his best shot. Things could've been worse, but Tim had genuinly tried, and he deserved respect for that, even if he still had more to learn. Sighing, Nightwing turned to face his former team members, deciding that he would avoid criticizing, against his utter desire, in order to spare Tim's self confidence. As a fighter, confidence could be one of the most important things.
"Great job, guys. We could use a little more synergy, but for now it's fine." Nightwing somewhat offered a smile, not sure what else to say.

There were so many things wrong with what had happened tonight and they all steamed from the man in the black and blue. Once the hostages were clear and Zsasz was taken down Barbara stood there and she could feel the rage bubble over and her eye start to twitch. Was her serious? Who was she kidding of course he was serious. This was Dick Grayson, the single most pig headed man that ever walked the planet.
Barbara glanced at Tim for a moment, she was sure he had to be feeling the same way with how much Dick undermined him this whole time. He had even done it to her but she didn’t get the brunt of it like Tim did. Looking back to Dick and then to Zsasz that was on the floor Barbara thought it best that she keep her mouth shut for now, this was bound to get heated very fast and they didn’t need to air out their dirty laundry in front of someone like that..or for all of the GCPD to hear. ”Yeah, well I’m sure you have it from here.” Barbara said coldly. If he wanted to showboat and take over then he could finish up, she for one had had enough.
”Let’s get out of here, Robin” she turned and motioned her head toward one of the back exits . Now that the hostages were clear it would be only a matter of seconds before the police came storming in and there was no longer a reason for them to stick around. Before she could get too far however Barbara stopped and looked back, she couldn’t keep it all in, something had to be said, something vauge enough but could still get her meaning across. ”The next time you’re in the city, stick to your own cases. “ If this was how things were going to be she didn’t want or need his help. Not until he could get his head out of his ass but it seemed so firmly lodged up there that she didn’t see that happening anytime soon.

With the charge having proved to be effective, Tim would pull the Bo staff away from Zsasz. The charge of electricity that once surged at one end of the stave had come to an end, no longer crackling with the sound of electricity. The Bo Staff would then be retracted in, at either end until it was exactly how it was before Tim had taken it out. He placed it back in one of the pockets of his belts, then reserved to being an on looker as Dick went about apprehending Zsasz for when the staff of the GCPD arrive back.
”Great job, guys. We could use a little more synergy, but for now it’s fine”
Tim couldn’t help but get the sense that there was a hint of Dick patronizing them within his tone of voice. There would have been more synergy had Dick opted not to get involved with something that did not concern him. Both Barbara and Tim were very much capable of dealing with Zsasz, and if they weren’t; then the Big Bad Bat would have shown up. It was this lack of faith that Dick displayed in them that had riled Tim up before, and it would again. Though one could hardly tell from the calm and collected look Tim had upon him.
Before Tim would get a chance to even say anything, his anger was thwarted somewhat as Barbara suggested that they take their leave. It was perhaps for the best, before Tim said something he may regret. Tim wasn’t exactly above or beyond speaking or acting in direct defiance of others. A nod of the head, Tim would then proceed to follow after Barb as she lead the way out towards one of the back exits. Tim didn’t stop however, he continued on towards the exit, and Barb’s comment brought a smirk to the face of the Boy Wonder – he wasn’t the only one aggravated by the arrival of Dick either. Good.
