Cassie continued to walk around the carnival grounds with Tim. It seemed as if every few feet, another delicious food smell filled the air as did music from the rides and flickering lights as well. There was so much to take in, it didn't feel like she would ever be able to take in everything. As they were walking Tim spoke up.
“Erm… Cassie… you’ve got a little…”.
Cassie watched as Tim raised his hand to point to his mouth. Cassie was mortified, she knew instantly that she must have foam on her face. She stopped in her tracks and let go of Tim's hand as she quickly took on of the napkins from around her cup and raised it to wipe around her mouth. She was so flustered that it didn't even dawn on her to pull the mirror out of her purse so that she could see what she was doing as she attempted to use the napkin to wipe the foam from her lips.
She turned to Tim,"Did I get it? still a bit mortified, "Let's just pretend that never happened, okay?" she added with a slight frown on her face. Cassie couldn't believe something like that happened when she was having such a good time, now she was suddenly extremely self-conscience and couldn't help but wonder how many people they had pasted that had seen her walking around with foam on her face.
It took everything in Cassie for her not to go with her gut feeling and just bolt out of the carnival and Zeta-Beam Tube back to California and not go back to Gotham City for quite some time. She tried to calm her breathing so that she would calm herself so that she would have the nerve to stay after being so embarrassed.

Whilst Cassie was attending to removing said foam. Tim opted to take this opportunity to have another sip of his hot chocolate. It proved worthwhile, as he was making quick work of it. As he drank his beverage he couldn’t help but notice Cassie’s reaction to the news he had given her. She seemed embarrassed, freaking out over something that in the grand scheme of things seemed so very pointless. Foam or not, she looked a hell of a lot better than the majority of people. In this time, Tim had finished his hot chocolate; it had warmed every fibre of his being in contrast to the often blistery cold air that Gotham exhibited.
Looking over his shoulder, Tim caught sight of a small waste bin. It was filled with other empty cups, cigarettes and remnants of meals from time gone by. A quick turn, Tim threw his cup with pin point accuracy as it hit the inner edge of the bin, before falling on top of the mess that was amounting – let’s see Ollie try that.
“Did I get it? Let’s just pretend that never happened, okay?”
Cassie remarked as Tim turned back to see how she was doing. She worried far too much, and it seemed as though Cassie wanted a second pair of eyes to make sure this blip was gone. “First off, these are not helping”. Tim would say as he went on to remove the shades that he was wearing. He folded them up, and slid them into the left pocket of his jeans. They really were a detriment at this moment in time, accuracy is what is required. “Let me see…”. Tim would say as he took a half step closer towards Cassie. He was stood right in front of her, gazing into her baby blues.
In that moment, something happened. Whether it be a result of the hot chocolate going to his head, or perhaps the Wayne influence finally taking its toll on him. Something clicked into gear, and Tim’s mind cleared of the minefield of thoughts that usually inhabit his head. Tim went for it; he did something he had wanted to do for what seemed like forever. He had played this scenario out in his mind many times, and now it was finally happening. Tim’s head would tilt ever so slightly to the right, his eyes closing as he leaned in to kiss Cassie on the lips. As he moved in to kiss her, his right hand shifted to Cassie’s lower back, holding her close as the kiss went on. It was a few moments of total bliss, more perfect as Tim had ever imagined.
It lasted but only a few seconds, before Tim withdrew from the kiss. Half a step back, Tim’s arms fell casually at his side, before he slid his hands into the pockets of his hoodie. His head once again filled up with the thoughts that had abandoned him previously, and unfortunately wouldn’t quite yet allow for him to process what just happened. Instead his thoughts drifted to the very worst scenarios, those ‘what if?’ type questions that only ever mean trouble. “Sorry”. Tim would say before exhaling deeply. He wasn’t sure how Cassie felt, about him or what he had just did, hence the response he gave. No, Tim didn’t want to say anything else, nor was he going to.

Cassie had not been this embarrassed in as long as she could remember, millions of different thoughts were running through her head while she still fought off the deep seeded urge to just run off so that she could leave Gotham City and never look back. A mid all the chaotic thoughts running through her head, life was still going on around her which she was reminded of when she heard Tim speak up again.
“First off, these are not helping”. “Let me see…”.
She looked back to Tim and watched as she took off his glasses and tucked them in to his pants pocket, The sight of his brown eyes looking at her helped to calm her nerves yet at the same time raise her pulse slightly. As he stepped closer to her she felt him place his hand on the small of her back, as he tilted his head and moved in for their first kiss.
This action took Cassie completely off guard, though after a second of initial shock she did give in and kiss him back. Cassie's right leg bent up at the knee as they kissed, extending her leg out behind her for what seemed like forever, yet was only a matter of seconds. The kiss was much sweeter, and more tender than she would have ever imagined. She had to admit that Tim had very soft lips for a guy and he was pretty good with them at that.
After the kiss ended, Cassie placed her foot back on the ground and smiled at Tim then looked down towards her feet and slightly shuffled her feet while trying to slow her pulse rate back down to a normal pace, as well as not say anything stupid out of the shock of what had just happened. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see a couple of girls pointing at Tim and herself, she could only imagine they had been watching the kiss. A smirk crossed her face at the thought of them being jealous that they were not the ones being kissed by the handsome young man.
“Sorry”.
Cassie looked back up as she heard his apology. "No, don't be, you have nothing to be sorry for" Cassie started. "unless you regret doing it" she added though she hoped the latter was not the case. Cassie could tell that Tim had tensed up slightly, she could only imagine that he was perhaps as nervous as she was.
She took her hand an gingerly pulled his hand out from his hoodie and took it in to her own. "Truth be told" she began to speak as she looked into his brown eyes, "It was pretty amazing" she went on to tell him with a smile crossing her face as suddenly her nerves seemed to settle down.

“No”. Tim would say, interrupting. Quick to denounce any thought of him regretting what he did. “I don’t regret it, not at all”. Tim didn’t want Cassie to get the wrong idea. Tim was only sorry for catching Cassie off guard, hence the apology. He figured that the spontaneity and suddenness of the kiss may have not gone over well with Cassie, but it seemed it had. The entire scenario surrounding the pair and their first kiss had been something that Tim had thought about many times, and he never really pictured things going down like this. But that was the beauty of it, because it was so unlike him. The growth in confidence as Robin has proved to of had effect on him as Time Drake as well.
But there was nothing greater than when Cassie had remarked that the kiss was ’pretty amazing’. It did wonders for the confidence of Tim, and helped eradicate his nerves to some extent. Tim actually felt pretty proud of himself, told by the huge smile across his face. “Ditto”. Tim would say, returning the compliment – it takes two to tango. Tim felt much more settled now, stood holding Cassie’s hand, looking into her big blue eyes.
Now the time had come for them to return to the problem of dealing with the current task at hand; which was figuring out what they were doing and where they were headed to begin with. “So, ummm… rides, right?”. Tim would say as he returned his gaze from looking at some of his surroundings back towards Cassie. It was quite difficult now to refocus. In fact, Tim didn’t care for going on any ride now. He’d achieved the best possible outcome of this meet up, there was no ride in Gotham better than that.

“No I don’t regret it, not at all”.
Hearing Tim proclaim this was a huge weight off Cassie's shoulders. To say she was relieved to hear him say that would be a huge understatement. She was pretty sure that neither one of them would have thought this would be the way their first time kissing would have gone, if that was even something Tim had ever contemplated before.
“Ditto So, ummm… rides, right?”.
Cassie couldn't help but grin slightly as Tim seemed to be at a slight loss for words as he stammered to think of something to say. Cassie figured she would let him off the hook instead of leaving him to stumble over his words since, after all , he hadn't let her walk around the carnival with marsh mellow on her lips.
Cassie thought a moment. "Well, there's always the ever faithful, Gravitron or if we want to start with a slower pace, the bumper cars or Ferris Wheel" she offered up with a wide smile. Looking around, it was easy to see that they were certainly not lacking for choices of rides. They seemed to have everything one could possibly imagine in the way of rides and games at this carnival. It was quite a large, colorful carnival at that.
Truth be told, after that kiss they had just shared, Cassie really couldn't care less what they decided to do as it had already been a pretty spectacular night and everything else was just a cherry on the cake of the day.

Tim never at once actually stated whether or not Cassie did in fact still have any foam on her lips before they had kissed. Whether there was or wasn’t, Tim could not entirely remember. It was the last thing on his mind, and most likely the same could be said for Cassie as well. Either way, it was gone now and no more time needed to be spent fretting over it any longer.
It was rather fortunate that Cassie had said something. Tim was at a loss of words, words that could then be found as Tim had a rather simple choice to make. Out of those three, the answer was simple. “Bumper cars”. It was such an easy choice when read out like that. Bruce had not allowed Tim to get behind the wheel of the Batmobile as of yet, so far just the Batcycles. A bumper car seemed to be the next best thing which is why it took only mere seconds to decide, Tim had a need, a need for speed as this was an opportunity to test those driving skills of his. You have to feel sorry for anyone else in a bumper car at the same time, they would be seriously outmatched.
“That’s if it is cool with you”. It had to be as much Cassie’s choice as it were Tim’s. Bumper cars were not always everyone’s type of ride. “I may not be able to fire beams out my eyes, Cass. But this kid from Gotham is pretty slick when it comes to driving”. Tim remarked with a faint smirk appearing across his face. It was something of a play to offer Cassie that little bit of reassurance. Some are not fond of being bumped, but that shouldn't be a problem if Tim is behind the wheel. In truth it was just the level of confidence that he had at the moment, eager to some extent as well. It was certainly a change from the overthinking fool he was not so long ago.

“Bumper cars”. “That’s if it is cool with you”. . “I may not be able to fire beams out my eyes, Cass. But this kid from Gotham is pretty slick when it comes to driving”.
Cassie let a small smirk cross her lips as she spoke. She was pretty amused by his comments. "Careful, you don't want to underestimate a girl who's learning to drive in California, I'm not too shabby either, if I do say so myself" she informed him with a playful wink. It appeared that the first ride would certainly be bumper cars after that. It seemed they were both eager to try out their defensive driving since neither of them were old enough to legally drive a car yet, though they were old enough to save the world, go figure.
Cassie nudged Tim slightly, mindful of her strength as she prepared to walk over to the queue for the bumper cars. She was sure this would be an interesting time to say the least, as she knew that Tim had quite the competitive streak in him, and with all her time training with Diana, she had started to develop the famous Wonder Woman Competitive streak in her own right, so it seemed that it would be Batman Junior going up against Wonder Woman Junior in the bumper cars.
"Just remember Drake, no blood no foul" Cassie said in a playful tone as they stood in queue, she couldn't help but notice the people in front of her turn and give her an odd look when they over heard her comment. "Just a joke people, just a joke" she advised them as she turned to Tim and laughed. People in Gotham City seemed much more serious and a lot less humorous than California people. Cassie was sure to make a mental note of this for the future.

It seemed that it was most definitely for all purposes of the word; on - a little healthy competition between the two. Tim was used to a competitive nature, having had to learn his craft alongside Dick and Barbara. Competition was rife in the Bat Family household, to Tim this was just another challenge. One has to wonder as well… do the members of the Justice League ever act competitive towards one another? At a guess, Tim would say they did, and most likely it is the Caped Crusader ending up as numero uno – just like Tim will be here today.
Tim had trouble disguising his laughter as numerous people turned around as a result of Cassie’s remark. Perhaps he should have warned her about that beforehand. People in Gotham were highly serious, very diligent as there is always another crime or psychotic outrage around each and every corner. It was a city that required it’s residents to have their wits about them. If anything, Cass had identified herself to the others in the line as someone to be cautious of, and perhaps even a target.
Once they had turned back round, Tim had recomposed himself before speaking. “You sure you want to go against me in another bumper car? There’s nothing wrong with sticking to the passenger seat, Cass”. He wasn’t done there. “Of course, there are no hard feelings if you want to stay on the losing team either”. Tim finished with a huge smile on his face, brimming with confidence. Failure here was not an acceptable option, nor was it on any given night for the Boy Wonder. Tim had been taught how to win, and that’s what he’s going to do.

“You sure you want to go against me in another bumper car? There’s nothing wrong with sticking to the passenger seat, Cass”. “Of course, there are no hard feelings if you want to stay on the losing team either”.
Cassie arched her eyebrow playfully at Tim, "Oh really Mr Drake, you think so?" She replied playfully as the queue began to move for the next round of people. "Just be sure to buckle your seat belt, 'Cause it's soooo on!" she added with a smirk as they were walking up to the entry way for the bumper cars. "Okay you kids, go on in.... watch your step" The carny that was attending to the bumper cars instructed.
Kids huh? being called a kid annoyed her slightly, little did the man know she could easily bench press him or throw him across the carnival grounds if she so chose, but she kept her composure and simply gave the man a quick nod as he motioned them to enter the gated area, Cassie's focus was quickly drawn to a bumper car that was painted in black and red, of course those where her hero colors. She smiled and made her way to it. "You ready for this?" She called over to Tim as she watched him walked around until he chose a bumper car for himself.
Cassie sat and buckled the safety belt in the bumper care she had chosen as she waited for the carny to turn on the cars and give the okay for them to take off.

There was certainly no time left for niceties between the two young heroes, as the competitive fever had well and truly taken over them both. Neither was willing to accept defeat, nor happy to show weakness. The time was upon them, as the carnival attendant ushered the lot of them in for the next round of bumper cars. In Tim’s head he was all psyched up, doing a few easy stretches as they walked towards the arena for this contest.
It seemed as though Cassie waited very little time in deciding which bumper car she should take. A red and black one – maybe it was a choice due to her obvious fangirling for the Boy Wonder? Perhaps. It maybe may have been Tim’s choice as well, but Cassie beat him to the punch there. Tim instead began to walk around through the assortment of bumper cars to find one fit for his skill. A difficult challenge, made difficult as a result of people settling into bumper cars whilst Tim was trying to make a decision. Then he saw it.
A bumper car that was off to one side in the corner. It was a silverfish grey and black color, all it really needed was a Bat-bumper stick slapped on to the front. Tim hurried over, and would climb into the bumper car as he was near enough ready to go. But first, Tim reached into the pocket of his jeans and removed his shades, putting them back on. He then glanced over towards Cassie, a dead serious expression on his face as he mouthed the words;‘It’s on’ to her from a distance.

Cassie sat in her red and black bumper car as she awaited all the others to find the ones that they wanted to use so they could begin. Tim had chosen the black and silver one over in the corner. Cassie smirked at the sight of Tim taking out his sun glasses and putting them on for the bumper car challenge. She laughed at the sight of him when he mouthed the words "it's on"
This was definitely going to be an interesting time to say the least. God bless anyone who tried to get between the two of them. Cassie left slightly at the thought of it. These people had no clue that they were playing bumper cars against two extremely competitive super heroes that had a hand in saving the world multiple times. Talk about a daunting game.
As the final people started to get situated in their bumper cars, Cassie reached down and double checked her safety belt. She looked around the bumper car area then back at Tim. mouthing the phrase "You're going down " Playfully, thought there was a bit of sincerity behind the words.
Seconds later the lights began to flash to life as the Carny turned on the power to the cars and they, too, became to come to life as everyone started to move.

Cassie seemed rather confident herself. When she did mouth the words; you’re going down, Tim was quick to deny it as he shook his head from side to side. She was insane if she thought she was going to win, never mind the fact that they were essentially on Tim’s own turf. No, Cassie was punching above her weight in this one. You can’t rely on superhuman strength in this one, no. You needed Tim’s strongest muscle, his brain.
And then the power turned on, followed by the somewhat whacky sound of a buzzer to inform them all that the session had begun. Tim wasn’t stupid, he was one of the smart kids here on the bumper cars and had his strategy all worked out. He wasn’t going to go after Cassie right away - that would be a mistake. It was much better to sucker her in, and utilize his silky slick moves to strike back.
Tim would instead manoeuvre his bumper car around swiftly, looking on as the others whizzed about. For the most part it seemed like a lot were deciding to go around in a circular motion, with only the silly or the brave cutting across to barge into another. Tim spotted a red haired kid roaming that very circular makeshift track. Tim turned his bumper car and it would thrust towards the car of the red headed kid as he was turning. Tim bumped into the other bumper car, knocking it into the corner before reversing and turning to move on quickly, before anyone could flank him.

Cassie took off for the outside of the group to stay away from the yahoos who went straight in to rattling their brains by bumping into others with no rhyme or reason, just for the sake of bumping others. It appeared Tim had chosen the same strategy as she, a defensive one. It made since though considering their mentors, Batman, Wonder Woman and Black Canary. They had always taught them to be more defensive then offensive, well May not Batman so much, he was more of a strike while you have the element of surprise kind of guy, but that was beside the point.
As Cassie realized that, she was sure to keep her eye on Tim so that he couldn't sneak up and bump her from behind, however in her persistence to watch the new Boy Wonder, Cassie found her self being struck from the front and the back by two boys that looked old enough to be seniors or perhaps recent high school graduates.
"Hey baby wanna go out with a real guy?" One of them yelled out to her, "Ditch your lame boyfriend over there and come party with a couple of real men" The other one called out.
Hearing one of the jerks call Tim lame, pissed Cass off slightly, she spun the steering wheel which sent her bumper car wiping around into the guy's bumper car, pushing him into the wall. "Sure if either of you see any will you be sure to let me know?" she called out in response as she kept bumping the one guys car in to the wall holding him in place.

It was something of a hybrid of both defensive and offensive strategies that Batman employed, and had taught to the Bat Kids. It was very much to do with precision movement, and accurate attacks. In many scenarios it was required that you bide your time, that you wait for that window of opportunity and then seize upon it. Fortunately enough, Tim was rather the opportunist and saw that window open up before him.
Across the Bumper Car arena, Tim would see in the corner of his eye two boys bump into Cassie in near unison. Unfortunately, he was unaware of the dialogue but had begun manoeuvring his own bumper car into position – Tim was going on the offensive. Cassie had been able to take care of herself, managing to force one of the guy’s bumper cars into the wall and now seemed quite content with keeping him trapped there for the duration of the ride.
But what Cassie didn’t see, was the bumper car belonging to the other guy who had backed away momentarily. He was seeking a surprise attack, to knock Cassie away and to free his friend. His bumper car began moving forward towards Cassie’s, and that is when Tim put his foot down on the pedal and his bumper car surged forward. It was like Batman striking an unexpected assortment of thugs, for Tim swooped in just in time to collide with the second guy’s car before he could hit Cassie’s. The speed of Tim’s car knocking into his caused the guy to lose momentary control as his bumper car spun backwards, getting caught in the crossfire of a few more bumper cars speeding by.
Tim didn’t say anything after. He merely nodded his head slightly before driving his bumper car away to join the battlefield once more.

Cassie gave time a slight smirk when she noticed Tim take out the other guy. It seemed that their currently rivalry had been put on the back burner for just a moment to take care of a common nuisance. The fun was short lived however, because it seemed like in the blink of an eye their time in the bumper cars was over as the Carny cut the power to the rides.
The bumper cars came to a halt as the lights stopped flashing. Cassie looked around for a moment thinking it was a problem with the ride, but quickly realized that their time was just over. It had to be one of the quickest rides in history she thought to herself, or perhaps she was just so focused on keeping the jerk pinned to the wall that she didn't realize how long she had actually spent on the task.
She exited her bumper car and made her way over to Tim. "Guess we will have to have a re-match soon" She said with a smile. "Wanna hit up the ferris wheel or something to see the Gotham City Skyline?" she asked.
