She nodded slowly. If he was planning on moving his stuff to the cave then that was a good thing right? Some of the team lived there but others choose to live separately in their own apartments. If he was willing to move stuff to the cave then that meant he was really invested in this and she was proud of him. "if you need help with anything all you have to do is ask. I'm sure the others will be more than willing too." It was easy to move things when you had friends that had super strength and telepathy and could phase things through walls instead of trying to carry a couch up three flights of narrow stairs...something she knew from experience.
"I'm sure M'gann will throw you a little welcome back party." Barbara laughed a little at the thought. M'gann was always the party planner and the cookie baker and the general positive energy around the cave. She always made things feel like a home with her dinners and all the little things she did for others and Barbara was sure that this would be no different. Perhaps Barbara would have to go and talk to M'gann about that herself, make it happen.

All he needed to do was move everything back, that would show his dedication. And it wasn't an act, he was dedicated to this. He wanted to come back full time, and he wanted to prove it. If he lived somewhere else that would put doubt in some minds. No, this was the best option. Besides, he needed to immerse himself completely, and what better way than moving into where most of the action would be plotted out from? He nodded to her, "I'll go take a look at the situation and let you guys know." He paused and thought for a few moments, "Unless you want to come over and help me take a look, let me know if you think I need help. Besides, it'll be your only chance to see my place before I leave. Well, potential only chance." Of course, if she helped him move, then she'd see it, but that was different.
Dick smiled, "I'm sure she would." He'd enjoy that too. It had been too long since he'd seen M'gann or anyone else for the most part, and some warmth and nostalgia like that, like a celebration, would be just what he needed. It would definitely help take him out of the gloom that had permeated him for so long.

Barbara had to think for a moment as she almost said that she had been to his apartment before, had he forgotten already? But then it hit her that after Wally's death Dick really retreated from everything and even moved and no one had really been or seen it, the league had known the location in case it was needed but that was it. "How can I pass up the chance to see this new bachelor pad for the first and last time?" She would help him if he needed and wanted it, it was what friends do and really after not seeing him for so long and then all that nonsense at Halloween it would be nice to spend some time with him doing normal, mundane things. Sometimes they took for granted the mundane task of life given the dangerous and exciting lives they lived but it was nice to stop and enjoy them from time to time.

He wasn't even sure how much of a 'bachelor pad' it was. "It might disappoint if you're looking for a proper bachelor pad," he told her. He hadn't really had anything like that on his mind of late, and had just gone and done what he needed to do. Sure, there were some women, but they didn't take effort or a lot of work, so he didn't need a good apartment to get things done. Besides, he was out most of the time, so it basically just let him survive, rather than do well and thrive. "Anyway, let's go."

At the invitation to follow him Barbara stood up from the bench and followed along, making small talk along the way. She had no idea how far they had to walk or where they were going so she let Dick lead. Barbara had to admit that she was glad of this little turn of events, even if she had come here with the intentions of ripping him a new one she rather liked when things had gone instead. It was like old times, they were acting like proper friends again and she had missed that. Barbara missed the teasing and jokes about Dick's choice in women. She missed the fun they used to have and how well they had worked together...but she had missed her friend the most. But, now that he was agreeing to come back maybe that meant their friendship was also on the mend as well. It would have to be if he had gone so far as to confess feelings for her just a few minutes ago.
That was another thing. Dick was not the type to do that..as far as she knew he didn't have those feelings, at least not really. Everything she had seen before had really only been on the surface and nothing that went beyond that. Dick was a little shallow when it came to matters of the heart and yet, here he was. He had even seemed rather awkward about it which Barbara thought was strange. Maybe that was a good sign.
Regardless of what it was she was still going to stick to her guns about wanting to wait this out, even if she wanted to agree to jump into things right away, be a little reckless about something Barbara just couldn't bring herself to do it. She knew that if they did both of them would regret it in the long run.

Dick tried not to think about Barbara in any emotional way right now. He didn't want his heart to be an issue at the moment. He knew if he thought too much about it, he might end up overthinking and playing this out in his head in what seemed the logical way. And the logical way may end in heartbreak. That would dishearten him far too much to want to return to the Team, and he couldn't put that on her right now, or the others. He had to come back.
He needed to come back for himself too.
As they walked, he slowed and moved to her side, "So...what have you been up to lately?" he asked. He hadn't been up to much, in case she should ask. Well, nothing that would get him in trouble, and no women either. Sure, after Wally's death there had been a handful, but that was more to ease the pain away rather than anything else.

As he came beside her Barbara turned to look at him a moment when he asked his question, giving a shrug and then turning to look forward again so she could watch where she was walking. The usual." Really, she hadn't done anything too exciting, well, anything that they would consider exciting since their lives were pretty exciting as it is. "Work, school and duties to the team keep me pretty busy." Since he had left and she had stepped up to take his leadership position her time with the team had almost doubled. She didn't mind it but it left little room for much else on top of everything else she did.
There had been a few dates thrown in there but Barbara thought that was better left unsaid, considering what had just happened a few minutes ago.
"What about you?" Once again she turned to look at him. Just what had he been doing all this time?

He nodded as she gave him a brief rundown of what she had been up to. He had expected her to have more of a life, honestly. He didn't think she'd have only school, work and the Team. Even he had downtime to do with what he wanted. He felt a bit sorry for her in that regard, but it was the life she had chosen for herself. She could have made changes somewhere. Of course he didn't voice that.
"I've been...well, just being Nightwing," he told her, "Bludhaven needed a hero, and I responded. I mean, I've done some work here and there, but I've gotten by." He had options, he had Bruce's help when he was younger. He chose not to comment on his bachelor life, and the women. "I've met a number of people, but none of them could replace you guys."

It seemed that neither of them wanted to go into much detail about their time apart but maybe it was best left where it was. "Going solo feels weird, doesnt it? After being with the team for so long." Barbara had always thought that, not that she was questioning her ability to act alone as she knew she could but after having to rely on you team for so long it kind of left a void if you didn't have them around. There was always someone that had your back, always someone fighting beside you when the odds were stacked against you, it was difficult to get over that feeling.
As they walked Barbara made sure to pay attention to the direction they were headed in and the streets they passed, converting them all to memory just in case she had to come find him again. "So, how are things in Bludhaven?" They all had their cities, the bats had Gotham, the Kryptonians had Metropolis, the speedsters Central City..so on but she was glad that a city like Bludhaven had its own protector now.

"It does," he told her. Had she ever acted solo though? There was one thing, thinking about how it would be to act without a team. Without your friends, but it was another to actually do it. He suspected she'd never done it herself. "It's lonely, but also a little freeing. You don't have anyone to disappoint."
Not that he felt like the team ever disappointed each other. But it was still something of a relief to just know that no matter what happened, you didn't have someone looking over your shoulder, knowing you failed. Then you could pick it up and fix it before anyone realized. He looked at her again, "Corrupt," he said, "A decent amount of my time has been dealing with police corruption. I don't think the police like me very much."

"It can be nice" Barbara agreed, it did make things easier from her experience but she would never trade the team for anything, it was nice to have friends that had your back like that. When Dick explained how his time in Bludhaven had been going Barbara listened more intently when he brought up police corruption. She always hated that, more than a lot of things. Her father had been a good police officer and it was people like what Dick was describing that gave him and the other good officers a bad name. "Seems to be a trend these days." She said with a sigh, no matter where you went corruption was everywhere: the police, the government, big business..you couldn't escape it and it was getting worse. It almost made their job seem pointless..not that it was, they did a lot of good but sometimes it got a little discouraging knowing that as soon as you put away one bad guy three more step up to take his place.

"It can be," he agreed, "But it's more lonely than nice." That was the primary reality of the situation. While he could find a way to enjoy it in how he'd described, "You end up alone, and people like us need others. We needed friends, allies, people who would be happy to see him at the end of the day," he told her. He looked at her, then looked on ahead.
"There are still good officers out there, everywhere," he told her. Her father was one of them, although he didn't know Jim Gordon very well. "I'm hopeful that in our fight we can restore a balance."

All this talk about work was depressing and brought up bad memories or things they were trying to avoid right now, or at least things she was trying to avoid. Barbara didn't want to give Dick any reason to second guess his return to the Team. "So...how much further?" She asked while looking around the street they were on. They had to be getting close right?
After she left here tonight Barbara wondered if she should tell the others about is return. Bruce should know..if he didn't already, and then Tim but was that really her place to say anything before it actually happened? She ddn't want to jinx anything or have everyone pressure him. Maybe she would think on it, if nothing else Bruce and Tim should know.

Dick wasn't sure what to make of her changing the subject like that. It was a simple enough question she had given him, so he just nodded, "A few blocks," he told her. Was the conversation becoming too much like business? Too much like work? Too serious? He looked at her, then looked back ahead. Yeah, it probably was.
"Sorry, I'm sure you want to talk about something else," he said, "After all, we spend so much time doing...our other activities, I'm sure you want to spend your free time on something else." For Dick he had thrown himself entirely into his crime fighting, so he didn't have much else to go off of right now.

She shrugged simply because she didn't know what else she could talk about with him. There was once a time when they had and could talk about anything and everything but now after he had been a stranger in her life she didn't know what to say. Everything that had been going on in her life since the time he left didn't involve him like it once did, her friends and her life were things he was no longer part of and that made this difficult. The only thing she knew to talk to him about were the life and the team but none of those were really any good either.
"I dont mind" Barbara settled on figuring she would let him lead the conversation, it would give her a better look into his life as of late if nothing else. Not to mention is was probably one of the few things they had in common anymore "not like you can escape it if you tried." Somehow the hero talk always came up.
