He missed the old days, when everything was available to talk about. He didn't feel comfortable talking about their personal lives now, especially not after confessing his feelings for her not too long ago. That needed to settle, and the farther away he kept from that stuff, the better. Then again, he couldn't go too far into talking about their "work"-related experiences. That would just be problematic.
"No, we can't escape it, but that doesn't mean it should be all we talk about," he said. Sure, they had touched briefly on other matters earlier, but that didn't get far. They had arrived at his building and he held the door open for her, "Regardless, we'll be at my place very soon." A quick elevator ride and they'd be there, and maybe find something to talk about. Hopefully.

Barbara just kind of nodded, she didn't want to tell him that she didn't know what else to talk about with him. That this still seemed strange to her. As the finally reached his building Barbara followed behind, letting Dick lead the way and as they stepped into the elevator she stood there and waited. Of course he had a apartment high up, they all did...seemed to be a hero thing, made coming and going a lot easier. "Has anyone been here?" She asked on their ride up. Was she the first person to be to this new place? Well, first of his friends as she could only imangine the women that have passed through that door. "Or am I the first?" Seemed kind of sad to be the first and possibly the last person to see this new place of his if he was indeed moving back to the cave. (meh sorry but im just too tired to think of more >.<)

As they stood in awkward silence on their ride up, he wasn't sure what to say. Her question didn't make it any easier. What did she mean? He thought about it for a moment, "You're the first of the team to be here," he said, "I did make friends in Bludhaven, after all." That answer should suffice. She knew his reputation though, and he hated the reputation he had. No doubt she figured he'd had women over, and it was true. He'd only tell her if she asked, though.
When the elevator stopped on his floor, he led her to his apartment and opened the door, "Well, here it is." It was sizable enough, with a kitchen and bar, and a table set aside. The furniture was nice, rather than just being old and crappy or anything like that. His actual furniture in the sitting area was also nice. He had put money into this, so it actually came off as a bachelor pad. It had a blue color scheme, to reflect his Nightwing color or choice. He realized now that it also matched her eyes. No wonder he liked the color. Then there was, of course, his bedroom, which was nicely set up for women, but it was fortunately not in view, and shouldn't be visited. It's not like there was anything wrong there, it was just well kept, and well...she had to know, and it would just be so awkward.

Barbara just kind of rose her brows at him and nodded a little. She had an idea what kind of friends he meant and would rather not bring that up, not after everything that had been said. Usually Barbara wouldn't pass up the opportunity to poke fun as his other nightly activities but right now that seemed like it would be in poor taste. Funny how a lot of things like that kept coming up.
As they finally reached and entered the apartment Barbara took a look around, it was nice. Not that she hadnt thought it would be but she expected more of a bachelor pad, something more with random clothes and pizza boxes stacked up high. That was what her apartment looked like right now, lots of time spent at the computer doing League things as well as her own little inventions and school work meant little time for cooking so it was usually pizza. Empty boxes were stacked on her counter and she had a nice little soda can pyramid going on next to it...she really needed to get rid of those. "It's nice" Barb said at last after having gotten a good look at everything "It suits you."

As much as Dick did enjoy spending time with women, and well, everything that went with it, he did wish that that hadn't become a thing around the team. He'd rather have just ended up living his life waiting for the right woman to come along, waiting for real love, rather than just lust. He looked at her for a moment, "Believe it or not, I have a decent amount of friends around here. Guy friends mostly. I mean...like two girl friends...um...I'm just going to stop talking."
He smiled a little after they had arrived, "Thanks," he told her, "I try. I had a decent amount of time after all to get this set the way I wanted it. Guess I'll have to set it up when I move back to my old apartment." He had grown accustomed to this living situation after all.

Barbara laughed a little at how he kept tripping over his words, trying to make things not sound like what they sounded like. That had always been fun, poking at his other nightlife, questioning his taste and making jokes at his expense. That had been how their friendship was and she missed that but maybe now they could get some of that back.
Now that she was here tho Barbara wondered what to do now "So...where do we start?" She had come to help him after all, she had no idea what to do tho, how excatly did they tackle this right now? Maybe they could get a little bit done and then get some dinner or order pizza or something after. Make a thing of it.

Dick just kind of sighed, "I'm making a fool of myself, aren't I? Or just making things worse?" he asked. He had to be, with his tripping over himself, with the implications of what he was spending his time doing when he wasn't with the team or out on the streets as Nightwing. There was no way she'd take this seriously he was sure, and she might just take his words and his relationships as a sign that they shouldn't try anything together.
"Probably easiest to start packing smaller things into boxes," he said, "I can take care of furniture and stuff another time. Besides, I'd need a truck or something to move it. Boxes are easier." He wasn't sure how much work she'd help him with, but as long as she was here and willing to help, he was happy.

Barbaras laughter quieted down and she looked at him with a slight smirk that eventually settled into a smile. "You dont have to try so hard you know. Its not like I dont know about these things." Barbara knew about his taste and everything, it didn't change anything between them but it had been a deciding factor for her about having a relationship with him in the past.
Deciding that it would be better to turn the conversation to something else again. It seemed that no matter what they always ended up back here in some way or another. "So...do you have any boxes?" she asked, putting her hands on her hips and looking around. If he did then she would help a bit before she had to go for the night, if not then she supposed they could go out and get some.

But how much did she really know? Did she just think he slept around for the sake of sleeping around? There were so many different perspectives one could take in these regards, and Dick didn't know how she viewed any of them. "It's not like I do it because I want to do it," he told her, "I am trying to find someone to love..." He felt a bit vulnerable saying that, but he felt like he needed to be honest.
No, he had no boxes, unfortunately. He shook his head, "I didn't plan on moving until now, so I've got nothing." Of course, boxes and stuff shouldn't be too hard to find. Or just pay someone to do all the moving stuff for him. He had options, and he had ways of getting this done, so there was that.

Barbara looked at him and sighed. This was a nightmare, this whole day had turned out so weird and now there was this and she really just didn't know what to say to him. He had spilled his heart out to her and she shut him down, that alone made things awkward but now this? They had really made a mess of things hadn't they?
What they really needed was a change of scenery. Maybe if they were out where it wasn't just the two of them that might help break this weird air that had settled around them and they got that chance when Dick said he had no boxes or no plans on where to start. "How about dinner then? We can figure this out some other time, maybe get Conner or Kaldur to help too." Moving would be a lot easier when you had people that had super strength to lift things and besides, she was getting hungry and could really use something to distract her.

He really shouldn't have said that. He thought it would make him sound approachable, or something, or let her know that he was serious, and not just trying to bed her. But then he started to figure that it probably wasn't going to be taken in any good context, and that was just such a huge mistake to say. He really didn't know what to do now, so he just stayed quiet.
Dinner? Was she really asking him about dinner, considering that he'd just poured his heart out to her like that? Did she realize how that sounded, like as a date type thing? Well, obviously it didn't need to be, but in this situation, in this timing, it came off as pretty weird, and very date-like. "Yeah...let's wait for them. And yes, I'd love to do dinner." He hesitated, wondering if he'd said that wrong, or sounded eager, or anything.

Barbara didn't think dinner with your old friend was anything special nor did she think it strange but they were clearly on two different paths here. She wanted to pretend like nothing had happened with them, that there was no weirdness or anything and this was the only way she knew how to do it.
She began listing off a few places that they could get something to eat "or we can try that diner a few blocks from here, I've been wanting to try to for yea-" Barbara's words were cut off when a voice began speaking in her ear as her com link came alive.
"Batgirl, Blockbuster has been spotted at Daggett Pharmaceuticals. I've sent the coordinates to your computer. Team Gamma is in route. Assistance is required. Aqualad out
Barbara looked at Dick and pursed her lips together slightly. She was sure he knew what this was without having to say "rain check?" She offered, they could catch dinner after he came back to the cave and they would have more time to plan his moving too that way "duty calls." She waited a beat to get his answer before moving toward the door. As she entered the hall and made her way back down to street level Barbara brought her right arm up and began fiddling with the watch on her wrist, a holographic computer coming to life as she did that gave her the location and other useful information as well as called her cycle to her remotely. Time to go to work.

He knew that more than anything he wanted to be with her. He wanted to love her, to hold her, to just know that she felt the same way about him that he felt about her. Dinner was very much a date thing, and he'd try to plan it like one. Nice restaurant, flowers, candles, all of that. He knew their friendship was important, and one of the most important things in his life, but it couldn't stay that way forever.
He listened to her list locations, but his mind was also working on it. He had some nice places in mind that he'd love to take her. But when she started to say that she'd wanted to try it for years, he knew that it would have to do.
Aqualad's message came through, and Dick let out a small sigh. He nodded, "Better than nothing," he conceded. He moved to the location he kept his suit and equipment hidden and began to open it and pull it onto himself. He noticed that Barbara had gone, but that was fine. He had his own way of doing things now.
