Deathstroke looked at Lian distastefully. "She speaks well for a two year-old. But not much else to distinguish her from the ordinary." Slade simply gave Lian a bemused glare as she pointed at him and giggled. It was rather despicable, and extremely idiotic. Slade felt a sudden urge to break Lian's fingers with a simple movement. He held himself back, however, and settled for a vicious glare at the two of them.
Then Cheshire told him to loosen up the eyepatch, and that kids had vivid imaginations. "That is no excuse for not being able to tell whether a man is Santa or not. You should discipline her; physical discipline is the most efficient way to deal with children such as her."

Jade cast Slade a sideways glance when he said that there was nothing that distinguished Lian from the others. Lian was a very smart child, smarter than most children her age. She was able to speak very well given her age, could problem solve better and had higher functioning skills than most toddlers. Something that she and Roy speculated came from the Cadmus tinkering. Whatever they had done to him when they created was probably somehow passed down to their daughter and that gave her a edge. But, she was not going to sit here and argue that with the mercenary.
However, he seemed to feel the need to continue on and interject his own personal 'parenting' skills on her and Jade was quickly becoming annoyed with him. First he had threatened her daughters life and now he was telling her that she needed to impose strict physical discipline on her. He sounded so much like her father. Lawrence was the first to raise his hands to his daughters whenever they went against his wishes or spoke out of turn. Jade was not going to be that parent. Are we done here? She asked, her voice flat, the only way to keep her other feelings in check right now. Or are you going to stand there and try to tell me how to raise my daughter?

Deathstroke gave a steely glare at her before replying. "We are done. Your cooperation keeps you alive for now, Nyugen." The mercenary then turned to walk away. "Don't disappoint us." And with that last statement, Deathstroke was gone. He walked into the nearby woods, seemingly vanishing without a trace. There was nothing more to be said at this point. Cheshire realized what would happen if sheturned away from the Light; Deathstroke had reinforced that idea very clearly.
It was time to disappear now, and take his place at the threshold of the Light. Their plans were progressing beautifully.

Jade watched him walk and she did not take her eyes off of him until he was far out of view. Once he was she looked down at her daughter. Slade had made it very clear on what was to happen should she slip up and she believed him and she would do whatever it took to keep Lian safe, even if that meant staying away from her for the time being. Whatever The Light was up to now it had to be something big, they were not ones to work on a small scale and that concerned Jade. Whatever this was they had felt the need to reach out to her and rope her back in and they wouldn't have done that unless they needed to extra muscle.
Lian looked up at her mother and then to the swings, pointing at them Play. the girl demanded but Jade shook her head. Just because Slade was out of sight didn't mean he was gone and she was not feeling comfortable being out in the open like this with her back to such a large area. Maybe later. she told her daughter, standing up and picking the girl up with her, resting her on her hip. How about we go to the pet store? Would you like that? Lian quickly forgot all about the swings when she heard 'pet store' and she threw her hands in the air yeah! let go pet store. The mother smiled and started walking back toward the street and kept on down the sidewalk. Roy was going to be so pissed at her...not only for bringing a kitten to his apartment but for leaving like she was going to have to and she wanted to avoid that discussion for as long as possible.
