-------------------------------------------------------------------
Fear: Being a disappointment in the eyes of Batman/ losing any of his close friends.
Desire: For the world to be a better and safer place, where true justice always prevails.
HABITS: Although Dick mostly kicked his habit of running off on his team without telling him what he was doing he will still do it from time to time due to force of habit. Another of his habits is removing affixes from words and using the remaining neologisms as a pun, he calls these 'unwords' e.g. removing the 'over' from the world 'overwhelmed' and creating the unword- 'whelmed' to describe being a middle ground of being neither underwhelmed or overwhelmed.
PET PEEVE: Being compared to Batman.
STRENGTHS:
• Mastery of acrobatics
• Mastery of martial arts
• Stealth
• Detective skills
• Computer hacking
WEAKNESSES:
• Lack of superpowers
• Communication skills
• Self doubt/ need for approval
TRAITS: Dick Grayson is jovial and light hearted by nature and his personality reflects this most of the time, however, years of accompanying Batman and witnessing terrible evils such as the murder of his parents and the death of Jason Todd have made Nightwing a more serious and darker character than when he was Robin. He's determined in whatever he does and usually confident in his own abilities, however, this confidence is juxtaposed by his issues of self doubt and his need for approval from Batman, but as Dick knows, Batman very rarely shows any approval. Dick also has an issue with communication, and although this improved when he became leader of the Young Justice Team he will often still do things alone, this is apparent particularly when he's faced with his own personal issues that he would rather face alone. Dick also has the tendency to mimic Batman and his scary, brooding, non-compromising and strict morality driven character, this only ever happens when he is pushed to his absolute limits by a villain and all other approaches towards crime fighting have been exhausted.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
HISTORY: Dick was born into the travelling circus: Haly's Circus, he was part of a family team of acrobats named 'The Flying Graysons'. During his childhood he perfected his ability of acrobatics which would greatly help him in his future as a crime fighter. Overall, his childhood was very enjoyable and Dick often looks back on his childhood with happiness, his time at Haly's Circus is considered by Dick to be one of the best times of his life. This time was ruined by the murder of his parents at the hands (although his mob henchmen did the deed) of mob boss Tony Zuco. Dick was adopted by Bruce Wayne following the death of his parents as he was in the crowd watching The Flying Graysons the night Zuco had their trapeze sabotaged and sent them to their doom. It didn't take long for Dick to figure out that Bruce Wayne was Batman, and with this knowledge he asked to become his crime fighting aide. After months of hard training Dick was able to debut as Robin at the ripe old age of nine, as Batman's trusty sidekick he fought alongside him against some of the most evil villains in the world, this included bringing down Tony Zuco, the man behind his parents murder.
At the age of thirteen Robin was given his first look of the Hall of Justice, alongside Speedy, Kid Flash, Aqualad. Annoyed at the fact that their tour of the Hall of Justice was a sham, Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad set off to investigate a fire at a Project Cadmus facility. This investigation led to the discovery of Superboy and thus gave the four heroes the idea to create a team of partners, not sidekicks. The Justice League went along with the idea and aloud the team to be created, adding Miss Martian and eventually Artemis to the original team roster. Although Robin was deemed too young and not cooperative enough to lead the team he was still a vital part of it, being the most experienced hero and arguably the most well rounded member despite being the youngest.
Sometime after freeing The Justice League from The Light, Dick began to mature into a young adult and felt the Robin persona was holding him back, as Robin he would always be Batman's kid sidekick, and so he took up the mantle of Nightwing at the age of eighteen, meanwhile, still keeping good relations with Batman. The death of the second Robin, Jason Todd impacted Dick in a severe way, initially leading him down a darker path and away from his younger and more jovial self. Jason's death also lead to Nightwing becoming particularly defensive of his teammates and friends, in particular over Tim Drake, who Dick viewed as a brother and swore to never let any harm come to him.
Dick became leader of the Young Justice team following a clever rouse from him and Aqualad who went under deep cover to infiltrate The Light. Dick was a successful leader of the team, however, upon Aqualad's return and with The Light apparently defeated he still willingly gave up his position as team leader in order for Aqualad to return to his role. As a senior member of the team Dick was still looked up to and was respected by the team. Gradually, Dick began to take on more solo missions over time (partly motivated by the 'death' of his best friend and original team member, Wally West) and eventually took a hiatus from the team to become the protector of Blüdhaven, his main nemesis being Blockbuster and the corrupt police force of the city, however, following Blockbuster's murder Dick returned to the team.

RP SAMPLE: “Missed me?” Nightwing held his arms out as if he was presenting himself to the team again for the first time, he wore the same cocky smirk on his face like he always used to whenever he’d surprise people. He was particularly fond of his signature smirk during combat whenever an opponent would underestimate him, but he liked suprising his friends just as much, and the sudden arrival of Nightwing certainly warranted the smirk. “No welcoming committee? I’m whelmed to say the least.” Dick chuckled and looked around his teammates who still hadn’t moved an inch, all of them, bar Aqualad who was smiling warmly had looks of surprise plastered over their faces. “Allow me to reintroduce myself.” Dick smirked and strolled towards the team as they finally made their way over to him to welcome him back
ANYTHING ELSE? I studied A level English Literature for two years during sixth form (Last two years of British high school) and that involved coursework on creative writing of my own and of course meant I’d studied all kinds of literature at a decent level. I’m not sure how relevant that is but I suppose it was worth a mention. I’m also study History at university, although I’m certain that has zero relevance.
