FEAR: Ra’s Al Ghul fears being unable to access the Lazarus Pit. Doing so may lead to his demise, which is a scary thing indeed. Not only that, but a suitable heir is yet to be chosen, who will inherit his empire and continue his legacy once he is gone.
DESIRE: To remove all of the evils of humanity that Ra’s deems a blight upon the World through any means that he deems to be necessary. And to also find an heir he feels is worthy to inherit his empire. At the moment, Ra’s believes Bruce Wayne to be a suitable successor to follow after him as the ‘Demon Head’, as well as a suitable mate for his daughter; Talia.
HABITS: Ra’s Al Ghul has this rather nasty habit of coming back from the dead. He’s never gone for too long, and always seems to come back.
PET PEEVES: Ra’s Al Ghul can’t stand others who have an inability to show respect to others, when it is deserved. It irks Ra’s immensely, and he won’t hesitate to drill respect into others if deemed necessary.
STRENGTHS:
• Genius Level Intellect: Ra’s is an extremely intelligent individual, and has learnt a great deal about a wide variety of different subjects; from sciences and medicine, to fighting disciplines and more. His intelligent mind aids him in all factors of life, even in combat as he is easily able to read his opponent..
• Master Swordsman: Ra’s Al Ghul is a master with any blade in his hand. He uses speed, power and precision to decimate opponents with skilful strikes, and does so in an effortless manner. Ra’s is known for taking on multiple foes when he trains, typically dispatching of them in little time with ease. He has also taught many others how to use a sword, including Batman.
• Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Whilst his physical enhancements have something to do with making Ra’s a formidable opponent when it comes to unarmed combat. Ra’s great resources, and long live has allowed him to spend a great deal of time learning a variety of different disciplines, making him capable of rivalling many of the World’s greatest unarmed combatants.
• Master Tactician/Strategist: Ra’s is a particularly great tactician, often always having a plan which may even be years off ever coming to a fruition. He’s also very good at this when it comes to combat, planning and plotting his moves ten moves in advance of his opponent. Ra’s knows what he wants to do, and will execute it, always.
• Multilingual: Ra’s Al Ghul is capable of speaking many languages fluently, such as; Arabic, French, Greek, Latin, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese, Mandarin, Urdu, multiple Indian languages and more.
• Weapons Master: Ra’s has several centuries’ worth of experience of using both modern and old-world weaponry. In most scenarios, Ra’s prefers weapons such as katanas, European swords, polearms and axes.
WEAKNESSES:
• Lazarus Pit: Ra’s Al Ghul has something of an over reliance on the Lazarus Pit. It’s his safety blanket, his fall back plan. Ra’s is beatable, and therefore he needs the Lazarus Pit in order to return to life. But with knowing that it is there, for Ra’s own use; it does bring an overconfidence factor as well, a belief that he has no fear of anything of anyone, because he’ll always be able to live to fight another day.
TRAITS:
Ra’s Al Ghul is a man with a wealth of experience having lived through many periods within the history of our World. He’s a ruthless leader, a fierce leader who doesn’t hesitate to cut down his opponents, nor is he afraid of making sacrifices to further his own agenda, of which only he knows. Ra’s is a man of honor though, that of which he believes must be always held to a high standard. In most cases, Ra’s carries himself with a reserved, calm and stoic manner. He is always thinking, always looking ahead of everyone else. Though at times, Ra’s can appear impatient. No more so than with those of whom are not a part of his League of Shadows. Ra’s demands respects, and firmly believes that all in his presence should behave with such respect. Ra’s only ever gives out orders once, and will never repeat himself. He expects others to listen, and to follow what he says to the very fine print. Failure to do so may be deemed to be as bad as treason, woth the resulting penalty most certainly being death.
Through the centuries, Ra’s Al Ghul has developed his own organization, the League of Shadows - a group of fierce warriors and assassins that treat Ra’s with the upmost respect and reverence. Each and every one of them are willing to do Ra’s bidding, and follow his instructions to the finer detail otherwise risk aggravating the Demon Head – so much so, that if he tells one to sleep, then they will, immediately. Despite how loyal his subjects are, even willing to die for him. When instructions are given, Ra’s only informs them of what they need to expressly know, instead keeping his thoughts and plans on the bigger picture to himself and perhaps a select few that he trusts.

HISTORY:
The boy with no-name who grew up to become Ra’s Al Ghul was born over seven hundred years ago. He was born to a tribe of nomads, in a desert located somewhere in Arabia near to a city who’s residents ancestors had journeyed to the Arabian peninsula from China. From an early age Ra’s Al Ghul had a keen interest in science. But he was unable to learn anything about Science living life as a nomad. This prompted Ra’s Al Ghul to eventually leave the tribe, and to go live in the city. Here, he began conducting research into various scientific fields and went on to become a physician, as well as marrying a woman named; Sora – the love of his life.
Eventually Ra’s discovers the secret of the Lazarus Pit, and saves a prince close to death by lowering him into the pit. The sadistic Prince stepped out of the pit completely insane, and proceeded to strangle Ra’s wife; Sora – who the prince had his eye on prior to this event. He killed Sora. The ruler of the city was unwilling to believe that his son was capable of such an act, and declared Ra’s as guilty himself; sentencing to a slow, torturous death within a cage that had the corpse of Sora inside it.
But Ra’s is saved, saved by the son of an elderly blind woman. Whilst Ra’s had failed to save the elderly blind woman, her son felt indebted to Ra’s for easing the pain his mother endured during her final hours. Set free, Ra’s and the boy wandered off into the desert in search of the tribe that Ra’s was once a part of. Upon finding them, Ra’s would convince the leader of the tribe (his uncle) into following Ra’s on his quest for revenge, promising the downfall of the current ruler of the city that had sentenced him to death. As a result of Ra’s understanding of the germ theory of disease ahead of anyone else by several hundred years. Ra’s was able to infect the prince (that killed Sora) with a virus by sending him fabrics that were contaminated with the deadly virus. The ruler/king of the city discovered his son was sick, he approached Ra’s and asked for him to cure his son. Ra’s instead chose to kill him, and his son. Ra’s would then proceed to lead his tribe to tear the city down to the ground, and kill every one of the city’s inhabitants. It was then, that Ra’s declared himself as the “Demon’s Head”.
Over the next few hundred years, Ra’s travelled all over the world. During this time, Ra’s, his uncle and the boy who had saved him from death began to use Lazarus Pit’s in order to extend the longevity of their lives. At least that did so up until a particular incident that took place in London. Ra’s caught the boy doing something that Ra’s had strictly forbidden; writing his own memoirs in their original native language. The two battle one another, with Ra’s emerging as the victor but needing to flee to a Lazarus Pit as a result. When Ra’s returns to London (after having used the pit), he finds his uncle gone, along with all of their historical records.
Gradually over time, Ra’s becomes a master of a large variety of different martial art disciplines, and styles of combat (such as fencing). Not only this, but Ra’s builds up a vast amount of wealth and eventually creates the international organization known as ‘The Demon’ of which he is the head. It’s a name that has been whispered for over five hundred years through many places on Earth, believed to be a cartel of criminals and assassins that has slowly sucked its way into the rich veins of the earth. In this current, modern day, ‘The Demon’ is better known as the League of Shadows.
Ra’s Al Ghul was one of the very first members to join Randal Savage’s group known as the Light. Ra’s Al Ghul was involved with a number of key moments within the Light’s history, such as the assassination of Selena Gonzalez, kidnapping Seling Roquette, stealing information from STAR Labs and Wayne Tech. As well as aiding in reuniting North and South Rhelasia, allying with the Krolotaens and aiding their partnership with the Reach (among many other things). Of course, this all meant very little in the end.
Ra’s attended the summit between the members of the Light, as well as those of the Reach alongside his own personal guard; Ubu. Here, the Reach’s ambassador accused the Light of allowing the ‘Team’ to cleanse Blue and Green Beetle. These allegations were quickly shut down by the Light, with Ra’s going on to pointing out the failings of the Reach. Discussions would begin to turn sour, and a fight between the two sides. During the fight, Tigress deflected a stinger blast that was shot at Ra’s. Tigress apologized, and at this moment Ra’s noticed the pendent that she was wearing – recognizing the glamour charm. Aqualad calmed both sides, and discussion resumed. However, Ra’s was now curious about the charm, intrigued to learn what Tigress was hiding. He stepped towards her, and ripped the pendent away from around her neck. Tigress was revealed to be Artemis, with Ra’s announcing this to the rest of whom were assembled. It quickly became obvious that Artemis was a plant, and that Aqualad was a traitor to the Light. Deathstroke shot Aqualad, and as a result it brought up a pre-recorded message that destroyed any alliance between the Reach and the Light. Things broke down into a fight, with many of the Light’s members fleeing the scene. During this fight, Black Beetle managed to stab Ra’s Al Ghul through the chest, killing him. Ubu grabbed Ra’s Al Ghul, and fled the scene, claiming that his master would be resurrected.
Ra’s Al Ghul returned to life as a result of being lowered into the Lazarus Pit. Things remained quiet for several more months, until eventually Lex Luthor approached Ra’s Al Ghul to reform the Light with a new plan in mind to restore the former glory of the Light. Ra’s Al Ghul now lends his resources to the Light’s new plan as they go about creating a meta-human army to defeat the Justice League, and for the Light to gain control of the World as we know it.
