Garfield "Gar" Logan
14. status Hero

14. status Hero
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ALIAS(ES): Beast Boy
BIRTHDAY: 4th of December
BIRTHPLACE: Logan Animal Sanctuary - Qurac
CURRENT: Garfield is currently staying with the rest of The Team, tending to his training and studies. Though he is known to occasionally, when allowed, travel back to Qurac, to check on the old Animal Sanctuary.
FAMILY:
• Mother: Marie Logan (Deceased)
• Father: Mark Logan (Deceased)
• Sibling: "Blood sister" Miss Martian
ALLIANCE: The Team
RANK: Rookie Hero
POWER: Due to Garfield’s personal love of animals his powers manifested themselves as an extension of that. He now retains the ability to shape shift himself into any known animal, as long as he has had any meaningful contact with it, or in any way studied its physique and abilities. While in the animal form he gains its specific characteristics as well as its inbred abilities, such as speed, agility, strength or modes of movement such as flight. This also means taking on the animal’s specific weaknesses and limitations.
His senses also work at an increased level, allowing him a better vision than the average human, as well as hearing and scent. This makes him quite the excellent tracker.
WEAPON: His ability to shape shift into animal forms remains his greatest weapon, making use of the characteristics of the animal, such as claws and fangs, sheer size, or strength. He tends to pick the animal depending on the situation, though he prefers larger robust animals, such as Rhinos or Elephants. In general he seems to have a liking for the animals that remind him of his birth home, though he does not limit himself to those.
BLOOD TYPE: O - Negative
ORIENTATION: Being only 14 years of age, he remains quite undecided on these matters.
MENTOR: Garfield has no official mentors, though he retains a special bond with Miss Martian, who he counts as his blood sister, bonded by the blood transfusion that saved his life, as well as gave him his specific abilities. As such she remains perhaps the closest thing to a mentor he can come.
COLOR(S): Red and Green
UNIFORM: Garfield more or less always wears a fitted and padded red one piece bio-suit uniform, trimmed with white. It’s been preprogrammed to shift with his abilities, making it the only piece of clothing that allows for him to change shape, without ruining it. When in full animal form, it changes into a simple red collar, fitted around the animal’s neck.
Once he returns to his human or preferred simian form, it easily shifts back, preventing any awkward situations.
DESCRIPTION: Garfield’s appearance was drastically altered when his powers manifested. His usual tanned complexion, from the countless hours spends under the sun, tending to the animals, turned a deep, rich shade of green. Even his blue eyes turned into similar vibrant and lively orbs of jade, and his messy red hair took on a darker dusky shade, like the shadows you’d see under the trees. The manifestation of his powers even showed through some of his features, the slightly elongated and pointed ears, as well as more prominent and pointed canines.
Despite these changes however, Garfield remains somewhat short for his age, his body fit and agile from exercise and training, yet it still has some of the awkward teenage ganglyness over it. Something he personally hopes might turn into a growth spurt, giving him those few extra inches, so he can measure up to his older team mates. Perhaps the dark green short cropped hair, that seems perpetually pushed into a semi spiky mess, is an attempt to make him look just a tiny bit taller as well.

Fear: Despite Garfield’s rather short life; he’s already had to live through a lot of loss and sorrow. Though he would never classify his life or childhood as neither sad nor traumatic, it is still true that he lost both his parents in both sad and tragic ways. And even though he remains an optimistic life loving youth, loosing those close to him, is still his greatest fear, one that at times weigh heavy on his young shoulders.
Another fear that might weigh on the teenagers mind, though less dramatic, is the fear of being inadequate. Being amongst the youngest of the superheroes there’s a lot to live up to, and though he does not linger too much on the possibilities of failing, it is still there, in the corners of his mind.
Desire: Garfield is still young and his desires and wishes for the future is somewhat colored by his age, either by being rooted in the at times idyllic idealism you can find in a child, or being spurred on by the unrealistic grandeur of the same. Amongst these desires is the, to a young superhero, ever present wish to save the world, to join the Justice League, and to meet all the major super heroes, being somewhat of a fanatic fan. Though not all of these desires are unreachable or childlike in nature the intensity he devotes to them, can be.
He also prides himself of his collection of mission souvenirs, continuously wishing to make it bigger.
Amongst the deeper rooted desires is also the wish to keep his birth home, the animal sanctuary back in Qurac, in safe hands, keeping the memory of his deceased parents alive through the shared home, as well as making certain their work is continued and valued, and the animals they took in, remain safe.
He shares the same hopes and wishes for his new ‘family’ The Team, wanting them to stay safe, to stay alive… having already experienced too much loss for one lifetime.
HABITS: One of Garfield’s major habits, and one of the more visible ones, is perhaps his tendency to remain in a simian like shape for longer periods of time. It appears to be quite his preferred shape, and somewhat of a monkey human hybrid, leaving him a lot furrier than usual, with a long flexible tail and feet and hands made for climbing. Something he happily abuses - a lot. Taking on other random animal shapes, just for the fun of it, does seem to be well within his comical repertoire as well.
Another one of his more prominent habits is his growing collection of mission souvenirs. A collection he prides himself of, as it tells the story of his and the team - his new family - lives and successes.
Garfield is also a firm vegetarian, refusing to eat the meat of the animals whose shapes he so frequently imitate. Having literally walked in their footsteps it is perhaps not surprising that he would refrain from eating them. He refrains from preaching or pushing his vegetarianism on others, however, though he may be quite known for praising the veggie food in subtle alluring ways, hoping to sway his friends onto a more ‘animal’ friendly diet.
It is also for the same reasons that he seem to avoid turning into carnivorous creatures, unless the situation specifically calls for it.
PET PEEVE:
• Being treated like just a child. Even though he may be one of the youngest of the team, and far from an adult, he still wishes to be seen as at the very least… a superhero in training.
• Animal Cruelty. His love for the animal creatures of the world appears to know no bounds, no matter the species. And he knows nothing worse than to witness brutality against his critter friends, or the effects of it. This also counts for racial hatred towards color or nationality, or brutality of any kind.
• People who pick on his big ‘sister’ Miss Martian, or his extended family ‘The Team’. No one messes with his family.
STRENGTHS:
• One of Garfield’s strengths, not counting the obvious animal shape shifting, is definitely his optimism and love of life. Despite having lost his family, he managed to pull himself through the crushing sorrow, and now remains a cheery and socially fueled youth.
• Having lost his father at an early age, Garfield did attempt to live up to the new status as ‘the man of the house’, helping his mother tend to the animals and the many jobs around the sanctuary. It gave him a sense of maturity and responsibility for others, that many at his age might lack.
WEAKNESSES:
• If you were to ask Garfield himself what his weaknesses might be, one of the few things he’d come up with would most likely be his age. Being amongst the youngest of the team members, it does at times limit him from participating or even relating to the things going on around him. Being prohibited from joining his team members in clubs or bars amongst one of the limitations his age offers.
• His youth also makes his experience, both in life in general, and in the world of the superheroes and missions, somewhat limited. And though he remains, at least in some senses, mature for his age, he does have a tendency to get caught up in ‘life’ or in the excitement of being a superhero with a mission.
TRAITS: Much like his preferred simian form, Gar is an easily adaptable, athletic, energetic and always ready to swing his way through life type of personality, using any means possible, hands, feet or tail, even wings!
He continues to balance on the edge between a childlike eagerness and love of life, to a mature young superhero with a strong sense of responsibility and a deep devotion to those who have won his loyalty.
He has already seen the dark side of life, knowing quite well just what kind of pain and heartbreak it can offer, yet it has never stopped him from continuously wishing to explore his own life to its fullest.
He pushes onwards through life, like a bulldozer, knowing he is still young, and that the world has so much more to offer him of both good and bad, and he spares no energy when it comes to persuing his own goals and dreams of becoming a truly worthy superhero, while always being ready to lending a hand or a paw… to those of his friends who might need it.

HISTORY: ‘Normal’ is a rather relative term, how do you define normal? Normal compared to what?
If asked, Garfield would claim his childhood was fairly normal, though most people might disagree, claiming that being the son of a TV actress who abandoned her semi failing career, to marry a part time veterinarian and full time owner of an animal sanctuary in Qurac… might not classify as ‘normal.’ But to Gar, life at the sanctuary was all the ‘normal’ he needed.
He loved the Logan Animal Sanctuary, and his parents always encouraged him to take part in the work around the small farm, and the tending of the animals connected to the sanctuary. It was a good childhood, one with just the right kind of adventure for a young boy, and enough animal friends to keep his need for pets sated. He was a natural with the animals as well, gifted with an affinity for connecting with the more peaceful creatures around the sanctuary, and he seemed to revel in their friendship and continuously strived to learn more about them, building on the bonds he created. So that he might one day follow in his father’s footsteps.
The life in the Qurac wilderness had its disadvantages as well however. Being far from civilization meant that the small sanctuary was left mostly free of outside influence, but it also meant being far away from any nearby hospitals, or any other means of aid when nature decided to show itself from its less forgiving side. And it did so, one day when Gar was no more than five years old, the rivers rose, flooding the plains, causing havoc in the small sanctuary and eventually claiming the life of his father.
The loss was hard on both the young Gar, and his mother, but together they pushed through the sorrow, now more than ever, devoting their focus to the care of the animals, and life soon continued along the same path.
Right up until Queen Bee in an attempt to take over the neighboring land of Qurac, send the Bialyan soldiers crossing over the border and into the Animal sanctuary. The heavy machinery broke through the pens and frightened the animals, and Garfield and his mother, were nearly killed by a stampeding herd of wilder beasts while attending to an injured oryx. All three of them were saved by The Team, represented by Miss Martian, Conner, Robin and Kid Flash.
Unfortunately, the earlier defeat of the soldiers attracted the attention of more Bialyan men, and when morning came Garfield was injured in the explosion of their barn.
As a result of Garfield's blood type being O - Negative, none of the members of the Team could give him the much needed blood transfusion, and the hospitals where way out of reach. Luckily, however, Miss Martian was able use her shape shifting powers to modify her blood to match Garfield's. He was given the transfusion and his condition stabilized as a result, saving his life. Though as an immediate reaction to the transfusion, his eyes turned from their usual pale blue, to a bright lively green.
In an attempt to stop Queen Bee’s plans, The Team left the following morning. Their mission turned out to be a success, and Queen Bee was forced to retreat out of Qurac. She was however aware of The Teams involvement in the destruction of her plans, and she sought out Miss Martian as she returned to say goodbye to Gar and his family, threatening the Logan family, should Miss Martian attempt any future missions like the one they’d just undertaken.
After this the team left the Logan Animal Sanctuary, to Gars great regret. He’d grown fond of the superheroes, Miss Martian in particular, knowing full well, that he owed her his life, and already feeling a growing bond towards the Martian superhero. After their departure the small sanctuary no longer seemed as full of adventure as it used to, and Gar now dreamt of heroes and super powers, though it was not until another tragedy struck, that he realized just how well within reach those dreams were.
A month after The Team had said their goodbyes, Queen Bee, perhaps in an attempt to enact revenge, enthralled Gars mother to drive her car of a cliff, depriving him of his last living parent. The new loss threatened to destroy him, but it also proved to be the catalyst for the final part of his transformation, one that had begun with Miss Martian’s blood transfusion. Fueled by another tragic loss, his skin and hair changed colors, turning a deep green, and his body adapted the ability to reshape his own appearance into the animals that he already felt so closely connected too.
With the news of Gars new status as an orphan, along with his newly found abilities, the Team adopted him into their circle, starting his training towards becoming a true superhero, and Gar has remained with them ever since. There he focuses most of his time on his training and learning how to fully master his transformations, as well as continuing his studies into the animal lore, building up a mental library of their nature and physique, allowing him to take on their shape.
It is the latter part that from time to time makes him seek out his old birth home, the Logan Animal Sanctuary. (Upon his mother’s death, it was taken over by a fond, running the place after the Logan family traditions, honoring the memory and legacy of his parents.) He spends the time there, studying the animals, and forming new meaningful connections to strengthen his own abilities to transform, as well as adding new shapes to his repertoire.
He has recently spent a few months at the sanctuary and has only just returned home to his new extended family, The Team.

NAME: Kitten
EXPERIENCE: I’ve been RP’ing for about 12 years. I started LARP’ing when I was 18, and within the first year I ran the small RP community with a group of close friends, turning it from a small 20 man community into a 150 + junior campaign.
After that I taught Pen and Paper and GM’ed campaigns at a Youth school for about a year, while getting into forum RP and mmorpg’s. Running RPG guilds and helping out on RP forums. So I’ve tried just about any type of RP, real life and online, that I’ve come across, and absolutely love it! And even after 12 years, I’ve still not had enough

RP SAMPLE:
... He’d closed his eyes, in order to better concentrate, drawing his focus into that quiet little place at the far back of his mind, the one that was stripped from all the shinnies and distractions that the world had to offer. The ‘workspace’ or his ‘library.’
Though it was easier said than done, retreating into the quiet space. Even now he was struggling, his mind constantly trying to rebel against the tight space, trying to sneak out as he wanted to close the door on it.
The grass under his feet suddenly felt coarser, sharp little blades stabbing at his ankles, a light breeze send a crackling ripple through the golden green autumn leaves over his head, a creek nearby … ‘wait.. No no… there’s no escaping! I am doing this!’
His green features twisted into a mask of fierce concentration, the odd comical expression making him look perhaps even younger than ever. “.. There we go… into the library we go… close the door… and….” He poured all his strength of will into the new efforts and slowly his mind emptied itself from all the outside distractions.
A single drop of chilled October rain fell from the graying sky above him; it broke against the wild dusky green mane, before it was followed by another, demanding attention as it trickled down his neck. But the door was closed now. His mind was blank, but for one single image, and the rain failed at steering him away from it.
The prehistoric animal was painted clearly against the dark canvas of his empty mind. It had been easy enough to pull up once he’d gained control of his focus. Though it was still not perfect...’So much work to do yet…’ He mumbled to himself, his voice almost echoing in the empty space he’d created.
He pushed his mind at the image, using his thoughts as a sophisticated paintbrush, running it over the dark skin, dapping specs of color onto it, adding in the faintest outlines of coarse pores, dry crackled patches, creases where the muscles underneath made the skin bend and stretch on a daily basis.
He continued like that for ages, recreating the living surface step by step, down into perfection. Then as he was satisfied… He stripped the skin of the beast. Peeled it away like the layer of an onion, and discarding it with a casualness that seemed to belie the efforts in which he’d just poured into the creation of it. Though instead of the skin, he now revealed another unfinished canvas of flesh. A maze of red stringy muscles that stretched the full length of the prehistoric animal.
Another set of raindrops splattered into the now damp mane of grass-like hair, stubbornly finding new pathways down over his forehead, or trickling down the pointed rim of his ear. But his attention was fully sealed on his mental project, as he picked up the ‘brush’ once more, and painted the complex network of flesh and tissue, into a fully functional machine of strong muscles and elastic tendons. He let the creature move, tested out the flexibility of its limbs, the way the muscles allowed the tail to flex and swish, as it swung it with a strength and determination that no living creature could hope to imitate… then he once more stripped away the finished layer, storing it on a shelve in his library, as he continued to reverse engineer the dinosaur literally down to its bones.
He drew up the heavy bones, and connected the joints one by one with thick cartilage plates, all the while he made mental notes of how the bone structure influenced the way the beast moved. Comparing it to the intricate web of muscles he’d recreated earlier.
It was a lot of work, so he couldn’t really blame his mind for wanting to escape the dark quiet confinements of his mental library, but when it came down to it, it was work he loved. The complete focus and study of a new creature. Recreating it in his mind. Preparing it… Like a tailor would prepare the pattern for a suit… Making it fit just… perfect. And it did fit. Him.
The layers all slipped back unto the bones, a complete mesh of bones, muscles and skin, a fully functional, operational dinosaur suit… and his mind almost melted into the creation on its own, drawn by the finished appeal of it, and his body recreating the design he’d just finished, morphing… molding… until the ground shook under the heavy shape of a young brachiosaur.
It was all he could do not to let out a squeal of victory, a loud mental one at the very least, as he bounded forward, his previously completely still body, suddenly in motion as e did the best imitation of a dinosaur dance that he could possible think of…
‘OH YEAH!’… No one was going to tell him that dinosaurs couldn’t dance…
ANYTHING ELSE? Whereas I have a fair deal of experience in RP’ing in general, this is my first time RP’ing a canon character. As such I hope everyone will bear over with me, until I find my proverbial feet. I also hope that’ll extend to this application, as I have not been one hundred percent certain on how to approach it. So I’ve done my best to stick to the TV Show, (gave me a wonderful excuse to watch them all again!), and the Young Justice Wikipedia, borrowing one or two paragraphs here and there, while adding in my own take on certain things, hopefully giving my own spin on Beast Boys history. I do hope that is all within acceptable parameters
As a last note, English is not my native language, so please do forgive me if my language at times seem limited, or if my grammar is off. I strive to improve it
