Alexandra ”Alex” Shaw
19. Status: Vigilanti
-------------------------------------------------------------------
19. Status: Vigilanti
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ALIAS(ES): Blaze
BIRTHDAY: 8th of september
BIRTHPLACE:
CURRENT: Alex is currently chrashing in an abandoned werehouse in Blüdhaven that she’s decorated into a small semi decent apartment.
FAMILY:
• Father: Lieutenant Andrew Shaw (deceased)
• Mother: Diana Shaw, 43
ALLIANCE: none atm.
POWER: Alex has developed the ability to create fire out of seemingly nothing. Heating the air around her hands and body until it spontaneously combusts. It seems to be tied into her emotional responses, anger and fear the more potent ones.
- Creating/controlling fire.
- Flight (by manipulation the air around her, heating it and controlling it to allow her something close to a flight mode.)
BLOOD TYPE: AB
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual.
SCARS AND MARKINGS: Alex has a pair of burning pheonix wings tattoed across her shoulder blades, to remember her father by.
UNIFORM: Alex is currently working on an idea for a power suit, an intricate invention that will allow her to move quickly, and freely, and at the same time help her control her powers and the excess heat that she at times develops, using it to instead boost abilities such as her flight mode.
On a daily basis, she tends to dress in a personal mix of gothic punk, dark leathers and high boots. Often with a cap or a hat, pulled tightly down over her long black hair and eyes. She is however known to wear a tight fitted cat suit underneath it all, in a fire-resistant material, in an attempt to prevent any embarrassing situations should she lose control. She may be fireproof, but her clothes are not.
She also always, wears a set of old dented dogtags around her neck.
DESCRIPTION: Alex stands about 178 cm tall, with long shapely legs and the soft female curves of a woman of her age. Her body fit and with just a faint outline of muscles, speaking more of agility and dexterity than of physical strength.
Her skin is a soft natural tan, that seems to indicate that she may have some latino blood somewhere in her history, the long raven black hair that frames her face only strengthening that look. Her eyes however seem to have shifted from the dark brown, almost black, that you would have expected, to a burning bright amber shade. You might even say they gleam with an inner fire.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Fear: Alex’s greatest fear, having already survived the loss of her father, is to never understand what happened to him. To be forced to go through her life, without getting the chance to solve the biggest mystery of her life. What happened that day? What where her father working on? And did it have anything to do with the manifestation of her own powers…
Another fear that keeps haunting her, is the possibility that she may one day loose control of her powers, in a way that would put herself or others in dangers. So a lot of her focus, goes to controlling herself and her emotions.
Desire: On the line with Alex’s biggest fear is her biggest desire. The need to solve the same mystery that keeps worrying her. She still cannot help but blame the US military for having caused the freak accident that took her father from her, and a part of her, still plays around with the idea of avenging his death. A desire that keeps her balancing on the edge, and fuels that core of fire that seems to be burning within her.
She has more down to earth desires as well however, one of them being something as simple as retaining control of her own life, being able to take care of herself, control herself, and to remain a free and independent personality… Yet that seem to clash with something deeper within her… a rising loneliness that she has yet to come to terms with.
HABITS: Alex has a tendency to either chew on her hair, or her lip when she gets caught in a situation that she’s uncomfortable with. Or randomly fiddling with the worn set of dogtags that hangs around her neck.
Though she is too stubborn to admit her social awkwardness, and instead pushes people away from her.
Even now that she is trying to reach out a bit more… she seems to struggle with not slipping back into her old patterns.
PET PEEVE: Alex does seem to have a mild issue with authorities… and uniforms in general. It seems to remind her of her father’s superiors, and it puts her inner core boiling in a most unpleasant way.
Being told what she can or cannot do, seems to have much the same effect on her, even to the exend that she doesn’t always believe the law applies to her. At least not if it’s in the name of ‘the greater good’ or… sometimes ‘her greater good’.
She however also dislikes general cruelty, and the sometimes too obvious lack of concern for the lesser fortunate of society. Having been a child of the foster care system, she seems to relate to a lot of the troubled youth and homeless in an around the larger American cities.
STRENGTHS:
• Her at times quite explosive powers. The ability to create or control already existing (normal untampered with) fire.
• Her survivor personality.
• Her technogical provess
• Her independence
WEAKNESSES:
• Her sometimes failing emotional control, and random outbursts of flames.
• Her sometimes all consuming need to know what happened to her father.
• Her stubborn disability to admit that she is lonely.
TRAITS:
Alex is marked by her increasing suspicion and bitterness towards the US Government and everything they stand for. Still firm in her believes that the army is to blame for the accident that cost her father his life. Something that angers her more than anything, her father being a dutiful disciplined man, who wished for nothing else but to serve his country, and stand up for the American values. Values his daughter still shares, though she’s lost all faith in the institutionalized world, now believing that if you wish to change the world, you must take it upon yourself. It’s turned the young girl into a bit of a vigilante, who doesn’t always hesitate with breaking the law, if it it’s for the … greater good. She however remains a humanitarian friend, out of respect for her father’s memory, and though she struggles to survive on her own, she does what she can to help those around her, and it is perhaps this side of her, that prevents her from being devoured by her own bitterness, and keeps her faith in humanity alive.
She’s also lately started to struggle with some of the consekvenses of her choices. Having devoted the last few years to trying and solving the mystery of her father’s work, she’s pushed just about every other living relative, as well as old friends or any live connection… away from herself, leaving her alone, with no one but her cat to talk to. Something that has not bothered her up to now… but something does seem to be changing.

HISTORY:
Alexandra Shaw was raised by her father, a strict military man, serving in the US Army. Her mother could not bear to live with a soldier, the stress of potential danger and loss, driving her to leave the small family, even leaving her daughter behind. Forced to leave active field duty, to take care of his young daughter, Andrew Shaw took up a job in the research and development department of the army. Having already served as an arsonist and incendiary expert, the technology came easy to him.
Alex adored her father, and the life of the young girl revolved solely around him, and she seemed to only thrive when they were together. Her father was equally quick to dote on the young Alex as well, hating to leave her alone in their small townhouse, or continuously struggling with finding babysitters who could keep up with the will strung little girl. So he took to bringing her with him to work, whenever he could, teaching her as well as looking after her, and she quickly came to show the same talents for technology as well as explosives as her father.
Andrew Shaws talents for his work didn’t go unnoticed however, and as the military learned of his increasing progress in continuing to weaponize fire, he received several promotions over a short span of time. And as his job became increasingly more secretive, his times spend with Alex decreased.
The now young teenager, was forced to watch her father grow increasingly more stressed and frustrated with his work and refusing to talk to her about it, or continue the previous lessons. The new changes making their previously so close family relations suffer under the new secrets. Until Alex brings it on herself to discover what her father is up to. She sneakily follows him to work one day, though unable to enter the strictly secured research area.
As it happens she ends up forced to see the research facilities explode and burn to the ground in a freak accident, almost costing her, her own life. It’s during this life altering incident that her own powers flare to life, though she is still rendered helpless in attempting to safe her father.
After her father’s death, Alex is send from foster care to foster care, growing increasingly more angry and struggling with keeping her new powers under control and hidden. Failing several times and a line of spontaneous fires and explosions seem to follow her trail. Until the social services are no longer able to find anyone willing to take care of her, finally giving in and sending her to an institution, from which she quickly escapes, intent on living her own life… and avenging her father. Fully blaming the government for the accident that cost him his life, and intent on finding the truth about his work.
Having reached an age where she is now legally responsible for her own life, she’s taking up residence in an abandoned where house, were she spends most of her time working on a power suit that she hopes will help her control her own powers.
