-------------------------------------------------------------------
HISTORY: (the basic back story I got from Raven’s Wikipedia and Wikia sites, and I’ve mixed her histories from the cartoon and the comic Ravens. I did add a pretty decent amount of spin to it, I think) Raven was the product of human mother, Arella, and inter-dimensional demon, Trigon. Raven and her mother lived peacefully together in Jump City until her powers started displaying themselves at the age of five. Noticing that her daughter’s powers were difficult to control, and lined with strong emotions, Arella set out to find a safe haven for her and her daughter. After a good deal of searching, Arella met an old man at a diner that turned out to be a monk of Azarath. At the age of nine, after spending four years in isolation with only her mother’s company and that of the monks, Raven was allowed to attend a small school in Azarath. At the age of 11, a profit came to one of the elder monks in regards to a vision she had had about Raven unintentionally aiding in the ascension of her father, which would bring about the destruction of Azarath. The elders believed that what was meant to come from fate would come. One monk, however, believed that this could be stopped and kidnapped Raven in hopes of killing her and saving his world. Alas, his efforts to kill Raven ended in his death instead. By the age of thirteen, Raven had grown accustomed to her life on Azarath and, despite her inability to feel deep emotions; she made very close friends with a couple of her classmates. At fourteen, Raven started experiencing uncontrollable fits of rage, vengeful thoughts, and strange marks began to appear and disappear from her skin. Out of fear, Raven took council from an elder monk and he told her of her father’s ascension and her role in the ordeal. Out of fear and shame, Raven prepared to flee Azarath in order to protect her home, but was too late. Her father used her body as a portal to destroy Azarath. Raven, deeply saddened, fled to Earth and traced her mother’s records back to the old apartment they lived in when she was a child. The apartment complex was condemned, but not necessarily that unsafe, and Raven lived there while attending a local school until she was sixteen. Raven kept control over her emotions, and thus over her powers, very well. Though, after accidentally killing a mugger at sixteen with her powers, Raven was questioned by the Justice League. For nearly a year Raven was in question, and did not speak the entire time, and was released under surveillance. While walking at night, Raven came across a group of young super heroes fighting off a bad guy and helped in aiding them. One was injured, and she helped heal him and he smiled and thanked her. Which struck her very deeply. After the assailant was defeated, the leader of the group asked Raven for her name and where she was from. Raven said nothing and tried to leave, but was then asked to join their team temporarily, as there seemed to have been a flux of bad activity in Jump City. Raven agreed, and was with them under the guise of a temporary title for over a year. The signs of her father’s ascension started showing again at 18, and her teammates (concerned for her safety and wellbeing) began to worry for her. Raven tried fleeing Earth, but was stopped by a fellow teammate who convinced her to let them help her. Eventually her father overpowered her will and used her as a portal, but Raven (being older, stronger, and more capable of fighting) was able to defeat her father temporarily. By the age of 19, Raven had grown very close to her fellow teammates (known as The Teen Titans) and considered them to be like family to her. After an attack on their headquarters was almost fatal, and Raven’s response to nearly losing one of her teammates passed the appropriate response of platonic friendship, she realized that she was too emotionally compromised to stay with the Teen Titans and, without consulting with them, left the team. Raven gave up crime fighting and began her life yet again as Rachel Roth. She went back to school and graduated from college at 20, and went on to get her master’s by 22 and become a librarian. Raven hid her identity from her former teammates, and currently lives in secret as a public librarian in Jump City. She is now 23.
