TRAITS:
Slade Wilson is a very complicated man. He is a man of honour who operates under a strict code of ethics, though Slade's personal moral code is different and more flexible than a hero's. Slade would never hurt an innocent person, but is not above threatening an innocent's life. Slade believes that anything is honourable during combat, and will not hesitate to fight dirty or stack the odds. Slade takes pride in his work, and will not dishonour himself by failing to complete a contract. Fiercely determined, Slade will go to extreme measures to do whatever task he is hired to do. Slade believes in using deadly force to complete a contract, however, he is particular about the jobs he chooses, often turning down jobs that would compromise his own personal moral compass, which is rather loose.
Slade's moral foil is his estranged family. He is incredibly devoted to his family, even though they have wanted nothing to do with him for the last twenty years. Slade is fiercely loyal towards his family, friends, and allies, and would gladly fight or even die for his loved ones. Slade expects his friends and allies to be loyal to him in return.
Slade is capable of maintaining a calm and serious demeanor. His sense of humour is basically nonexistent. Preferring a calculated and methodical apporach, Slade is ruthless and efficient. He always comes to a situation prepared, and mever rished to conclusions. Slade is able to stay emotionally detached from most of his contracts. Slade takes a sadistic pleasure in taunting his opponents, and loves the adrenaline rush he feels during combat. When confronted with a true challenge to his abilities, Slade will fight more emotionally and leave himself open to attacks.

HISTORY:
Slade was born in Odessa, Texas. His father had been killed in Vietnam before Slade had even been born, and so Slade's mother was forced to raise him on her own. When Slade was two, his mother married Jason Green, and the couple had two children together. Green treated Slade nicely at first, but Slade never did feel like a true part of the family. As time went on, Green developed into a heavy drinker. When drunk, Green would become violent. At first, Green would only shout and throw things around. Soon Green began beating Slade's mother, and eventually Green started to beat Slade.
When Slade was ten, Green managed to kill his drinking habit and get a high-paying job at a local paper factory. With alcohol out of the picture, Green actually became a true father-like figure in Slade's life. Green often took Slade on long hunting trips into the Texas woods, and even taught Slade how to shoot a rifle. Slade also began mixed martial arts training when he was ten, mostly focusing on boxing, ninjutsu, jiu-jitsu, and muay thai.
Green was laid off when Slade was sixteen, and soon took up drinking again. Slade began to fear that his stepfather would start beating him again, but this time, Slade would be prepared. Despite his training, Slade was not able to overcome Green's superior size and strength. The night Slade fought back, he received the worse beating he had ever experienced. The next day Slade ran away. He would never see his first family again.
Slade fled to a military recruiting centre, where he lied about his age to join the military. Slade was initially sent to a training camp in California, where he performed so well that he was assigned to Special Forces and sent to a camp in Florida. In Florida, Slade met Adeline Kane, another Special Forces trainee, and William Wintergreen, the man who served as Slade's guerilla warfare instructors. Wintergreen would later become Slade's best friend, while Adeline would become his wife.
In 1990, the United States entered the Gulf War, and Slade participated in Operation Desert Storm. Meanwhile, Adeline stayed home to take care of their newborn child, Grant. Slade spent a couple weeks fighting in the Middle East, and continued to impress his superiors with his excellent combat and tactical abilities. Because of Slade's excellent military skill, he was selected to particpate in a scientific experiment to test what he was told was an anti--truth serum. In reality, the miitary was secretly trying to develop a unit of elite super soldiers.
The serum caused Slade to enter a life-threatening coma. When he awoke, six months later, he discovered that he had been the only one to survive the experiment, and that the project had been cancelled; however, Slade soon realized that his mental and physical abilities had been raised to superhuman levels.
Shortly after waking up from his coma, Slade learned that his best friend, William Wintergreen, had been captured by enemy forces during the war, but then abandoned when the war had ended weeks earlier. Slade defied direct orders and travelled to the Middle East himself to rescue Wintergreen. Unfortunately, Slade was unable to save his friend's life, though he was able to recover Wintergreen's body. For defying orders, Slade was discharged from the army.
Slade temporarily returned home to spend time with his wife, daughter, and two sons. Soon it became clear to Adeline that Slade felt unfilled at home, and that he no longer fit in with normal, everyday life. Something was missing for Slade. He decided to travel the world as a mercenary and assassin for hire, though he only told his family that he was a big-game safari hunter.
A few more years passed by. One night, when Slade was gone, mercenaries broke into his home and kidnapped his second son, Joseph. The mercenaries sent a message to Slade informing that if he did not share important information concerning one of his clients, then they would kill Joseph. Adeline urged Slade to share the information, but Slade believed that he could save Joseph. Tracking the mercenaries down to an abandoned warehouse, Slade proceeded to take them out. Unfortunately, however, Slade was too slow, and one of the mercenaries slit Joseph's throat open.
Joseph barely survived. In the hospital, an angry Adeline pulled a pistol on Slade and shot him for endangering their son. Slade survived, but his right eye did not. Adeline filed for a divorce shortly after.
Free to focus on his mercenary career, and possessing several superhuman abilities, Slade became known as one of the best mercenaries and assassins in the world. He adopted the identity of Deathstroke the Terminator, and acquired an expansive collection of weapons. Despite his success, Slade continued to pine after Adeline and their children, even though they continued to reject him.
Slade received his most difficult contract to date when he was hired to eliminate The Team. Despite his early defeats, Slade acknowledges that a contract is a contract, and is determined to complete it. After spending the last several months preparing for another confrontation with The Team, Slade feels hs is ready to finish them off and remove the small blemish from his record.
