MENTOR: Artemis has had quite a few mentors over the years, her parents (Huntress and the Sportsmaster) being her and her sister Jade's first serious teachers during both their childhoods -- even if it was just to use them for their father's personal gains and attempts at self-preservation. After that, she became the protegeé of Oliver Queen, none other than Green Arrow.
SCARS AND MARKINGS: Faded scars litter her entire body and her arms due to the various scuffles (a mixture of forced fights with her sister and her father, and some voluntary when she started working for The Team) she has had that occurred in her past. She also has her fair share of calluses on both her hands due to her archery training.
COLOR(S): Various shades of green, later with gray (As Artemis); Black and orange - Tigress
UNIFORM: As Artemis Crock has given up her first alter ego, she also chose to retire her first original costume: a midriff-baring uniform that highlighted her athletic build and stature. She wore a mask that wrapped around her forhead and cheekbones. Stylized in forest and other various shades of green, her garb has theme colors similar to that of her old aspiring role model and eventual mentor, Green Arrow. However, the years of working with Wally West and falling in love with her teammate brought on way too many painful memories of working together when she lost him to the invasion. When The Flash died, so did Artemis, the hero.
When time came for her to go undercover, Artemis took on the new persona of Tigress. While operating as Aqualad's lieutenant, she also wore a drastically different costume, and continues to do so to this day. Her new uniform is basically a body suit: much of her torso is black, with burnt orange taking up pretty much the rest of her body, with the the exception to some of the repeating black accents that mimic stripes along her shins and her black fingerless gloves, and her collar. As always, a hard mask covers her face to protect her anonymity. In keeping in theme with her new mantle and outfit, it has also been stylized in the shape of a tiger's face, with three black stripes as an added touch.
She always wears her black utility belt strapped to hips and thighs that stores all her gadgets and tools, as well as her sword. The weapon is kept in a black sheath carefully hidden away on her back, and is held fast in place by two black shoulder straps.
DESCRIPTION: Artemis is biracial, a child of a Vietnamese mother and a White American father. Because of this she takes after either parents in certain features more so than the other. She has the dark gray eyes and olive toned skin like Paula, her mom. She also has fair hair, a trait she takes after Lawrence, her father.
Her hair is long, thick, and blonde. For the longest time, she never wore her hair any different other than keeping it a high ponytail that reached well below her waist. However, since she took on Tigress as her new alias, she keeps her hair far shorter than what she originally had as a youth, and currently it never falls past her shoulder blades. In her civilian form, she keeps her locks pulled back sometimes to keep it from distracting her, but one will most often see her wearing it down.
Like any young hero, her body has always been her temple. Artemis stands at a higher than normal height than most girls her age, thanks to a small growth spurt that happened over the years. Though she is slender she is athletically fit, and she obsessively makes sure is always kept up to par with the rest of the team. She trains rigorously, honing her skills so that she doesn't find herself being rusty.

HISTORY: Artemis was the second born child of Lawrence and Paula Crock. That fact, however, is the only bit of normalcy to her and her sister's childhoods. The simple truth of the matter was that she and Jade were the offspring of Gotham's most dangerous criminals, the Huntress, a Vietnamese immigrant, and the Sportsmaster, an American. The couple were highly trained assasins who often freelanced for the League of Shadows from time to time. At the very prime in their careers, Artemis' parents began their plans of imparting their skills and lifestyle onto both their children.
But before that desire came into complete fruition, an accident happened. It was during their criminal escapades that Paula was injured, possibly during a fight or while she and her husband were running away from the authorities. Either way, because of the incident, Paula, then Huntress, was paralyzed from the waist. The injuries of the ordeal left her in no condition to flee with her partner, and so Huntress ended up taking the fall by the time police arrived on the scene. She was arrested and sentenced to prison.
Artemis' mother was absent for much of her childhood and had to be raised by her father for a total six years. The experience was not at all idyllic. Concerned with his pride and how his wife's situation was likely damaging his overall reputation to the rest of the world, he sought out his girls and began priming them to be assassins in the making. Where their mother was loving and protective, Lawrence was cruel and adamant on never showing the proper affection for growing kids. Often Artemis and her sister were put into inhumane tests and subjected to verbal and emotional abuse as a way to toughen them up. He'd even put the two against each other on more than one occasion, a fact that often strained their relationship for later.
Jade, her elder sister by four years, understandably could not take the abuse their father put them through, and so she ran away from home. Though she promised to come back for her, Jade never returned. Artemis often resented her older sister for leaving her with their father, but she never said anything, and instead put all her efforts into training and practicing archery.
Her mother was eventually released from prison, moving back into her daughter's life. Whether it was the experience in prison or the life-long injury, something changed in Paula Crock's mindset. During one of many arguments with her husband she had revealed that she no longer wanted the same life she took for her daughter, and that she had decided to be on the straight and narrow path. When her husband didn't agree she kicked him out.
Artemis heard the conversation and decided that she would never end up like her parents. Donning a costume that she made using similar colors of her idol, Green Arrow, she began her nightly and life of being a vigilante. Of course, this seemingly secret life of hers caught the attention of Green Arrow himself and Batman. When they confronted Paula about it she pleaded with the men to keep an eye on Artemis and make sure that she doesn't stray from "the path". It was during one patrol that Artemis found the Team in Gotham Academy, fighting the android Amazo. Without signaling her presence in front of the others, she helped pick off several of the monkey inspired robots created by Professor Ivo.
Green Arrow and Batman confronted her that night and offered her a position on the team, which she accepted. Over the next few days Artemis was introduced as Green Arrow's niece and new sidekick to The Team, even though this technically was not true. The new addition to the group was not received well by everyone else, and her agression, independence and secretive nature always had the habit of throwing them off. Red Arrow, one of Green Arrow's prodigies, who saw through his mentor's lie and did not like the fact that he was being replaced, was the most abrasive with her presence, which is why two argued a lot. Wally even thought she was a fake Speedy/Red Arrow.
