Throughout the galaxy mysterious black rings are descending on planets and resurrecting the dead into vicious undead killing machines.
The Black Lanterns
While the various Lantern Corps try to stave off the tide of undead that are washing over the galaxy they are unaware that the Black lanterns are not just mindless, in fact they have a destination in mind.
Sector 2814....Earth
While the Lantern Corps are distracted with the dozens of planets that are already embroiled in conflict against the Black Lanterns, they take no notice of a single black lantern ring that has managed to slip past their defenses and make its way toward Earth.
The Black Racer
The Black Lantern needed one thing, a conduit. a person that was connected to enough to the consciousness of Earth that it oulld then spread throughout the planet, and after searching it found that conduit. A fallen warrior that the world had watched sacrifice himself to protect Earth from the Reach and their machinations. So it flew out to the Antarctic and found this conduit as it proclaimed
Wallace West of Earth.....RISE
With that Wally West, the former Kid Flash was was resurrected as the first Black Lantern of Earth. He would not be the last however. In a sinister black blur he would race across the Earth every where he touched he would spread out Black lantern rings and the dead would rise. What would have taken weeks on a different planet, took a single night.

Desperate Times
Earth was now overrun with the vicious Black Lanterns, without intervention, the future of Earth looked bleak. However with dozens of other worlds at stake, The Guardians of Oa could not justify diverting any space-bound Green Lanterns to Earth.
With no other option The Guardians activated a fail safe in the Green Lantern rings that would allow a civilian to be deputized into the Corps for 72 hours and wield the power of the Lantern ring. They hoped this would give Earth a fighting chance an buy them some time.What no one realized is that because all Lantern Corps rings are based of Oan technology, they didn't just activate it for the Green Lantern Corps, but for every Lantern Corps as rings from the entire emotional spectrum began seeking out bearers on Earth.
Beat The Reaper
Fallen heroes , villains, and civilians alike are rising all over the world as Black Lanterns. Living heroes and villains alike are being drafted into Lantern Corps. With only 3 days to beat the Black Lanterns before their temporary powers fade old grudge are set aside as former foes are forced to work together in order to prevent the Black Lanterns from overtaking Earth.
Meanwhile the Black Lantern Flash seems to have returned to where he was initially resurrected and now seems to be gathering up a small legion of Black Lanterns and pulling...something out of the ocean.
Can the Black lanterns be beaten ?
or will The Blackest Night last forever?
