August 10th Harbor City
'Spotted: B and S. Chic and cheerful up on Boulevard Hausmann. They dallied at department stores and stayed awhile at Tally Weijl. Down on Rue Saint-Honoré they courted couture at Palais Royale. And found the perfect outfits to bash the competition. Then they headed to the Golden Triangle. Where Montaigne meets Georges V. And luxury goods are the opiate of choice. - ' The initial voice over for Gossip Girl played through the ear buds in her ear as M'gann watched the premiere of the fourth season on her small tablet; 'Belles De Jour'.
Seated quietly at a table out on the patio of her old favorite coffee shop luxuriating in the scent and taste of her caramel macchiato, M'gann patiently waited for her friend to arrive as she watched a little Gossip Girl. Nothing says indulgence more than watching a little GG with a warm delectable drink under the awning of a cafe with the cool autumn wind mildly blowing as one basked in the sunlight with some cool looking shades. M'gann was casually dressed in a thick warm sweater, bright blue knitted scarf she made herself, her vibrant red hair stood out, even if capped with a large rimmed hat. Her red hair was almost a beacon amongst the dark fabric capping her head and more importantly; should be easier for Kat to spot her.
It had been a while since she'd actually seen her friend though M'gann still tried to keep in touch with the girl as much as she could even while away in Chicago. Still it wasn't the same as seeing her live, hearing her voice, and being able to hug her . Her eyes glanced over at her cell phone checking the time even as Gossip Girl played on her tablet, even one of her fave TV shows could not hold down the excitement she had for seeing her old friend. It was still kind of weird coming back to the team and while her first instinct should have been to touch base with them first, it was funny the first thing M'gann thought to do was pay a little visit to Kat instead. So she had sent out a text to meet at a cafe in Harbor city before she officially headed back to the team.
M'gann told herself it was just to check in on Kat; see how she's been doing but really she would be lying if it also wasn't a bit to dodging the uncomfortable unknowns. Regardless, just the thought of the immanent reunion was enough to push down any of the 'heavy' as M'gann sensed the familiar. Instantly she looked up to scan the crowd of people walking by the outdoor patio.
~Ok M'gann do not freak her out by pouncing a hug on her...Do not~
Really that plan went out the window as soon as she sensed her friend approach, M'gann's face instantly lighting up as she stood up to greet Kat, practically squeed the other girl's name and quickly moved to hug the girl.
Sometimes one just couldn't escape their nature or a Martian hug.

The phone call she had received a few days ago had been unexpected but was a welcome surprise. Katt could not remember the last time she had seen M’gann face to face, the two would talk on the phone every now and then or Skype each other, text..but it wasn’t the same. After The Team had taken down Darkseid Katt had left and moved here to Harbor City and M’gann had left for Chicago so it made their standing friend dates harder to keep. Yes both girls were able to fly and there was always the Bioship but personal life gets in the way and made meeting up hard.
One thing was for sure thou, Katherine was excited to see her friend. M’gann had a way about her, her positive attitude was infectious and Katt had a hard time feeling down around the Martian. Her friendly and welcoming nature had been what had drawn Katt to her when she first joined the team and M’gann had been one of her closest friends since and in fact, next to Tula Katt would even go as far as say M’gann was a best friend.
When the day finally arrived for them to meet up Katt couldn’t help but have this smile on her face, others had noticed as well. Some of her coworkers at both the lab and her small job had asked what had gotten into her during the days leading up since she wasn’t one to outwardly smile that often. It was a good feeling and after the past few months she needed a change. Katt spent most of her day putzing around and kept finding herself glancing at the clock every few minutes to check the time, which didn’t make the hours tick down any faster. After doing that about fifty times she decided she need a distraction and set up her yoga mat in her living room and did her usual routine. When she had finished that it was closer to the time the girls were supposed to meet and figuring that was as good as she was going to get Katt decided to roll up her mat and start getting ready.
Putting the mat away and jumping in the shower Katherine spent the next hour getting ready. She dried her hair and let it go in its natural waves, put on a little makeup and got dressed. Seeing as how the sky looked a little dark today Katherine decided to put on a short sleeved purple shirt, a pair of black capri leggings, threw on some ankle boots and couple of layered necklaces. By the time she was dressed and ready it was time for her to start walking to meet M’gann and Katt set off, grabbing her favorite cropped leather jacket on her way out.
Checking her phone again she double checked their meeting location and set off in its direction once she left her apartment building, taking out her earbuds and sticking them in her ears so she could have a little music as she walked. It took about a good fifteen minutes for her to reach the coffee shop but as she started approaching Katt could see the firey red hair of her friend. It looked like she had decided to go back to the long hair (she envied M’ganns shapeshifting ability a little. If she ever got bored with one style she could easily change it and that sounded nifty) As she approached the young clone removed the buds from her ears and waved when she heard a ‘Kat!’
M’gann! Katherine quickened her step a little and hugged her friend once she was close enough. It was good to see her.

"M’gann!" Katherine had said and hearing her voice never felt so good. It kinda felt like home or a piece of it. It wasn't the same thing as texts and emails; hearing the tone and pitch with all its nuances accompanied by facial expression and the feelings that transcend. It was just different, better than on the phone. It felt good, like it used to be; a piece of home all wrapped up in flesh and bone. Kat had quickened her step a little just as M'gann had, caught up in the raw emotion of it her eyes actually welled up a little but they were happy tears as her friend took her into her arms and the two hugged. M'gann breathed in deep before releasing her friend and brushing away the tears.
"Not quite the way I was planning it." M'gann chuckled self-consciously as she looked at her friend. "I was going for less Caroline and more Hayley from Vampire diaries cause the werewolves just always seemed to have it more together but out came the waterworks anyways. Guess I am more Caroline than I thought." M'gann rambled, once again referencing random characters from tv shows she'd been watching.
"It *is* really good to see you though. You look great." the young Martian smiled as she motioned to the table she was at. "I was actually just catching up on some Gossip Girl while I waited for you and didn't really order much other than a caramel macchiato to drink. I figured we would get some real food and talk, then maybe hang out if you aren't too busy today."
M'gann linked her arm with Kat's and lead her to their table. She had moved to meet Kat half way only because she was too excited to wait at the table for the girl to get to her. "You need so spill and give me all the exciting deets in your life...and yes I am using Human colloquialisms now and 'deets' was this thing that all the girls in the squad said along with OMG, LOL and YOLO. Really it was quite the experience in Chicago. The squad there is, not like the Bumble Bees were here. I still miss the Bees though."
M'gann pulled a chair out for Kat to sit and then motioned for the waitress to come by their table so that they could order. "So, how have you been?" M'gann asked starting their conversation up with a rather unoriginal question. "Tell me what's new." When the girls finally met in the middle Katt hugger M’gann back and listened to her give her explanation on how she had not planned on being so emotional by using some pop culture reference and Katt laughed. ”It happens to the best of us” she really had no idea what M’gann was talking about as Katt didn’t watch much TV but she knew her friend was a TV junkie..Katt did have a few guilty pleasure shows but nowhere near the amount M’gann had. ”it’s good to see you too!” the clone answered back excitedly, this was almost out of character for her and it had been anyone else it would have been but with M’gann this side of Katherine came out naturally.
As M’gann explained how she had only ordered a drink so far and suggested lunch the other woman nodded ’Yes, I am starving and I made sure I would have my day clear so we can do whatever you’d like.” They had so much to catch up on and Katt didn’t want to rush it. The girls linked arms and started walking toward their table while the red head rattled off that she wanted to know all that had been going on in her friends life and Katt had to stifle a laugh as how fast she was talking, it was always easy to tell when M’gann was excited.
When both girls were seated and M’gann had started in on the questioning Katt smiled and took a deep breath so she could answer. ”Ive been good, Harbor City has been good to me and I’ve found a nice little life here..and a nice nightlife. Katt figured M’gann would be able to pick up on the hero reference ”I intern at a marine lab and I am nearly finished with earning my degree…so so far things have been great! What about you? How’s Chicago?

'Yes, I am starving and I made sure I would have my day clear so we can do whatever you’d like.”
...whatever you'd like
Three words that brought the eternal smile of hers to brighten and broaden even more. There were like a million and one things she wanted to do with her best friend, go surfing, cliff diving, go shopping, watch girly movies followed by horrible 'B' rated horror films like Night Of The Living Dead which M'gann discovered while in Chicago. Kyle was one of those 'Noir' guys at the school; dark and mysterious on the outside totally nerdy film geek cute on the inside. He was the twin of one of the girls on her cheer squad and when they met they hit it off. Mostly cause M'gann could quote practically all the more recent movies and tv shows like Supernatural and Pretty Little Liars. Yes at first he made fun of her for some of her choices however they also had some common ground on old films like Breakfast at Tiffany's and old classics like that. Next thing M'gann knew she was being exposed to really bad horror movies, dark noir films, and OMG Sherlock and Dr. Who! She needed to expose Kat to those nuggets of pure awesome TV, that and Kat needed to be taken down the emotional rollercoaster ride that was Pretty Little Liars. Then there was shopping that they needed to do, dancing, talking about hot actors and sipping milkshakes and yeah there were a million things she wanted to do with her friend, however she probably should reign her thoughts in and maybe just start with one or two things. Otherwise Kat just might feel a tad smothered.
~All in good time.~ M'gann mused when she linked arms with her friend and then lead her to the table as she started in on the questions of how Kat's been. She didn't mean to bombard with the questions but M'gann was genuinely interested in her friend's well being. She smiled broadly when Kat laughed at her, it was good to hear the girl laugh. She had such a pretty one M'gann always thought Kat should do it more.
Katt smiled and took a deep breath as she answered M'gann's questions. ”Ive been good, Harbor City has been good to me and I’ve found a nice little life here..and a nice nightlife."
M'gann smiled knowingly at Kat's reference of a nightlife. Any other person other than Kat or the Team and 'nice nightlife' would mean awesome clubs, great music and hot boys, but to M'gann, Kat and the rest of the Team a 'nice nightlife' meant a relatively busy hero life at night. "You don't say." M'gann arched a brow as she sipped on her drink, looking over her mug at Kat her eyes smiling knowingly at her friend.
”I intern at a marine lab and I am nearly finished with earning my degree…so so far things have been great! What about you? How’s Chicago?"
"Wow nearly done your degree? That is awesome! And working at a marine lab sounds cool. I'm glad things seem to be working out for you." M'gann said then Kat asked about her and Chicago. Somehow M'gann's life seemed much more mundane and less interesting in Chicago, compared to her crime fighting friend. With M'gann's developing Martian physiology her uncle tried to keep her away from crime fighting until she had control of her new found abilities and then came the test of control while trying to have a normal life as a teenage girl finishing her senior year in high school.
"Compared to your life, not quite as exciting or impressive." M'gann smiled. "Chicago was great though, I made some friends. Had this friend Kyle, showed me the joys of B rated horror films, you really need to watch Army of Darkness and Night of the Living dead." M'gann chuckled a little. "Oh and I learned to play the guitar thanks to Kyle. Kinda just the basics plus power chords so I can fake it enough with Nirvana songs to look like I know what I'm doing." she giggled. "It's kinda random I know."
"I also made the cheerleading squad there too and my team qualified for Nationals. We came in third but it was a lot of fun. Uncle Jon didn't really allow me out enough at night to experience the 'night life' but I graduated with good enough marks to get into Metropolis U. I start this fall and I'm going to try out for the squad there too. I think I'd look good enough in blue, silver and white right?" M'gann joked. She really couldn't help it. She loved cheerleading. "Try outs are in two weeks so I probably should work on my tumbling and have a stellar routine ready to go. Oh and I've got a place in Metropolis. Uncle Jon has it set up for me, it's near the university."
Then picking up a menu M'gann handed one to Kat. "Order what you want, it's on me" the Martian smiled. "I still have some extra cash I earned from working part-time at a movie theatre in Chicago. I'm feeling like having a greesey burger, a pile of fries and a thick vanilla milkshake oooo or maybe an icecream float." M'gann said as she eyed the menu.
"So, have you talked or heard from anyone else on the Team?" M'gann asked peering over the menu. "How've they been? I tried to keep in touch with everyone but I got the feeling some people just didn't want to be kept in touch with." there was a hint of sadness there like the Martian girl couldn't understand why some on the team would be that way, then again she was the uber social one so antisocial behavior in any level she just didn't get and that included people not keeping in touch. "I kinda just got back and well you're literally the first person I came to see. I haven't really made it to the cave yet. "

When M’gann said that her life was more exciting than hers Katherine laughed a little ’Oh please, all I do is work and work and work not much time for anything else.” If she wasn’t doing school work then she was at the lab, if she wasn’t at the lab then she was at her part time job, if she wasn’t at her part time job then she was out in the city. There was little to no down time in Katherine Spencer’s life and as M’gann started to explain about her life in Chicago Katt couldn’t help but feel a little wistful. Not that she ever wanted to experience High School again, no thank you. She had entered Happy Harbor High as a Junior and those two years were enough for her but everything else. M’ganns life sounded busy but in the good way.
Then she mentioned Kyle and Katt was instantly interested in knowing more about this guy. So, Kyle huh? She gave her friend the expectant ‘are you?...’ look and waited. It was good that M’gann was seeing people again, after Conner and L’gann it was probably good to get someone stable…someone that wouldn’t be captured or something by the enemy or that didn’t have ten tons of emotional baggage he carried around with him. ”You could totally rock the silver, white and blue!” M’gann was a little ball of energy and she was perfect cheerleader material, it was part of the reason they got along so well she thought. M’gann was this cheerful talker and Katt was this depressive listener so it balanced out. They would be crazy not to accept you.
Katherine took the menu as it was handed to her she set it down on the table and learned forward a little so she could see and started to look over the options. Not very many vegetarian options but there were a few, there was even a veggie burger that sounded good and if M’gann wanted to go the burger route Katt night have to join her in that. When she told her that it was on her Katt just looked up and across at M’gann. That was not going to happen but they could fight about that later.
”it’s a good thing you’re a shapeshifter” Katt teased with a small smirk. She was only kidding but the way M’gann was talking it was like she hadn’t eaten in weeks!
And then came the question she had been hoping to avoid.
”I’ve seen a few people. Zatanna, talked with Artemis once or twice.. Katt paid close attention to her menu now, it suddenly becoming much more interesting at the words she was about to say. May have ran into Kaldur’ahm a couple days ago…. Katherine turned the page of her menu and continued her browsing, hoping to avoid that topic all together. Maybe they could focus on the others, the fact that M’gann said she hadn’t even been to the cave yet, maybe they could talk about that? Right? Right? Please? Why was she even worrying about this, it wasn’t like others knew they just knew the two of them had a falling out and that was all....

"So, Kyle huh?" Kat gave M'gann the ‘are you?...’ look.
"What?" M'gann chuckled a little uncomfortably and shook her head. "No, we were just friends." she smiled, though the sentiment didn't quite touch her eyes. "Truthfully I'm not sure I can handle dating again. My track record shows I'm not the best at these things. All I do is hurt people...I couldn't risk doing to him what I did to Connor and L'gann. I caused them a lot of pain, I don't want to do that again."
M'gann's arms momentarily wrapped themselves around herself as if chilled but that wasn't why. Breakups were hard enough as they were, but as a telepath it was even harder. M'gann felt everything both her pain and theirs and for a person like M'gann who didn't like to see people hurting especially because of anything she'd done, it tore her apart each time. For Connor it was the pain of betrayal that forced him to end things and with L'gann it was the pain of a love ultimately unrequited. It wasn't just that she didn't think she would want to experience it again but that she didn't want to put a person through what she put the other two through.
"It's not fair to do that to people." M'gann replied then realized she'd suddenly dampened the mood so immediately she perked up "So I decided to take a page out of Serena Vanderwoodsen's playbook from Gossip Girl, after all there are benefits to not being in a relationship you know...I can hangout with a bunch of cute boys not just one." she chuckled trying to make light of the fact that she was a bit gun shy now when it came to entering relationships.
M'gann quickly switched topics to Cheerleading and wanting to try out for the Metropolis University's squad joking about looking good in the Bulldog's colours.
”You could totally rock the silver, white and blue!”
"I know right! " M'gann replied genuinely excited.
Then talk switched to food and M'gann admitted to her tall order of sustenance then laughed at Kat's joke.
”it’s a good thing you’re a shapeshifter” Katt teased with a small smirk.
"Not going to lie, it definitely has its benefits." M'gann chuckled.
Then M'gann asked about the others and well she got the feeling Kat was a bit uncomfortable which made M'gann a little curious as to the root of that emotion.
”I’ve seen a few people. Zatanna, talked with Artemis once or twice.." Katt had started and M'gann noticed that the other girl was paying particularly close attention to her menu now; more than standard. It was as if the menu suddenly became much more interesting which M'gann didn't buy because she had the same menu and yeah it wasn't *that* riveting.
"...May have ran into Kaldur’ahm a couple days ago…."
"You did? That's great!...It's great right? M'gann noticed how Kat was burying herself deeper in the menu and she had a sinking feeling there was maybe a bit more to it.
"How did it go?" M'gann inquired. She knew that Kat and Khaldur had a falling out and she hoped that in running into Khaldur the two would have a chance to work things out.

Of course she would want to know more. Katherine sighed heavily and closed her menu, she already knew what she was going to eat and there was no point in hiding behind it now. 'Great is a matter of opinion" that night had really been anything but. "He was in town following a lead and we bumped into each other..literately. It was awkward she reached over and picked up her glass of water and took a drink. 'awkward is a understatement, It was horrible" Katt set her glass back down once she had taken her drink. "The only thing we were able to talk about without it seeming like pulling teeth was his lead and even the mission we did after it was silence unless it was mission talk. I think it's safe to say that that boat has sank."
Katherine opened her menu again, she needed something to do to keep her mind busy just in case M'gann tried to take a peek inside to get more info. "But...So, living the single life huh? That's good." Try to change topics back to someone else, that was always a smooth transition wasnt it? Ugh. Why did he always have to make things difficult even when he wasn't here?

It was one of those awkward moments, that foot in the mouth moment one can sometimes have; like saying the wrong thing at the wrong time or dampening a mood. It was like that kind of vibe at the moment M'gann was feeling and her felt for Kat as she offered her friend a bit of an awkward smile. She hated making people feel uncomfortable and hated to be the downer and yet she did both. 'D'oh' was the Homer Sipmson understatement of the moment.
M'gann watched as Katherine sighed heavily and closed her menu, no longer hiding behind it now. 'Great is a matter of opinion" that night had really been anything but.
"Oh. Not so good then..." M'gann said softly with an apologetic smile.
"He was in town following a lead and we bumped into each other..literately. It was awkward." she reached over and picked up her glass of water and took a drink.
"Yeah I know how that can be with Khal." M'gann offered consolingly. Things haven't exactly been the same between Khaldur and M'gann since the 'incident' either and awkward was the understatment of the century. Sure he was cordial, and professional when talking to her but it was only in the briefest of ways with the most effective way to say something with the least amount of words and then when the mission brief was over so was the communication. Or the odd time they ran into one another it was quick and over like a forced politeness. Yeah M'gann hated awkward. She looked back up at Kat though when her friend started talking again, filling her in on her run in with Khaldur.
'awkward is a understatement, It was horrible" Katt set her glass back down once she had taken her drink. "The only thing we were able to talk about without it seeming like pulling teeth was his lead and even the mission we did after it was silence unless it was mission talk. I think it's safe to say that that boat has sank."
"What? No it hasn't sunk...It's just a little shaky...Khaldur is just being...well Khaldur. He's had...a lot to deal with. You need to be patient with him. Just give him time, he'll come around." M'gann offered and part of her wondered if that was her trying to convince Kat or herself of this.
It wasn't a lie though, Khaldur did have a lot to deal with from Tula's death, to coming to terms with what he did while in deep cover with Black Manta, to having his mind messed with and not to mention leading the team and all the responsibilities and hardship that all comes with. Really M'gann admired the boy for his ability to hide and hold it together. She knew and felt what he was going through at least from a superficial thought angle went, she never dared delving deeper, not unless he asked her to though M'gann was sure he never would allow her in his mind again. Might be why they rarely went on missions together; she didn't need to be in his head then.
M'gann did her best to offer her friend a reassuring smile though as she reached out and touched the young girl's hand. "Kat, you know I'm always here for you though right? I mean I know I left for a bit but you know that if you ever need me, to talk, for anything, you know I'm here for you. Always." and she meant it.
Katherine opened her menu again, she needed something to do to keep her mind busy just in case M'gann tried to take a peek inside to get more info. "...So, living the single life huh? That's good."
"Smooth Kat." M'gann chuckled "Nice deflection really if I wasn't a telepath I never would have guessed you were dodging." she joked.
Really she didn't need her powers to see that Kat was dodging the Khaldur thing by changing the topic to M'gann.
"But yeah, livin' the single life is ... less complicated." she smiled." Fun because I don't have to worry about disappointing them or hurting them or well anything 'them'. It's just me, what I need and what I want. I don't know, right now I kind of like not having to answer to anyone or living up to their ideals. It probably makes me sound really selfish huh?"
"You girls ready to order?" a voice came from behind M'gann as their waitress came over to take their order.
Without even missing a beat M'gann started to order. While some people might have been jumpy or surprised by the woman coming up from behind her, M'gann sensed the woman coming already and so it wasn't a surprise to her. Instead M'gann just took it in stride and ordered. "Oh I'll have the Double Angus burger, Large poutine extra cheese, with a side of spicy onion rings and a large Vanilla Milkshake please." She ordered folding the menu contentedly and handing it to a gaping mouthed waitress.
"You girls splitting that?" the waitress asked taking the menu after having written it all down.
"Oh no, that was just my order....My friend still has to make her order." M'gann smiled though her eyes were laughing with amusement as she caught the superficial thoughts of the waitress.
::She think's I'm going to go throw it all up after eating it all...As if!:: M'gann's mind voice chuckled in Kat's head as she opened a channel of telepathic communication between them. ::Why would I do that? It totally would not taste as good coming back up...Humans are so random sometimes.::

Katt appreciated what M’gann was trying to do but she was sure that boat had gone the way of the Titanic. There was no fixing that friendship and that was partly her fault she knew, her unwillingness to forgive would make taking strides in the right direction hard but it wasn’t like he was trying either and if he was not willing then why should she be? ”Trust me, it’s sunk.”
She knew that M’gann would be there if she needed but Katt really didn’t want to dive to deep into that area, it was better where it was, things were better left unsaid and eventually the feelings would pass. At least, that was what everyone had always said in similar situations. ”I know M’gann” she said with a small smile ”but it’s fine, really. “
"Nice deflection really if I wasn't a telepath I never would have guessed you were dodging."
Katherine laughed a little ”I don’t know what you’re talking about” she deflected again, playing dumb seemed like the better option right now ”Not selfish, sometimes you need to answer to no one, only worry about yourself and what you want. It’s normal. “ She wanted to say more but the waiter came up to the table asking if they were ready. Katt waited for her friend to order, trying not to smirk at the waiters question and when it finally came to her turn she thought about making a big order like the red head across from her but knew she would never be able to eat it all. ”I’ll take the veggie burger with everything and a chocolate shake.”
::Wait till they see when you order dessert:: the image in her mind of M’gann ordering double dessert after with no problem and the look on the waiters face was almost too good and Katt had to keep herself from laughing out loud and risk sounding like a lunatic that was laughing at nothing.

From the tone in Kat's voice it just seemed so final. But call her the eternal optimist M'gann just couldn't see it as being that; not without a fight at least. They shouldn't let it die.
”Trust me, it’s sunk.”
"You sound like you're just giving up." M'gann said. "Ok I know he can be as stubborn as a barnacle to get off the bottom of a ship..." the young Martian beamed. "Did you like that reference? Fits huh?" she wasn't going to lie she was totally proud of that marine reference. Of course she wasn't going to mention said reference was from a Sponge Bob episode.
"It's only sunk if the both of you decide it's just not worth fighting for anymore and well it is still worth fighting for isn't it? I mean *you're* not throwing in the towel just yet are you?"
Then M'gann offered her support for Kat as much as she wanted to see those two mend things, M'gann couldn't force them to, or well she could but that wasn't right and they would both hate her for it so yeah for all intents and purposes she couldn't. All she could do was try to convince them not to give up on one another which she got the feeling they already kinda did. So M'gann simply offered her support and let Kat know she'd be there for her no matter what.
”I know M’gann” she said with a small smile ”but it’s fine, really. “
"If you say so." M'gann replied.
Then jokes went to deflections and discussions of M'gann's decision not to bother to delve in the realm of dating again and just enjoying things on her own doing the things she wants to without answering to anyone. It was a relief to hear Kat reaffirm that it wasn't selfishness.
Then the waitress appeared and M'gann and Kat made their orders. The young Martian chuckling at the waitress' thoughts on M'gann's large order.
::Wait till they see when you order dessert:: came Kat's mental thoughts and M'gann couldn't help but chuckle probably looking crazy for seeming to laugh at nothing said.
::Yeah probably should pace myself when I ask for seconds on that banana split.::
"So after lunch what did you want to do?" M'gann asked switching back to the more conventional way of communicating.

The Martians optimism was unrelenting and Katt was almost starting to agree with her. Maybe things weren't as bad, maybe they could still be fixed but that meant she had to be willing to fix them and forgive things and Katt didn't know if she was ready. That would be something she would have to think over and Katt had a feeling that if she tried to voice that opinion to M'gann that the other girl would have her ready to march to the cave to apologize after some good pep talk and frankly, Katt didn't want that. No, it was best to keep quiet on that situation for now. Which, was why she choose to ignore the question about throwing in the towel.
Now that their orders were in and the waiter had successfully thought they were at least a little bit insane the two were left alone once more and Katt heard M'gann's question about what she wanted to do. "Well, what do you want to do?" Since M'gann was visiting it really should be up to her on what they did next at least, it was just easier that way since Katt had never been one of the more sociable people on the team. Her idea of a good time usually meant staying by herself or going swimming and something told her that that was not going to be a option for the two of them.

"Well, what do you want to do?" Came Kat's question right back at her and for the hyper excitable Martian that was a loaded question.
Anything!...Everything!! Really it was all just about hanging out with Kat and being around her again. She missed her friend, she missed everyone on the team. She missed the fun times the ridiculous times and even the times where she just wouldn't rather. Distance did funny things to a person. It made you appreciate people more, appreciate their company, their presence and the general light that they brought to your day. It was like that with Kat. Really Kat could have said something like, go to the library and M'gann would have just been as content to be there as she would have a rock concert...oooh a rock concert. Wait no, it was doubtful there were any concerts playing today and even still probably too late to get tickets unless they were scalped in which case the prices would be crazy expensive. No, none of the bands M'gann could think of were even on tour so concerts were out, though a live band maybe ... yeah. But it was a bit early for a live band show. Maybe later for the live band. For now though she was left with the dilemma of what to do after their gluttonous feast.
"We should maybe do something to work off these ridiculous pounds we are about to consume." M'gann chuckled. "Is there like an amusement park or something around? Either that or we patrol, like old times only with slightly fatter bellies as we finish this meal." M'gann laughed.
"Or if more low key was up your alley i wouldn't mind checking out the lab you work at. You can show me around, tell me all about your research and stuff. Honestly Kat at the risk of sounding all 'Single White Female' on you, I just really wanna spend time with you. So anything is good with me, though I was opting out of the clinche'd going to the mall and shopping thing but you know, I can't say no to that either."
"Yeah and you thought you were indecisive." M'gann chuckled.

Katt should have known asking M'gann what she wanted to do would be a bad idea. The martian listed off a number of things and some of them sounded fun while others..not so much but, Katt would do them if that was what M'gann wanted. Patrol could be fun, it had been a while since she had done anything like that with someone else, Kaldur'ahm excluded since it wasn't really a patrol. Katherine didn't think M'gann had seen her since she had been Aquagirl so it would be nice to show her her new identity...but, that wouldn't happen till later if it happened at all so they still had a lot of time to kill before that could happen.
M'gann mentioned about wanting to see the lab she interned at and Katherine supposed she could show her that if she really wanted, there wasn't really anything that exciting going on but maybe the two girls could take a dive in the water so Katt could show her what she was working on in the field. There was that idea and then there was the save all trip to the mall. That sounded easier and could keep them entertained longer. "We can go to the mall, I haven't been there in a while...If thats ok? Maybe go see a movie?" Katt thought she had opened Pandora's box by suggesting that given how much of a pop culture junkie M'gann was but surely there had to be something out that the other girl would want to see. Hoepfully it just wasn't something overly mushy and romantic because Katt did not need that right now.

"We can go to the mall, I haven't been there in a while...If thats ok? Maybe go see a movie?"
"Yeah the mall sounds great! We could try on some cool outfits and then complain about how we don't fit in them and blame the food here." she chuckled. "And a movie sounds perfect after a romp through the mall. There are so many great movies out now. I guess it would depend on what kind of movie you feel like seeing. There are action style ones like Mission Impossible 11, or the remake of the Matrix. Mind you I'm not sure it's going to be as good as the original; No one does Neo like Keanu, or touch Trinity in her awesomeness that is Carrie-Anne Moss..."
"Oooo or Truly Madly Deeply!" M'gann said getting super excited and then realized that going to see a girly romantic flick was probably not the best genres for both girls. "... or not cause like boys suck..." she looked over at Katt with a small smile as she munched on her French fry.
"...Well there's Battle Royale! It's like a remake of the Japanese movie of the same title that was amazeballs back in 2000. The Japanese government sends a class of ninth-grade students out to an island and forces them to kill each other under some revolutionary Battle Royale Act. It's like Hunger Games with less the fluff and backstory with more the gore and explosions and body parts getting hacked and entrails showing and also we are eating...sorry for the gore talk. And come to think of it, Battle Royale might not be so great after having eaten." she said while finishing up her meal.
"Really we could decide on a movie later when we get there I suppose." M'gann smiled then took a sip of her milkshake. There was something else on M'gann's mind she'd wanted to ask but wasn't certain she should. Then again this was Katt she was talking to and who M'gann considered her closest friend. Problem was she was also close to the subject she'd been wanting to breech for a bit now and has been on her mind since M'gann returned.
"So...uhm, have you heard from Connor lately?" There she did it. Asked it...bah! She sucked.
"Just wondered how he's been doing in a NOT clingy ex-girlfriend wanting to get back together kind of way." M'gann felt the need to qualify that as it just seemed that people would get the wrong impression of M'gann asking. Why couldn't she just be concerned about him for the sake of being concerned and it not be about getting back together? And really why was he being so difficult not even keeping in contact with people? Or maybe it was just her he was avoiding because oh yeah like everyone else he probably thinks she wants to get back together...geeze!
"I just want to make sure he's alright and well since he won't talk to me, I thought maybe he's checked in with you?"
