TRAITS: Although emotions such as kindness and cheer were rare on Tamaran, and it admittedly took Koriand'r some time to adjust upon arriving on Earth, she has embraced both joy and love in her short time here. She loves spreading her happiness with those around her and often finds herself excited about new things, eager to learn more of this world so foreign to her. Above all else, she values friendship and yearns to spend as much time as possible learning about the people here.
Although at times quite sensitive, it is rare when anything angers Starfire. Sure, a prank gone wrong, or complete rejection might send her for a loop, but, for the most part, she is a genuinely elated person who finds herself loving every aspect of life, even the crime fighting part. Villains anger her, but that, in turn, only makes her stronger and more determined to fight them.
Both cheerful, sensitive, and strong, Starfire cares deeply about others and is fascinated by the ways of humans. She hopes to enjoy Earth more the longer she is here.

HISTORY: Koriand'r was born the second heir to the Tamaranean throne, following her older sister, Komand'r, also known as Blackfire. Growing up, Koriand'r was a happy child, although there were times when she would feel insignificant in comparison to her sister, who was good at everything and shone with the confidence of a true leader. Koriand'r was forced to to interact with only those from the palace, leaving her close with only one person: Her knorfka (guardian), Galfore, who had cared for her since she was a child.
Tamaran had been a fairly peaceful planet throughout her entire life, but that changed when the Gordanians attacked, craving power over the people of Tamaran. They wanted servants who would fear them; slaves, who would do whatever they asked; and, above all, they wanted control.
Koriand'r, taking the advice of her older sister, decided to give herself up to the Gordanians and allow them to take her into captivity, in turn saving the entire planet from immediate destruction. Once on their ship, she came to the realization that things wouldn't be as simple as she'd once thought, for she was kept locked up and constantly tortured and probed, as the Gordanians tried to learn more about the alien powerhouse. Fearing the life waiting for her at the Citadel would be worse than even this torturous captivity, she decided to break free.
Escaping the Gordanians' ship and heading toward the nearest planet, Earth, she took refuge there, learning English after making lip contact with a boy who set her free of her handcuffs. She fled the city and did everything in her power not to be found by the Gordanians, who were constantly searching for her then. She was aware they were after her, but the fact she was constantly moving around made it hard for them to locate her and she believes they have now stopped searching.
Although she is not quite accustomed to the ways of Earth, she has come to love it here, learning that people can be nice, even in spite of who you are or where you're from. She has made few friends, but, after spotting several heroes saving lives, she has decided that she, too, wants to fight crime and help those in need. In order to keep the people of Earth from suffering the fate she almost had to, she has made it her goal to protect them, using her powers for good and not evil.

RP SAMPLE: The sun was high in the sky, illuminating the shadows of the city and bringing light to the true beauty held there. People filled the crowded street, passing by in both directions - some chatting away on their cell phones, others munching on food from nearby stands, many of them either laughing with friends or lost in their own thoughts.
Koriand'r smiled to herself as she watched them, so full of life and excitement, anger and love. They never questioned these things - the ways they behaved, why they smiled - but she found it beautiful. She found them beautiful.
Sure, since coming to Earth, she had traveled all over the place, never seeing the same faces for too long, but even as she rested her green eyed gaze upon these total strangers, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. It was official: She loved everything about the city.
Perhaps the only person she'd truly gotten to know in the short, three days she'd been here was Mrs. Brown, a kind, middle aged woman who ran the kindergarten up the street. Starfire had rescued one of the children, who had attempted to run away, only two days earlier, resulting in an invitation from Mrs. Brown to join them for story time. Starfire had read to everyone for half an hour before bidding them farewell. All of the children had loved her and found her Tamaranean ways hilarious. Mrs. Brown had thanked her for everything and invited her to come back soon.
The idea of going back there was thrilling, but it bothered her to imagine having to leave them soon. She had only been in town for three days, but, inevitably, she would leave again and find home elsewhere. They would never understand. After all, they were only children. What good would it do them to enter their lives only to leave?
However, she found herself drawn to the kindergarten on this sunny day, when all was bright and beautiful in the world. She couldn't help but miss the children already and she knew their smiling faces would only make this day even nicer. Besides, reading one or two more stories wouldn't hurt.
She approached the kindergarten in time to find Mrs. Brown herding the children outside, each of them giggling as they raced out the door to play. "Oh, Starfire." The older woman smiled as she waved the girl over. "Welcome back."
Starfire grinned, opening her mouth to respond, only to be cut off by an excited six year old, racing over to greet her. "Ms. Star!" he exclaimed, hugging her legs. "Guess what!"
She knelt down to be eye level with him. "What is it, little boy?"
"Mommy bought me this shirt!" He held his shoulders back with pride, showing off his blue shirt, with a red 'S' in the center. "Now I look like Superman!"
She gasped to show her surprise. "That garment is most impressive! Does the Superman know of this?"
The boy shook his head. "Nope." He smoothed out the wrinkles on the shirt, as though it were his most prized possession. "I wanna be just like him when I grow up!"
"What is he like?"
"He's big! And strong!" The child's eyes lit up with excitement. "And he can fly! He saves lives, Ms. Star, and he cares about people! Isn't that cool? I wanna be a hero just like him someday!"
She nodded, offering him a kind smile, but she didn't respond this time, for she was too busy thinking, I wish to be a hero like him, too.
