10:23am Chicago, Illinois October 15th 2017
Last night was a bit of a blur. At least it was for now, fragmented with the events that had transpired. Of course, Safira had ended up leaving Crosshairs with Delilah for company that night - details of which are best left unsaid, to remain a memory to look back on at a later time. But one thing that should of happened last night, didn’t happen. Rose and Safira had not exchanged phone numbers, nor plotted a time or place to meet the day after. It’s always the finer details that first go by the wayside.
That’s why Safira took a gamble. At this moment in time, the League of Shadows Assassin could be found nearby Crosshairs. Not in that dark, murky alleyway, but instead at a diner located nearby. It was the Morning, and naturally it was packed out a fair bit with those doing construction work in the area. Safira was sat at one table, near to the window. It wasn’t her first preference; a more preferable place to sit would be a table away from direct sunlight. But she was hardly in the mood to complain. Safira sat, leaning forward with her head down, buried in her arms. It was as a result of the drinking from the night before, a slight migraine that could have been far worse.
On the table in front of her was a plate, stacked with two slices of toast. Though neither slice appeared to be as warm as those ordering recently, and the butter spread on them had melted. There was also half a cup full of black coffee, but again lacked any indication to show its warmth. On the back of the chair that Safira was sat upon, hung a black leather jacket. The logo that signified Bane’s gang was apparent on the back, leaving no doubt about this being Delilah’s jacket. Safira remained there with her head in her hands, trying to ignore the sound of those that occupied the place. It was a loud, boisterous atmosphere coupled with the sound of people eating, and dishes etc clanging. This was hell for Saffy right now.

The alarm woke her at five am. With a yawn she made her way to the small shower that was used to clean off between missions. Leaning against the wall she let the hot water run over her while she pondered her morning routine. Kinda glad that she hadn't told Saffy where the safe house was as that meant she didn't need to get dressed right away and the only other person with access was her dad and he was no where near Chi town.
So press ups, sit ups and a whole assortment of exercises followed before she decided to get dressed properly and head out into the world for a run. It was still really early, work traffic had just begun to show up as the platinum blonde made her way full sprint through the alleys and streets. Rose had 30 miles to cover before breakfast, anything less was a failure on her part and as she often reminded herself, Rose was not a failure in any way.
The music was thumping in her ears as she ran, but her thoughts were on what her team mate might have been up to. There was little doubt that Delilah would have taken her home and well Rose could figure the rest out. What would Saffy do come morning though, she didn't seem the spooning and breakfast in bed type. Which meant that she would have to find her own food or head back to the League. Probably not back to the League, least not until she had had a shower and sorted herself out. Which meant food some place else.
It was now after eight and Rose herself was hungry. Tactically if Tay had wanted to find Rose again and sort out all of the above then a place near Crosshairs was the only real solution. Adjusting her run to take her past the building, now all locked up, and into the street. It took her a moment to see the girl she was looking for in the window of a cafe. With a thump on the window Rose moved inside with a grin, the jacket only made her tut softly with a shake of the head "Hey Tay, How is your Day!" Rose said a little louder than needed.
Slipping into the seat beside her Rose took a look at the menu and rolled her shoulders. Deciding what to eat was always a chore. Healthy or not healthy both came with consequences but eh she could worry about that later. Reaching out to grab the waitress as she walked past Rose put in her order of pancakes, bacon and maple syrup and a white coffee. "You look wasted. Do I wanna know what you two got up too?" Rose smirked once the waitress left "Is the jacket a trophy or a memento?"

“Hey Tay, How is your day!”
Safira would respond to Rose with a simple short lived groan. It was telling of how the League assassin currently felt, as she remained with her head buried in her crossed arms, head down on the table. Why does everyone have to make so much noise?”. Safira mumbled. On second thought, it was rather unwise to wait in such a busy café that appeared to be something of a local hotspot.
Then before long, came the questioning. It wasn’t even half ten, and Safira found herself already having to come up with answers. She looked up slightly, towards Rose. ”Something like that”. Safira would say as she blew the air in front of her suddenly, blowing a few strands of hair away from obstructing her eyesight. From there, the assassin sat up straight and ran both her hands firmly back through her brunette hair, throwing it back over her shoulders. ”It was a little cold this morning, leaving Delilah’s apartment”. The combo of a tank top and shorts didn’t exactly do much to resist the chill found in Chicago’s air.
”How was your night, anyway?. It seemed pretty obvious how her night with Delilah went down. How Rose’s night went was a little less easy to guess, riddled with mystery. Safira was always a sucker for a good story. ”Sorry about leaving you on your own like that”. She added, with a sigh following shortly after. It was never her intention to ditch Rose like that, but… well… yeah. ”I’ll make up for it, breakfast is on me”. Safira would then reach into the back pocket of her denim shorts, and from it pull out a leather wallet. It, much like the jacket had the logo of Bane’s gang sewn upon it. Safira threw it out onto the table in front of her, cracking a smile for the first time today. ”Well, Delilah, technically”. Safira would add. While she had been an assassin for a long time now, she hadn’t forgotten about what she had learned before. On the streets, Safira learned all about petty theft, and was quite adept at it. You don’t forget that, ever. It was so much more useful than that stuff they waste your time with in school; who uses trigonometry anyway?

"Wow." Rose chuckled softly "you banged her and robbed her in one night? Wonder if she is gonna be pissed or impressed." Rose clicked her tongue as she gave it a little thought. As she waited for her food Rose shrugged a little "Honestly I just danced for a bit more and headed to a safe house. Shower and exercise this morning and now food. Definitely not so risqué as what you got up to. Was nice though. Definitely feel pretty chilled after the Mr Chang thing. Speaking of which, my contract has concluded with that employed now that I retrieved the item they requested." She gave the assassin a smile and then turned her attention to the waitress who placed a large stack of pancakes and bacon down in front of her. "God this looks amazing." Rose grinned widely "Could I get some...you read my mind!" Just as the Merc was about to ask for the syrup the woman was already placing it down beside her. "Thanks a lot."
The entire small jug was poured over the afore mentioned pancakes and bacon and Rose watched it run down the sides with a happy amusement, this sort of breakfast reminded her of the times her father would take Rose out after a job well done. Slades attempt at Daughter Father bonding time. He'd sit there with his coffee and toast and she would have something just like this. Even with him not here, it still made her think of him. Not in an annoyed way at that.
"But less work talk and more breakfast!" Picking up the fork and knife Rose began to cut herself sections, letting the syrup drip between the cuts before she took a bite with an ecstatic Mmm. "So good. You are missing out big time here. Seeing as we are friends now, I think I could let you have a little bit if you want to try?" Was that what it was? Rose gave it a quick thought. Was she really friends with the Assassin? Was their a word for people who were friends but would easily kill the other if someone told them too? If not someone should probably make a word up for it. "Might be worth getting you some other clothes and a decent shower. Chi town is not the warmest of locations. Wonder how London is this morning, the news report must be pretty funny."

”What an eloquent way to put it”. Safira would say with a smile. It seemed such a bare bones way to put it, and yet described things perfectly. Bangin’ n’ Stealin’ – that’s got bumper sticker written all over it. ”She’ll have to be impressed, not like she has much say in the matter. She got what she wanted out from the night; fun. I owe her nothing else”. Safira would add, gripping the handle on the cup of coffee. All Safira promised Delilah was a night of fun, and that is what happened. This was just a means of ensuring that the time spent with Delilah was well worth it for Saffy. ”Besides, who cares if she’s pissed, right? Not like her or her brothers are dumb enough to walk in here and make demands. Members of the Shadows… trumps Bane superfans”. She said with a smirk, as Safira went about drinking the rest of her coffee. It was one of the perks of being associated with the League of Shadows. There was often a feeling of being untouchable, of being able to say or do anything within the assassin community without repercussions. Ra’s Al Ghul was atop the food chain, and the League’s members weren’t far below. No-one would dare make a move against the League, nothing was worth drawing Ra’s Al Ghul’s attention. ”We’ll find you someone next time”.
Wow. Friends? Things had certainly progressed quickly and well in the past twenty four odd hours. There weren’t many people who Safira considered a friend, a hand full at the most. But Rose was certainly stating her case for being on such an exclusive list. ”Don’t mind if I do”. With glee, the Assassin picked up a small strip of bacon and go on to take a bite or two. It was just as Rose had described; so good. There may not be a word for friends that would happily cut the other down. But that wasn’t going to happen. Rose wouldn’t, it would jeopardise Deathstroke’s standing with the Light, and put a League warrant on her head. Likewise, Safira wouldn’t. Not unless Ra’s ordered her too and even then… she never fancied having to spend time with Deathstroke.
”I think... I’ll have to pass on the Chi town tour”. Safira said having finished what she took off Rose’s plate. ”Demon Head’s to see, people to end”.

"Man..."Rose sighed slumping a little in her chair for dramatic effect before forking some pancake into her mouth thoughtfully "Work never really stops does it. Its why I do stuff like last night. Breaks from it, you know?"
Dipping a piece of bacon in the syrup "We ain't gonna find me anyone in a club I don't think. I got rules and stuff. No random hook ups, no matter how cute or hot they are. I want something real Saffy. Life is a harsh place, we need real things so they don't get ruined by it." Rose nodded mostly to herself as she explained her thoughts on the matter. "I get your view though. Could be dead tomorrow or the person you are with could be used against you. I mean The Demon Head has daughters, so he must have loved at least once. So why should we be any different? Surely it is up to us to protect those we care about?"
A snap as she crunched though a bit of bacon with another mmm. "You don't keep what you can't hold on to." Rose grinned softly "What happened to your bag of clothes? I doubt going back to the league in short shorts is the best idea. From what I remember they had a dress code. Those itchy ninja clothes, pretty sure that was a test for newbies though. Here new guy, wear this outfit and prepare for the trial of you can't scratch or we kill you."
Her time in with the League was a bit of an oddity for Rose, the training had been beneficial but she was the perpetual outsider. The girl there because of dealings between her father and Ra's. She wasn't a true Assassin, she wasn't even picked like the others. It had had three effects, that sort of attitude towards her, firstly Rose had pushed herself hard to prove she wasn't some spoilt girl living off her dads reputation; secondly it had meant a lot of battered and bruised Leaguers as Rose smashed her way through anyone who spoke against her within earshot. She refused to take any sort of hit on her rep from anyone. The third thing that she had learned was that she was missing something in life, that connection that the temple students had. That simple human thing of feeling part of something with someone else. They were a group, heh it was in the name, they were a league. Rose was just a Merc doing solo work. As she ate another chunk of pancake it clicked with Rose, that was probably why this new team thing meant so much to her. She wanted to connect with people.

“It’s barely even half past ten in the morning, and already… this… you so needed a hookup”. Safira said, with an obvious tiredness about her. It wasn’t the morning talk that would make you want to wake up. Rose was being rather dreary, quite depressing really. A short lived sigh would escape from Saffy as she produced a smile on her face. ”If it makes you feel any better; I guess you can hang around with me… the cool kid”. Safira would say looking rather smug with herself. She had grown fond of having Rose around, a huge departure from the usual League assassins she had to ride with; you would find more joy talking to a brick wall than some of them on occasion. ”You know, till Prince Charming comes flying in on a zipline… then you’re his problem”. She added, jokingly.
Then came the matter of their pre-shopping spree gear and the League dress code – something Saffy had never had a problem with. ”How do you know I haven’t snuck back already?”. Safira said, an inquisitive eyebrow raised. ”It’s not like I need to creep past Ra’s or anyone”. She added. Surely after the day or so that the two had spent in one another’s company, Rose knew just how sneaky Saffy could be if she wanted to. ”And there is reasoning behind the dress code, Rose”. She added. To those in the League, the reasoning was perhaps obvious. Safira felt it was anyway, and appeared a little confused at how Rose didn’t get it. Anyone who has spent even a day in the League should get it.
Everyone dresses in a similar fashion as it then makes them all equals. Able to work as a team, a unit, leaving behind reputations and what not to gel as one. Everyone has to be equal, and know that just like them, their comrades are willing to die for the greater good of the collective. Of course, there were some within the League who could afford to stand out; Ra’s, Talia etc. Safira had done the same, in some respect. The string of her bow, a bright pink color, and her outfit overall a more tighter fit than most. But even still, you could tell whom she is aligned with.
”So what have you got planned anyway? Checking in with pops?”. Tay would say with something of a humorous tone to her voice. Whether Rose even needed to check in with anyone was something of a mystery, as was life as a solo act to Tay. Branching off on your own seemed difficult, dangerous and as Rose had alluded to before; lonely. Fulfilling contracts without the assurances the League possessed was an odd thought for the teleporting assassin.
