January 21, 2018 They had gone too far. At first, the sudden spike in random kidnappings had only seemed to be an unusual occurrence. Then the kidnappings had started to become much more suspicious. No ransom demands were ever made, and sometimes a victim would just suddenly reappear, with no memory of where he/she had been, while other times, a victim would seemingly vanish off the face of the Earth, never to be heard from again. The entire issue put a bad feeling in Batman's stomach, and he had a sneaking suspicion that The Light was somehow behind it. Of course Batman had investigated the kidnappings, but the little evidence he had been able to find had been virtually worthless, and soon other issues had taken presidence over the kidnapping one. That was no longer the case The kidnappings had become more frequent, and some of The Team's own had suddenly disappeared. Now was the time for immediate action and drastic measures. The first phase of Batman's plan had already been initiated, but he had soon realized that he would need help to rescue those who were threatened by this new potential enemy. Batman paced back and forth in the Watchtower's central control room. The young heroes he had chosen to assist him with the investigation had each received a brief message ordering their presence in the control room, and Batman was now forced to wait until they arrived.

”I trust you know what you’re doing”. Tim would say as he promptly arrived within the central control room of the Watchtower. He had just come from Gotham, after having heard the news of the Wayne Enterprises sponsorship of the GCPD. It was always risky having that amount of surveillance, dangerous in the wrong hands. But Tim had full confidence in his mentor’s motives. He wouldn’t go to such measures if there wasn’t a need for it.
Tim stepped over towards where Batman was, stood a mere yard or two away. He looked to Bruce with a serious expression, his eyes narrowed ever so slightly. He liked to think that he had a good read of what Bruce was thinking, but was never too sure. The Dark Knight never seemed to drop many hints like others would. It was unnerving to some, but Tim was past the phase of feeling nervous around the often frosty and sometimes brooding nature of Bruce or Grayson.

After his encounter with Safira, Red had been trying to stay off of people’s radar, which didn’t seem to matter when it came to the Batman. Somehow, the Dark Knight had been able to get a message to him about a meeting for a mission, and if there was one thing that one didn’t do it was ignore a summons from the Batman. Heck, one didn’t ignore any kind of action that the hero of Gotham made, so the crimson archer made his way to a zeta tube and got transported to the Watchtower for whatever assignment that this was going to be.
Walking into the room, he noted the presence of Batman and Robin, but there was no one else in the room. Now there were two reasons for this that he could think of, and the first one made more sense than the one that he was about to voice. ”So am I early to this briefing,” he asked as he adjusted the bow over his shoulder. If it was just going to be the three of them, then this was definitely going to be an interesting assignment, and it might just give him enough of a thrill to make up for his lack of activity.

Batman stopped pacing the moment Tim entered the room. It was easy to deduct from Tim's narrowed eyes that Batman's sidekick was attempting to get a read on his experience mentor. Judging by Tim's question, the young hero was just as concerned with the risk of Wayne Enterprises' recent deal as Bruce was.
There were many corrupt cops in Gotham, and many criminals as well. The surveillance equipment Wayne Enterprises had donated to the GCPD could be used for evil as well as good. Bruce barely trusted himself with power over a street-level city-wide surveillance system, and ordinarily he would never have built such a system, let alone trust it to the GCPD; however, with currently untraceable kidnappings taking place, and members of The Team missing, Batman felt the risk was justified, and allying with the GCPD was the only way he could set-up the system so quickly.
Despite Batman's own doubts, he needed to maintain a facade of cold confidence in front of Tim. His tone and eyes remained unreadable as he answered Tim's question.
"Of course".
It was not long until Red Arrow showed up, and the briefing could begin. When Red Arrow asked if he had arrived early, Batman narrowed his eyes in the young hero's direction and replied with, "No, you're the last to arrive".
Batman took one more breath before continuing. His words were concise and to the point.
"Several people, including one of our own, have begun to disappear. I believe they are being kidnapped, but for what purpose, I do not know. The only information I have concerning whoever is behind these disappearances is that they are professionals, and do not leave any evidence behind. I have been unable to identify any connections between those who have disappeared".
Batman paused for a second. If either of the heroes had any questions, now was their chance.

There was no need for Tim to press the issue any further. Despite the two word response, the tone of Bruce’s voice said enough. Consequences had been weighed up, and the risk appeared worth taking. They could only hope now that Gotham’s finest would do nothing untoward with the technology of Wayne Enterprises.
Tim turned his attention towards the entrance of the room having heard Red Arrow arrive. It was a relief for Tim to know that he wasn’t the only one here. Based on the seemingly frosty demeanour of Bruce, it would be nice to have someone else around to help counteract it. It also aided with working out what Bruce might be thinking. You put all three codenames together, and it screams; ‘stealth mission’ - which just so happened to be Tim’s favourite kind of mission.
As Bruce began to brief the room, Tim didn’t bother to interject. He remained quiet, processing the information as Bruce explained the situation. How are they supposed to gain a lead on who’s behind this if no evidence is left behind? It seemed very much a tough and tricky situation for them to be in, and with Bruce going to extreme measures already with the introduction of surveillance footage in the GCPD. Tim got the feeling that similar measures would need to follow.

As Batman explained what they were doing there, it wasn’t looking good if people were being abducted, and there was no clue as to who was doing it, why they were doing it and how people were being chosen. Overall, it looked as though this was going to be a really interesting mission that was going to involve a lot of sneaking around, which explained why there were only three of them in the room. Of course, where they were going to be sneaking around was still unknown at this point, but he supposed it was all about to be explained to them.
”So just to make sure that I am getting this, people are being kidnapped by an unknown player, one of ours is among the missing and we have no leads,” asked Roy as he cocked his head to the side. To anyone else, it sounded like an impossible thing to deal with, but to people like them it sounded like a typical Sunday. ”Did I forget anything or has this situation truly reached the ‘between a rock and a hard’ place stage?”
It might have sounded a tad sarcastic and pessimistic, but one couldn’t argue with the fact that things seemed to be as bad as they could possibly be. ”Seeing as how you wouldn’t call us here for nothing, I assume that you have a plan on how to handle this situation, right?”
