September 30th, 2017. 22:29.
Dick Grayson pushed his way through the crowded club, almost unable to hear himself think over the blaring music. He would have loved it normally. Any other time, and he would be having the night of his life, but tonight he had other priorities.
He had been solving the case of a few missing college kids, and his best lead was supposedly there. After having put a tracker on the possible felon's car, he followed them here, watching as they entered. Now, he just needed to keep up with them, capturing their every move.
"Baby, I'm preying on you tonight. Hunt you down, eat you alive. Just like animals, animals. Like animals."
He finally made it to the other side of the dance floor, evading the mass as he stepped toward the light near the bar. He glanced down at his phone, checking the time. It was now 10:30, and the night was only beginning for him.
The club was full of basketball players and cheerleaders, and Nightwing assumed that there had been a game earlier that night. Apparently, it had been between Gotham and Metropolis, and he definitely didn't mind all of the cheerleaders. He wished he hadn't been on a mission so that he could enjoy it, but he knew that he had to stay focused. He had decided to go under cover for this mission, seeing as he was planning on approaching his subject. Dick wasn't in uniform, and he hoped that he wouldn't run into-
"Hi hi!" A beautiful brunette stood before him, her smile wide as her hazel eyes glistened against the light. "I didn't think I'd be seeing you here!"
Nightwing gave a small chuckle, looking to the right slightly, eyeing the suspect that appeared to be heading to the bathroom. Good, that gave him a few minutes. He looked back at the girl, thinking up a response.
Her name was Amy, and the two had been on a few dates. Dick had decided that the relationship wouldn't be going any further, and asked to be just friends. She was sad at first, of course, but they had managed to stay pretty good friends after that, and he felt bad for his current need to blow her off.
"Yeah," he said quickly. "Same to you." He nodded, flashing her a small smile.
She laughed as though it were the funniest thing on earth. "Oh my god, you are so cute. I'm always here, silly." She cocked an eyebrow momentarily. "Wanna dance?"
Dick genuinely considered it, but he knew he couldn't.
"I can't," he said. "I'm only here for a quick drink, and then I have plans." He frowned.
"With another girl?" Amy joked, pushing him mockingly.
He laughed. "No, with Derek. We're going to..." Dick became sidetracked when his probable felon walked by. He watched her walk away as she entered the crowd.
Amy grinned, raising both eyebrows. "Her!" she said. "You tiger! You're here for her!"
Nightwing shook his head quickly. Yes, this subject was one in which he'd consider attractive, and he was here for her, but no, it wasn't like that. It did, however, give him an idea. He laughed yet again, raising both hands in surrender. "You've caught me."
"Go!" She giggled as she pushed him forward.
He glanced back at her, before walking forward, again weaving through the crowd of people in attempt to find the mystery woman in which he called his subject. He made his way past everyone that was dancing rather close to him, keeping his eyes locked on the mystery woman.
Suddenly, someone shoved a girl forward. She stumbled backward, falling onto Nightwing, nearly knocking him down in the process. Dick sighed, pushing her back upright before she could hit the floor, as her friends surrounded her immediately.
Without even hearing an apology, Nightwing moved on, searching the club for his now missing subject. He stepped off of the dance floor, his eyes scanning the room hurriedly.
She was gone. He rolled his eyes, pulling out his phone to check the tracker once again. 'No signal' the screen flashed, leaving Nightwing to groan in response. That could only mean one thing, she had found the tracker, and she had destroyed it. Sighing, Dick slid the phone into the back pocket of his jeans. He couldn't go after her now, she would become suspicious. No, the only thing he could do was stay at the club and check out the ladies. He smirked. He might as well enjoy it, and on the plus side, he had his eye on the cute red head across the room. "Don't tell no lie-lie-lie-lie. You can't deny-ny-ny-ny. The beast inside-side-side-side. Yeah, yeah, yeah." The music was ringing through the room. Nightwing smiled in the direction of the cute girl, approaching her, his charm clearly evident as he moved forward. She was, in his opinion, hot, and he was very thankful that his mission plans had been cancelled. His smile grew as he came closer, the lights flashing and the music blaring. This was going to be a great night.

[/font] "Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug!" came the chants as a friendly drinking competition between home team and visiting team was being played. Leave it to the athletes not to know when to stop competing. M'gann tugged at her skirt for what must have been the 100th time. It was shorter than she normally wore her skits and the low dip at the back made her feel more exposed. "Is this seriously what people wear in clubs Brit?" M'gann asked her team captain. The dress, the heels, the makeup and hair was not her usual style choice, it was all Brittney's. The girl's had suggested that M'gann ditch the multi-layered 'high school girl' look for a more mature style and while M'gann had first agreed she did not realize that more 'mature' meant you wore less articles and showed a bit more skin. She also didn't understand the point to high ankle breaking heels and prevented a person from moving too much on the dance floor. All she could really do was more sway and move her hips and arms around because if one tried to make any complicated dance steps with these heels she was liable to trip and make a fool of herself. M'gann figured that was probably why most of the girls dancing with the guys on the dance floor were leaning so heavily against them; it was for support. The boys' hands were along the girls' backs or waists for added support it seemed making the visage of undulating and gyrating bodies a hypnotic thing to watch. And it wasn't relegated to just boys and girls, there were some girls leaning into one another also seemingly unable to stay up on these ridiculously thing and high heels, M'gann thought erringly. "Ok number One Megan, stop fidgeting with your skirt, it's not too short, it's fine." Britney giggled. "Number Two, stop staring you're not exactly being all that subtle and number three, for God's sake Megs have fun, down this drink..." M'gann took the shot glass of some strange vile liquid and downed it exactly like Britney had done. "At-a girl! Now let's dance." The older girl chuckled and started to drag M'gann onto the dance floor and get the young girl to move like her to the music. The movements were perhaps for M'gann a bit more risqué than she ever danced before; really in the past it was a lot of just jumping around and fancy foot work of the House music footwork variety. Hence her uneasiness dancing like she used to with these insane heels and why it was that she could not stop gaping at the sensual way in which Britney and most of the girls on the dance floor were moving. "Sorry." M'gann chuckled, "It's just people didn't dance like...*that*, back home." she said of the sensual movements of Britney. "I'm not so sure I can do...*that*." she pointed out the movements again. "Can't or won't?" Britney challenged. "It isn't really that different from some of the moves in our routines." "Yeah but those are routines and followed up with tumbling runs and basket tosses, not really sure how that would fit in with these ankle breaking heels." M'gann joked. "This isn't Happy Harbor and you aren't in High school any more Megs." Britney said moving up to dance behind M'gann and coax her into dancing a little more. "High school moves just won't cut it anymore..." the girl cajoled. " The Collegiate boys are older and *hotter* particularly out here in Gotham." M'gann smiled and gave in to her friend's urging and started to mimic her movements unable to stop with chuckling as she felt quite a bit silly but after a bit of time started to really get into the movements with the songs. "And what makes you think that I even care --" M'gann's words trailed off at the last bit as her gaze caught a striking young man. Even in the dimly lit club with the flashing lights and mist his silhouette and smile was striking. The young man with the blue eyes had every bit of allure a walking GQ model had for the right kind of girl. "Mhmm..." Britney teased noticing the way M'gann was looking at the tall young man coming up towards them. "Yeah I can totally see how you *don't* care." M'gann started to blush, embarrassed at being caught by her friend in a lie and also because if she wasn't mistaken the guy threw a charming smile her way and OMG is he coming here?!?...Be calm M'gann, be calm, just dance...pretend it is no thing. She closed her eyes then, forced herself to get lost in the music as she moved her body in synch with the song. 'Don't tell no lie-lie-lie-lie. You can't deny-ny-ny-ny. The beast inside-side-side-side. Yeah, yeah, yeah.' The music was ringing through the room and in her ears and all the while M'gann was ever conscious of the young man coming up towards her, her red hair flaring and moving covering her face from time to time as she moved with the music, but even with the few tendrils that momentarily snaked across her face she could see him. The young man smiled as he approached her with all the charm that quickened her heart and sent butterflies in her stomach. She managed to smile back though it was so obviously shy but receptive to him. ~Oh my Godohmigodohmigod.~ M'gann thought as it was clearly evident as he was moving in towards her and she was suddenly very nervous. M'gann closed her eyes pretending to be engrossed with the music as she turned her back to his in coming form forcing him to come up behind her and dance or say something first. Either way M'gann didn't trust herself to make the first move, she needed to gain a bit of composure first. That and she was still partially in denial of the whole thing like a part of her was thinking, no way a guy like that was going to talke"Oh my god, M, your Abercrombie & Fitch Hottie is coming towards you." "You're not helping B..." M'gann said as she continued to dance and move to the music. "I'm trying to find my Zen here..."~Do not spaz M'gann.~ she told herself internally she could sense him coming up behind as she scrunched her eyes shut. Why was she so damn shy all of a sudden. ~Do not say anything Spastic...DO- NOT -BE-A-SPAZ.~

Nightwing watched as the girl danced. She appeared to be a little clumsy, but Dick found it attractive. Her bright orange hair swung side to side, as her hips did the same. Her short skirt and high heels made her appear taller, an appealing factor to Nightwing. He couldn't wait to display his smooth facade to the people of Gotham, especially this hottie. Her hair glowed in the flashing lights of the club, and he imagined that her eyes, the best feature of any girl, would be just as beautiful as the rest of her. Every step closer she was more breathtaking. He slowed his pace as he neared her, still eyeing her intently, while keeping his confident appearance present. He was gonna own this. He got closer, ready to speak. "Sup, Hottie," he said, giving her a smile, and playing it cool, while he waited for her to turn around. She hadn't been facing him when she had begun dancing, but he was definitely gonna get her attention now. "I was thinking you and I could-" Then she turned around, and Nightwing felt his heart drop, his eyes widen, and his stomach turn. It wasn't what he had expected, and she wasn't who he thought she was. This girl, though still beautiful, was not that kind of attractive to Nightwing, she never would be. He had always liked her, but not in that way.
He couldn't believe that M'gann was there. She looked older, and definitely more appealing. Too much more. He didn't like it, she needed to cover up with something, she needed to demand respect from guys. He usually loved short skirts. Any other girl, and that would've been the highlight of his night, but this was M'gann, she was like a sister to him, and he'd watched her grow up, she didn't need that kind of attention from other people. It wasn't who she was, even if a lot had changed. He only took a couple of seconds to think on that, before his mind immediately overrode all else to focus on the primary concern- He had been wanting a flirt-session with his best friend- his family. The thought of it merely made him sick to his stomach now, but what could he say? He was almost one hundred percent sure she had recognized him, and he wasn't one to flee when things got tough.
"M-m... Megan? Is-" He was suddenly sweating bullets as his face flushed. He was officially embarrassed, and he didn't know what to say. He ran a hand through his hair. "Is that... ..Megan? Wow, I didn't expect to see you here... ... I, uhh..." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck, before shrugging. He offered a small, unsure smile, wanting to fall through the floor. He couldn't believe the way he had just thought about her. He hoped she hadn't heard him call her hot.

[/i] Brittney had said in that conspiratorial excited way as the music continued to blare and the two danced with their friends. M'gann couldn't help but feel a bit excited with that butterfly feeling in the stomach. The cute guy actually noticed her! Maybe there was something to this ridiculous outfit Brittney put her in. As much as M'gann was skeptical at first it seemed to have caught the guy's attention so maybe she was wrong about Brit's techniques. "Totally heading your way M...like a few feet!" Brittney scrunched her face in that excited mousey look that on any other given time M'gann would have laughed but right now she was too nervous to laugh. "The commentary is seriously 'Not' helping with my zen right now B." M'gann said. "But he's getting close." "stop it." "You should turn around." "No." "He's even cuter up close M!"
" Not helping B... Not helping."" You need to turn around, smile at him." "I have to go to the bathroom." M'gann lied. She just changed her mind, she didn't want to talk to the ultra cute guy this was just too intense. " " He's almost here!" Brittney said blocking M'gann's way. " I don't think I can do this.""Yes you can!" Brittney said. "He's just going to ask you to dance." "I'm already dancing." M'gann countered. " Don't be such a wimp." "I'm not."" He's like right there...turn around and say hi." Brittney said leaning into M'gann to tell her to turn around. "No." M'gann said stubbornly to her friend but when she felt his approach, body right behind hers as she danced, those darn butterflies fluttered crazily and then he spoke, in and amongst the din of club music and party people, he addressed her... ~Umigosh M'gann do not spaz!~ she told herself as she waited to hear that perfect voice that would complement the cuteness. That absolutely melt your heart ... "Sup, Hottie,"
Voice... That voice? There was something about that voice that was familiar and pulled at her to remember... A voice that was so... "I was thinking you and I could-" "Dick?!" M'gann turned around in shock and horror. ~OH MY GOD!!!~ M'gann's mind reeled. She felt sick at the pit of her stomach as the butterflies that originally were fluttering euphorically in her stomach in revelry had all suddenly dropped like lead flies to the pit of her stomach...yeah she was gonna be sick. The guy she saw across the room and thought was totally cute was Dick Grayson?! He was like a brother to her; grew up with him. ~Oh my God I was checking out my own brother!~ M'gann felt like the ultimate perv and wanted to be killed on the spot right now either that or throw up...maybe throw up first and then get killed. Her face was flush with embarrassment and stammered to come up with some save. "Hey..." she stammered meekly. "M-m... Megan? Is- Is that... ..Megan? " He was suddenly sweating bullets as his face flushed. He ran a hand through his hair. "Uhm, Yeah..." she said tugging at her skirt which Brittney quickly slapped her hand for. M'gann turned and shot a look at her friend who simply beamed enjoying the awkward. " Wow, I didn't expect to..." "I know..." "...see you here... " Dick stammered. "Yeah ... I didn't either..." M'gann said just as he was talking she was also talking making their words all meld into one almost sentence. "... I, uhh..." "Yeah...uhm..." it was full of awkward, her eyes looking anywhere but at Dick at the moment, she felt so gross right now. ~Totally needed a shower....a mental shower. GHAH! He is like my brother!!!~
"Well I'm going to leave you kids alone now!" Brittney seemed to appear from nowhere, M'gann would swear she was a ninja as her friend appeared to the side and putting her hands on both Dick's and M'gann's back pushed the two together so that their bodies pressed before Brittney left with a slight chuckle. "Call me tomorrow morning Megs. Be safe." she gave the girl a mischievous grin and a wink Dick's way. ~Oh My God!~ the other girl's implication caused another flush to M'gann's cheeks. The young Martian totally wanted to die. Immediately M'gann pushed away from Dick as if his chest was made of fire. "That Brittney...hehehe" M'gann said awkwardly, "Such a kidder...eheheh" awkward fake laughter. "..." "Uhm..yeah..." looking up at her one time teammate. "So this like didn't happen right?"

"Yeah... uhm..." Nightwing couldn't even look at her, he was mortified. He wished he hadn't created such an awkward situation, he should've known who she was.
He was still blushing immensely, when another girl appeared beside them. "Well, I'm going to leave you kids alone now!" the girl said, placing her hands on their backs and pushing them toward each other, a little too closely. "Call me tomorrow morning, Megs. Be safe." She gave a mischievous grin to M'gann before winking at Dick, as she was walking away.
Nightwing's eyes widened in horror at the insinuation that the other girl had made, though it didn't stop him from watching her walk away. She was cute, but he could worry about that later, the current scenario was of his upmost concern. Not to mention that she had been a terrible influence on M'gann, and was the possible cause of said martian's new style. He felt Miss Martian push away from him, as he immediately took a few steps back. He hadn't thought it possible, but he felt his face heating up even more, turning a darker shade of red. He couldn't believe everything that had just happened, he'd rather be anywhere but there. "That Brittney... Hehehe. Such a kidder... eheheh." Miss Martian appeared to be forcing laughter, looking just as embarrassed as Nighwing had felt. He hated that he had made the situation so difficult on her, he shouldn't have said hi to begin with. "..." "Umm... Yeah... So like this didn't happen right?" "Yeah," he said a little too quickly, shaking his head slightly. "Never happened, ever." He gave a quiet, nervous chuckle, eyeing the floor. He was still so embarrassed, and couldn't wait to move past this. Sighing, he finally looked her in the eyes, trying his best to not look away, attempting to stop the awkwardness that had grown between the two. The lights danced across her eyes and reflected slightly off of her hair. She was beautiful, but Dick still couldn't believe he hadn't recognized her sooner. She was the same like-a-sister best friend he'd spent time with earlier, the same Team member he'd grown to love. How had he thought that she was someone else, someone that he didn't even know? He wasn't sure, and he didn't care. The quicker they were out of this situation, the better, but he was still struggling for words. "..."
"What're you doing here?" Dick asked, almost unsure of what to say. He had a primary concern, and felt every urge to address it. "Uhm... You always wear that?" It came off a little too blunt, and Nightwing felt bad about it, a little, but he knew what he was talking about. No one at that club had good intentions, that's why he went. He raised his eyebrows slightly, waiting for an answer. He would let her explain, before he corrected her.

[/b] "Yeah," Dick said a little too quickly, shaking his head slightly. "Never happened, ever." He gave a quiet, nervous chuckle, eyeing the floor. "Right." M'gann agreed just as quickly looking away at the others dancing around them than at him at the moment. It was still awkward and weird and she had to wrap her head around the fact that she actually thought...that he actually thought... ~Oh god I need to stop this...Never Happened...Never Happened.~ She said to herself over and over just to forget about that thing that happened but now mutually agreed upon didn't. She was still so mortified. M'gann just wanted to move past this. Her eyes shifted over to Dick when she heard him sigh. Their eyes finally met when he looked her in the eyes, trying his best to not look away, attempting to stop the awkwardness that had grown between the two. M'gann was trying to do the same. The lights danced across his blue eyes and face, framing it to enhance his features and always well coiffed hair. She knew all the girls thought he was handsome, 'hot' actually was what the girls called him. Heck even a few members of the team at one point or another crushed on Dick. M'gann though always saw him as a big brother so while she could understand the other girls' attraction, she had never seen that side until tonight. That somewhat icked her out, but she pushed that out of her mind because the brother card for her was highly prevalent and all initial attraction was doused in ice cold reality or the familial. He was like-a-big brother- best friend deal, he was the same Team member she'd grown up with and loved as a real brother. How she had thought that he was someone else was beyond her but she was going to chalk it up to the play of lights and the initial hazy distance...yeah that was it. It seemed though as much as she was wrestling with her faux pas, so too was Dick as he was still struggling for words. "...""What're you doing here?" Dick asked, and M'gann opened her mouth to explain she was down here celebrating with the Metropolis Basketball team and Cheerleading squad when he continued on to say. "Uhm... You always wear that?" M'gann's eyebrows raised in a surprised and questioning manner when he asked about her attire. True M'gann herself questioned the validity of said garment loaned to her by Brittney and while she did share the some reservations over length, general clingyiness and amount of skin showed her general defences went up at the near sound of disapproval in Dick's voice. And even if she wasn't the biggest fan of said attire, the 'little sister' in her could not help but rise to the occasion and rebelliously reply back. "What's wrong with my clothes? People seem to like it." she challenged, motioning at a few other guys looking over at her. "You seemed to be liking it a few minutes ago?"

"What's wrong with my clothes? People seem to be liking it," M'gann challenged, motioning at a few other guys looking over at her. "You seemed to be liking it a few minutes ago?" Nightwing took a protective step toward her when he noticed that the other guys were checking her out, moving to where he would be blocking their view. She was getting the wrong kind of attention. Was she really gonna play that card? It was none of her business what he liked. The way he saw it, Megan needed to take responsibility, and admit that she was wrong. She shouldn't go anywhere wearing that, and she knew better. She was the most respectable person Dick knew, what was she thinking? That was his point, she wasn't thinking. The only people who would be liking that, were the ones with bad intentions, and Nightwing knew it. He didn't want people thinking of her in that way, and he wasn't about to let her think it was okay. He narrowed his eyes slightly, his lips pressed together in mere frustration, before he leaned forward, ready to speak, making his voice clear. "Leave what I like out of it. You know better than to be wearing that at a place like this. Do I have to explain to you what their intentions are?" Dick jerked his head to the side, gesturing to the guys that had been staring at her, before he had blocked their view. "Because, trust me, it's nothing good." He shook his head. "I may like it on other people, but you're not other people." Dick genuinely felt bad for having set a bad example for Miss Martian. It wasn't a leader-like thing to do, but, the way he saw it, his life as Dick Grayson was just that- his. As Nightwing, he understood that he had to watch his actions, and set an example for anyone and everyone he came into contact with- it was called being a hero- but life as Dick Grayson was much different. As Dick, he could do or say whatever he wanted to, and, usually, he didn't have to consider any form of consequence. He didn't need anyone else's approval, and they didn't need his. It was the kind of lifestyle that Dick loved living, but, in his opinion, it wasn't meant for people like Miss Martian. She deserved a better environment, and didn't need to be around stuff like that. "This isn't like you, so why are you doing this? Are you trying to impress them?" Nightwing motioned to her friends, almost positive that they were the reason for her new attire, as well as her new hang out. Why was she trying to impress them? Did she feel inferior because she didn't act like they did? Their personalities needed changing, not hers. She was fine before they showed up. Dick didn't know who she had changed for, but she would be changing back, and it was final.

M'gann watched as Dick moved to take a protective step toward her when he noticed the other guys M'gann pointed to were checking her out, moving to blocking their view of her. It was then that Dick turned to her and narrowed his eyes slightly, his lips pressed together in mere frustration, before he leaned forward, ready to speak, making his voice clear.
"Leave what I like out of it." Dick had said. He sounded angry, no frustrated with her, M'gann could sense it and the young Martian couldn't help but shrink shyly away a little at his at the moment intimidating gaze. "You know better than to be wearing that at a place like this. Do I have to explain to you what their intentions are?" Dick jerked his head to the side, gesturing to the guys that had been staring at her earlier and for the first time M'gann looked over at the young men and opened her telepathy enough to glean their superficial thoughts which she quickly cut out once more. M'gann's face flushed a little and she looked away from Dick, the thoughts she picked up causing the heat to go to her face from embarrassment.
"Because, trust me, it's nothing good."
"I - I know that now." she said softly in embarrassed tones.
"I may like it on other people, but you're not other people."
"But that doesn't make sense." she said shaking her head. "You like it on other people? So it's ok for them, but not ok for me...why? And do you think what they think when you see this on other girls?" M'gann asked trying to understand why it was ok for everyone else but her to wear this. Why were there different rules for her? Truthfully she was uncomfortable in the outfit from the beginning but it was Britney's and M'gann didn't want to be rude about it. So she thought she'd try it out. Besides this was what she thought College girls were supposed to be like.
"This isn't like you, so why are you doing this? Are you trying to impress them?"
"No." M'gann quickly defended. "I am just trying to act like a normal College girl Dick. I mean this is what they seem to do. Isn't this what they do?" she asked him. He was older, had more experience, he would know .
"Isn't all this the College experience?" M'gann asked. "I'm not doing this because I want them to like me." she said motioning to her group of Cheerleading friends and the basketball players they were hanging out with presently. "They already like me...I'm just doing this to be 'normal' around them. Unlike you Dick Grayson, this is not what I am far from 'normal' so I need to make sure I blend in."
