29th of September. Qurac: The Logan Animal Farm.
The afternoon sun started its slow arched descend down over the horizon, the large yellow orb darkening into burnished gold as it sank, making it look like it was sinking into an ocean of clouds, setting them on fire as it ‘touched’ them, and making the skyline light up in a crescendo of warm red and orange colors.
The burning light danced across the wide open Savannas of Qurac, as if it was trying to fight the shadows that were creeping out from under the small crops of bushes and trees, stubbornly continuing to push at the winning shadows, trying to reach the darkening depths under the sparse vegetation, and failing.
This was a quiet time at the Logan Animal shelter, one that marked the slow shift between the animals that ruled the day, and those that would come out to haunt the night. But even now in this odd twilight zone of sounds, one insistent voice seemed to constantly break the silence.
“…Oryx is a genus consisting of four large antelope species… Three of them are native to arid parts of Africa, and the fourth to the Arabian Peninsula….”
Gar stared down at the leather-bound notebook, occasionally reading a section aloud to himself, in an attempt to copy it to his mental library. He’d put on his most concentrated expression too, intent as he was, on getting the most out of this study session. Doctor Gerard, the farms old Veterinarian, had even been so generous to lend Gar his glasses, so he could attempt to look even more scholarly, as he perused through his father’s handwritten notes, with his old birth home behind him, silhouetted against the orange skies, as an idyllic backdrop.
”… Their fur is pale with contrasting dark markings on the face and on the legs… their long horns are almost straight…”
Of course his attempt at looking like a top grade student might indeed have been strengthened by the professor like half-moon specs clinging to his nose, and the almost painful expression of concentration, if it hadn’t been for the fact that the green half boy, half monkey… was attempting to read the diary from an upside down perspective, hanging from a tree.
“…The exception is the scimitar Oryx, which lacks dark markings on the legs and only has faint dark markings on the head… Noted!”
He continued to mumble to himself, as he swung back and forth, his long tail, strong and flexible as it was, curled around a gnarled branch holding him up, as he almost meditatively imitated the pendulum of an old clock. He reached down to turn another page in the book, the low lights catching the white surface of the page as he flipped it, sending an almost explosive reflection back out from under the shadow of the wind worn Umbrella Thorn Tree.
“.. Garfield? Is that you over there?!” The sudden flash of white light flickering out from the branches of his hiding place, seemed to have called attention down upon him, and an elderly man was walking towards him with determined strides and a stern expression on his leathery face.
Gar blinked and craned his neck as he watched the man approach, his brain still halfway caught up in the world of the Oryx, and now trying to readjust to the current situation. He blinked as it caught up; wrinkling his simian nose in a speculative manner that made the half-moon specs bob up and down, and threaten to slip of his slender nose and down into the tall grass… perhaps it would have been a good idea to inform Doc Gerard about his generous loan? Gauging from the man’s expression and the wavering way in which he was trying to make his way towards Gar… it probably would have been the wiser cause of action… ‘alright… time to split…’ Gar uncurled his tail from the branch, and with a rather agile little twist, he dropped down into the grass, landing on all four, and was already half way out from under the tree, before the glasses even landed on the still open notebook with a soft little thud.
“Mr. Garfield Logan! Will you come back here right this instance?!” The voice followed him as he bounded out from under the tree, with a course straight for the furthest away corner of the animal sanctuary. ‘Wasn’t there a fence there that needed mending anyway…?’
“HI Doc! Thanks for the loan Doc! Bye Doc!” His face broke into a grin, white teeth flashing against the green skin, right before his simian form blurred, melted and morphed into that of a pale green deer like creature, with… dark green markings on its pale skin… face and legs … and almost straight horns…

It was hard to describe the feelings roiling within her and excitement was an understatement. M'gann had not seen her little 'brother' for almost a year. Sure she did her best to try to keep tabs, texting leaving messages for him, sending him baked goods when she could through her uncle J'onn but while she was trying to get a handle on her new and growing powers she couldn't be near people she could harm telepathically. So, a good portion of her missed Garfield, wondered how he'd been and what kind of young man he was growing into. M'gann felt guilty for leaving but at the same time it couldn't be helped. M'gann's physiology at the time was undergoing some changes causing her abilities to flux and without control of them she was not only a liability to the team but a danger as well. That was why her uncle took her to Chicago to train alone and study with him and understand the changes that had been occurring and taking over. Over the course of time though M'gann managed to control her new found abilities with much better precision, and enough so that her uncle allowed her to return to her friends; to the team. Still M'gann's biggest regret for leaving was leaving Gar behind. The boy was alone, without mother, and then without M'gann; he was without family. But now M'gann was determined to make this right. She was going to visit her little blood brother down in Qurac and make it all right by him, if she could.
With a smile at the memory of the young boy, M'gann gazed out at the vast plains of Qurac, the sun touching the long glades of grass making it look like a golden sea. Antelope and other herds of animals ran through the field, frolicking in the freedom of the open plains. Turning briefly over from the window to the clone that sat at another console looking out of her cloaked bioship M'gann smiled. She had invited Seven to come along when he had mentioned that he'd never been out of the city and thinking it a good education for him to see the world outside of Metropolis and experience firsthand the splendor and beauty that was Qurac and the wild life sanctuary, M'gann decided to extend the offer of Seven to join her in visiting her little 'brother'.
"Qurac is a democratic country, ruled by president Rumaan Harjavti. Its people have freedom of speech and general welfare, unlike their neighboring country Bialya. My brother's wildlife conservation is an animal sanctuary near the Bialyan border that protects and cares for not just the indigenous wildlife on Qurac but also the endangered ones." M'gann explained as she mentally had the bioship bring up various information on a 3D hollo-screen before Seven showing the various wildlife and general geography of the area.
"I hope this trip isn't too weird for you." M'gann said knowing that flying on a living alien ship usually freaked out most people but it couldn't be helped this was the fastest and safest way for them to travel.
It was then just as she looked out absently out the window M'gann spotted it, running in and amongst the tall golden glades of the Quracan plains; a pale green deer like creature, with… dark green markings on its pale skin… face and legs … and almost straight horns…
"Gar..." her brother's name escaped her lips with an almost earnest exhale of breath and then her mind reached out to the running creature below.
::Hello little brother.:: came her mental call in Garfield's head, like the gentlest stroke or the slightest touch of affection, her voice within his head was a delicate and a gentle sound filled with a longing to see her brother again and hold him in her arms in a great big hug.
She missed him so much. ::What are you running from this time? Or do I even want to know?::

To say his mind was boggled would be an understatement. First of all he hadn't really considered that the world went further than the cities that he had visited. Though now that he had given it some thought it made perfect sense that it would reach far further than he had experienced. He just had no idea how. Then there was the flying vehicle. It wasn't earth made, that he could tell right away as he couldn't place any parts or readout as human. Yet, he found that easier to accept than a bigger world. With things outside his knowledge frame he tended to just accept them as fact until proven otherwise. So this was a ship from M'gann's home world or from some place else outside or Earth. Much easier to put that in the ok for now but we will get to it pile than to try and work out the vast distances that outside of the world would be and what it might contain.
So instead he watched the water, much like the time he met Kat the sheer volume was mind blowing. He now understood that it covered three quarters of the world. The amount of water that that was was an insanely high number. One he had calculated right down to the point that someone told him that the ocean wasn't smooth at the bottom which threw the number well off. So instead he had to settle with huge and inaccurate.
As the land mass approached, Seven's first thoughts were about the fact there was no citiy. He had expected it to look the same as america. While M'gann gave him the logistics of the country he continued to watch it sprawl out below them. Just lots and lots of land, hardly anything that resembled what he knew or had experienced.
"I hope this trip isn't too weird for you."
The clone shook his head before flashing her a grin "Everything is weird at times. Though this is something extremely different. Thank you for bringing me with you. I always learn the best things around you."
When she said the name Seven shifted his attention to look to see what might have caused it, and there it was the strange green animal. He had expected them both to be green because families do tend to share similar traits. Just not that her sibling would be four legged and non-human looking. That was a bit odd, even to Seven. Yet, it wasn't a judgement more an observation. M'gann was M'gann and Gar it seemed was a four legged Gar.

He loved running like this, the freedom, the rush, the sheer connection to the world around him as is rushed past him, the embrace of the earth itself every time his sharp hoofs pounded down against the packed surface. He tried to match his strides to the rhythm of his own heartbeat, trying to settle that into the faint beat he felt from the ground as well. It was meditational in its own way… attuning himself to mother earth, to the world, to life…
The green shape of the young Oryx leapt over the broken fence of the sanctuary, his mind lost in the sensation of the animal, and his prior thoughts of actual doing something useful, lost with it. Instead he gave himself into the sheer need to run. His body was made for it, made for speed, made for grace, and every muscle, every fiber seemed to work in perfect harmony as he moved… So how could he resist…
He had no real idea of how long he’d run, when he felt the first faint touch against his mind.
::Hello little brother.:: The surprise and the familiarity of it made his hoofs dig into the ground, every fiber of the speed machine suddenly changed into an intricate breaking system, that had him stop in a long slide across the grass plane, kicking up dust in a thick cloud around him, his hind legs almost flat against the ground. And as the dust settled again, it was replaced with the surprise radiating of the odd animal as it sat there, planted on its ass in the middle of the Qurac Savannah.
The Gar Oryx opened its mind and let out a cry of something... before it seemed to remember that wasnt going to work, and odd sheepish look slipping over its features.
::..huh… SIS?!:: He threw his mind focus out at her, in a much clumsier, yet no less eager touch. Already back on all four hooves again, the green Gar animal bounded along like new born kid who’d just discovered the awesomeness of moving around. He'd missed her so much, and he could barely contain himself or the rush of emotions bubbling up inside of him, at the surprise and delight at realizing she was withinn reach suddenly.
“You’re here! Your really here! Hi!” bounce, bounce, bounce… the odd bouncing only interrupted by the animal occasionally trying to spin around, lifting its horned head and trying to spot where ever his sister might be comming from.
::What are you running from this time? Or do I even want to know?:: He could hear the familiar chiding in her voice, and a part of him knew she'd missed him just as much, and if he'd had any resentment about her leaving, being gone for so long... it vanished for now.
::and who says I’m running from anything anyway! I’m like totally just running! …:: His mental voice hardly did much to make the words anymore convincing. It was so hard to lie when you were talking to the voices in your head… even if those voices where your sister… ::… and hey! Where are you anyway! Come on! come come! I cant seeee you!::

The surprise in the green animal below them was made evident by his hoofs suddenly digging into the ground. Every fiber of the speeding animal suddenly shifted into an intricate breaking system, that had the green animal stopping in a long slide across the grassy plane, kicking up dust and making a rut on the ground, causing a thick cloud around him. Gar's hind legs lay almost flat against the ground. And as the dust settled again, it was replaced with the surprise radiating of the odd animal as it sat there, planted on its ass in the middle of the Qurac Savannah looking all around.
M'gann could not help but literally laugh out loud with excitement and amusement as her little brother reacted to her mental voice. To Seven M'gann probably seemed crazy to just suddenly burst out in light laughter at seemingly absolutely nothing. She'd gone quiet almost contemplative when she sent her telepathic communication to her brother so to the Cadmus clone the sudden outburst in laughter probably sounded crazy.
The Gar Oryx seemed to let out a cry of something which one could see from the bioship screen... before it seemed to realize that it wasn't going to work, and odd sheepish look slipping over its features. Causing another chuckle of delight from the young Martian. Oh she had missed her brother so much.
::..huh… SIS?!::
She felt him throw his mind focus out at her, in a much clumsier, yet no less eager touch. M'gann wincing slightly but she still had a big smile on her face and maybe a bit of moisture in her eyes as she was getting all choked up and teary with glee at seeing her brother again and feeling his mind voice in hers. She really missed him so much.
The Gar Onyx then hopped back on all four hooves again, the green Gar animal bounded along like new born kid who’d just discovered the awesomeness of moving around. She could feel his excitement and energy making her chuckle and beam even more, tears welling and pooling more at the edge of her lids just wanting to spill over. She could sense that he could barely contain himself; the rush of emotions bubbling up inside of him, at the surprise and delight at realizing she was within reach just amplified the emotions M'gann feeling as she felt the same way. Only she wasn't bouncing around the ship, she wanted to but then Seven would really think she went bat crazy.
“You’re here! Your really here! Hi!” bounce, bounce, bounce… the odd bouncing only interrupted by the animal occasionally trying to spin around, lifting its horned head and trying to spot where ever his sister might be coming from.
Another burst of laughter came and then her chiding remark about what he was running from.
:: who says I’m running from anything anyway! I’m like totally just running! …:: His mental voice hardly did much to make the words anymore convincing. Kind of hard to lie to a telepath.
::… and hey! Where are you anyway! Come on! come come! I cant seeee you!::
Soft chuckling voice echoed in Gar's mind as M'gann replied. ::I'm right above you::
The bioship then decloaked just above the Gar Onyx at the same time M'gann revealed where she was. Then her voice sounded in his mind again.
::I brought a friend.:: she told him. ::We're on our way down now.::
With that M'gann looked up at Seven as she wiped away the tears that threatened to come out and chuckled lightly. "Sorry, probably looked weird with me bursting out in laughter for no reason, but I haven't seen Garfield in almost a year and I missed him...forgot how infectious his excitement can be." she smiled, really she couldn't stop. It was probably the happiest Seven would have seen the young Martian. Family was everything to her and seeing her brother again made her feel complete.
"I'm going to leave the ship up here so I will have to lower us down telekinetically. Hope you don't mind." she said and with that the ground from beneath Seven gave out dropping him quite literally from the ship M'gann following suit. Ok so maybe she should have warned him of the ground suddenly giving out but quite honestly she wanted to see the look on his face when it happened.
M'gann chuckled again as she caught him telekinetically and gently lowered the two to the ground before the green Gar Onyx.
"Hey Little Brother!" M'gann said opening her arms wide to hug the animal. It didn't matter that he hadn't changed back to his human form by the time M'gann landed and launched. The young Martian didn't really care, she just wanted to feel him in her arms again. "Missed you!" she squeezed in that annoyingly big sister hug kind of way laughing as he squirmed.
Finally releasing her hold of him she stepped back along side Seven. "Garfield, this is Seve. I was hoping you'd show us around the sanctuary, give him the tour...He's never seen anything like this before."
M'gann glanced over at Seven with a smile hoping he didn't mind that she admitted that he'd never been to an animal sanctuary before.
"Seven, meet my little brother Gar." M'gann beamed like the proud sister she was.

"Sorry, probably looked weird with me bursting out in laughter for no reason, but I haven't seen Garfield in almost a year and I missed him...forgot how infectious his excitement can be." Seven gave a slight smile, it was good to see her so happy. Usually there was a slight echo of sadness in the Martian, no matter how hard she pushed it down Seven could see it in her eyes or her tone now and again.
"I'm going to leave the ship up here so I will have to lower us down telekinetically. Hope you don't mind." Before the clone could make any real comment the floor was gone from below his feet and he was falling. Training kicked in then, free fall position was taken by instinct. Had she just dropped him out the ship? The thought amused him a little, after all if she had wanted to drop him to his death he would have drowned by now or his mind would be empty. Instead of fear or panic, Seven just felt trust. He was more than comfortable in putting his faith in her and her actions.
On the ground Seven watched curiously and slightly awkwardly as the two hugged, he hadn't really been around such levels of emotion before or the expressions of it. So he waited until he was addressed.
"Garfield, this is Seven. I was hoping you'd show us around the sanctuary, give him the tour...He's never seen anything like this before."Seven, meet my little brother Gar."
Seven nodded a greeting to the green animal, unsure if it could speak or even understand what was being said to it. He hoped that it could shape change, that would make life so much simpler. "It is a pleasure to meet you Garfield." Seven gave the four legged green beast a smile, he was supposed to offer a hand to shake but how could he do that if there was no hand to be shaken? "I hope my presence here will not cause you an issues. M'gann was kind enough to give me the chance to learn something else new. She had been extremely helpful. I would shake your hand but you do not seem to possess any." Seven wasn't really sure of the protocol now, he hadn't really met an animal before never mind one that was supposed to be related to someone he knew. He did like how it seemed to effect M'gann though, she was clearly more than happy to be around the green beast. He gave her a smile too, it seemed to be the thing to do currently.

Gar continued to bound around in circles with that to him so typical enthusiasm that was made no less infectious by its obvious sincerity. He really had missed his sister, and the sudden rush of excitement that had filled him when he’d realized she’d come to see him, wasn’t about to cool off anytime soon. The bounding only stopped as M’ganns voice rang out in his head again; ::I'm right above you::
He almost sat down on his tail again as he tried to lift his head enough to spot the ship. The oryxs neck wasn’t made for that however… all its natural predators where ground bound. It had no reason to look up. So instead he had to twist and turn, in an attempt to get himself into an angle that would allow him to spot the ship as it finally decloaked.
::OH OH! I see you! Where have you been?! I’ve missed you! A friend?! What friend?! Did you bring Superboy?! Did you?! Yes! Are you two back together?!::
He overloaded the telekinetic link with a flood of questions, that seemed to be made no less insistant by the appearance of the two, floating down from the ship.
::wait! That’s not… who’s that?! Who’s your friend?!::
The rising tide of questions, and the rather thurough inspection of this ‘new friend’ seemed to demand the Gar Oryx’s full attention, to the extent that he’d clearly forgotten he was still in the shape of a large green deer like creature. “Hey little brother! Missed you” He realized too late to do anything about it however, as M’gann slipped his arms around his thick neck, hugging him thightly. He squirmed between her arms, and the oryz let out a rather disgruntled little sound.
::Oi! Sis! Stop it! Eeeew… he’s watching! Your chooooking meeee!::
The green animal thrashed a little, though it was clear its attempts at getting out of the tight embrace was halfhearted at best. He likely didn’t mind half as much as he was pretending. Though it didn’t stop him from dramatically dropping onto the ground, playing dead, with his tongue lolling out of his mouth, as M’gann finally let go of him.
"Seven, meet my little brother Gar." "It is a pleasure to meet you Garfield”
It was the foreign voice that once again brought him back to senses, and the oryx leapt back up, and stared Seven down. As much as a deer really could stare anyone down that was.
"I hope my presence here will not cause you an issues. M'gann was kind enough to give me the chance to learn something else new. She had been extremely helpful. I would shake your hand but you do not seem to possess any."
It was about now that he decided it might be time to discard the somewhat awkward shape of the Oryz, afterall, he had at least some manners, and offering the man his hoof, while wailing at him in Oryx, might not be the most polite introduction in the world. So the large horns retracted down into his skull, as the deer shape seem to melt of him, changing, molding back into the shape of a green monkey like boy. He pulled himself up in upright position, with the long tail lashing out behind, in a manner similiar to that of a mildly annoyed cat.
“Are you dating my sister?” He tilted his head questioningly at Seven, his simian features furried into a light speculative frown. And it seemed fairly clear that the few seconds it had taken him to change forms, had been enough for him to forget he was meant to be polite.

She couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of her brother bounding around in circles with that typical enthusiasm that was made no less infectious by its obvious sincerity. He almost sat down on his tail again when M'gann finally gave up her position on the bioship, as he tried to lift his head enough to spot the ship. Sadly oryxs weren't made for that type f hyperextension as all its natural predators where ground based. It had no reason to look up. So instead Gar had to twist and turn in funny contortions in an attempt to get himself into an angle that would allow him to spot the ship as it de-cloaked.
And boooo, to Seven's lack of comedic surprise. The clone wasn't at all phased by the sudden drop. In fact Seven's training had kicked in then as he went into a free fall position instinctively taking away any fun at seeing a surprised or freaked out look. Instead he actually looked amused...Amused?! It was supposed to look like she was dropping him to his death, he was supposed to flail and squeal in panic...alas Soldier Boy instead simply put his faith in her without fear or panic, trusting that she would take care of things and well M'gann did but that wasn't the point. There was supposed to be girly screaming and flailing, sadly the descent was anti-climactic.
::OH OH! I see you!:: came Gar's excited mental exclamation to which M'gann internally chuckled, her laughter actually flowing via telepathy.
::About time.:: M'gann teased as she floated her and Seven down towards the Gar Onyx.
::Where have you been?! I’ve missed you! ...::
"I've missed you too little brother.:: M'gann said her mental voice coming in between Gar's excited ones making everything almost meld into one long string of words.
::A friend?! ::
::Yes, he's part of the T--::
::What friend?!:: Gar cut in becoming much more animated and excited
::He's new to the T-:: M'gann started to explain but it was hard to get in a word while Gar was this excited.
:: Did you bring Superboy?! ::
::What? No, I -::
::Did you?!::
:: Gar --::
::Yes!::
::No, Gar listen he's --::
:: Are you two back together?!::
::Gar!--:: M'gann was trying to get in a word, to tell her hyper excited brother that it wasn't Connor that was with her. How was she going to tell him that Connor had left the Team, that he was keeping his distance from them. How was she supposed to explain that to Gar?
There was a twinge of pain at the mention of Superboy that M'gann tried to just push away as her brother overloaded the telepathic link with a flood of questions, that seemed to be made no less insistent by the appearance of M'gann and Seven floating down from the Bioship.
::wait! That’s not…::
::No, he's not.:: M'gann said referencing that the dark haired blue eyed boy beside her was not Connor.
:: who’s that?!...::
::Look Gar...I'm sorry.:: M'gann said trying to gently break it to her little brother who just adored Connor, that the Boy of Steel wasn't with her in any form Garfield was inquiring about. ::Connor isn't with me.:: she stated tying to keep her thoughts focused and not show the pain or sadness that she harbored whenever Superboy’s name is mentioned.
:: Who’s your friend?!::
::That answer can wait a second while I do...THIS!:: With that, M’gann practically threw her arms around the Gar Onyx hugging him tightly and exclaimed.
“Hey little brother! Missed you!”M'gann had said as she wrapped her arms around him and held him.
::Oi! Sis! Stop it! Eeeew… he’s watching! Your chooooking meeee!::
M'gann started to laugh as her little brother squirmed in embarrassment, the young Martian getting a kick out of it simply hugged him tighter and nuzzled him just to bring out a bit more of the amusing discomfort in Gar.
::Drama Queen...:: M’gann joked. ::Now get up and meet my friend.::
"Seven, meet my little brother Gar." M'gann introduced and watched as the two exchanged greetings or well Seven did, Garfield on the other hand just took the awkward to a whole new level.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Garfield”
M'gann noticed how Gar was staring Seven down as he seemed to be appraising the boy at M'gann's side.
She listened and watched as Seven interacted with her brother. It was good for him to meet different people, good practice for social interactions and well Gar was definitely social so it would help Seven to talk to someone like Gar. It was then that Gar decided to discard the somewhat awkward shape of the Oryx and back into his favored form. The large horns retracted down into his skull, as the deer shape seem to melt into him, changing and molding back into the shape of a green monkey like boy. M’gann mused that her brother was getting quite good at the shifting now so she couldn’t help but smile proudly at him.
M’gann watched as Gar pulled himself up in upright position, with the long tail lashing out behind, in a manner similar to that of a mildly annoyed cat.
“Are you dating my sister?” He tilted his head questioningly at Seven, his simian features furried into a light speculative frown.
“OH MY GOD GARFIELD LOGAN! “ M’gann said eyes bulging and face flushed with utter embarrassment as she started to sputter out. “We aren’t...he’s not, I mean we’re... he’s...we...go to your room!” The last bit made no sense but M’gann was so flustered, embarrassed and mortified that she said the first thing she thought of which was ridiculous considering there was no room to go to and Gar’s bedroom was way too far for him to go to.
She then looked to Seven and with sudden relief realized he didn’t know what Gar’s question meant or implied which was a saving grace in a way. She offered the clone a small awkward chuckle still feeling the head on her cheeks.
“Pay no mind to my brother’s question...he’s just kidding around. “ M’gann said to Seven as she gave her little brother a stern look of ’I can’t believe you’. “Aren’t you Gar?”

“OH MY GOD GARFIELD LOGAN! “ M’gann said eyes bulging and face flushed with utter embarrassment as she started to sputter out. “We aren’t...he’s not, I mean we’re... he’s...we...go to your room!”
“Pay no mind to my brother’s question...he’s just kidding around. “ “Aren’t you Gar?”
M'gann's reaction to the question was a reaction Seven had not seen from her before, he'd seen her flustered but never to that degree. Physically he could see certain signs of things but so many at once was a little hard to work out.When she demanded that the green smaller human go to his room Seven looked around the area and couldn't see a habitat. Perhaps it was hidden from sight like the bioship or something else was in front of it.
"It didn't seem that funny a question but I've not really got the hang of humour yet. It would seem however that the answer to your question is No. Without additional information I can not answer for myself." Seven was still wrapping his head around the shape change as well. It was the same fluid shifting that he had seen before yet stayed green perhaps that was a choice to make people aware that it was still the same person?
The big question was where did it go? There was mass and a whole lot of repositioning going on, yet it happened instantly and with no side effects. It made no sense to the clone at all.
"It would appear though that M'gann would like a topic change. That happens a lot. Perhaps you could tell me more about yourself? You are a shifter, that much is clear. Shade of green is the same each time and matches M'gann. Yet she does not keep green all the time. Sorry, observations aren't needed and I will keep them to myself as best I can." Seven gave a thoughtful look before looking briefly to M'gann and then back at Gar. This was her family and so could be trusted "You will have to forgive me as I am still working out social interactions. Constantly learning. I am a mimic also but not a shape shifter unfortunately." If he understood the emotion properly then Seven might have considered himself a little envious of the proper shifters. He wasn't sure how but it seemed that it made fitting in easier, less troublesome than his own abilities.
As if to prove his point, Seven began to duplicate the younger males voice which was slightly unfortunate as he had only head the one phrase "Are you dating my sister?" If he had heard more then he could have expanded on it, even created speech using the same voice but new words but that was all he had for now. He gave the boy a smile in the hope that it would at least defuse some of the hostility.

Gar didn’t seem to be the type that stood still for more than a few moments at a type, It would appear that speed and movement was crucial to him no matter what form he was in, and he’d barely posed his rather awkward question towards this Seven, his sister had introduced, before he was circling them, inspecting them both. Not quite unlike a vulture. Though he figured his sister would at the very least appreciate if he didn’t take on that particular form, though the stray idea did amuse him for at least the first split of a second.
“OH MY GOD GARFIELD LOGAN! We aren’t...he’s not, I mean we’re... he’s...we...go to your room!” He hadn’t quite finished the first crucial circle of his inspection by the time M’ganns outraged voice pierced his attention, and he rushed back to his starting point with a rather comical mix of –pure- innocence, confusion and a rising streak of rebellion.
“WHAAAA? What did I do?! It was a perfectly reasonable question! You go to your room! Or… your.. ship! Yeah! Your ship!” He added indignantly at her.
“Pay no mind to my brother’s question...he’s just kidding around. “Aren’t you Gar?”
“Hey! I am not…. “ He didn’t finish his next retort before Seven mildmannered as he seemed, interjected and actually answered the question, even if Gar found the phrasing somewhat odd. It did however bring his attention back to the stranger, and he fixed his large eyes on the clone once more.
"It didn't seem that funny a question but I've not really got the hang of humour yet. It would seem however that the answer to your question is No. Without additional information I can not answer for myself."
Gar tilted his head at him, and raised an eyebrow. His tail rising behind him and swishing through the air in a slow serpentine dance.
"It would appear though that M'gann would like a topic change. That happens a lot. Perhaps you could tell me more about yourself? You are a shifter, that much is clear. Shade of green is the same each time and matches M'gann. Yet she does not keep green all the time. Sorry, observations aren't needed and I will keep them to myself as best I can."
“… your strange…” Gar gave the clone another speculative look, then suddenly broke into a bright grin. “.. she does that when she gets all shy and flustered you know! And then she gets angry… She’ll tell you to go to your room too soon! Even though miss clever-face! Clearly forgot there are no rooms around out here! But don’t worry, it’s just cus she liiiiikes you.” He turned his head to M’gann with the same cheeky grin, sticking his tongue out at her. Though there was still a slight hint of something else in his green eyes, dissaproval? or perhaps a lingering unspoken question. '..what did you do to connor...'
"You will have to forgive me as I am still working out social interactions. Constantly learning. I am a mimic also but not a shape shifter unfortunately." Seven seemed to be replying to Gars indication that he was strange, though the green boy had already moved on, his brain working about as fast as his feet seemed to do, and what ever he'd aimed at M'gann, was gone once more.
“You’re a mimic too? What does that actually mean? What do you do? You can’t change shape? Man… that sucks doesn’t it?! Is that why you’re traveling with my sister? To learn? And how come you havnt been here before? And how come your so weird?!…” The flood of seemingly never ending questions that he’d brought down over M’gann earlier, now seemed directed at Seven instead, though as he was forced to breathe, the other mimic broke into a version of his own voice, making Gars eyes bulge slightly and his grin widen, as seven copied his sentence from earlier.
"Are you dating my sister?"
“Sweeeeet! Can you do more than that?! Can you do M’ganns voice too?! Can You?! Tell her to go to her room!” He had clearly forgotten the mild disappointment that had filled him when he realized Connor was not the mentioned friend, it seemed to instead have given away to the excitement of meeting a new ‘superhero’, and he was practically bouncing on the spot, waiting to get his flood of questions answered.

“WHAAAA? What did I do?! ..."
"You know very well what you did."
"...It was a perfectly reasonable question!
"No it wasn't, it was impolite to ask and none of your business."
"...You go to your room! Or… your.. ship! Yeah! Your ship!” Garfield added indignantly at M'gann.
“Pay no mind to my brother’s question...he’s just kidding around. “Aren’t you Gar?”
“Hey! I am not…. “ He didn’t finish his next retort causing Seven to break in with his mild mannered tone in a well timed way making M'gann wonder if he did that on purpose or just happenstance. If it was the former then it told the young Martian that the clone was coming a long way with social interactions and knowing how to deal with them. It always managed to surprise M'gann how quickly he learned and adapted.
"...Without additional information I cannot answer for myself." Seven said.
"Believe me, 'no' is the best answer. " M'gann replied knowingly arms crossed and looking away. She knew how Gar felt about Connor and that look he shot her matched with her ability to actually read the questioning 'what did you do?' made things difficult for M'gann at the moment. She already felt terrible for the whole Connor thing and blamed herself for it, it didn't help that her little brother felt it was her fault too. So instead the young Martian kept silent and decided to gaze out at the savannah; it was beautiful an d peaceful out here. She could understand why Gar liked to be here.
"It would appear though that M'gann would like a topic change. That happens a lot...."
The young Martian shot a look back at Seven and couldn't help then the crease of a smile seeping in at his comment of it happening a lot, though she did appreciate his timely topic changes. In some ways it was strange how well he understood her and her needs seeing as how he wasn't a telepath, but the young man seemed to know what she needed and adapt the situation for her. He didn't have to do that but he seemed to always do it anyways, like now as he diffused her earlier discomfort with Gar's question. Maybe it was his mimicry thing that made him sensitive to her reactions and then react accordingly, M'gann mused. Either way she appreciated what he was trying to do and smiled over at him appreciatively as he spoke to Gar. He also seemed to be coming a long way with the social interactions as he was able to turn Gar around to his side rather quickly.
"... Perhaps you could tell me more about yourself? You are a shifter, that much is clear. Shade of green is the same each time and matches M'gann. Yet she does not keep green all the time. Sorry, observations aren't needed and I will keep them to myself as best I can." Seven said causing M'gann to regain a little bit of her smile. She liked that he was trying and the improvement in his social skills kind of made M'gann feel proud of him, if that at all made sense. After all that was her goal; to get him acclimatized to human social interactions.
“… your strange…” Gar gave the clone another speculative look, then suddenly broke into a bright grin and m'gann had to chuckled at that comment because sometimes Seven did phrase things in an awkward way that was often more cute than anything else. Then her little brother decided to be well a 'little brother' as he tried to get her to blush in front of Seven again.
“.. she does that when she gets all shy and flustered you know! And then she gets angry… She’ll tell you to go to your room too soon! Even though miss clever-face! Clearly forgot there are no rooms around out here! But don’t worry, it’s just cus she liiiiikes you.”
It worked, she did but only for a fraction of a second as she took control of her shifting abilities to counteract the blushed tone with a more neutral colour. She then noticed Gar turn his head towards her with the same cheeky grin, sticking his tongue out at her. Though M'gann still detected that slight hint of disapproval from her brother regarding her reactions towards the new clone and the lingering unspoken question. '..what did you do to Connor?...'
That caused the smile that was returning earlier to falter into a slight twinge of pain and guilt but she quickly masked it with a more neutral repose as she turned to her little brother, refusing to react the same way she did earlier. True he caught her off guard and so allowed her emotions to dictate her reactions but M'gann never made the same mistake twice. She schooled her emotions now to an almost eerie calm, like her uncle; a neutral repose.
"Of course I like him Garfield, Seven's a friend." she answered with a neutral almost matter of fact calmness hiding the twinge of pain she felt from his accusation and the hint of guilt she felt.
Things moved on then to the discussions of mimics and Gar seemed excited once more which was a good thing. M'gann liked seeing her little brother bouncing around all energetic and full of life.
“You’re a mimic too? What does that actually mean? What do you do? You can’t change shape? Man… that sucks doesn’t it?! Is that why you’re traveling with my sister? To learn? And how come you havn't been here before? And how come your so weird?!…”
The flood of seemingly never ending questions that he’d brought down over M’gann earlier, now seemed directed at Seven instead. Gar's excitement and exuberance was infectious though and she couldn't help but start to chuckle at the endless questions he fired off at Seven.
"Gar, breathe." M'gann joked as she chuckled, he was so cute with his excitement. Of course she was only partially joking, he really did need to catch his breath from the spill of questions he unleashed in the span of a second. Then Seven blew Gar's mind with his own version of mimicry making Gars eyes bulge slightly and his grin widen, as seven copied his sentence from earlier.
Of course then Seven had to go and do the one thing that brought the pink back into her cheeks; he mimicked Gar's phrase.
"Are you dating my sister?" Seven mimicked
And M'gann wanted to face palm, only she didn't or well did it internally instead, but it seemed the little deflection worked as Gar was soon back to his excited self and not only that he was genuinely starting to warm up to Seven which was a good sign in M'gann's eyes. Still the whole 'dating my sister' was getting old fast. M'gann went silent again and simply looked anywhere but at them. It was an uncomfortable topic for the Martian, not just with Seven but with anyone. Thankfully that comment didn't elicit any further judgement from her brother instead it brought up excitement with a bit of mischief
“Sweeeeet! Can you do more than that?! Can you do M’ganns voice too?! Can You?! Tell her to go to her room!”He had clearly forgotten the mild disappointment that had filled him when he realized Connor was not the mentioned friend, it seemed to instead have given away to the excitement of meeting a new ‘superhero’, and he was practically bouncing on the spot, waiting to get his flood of questions answered.
M'gann's lips creased into a wily smile then as she eyed her little brother and just like that morphed into a replica of Gar bouncing around in the same excited fashion as the original Gar.
"Yeah, tell her to go to her room!" the little M'gann-Gar said an exact mimicry of her little brother voice shape and all, making it difficult to tell one from the other except for placement because the M'gann-Gar was standing where M'gann once was. Still it was fun sometimes to play around with one's powers.

Seven had seen this sort of mimicry before but actual shaping changing was well outside his range of abilities but what he could do was impressive none the less.
What he decided to do, was perhaps not, as visually stunning as compressing size and matter to take the form of others but his limited scope was extremely refined.
"Please close your eyes for a moment, both of you. If you would be so kind." Seven waited for them to comply before moving on to what he had planed.
He had now heard enough to duplicate Gar's voice perfectly in whatever sort of phrases he wanted, M'gann he could do after the first night they had met, hours of conversation had that effect.
First there was the matter of the topic of conversation and place, duplicating sounds of a busy street was fairly simple. The sounds of cars driving by, moving from left to right past them all, snips of conversation as people passed. Throwing his voice so that it appeared that it was all moving past their ears. Then for the fun part.
"Well Gar, it is such a lovely day. What should we do? The sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky! Perhaps a stroll in the park?" M'gann's cheerful and easy going tone was simple to do
"I dunno Sis, could we get ice cream? Ooh ooh lets go to the zoo! Bet they have never seen a green giraffe before!" The bouncing hyper tone of Garfied soon followed, almost like the pair were just walking past them.
"I'm not getting thrown out of the Zoo again, last time with the monkey riot was enough, thank you very much." That little hint of humour in M'gann's voice that tinged what she said sometimes was one of his favourite sounds.
"Hey! It's not my fault they started throwing poop at people and if they don't want them to get out the locks should be better!" A defensive tone from Gar this time as he defended himself before Seven drew his odd little demonstration to a close "So unfair if you ask me! I didn't do anything! Before you say it, you get to your room Sis!"
Seven tilted his head a little as he finished up "I am aware it is not as impressive as full shifting or animals, but I hope it at least amused." Mimicry is something that people don't really put much thought into, sure Seven could sound like anything and anyone and most people just saw it as a funny trick but when put into practice on a mission or assassination it allowed him to give all clears on radios, draw targets out by sounding like their allies and through passworded doors.
Seven could tell that M'gann was starting to feel a little awkward, body language was a second tongue to him. If anything it made more sense than actual words. With a smile to the female Martian he gave a slight nod before turning back to Garfield. "I am weird because I am actually a clone from Cadmus, your sister is being extremely kind and helping me learn about real life. She thought you might be able to help me. There is one issue with this however. To be able to teach me, you first have to defeat me. I should warn you. I am a highly trained and skilled being." With a playful grin Seven reached out and with a light touch booped the real Gar on the forehead with two fingers. "I believe the expression is: You are it."
With that said the clone turned and sprinted off. There was no slow start up, no building up to top speed like most runners. Seven was built for physical perfection. The peak of what a human could achieve and that little bit more. With a speed that an Olympic sprinter would cry in jealousy over. Seven made his way across the flats.

Gar blinked as his sister suddenly seemed to embrace the little game of mimicking, and the appearance of a ‘new Gar’ made him grin and bounce around, putting himself closer to the copy, and trying to pull faces as it, much like you’d do at a mirror. His attention to the ‘copy Gar’ was however short lived as Seven claimed his focus once more. He might have missed his sister, and a lot at that, but even that could not keep his curiosity from claiming the better of him. Gar knew nothing better than meeting a new superhero! And this one… this Seven… seemed to have a good few tricks up his sleeve. This was something Gar could appreciate.
"Please close your eyes for a moment, both of you. If you would be so kind." Gar did as instructed, or at least he did his very best at pretending he did. He couldn’t quite restrain himself from trying to peek out from under one eyelid, inspecting what Seven was up to.
"Well Gar, it is such a lovely day. What should we do? The sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky! Perhaps a stroll in the park?" It was M’ganns voice… even though it was coming from Sevens mouth. And where was all the other sounds coming from. Other people… cars… Gars eyes where wide open again, as he stared mesmerized at Seven.
"I dunno Sis, could we get ice cream? Ooh ooh lets go to the zoo! Bet they have never seen a green giraffe before!" The rather familiar hypertalk of Garfield himself joined the voice of M’gann, and an intire conversation seemed to grow up between the two. Even though all of the words, all of the sounds, where controlled by Seven alone.
"I'm not getting thrown out of the Zoo again, last time with the monkey riot was enough, thank you very much."
"Hey! It's not my fault they started throwing poop at people and if they don't want them to get out the locks should be better! - So unfair if you ask me! I didn't do anything! Before you say it, you get to your room Sis!"
For once, and this was no small feat, Gar was completely silent, though his expression was one of pure delight.
"I am aware it is not as impressive as full shifting or animals, but I hope it at least amused." Sevens own voice cut in again, replacing the voices of Gar and M’gann.
“That was amazing! Wow! Did you hear that sis! How did you do that?! I mean… the cars…and… all.. the other sounds! At once! That was so… so… SWEET!” Gar grinned impressed up at Seven and he was about to go into another rant session, though he stopped as it became evident that Seven was wanting to reply to another one of Gars ranted questions. "I am weird because I am actually a clone from Cadmus, your sister is being extremely kind and helping me learn about real life.”
“Its okay! I take it back! Your cool! Cadmus?! wow... but.. your a good guy right?…” Gar interjected in between Sevens words, still pretty impressed with the previous show of his abilities.
“She thought you might be able to help me. There is one issue with this however. To be able to teach me, you first have to defeat me. I should warn you. I am a highly trained and skilled being."
“Wait what… me?! Teach you?! Oh yeah! I can take you! Bring it!” Gar was already boucing around in boxer like state, his long simian tail whipping around behind him, in an attempt to make him look fiercer, while he punched holes in the air in front of him. Still grinning widely.
With a playful grin Seven reached out and with a light touch booped the real Gar on the forehead with two fingers. "I believe the expression is: You are it." And with those words… Seven where off…
Gar blinked as he realized what was happening, then his expression slowly turned into a wicked grin. His eyes gleaming mischievously. “… oh you’re so on….” He’d barely finished the sentence before his form started melting. “…we’ll be right back sis!” He threw the words out at M’gann, just as his morphing finished, into a sleek green furred body, with long streamlined legs and muscles optimized for speed. This was the natures version of a formel one car. Flesh and bone made aurodynamic and build for maximum acceleration. Seven might be fast. Inhumanly so… but…. he had nothing on natures finest speed machine… and with a challenging roar, the world’s fastest animal sped off after the running human. The green Cheetahs blurred form slowly eating away at the ground between them.

"Please close your eyes for a moment, both of you. If you would be so kind."
M'gann reverted to her original form before looking to Seven as if to question what he had in store but then smiled as she picked up on the intent and nodded closing her eyes as instructed. And then it started, the sounds and the voices. It was like being there and the Martian couldn't help but smile in that whimsical way of hers whenever she got lost in things.
"Well Gar, it is such a lovely day. What should we do? The sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky! Perhaps a stroll in the park?"It was M’ganns voice coming from Seven and she chuckled at the sound. It always amazed her how accurate he sounded when mimicking .
"I dunno Sis, could we get ice cream? Ooh ooh lets go to the zoo! Bet they have never seen a green giraffe before!"
The rather familiar hyperspeech that was Garfield joined in as entire conversation seemed to grow up between the two. All of the words, all of the sounds, where controlled by Seven alone. It was a feat in and of it self to do, not just with sound but the nuance of their voices, the cadence and pitch, the inflection, even the rhythm and behavior was pin point accurate.
"I'm not getting thrown out of the Zoo again, last time with the monkey riot was enough, thank you very much."
M'gann couldn't help but chuckle at her mimicked voice. He knew her so well.
"Hey! It's not my fault they started throwing poop at people and if they don't want them to get out the locks should be better! - So unfair if you ask me! I didn't do anything! Before you say it, you get to your room Sis!"
For once, and this was no small feat, Gar was completely silent, So M'gann was forced to peek just to see if her little brother was still with her and he was all mesmerized in awe little green form of his. Seven often said his ability wasn't much but M'gann thought he didn't give himself credit. It was amazing.
"I am aware it is not as impressive as full shifting or animals, but I hope it at least amused." Sevens own voice cut in again, replacing the voices of Gar and M’gann.
"It was beyond impressive Seven." M'gann smiled over at the clone. "You need to give yourself more credit."
“That was amazing! Wow! Did you hear that sis! How did you do that?! I mean… the cars…and… all.. the other sounds! At once! That was so… so… SWEET!”
M'gann chuckled again looking down at her brother, glad to see his over exuberant and smiling face. "Yes, I heard it. He *is* amazing." she cast the clone another small smile of appreciation. Just getting Gar to smile excitedly was worth it and she appreciated his attempts. She listened then as Seven explained his 'weirdness' to Gar.
“Its okay! I take it back! Your cool! Cadmus?! wow... but.. your a good guy right?…” Gar asked.
"Yes, he's a good guy. He's actually training with the Team." she answered her brother.
Still grinning widely and M'gann couldn't help but laugh again at her little brother and her friend. Seven was good with him and Gar needed someone like Seven around. His demeanor and temperament was a good for Gar.
With a smile to the female Martian he gave a slight nod before turning back to Garfield and with a playful grin Seven reached out and with a light touch booped the real Gar on the forehead with two fingers. "I believe the expression is: You are it."
And with those words Seven set off and the young Martian laughed as Gar blinked only to realize what just happened, then his expression slowly turned into a wicked grin. His eyes gleaming mischievously. M'gann knew that look and she smiled.
“… oh you’re so on….” Gar said and he’d barely finished the sentence before M'gann watched his form started melting into an animal form. “…we’ll be right back sis!”
He threw the words out at M’gann, just as his morphing finished, into a sleek green furred body, with long streamlined legs and muscles optimized for speed. The green Cheetahs blurred form slowly eating away at the ground between them.
"Are you kidding me? " The young Martian laughed as she took up the chase and ran up alongside her brother. There were only a few people faster than M'gann, Wally was one of them and she could keep up with Cassie and Conner so Gar's speed wasn't difficult for her to catch up to.
"I'm not gonna stay back and miss this." she said running up along side the green cheetah. "Go get him little brother. You got this." she said with a proud smile before she increased her speed and caught up to Seven.
::Thank you..for this.:: she said in his head as she caught up to him with an appreciative smile. She didn't think he would really understand what a great thing it was that he was doing for Gar and how his happiness was in turn reflected in her own. She wasn't sure he understood the importance for her but she hoped her private thanks would be a hint.
"But my brother is going to take you down." she said with bright pride and lighthearted laughter in her eyes. "And I'm going to watch him do it." she said like the proud sister that she was before she moved out of the way of the two and enjoyed the 'show'.

Seven had never expected to be able to out run various animals. Granted he didn't know many of them but it wasn't difficult to extrapolate the idea that there was faster things than him. That was not the plan however. Activities were used to bond with people, Family was clearly very important to M'gann and since she had been concerned about the time that passed Seven had decided to help out. With the questions about Seven and M'gann that he was sure neither of them really knew the answer to yet. He had also wanted a topic change.
As the four legged animal began to catch up and M'gann sped by giving her support to the younger Male Seven smirked softly. Timing was everything. With a hop and twist, followed by a thump thump as Seven used a tree to turn his momentum completely around and flipped over the oncoming cat. With another smirk Seven reach out and ran his fingers along the cheetahs head as he soared over Gar "I will not be defeated. Also. You are still it." As he landed Seven dashed forward quickly to put the animal in a head lock. While he might not be able to outrun the beast and had no real intent on harming the boy Seven decided that it might be a better idea to turn the game into a sort of sparring match.
"I have him now. Submit or face defeat." Cheesy bad guy dialogue was provided from any number of Bond villains, Seven enjoyed spy movies or anything of that sort of genre. He treated them a lot like how people treat horror films. Telling the characters on screen that they were making mistakes and were going to get caught or how he would have done that differently. "He shall never escape this. I shall keep him as my prisoner and ransom him back to the team. For." Seven gave a dramatic pause before raising his free hand up to place his pinkie on the edge of his lip "One Billion Dollars!" It wasn't often that Seven indulged playful behaviour, most of the time he didn't see much point in it but this was important to him. He was aware of the bond between family members. M'gann was his friend and so her family should be important to him also. From what he had read from Gar so far it seemed the boy was an aspiring hero in his own right, a little immature but apparently that was an age thing. So all that was required was time. Something Seven was beginning to feel he had some of.
Well aware he could probably choke the teenager out Seven didn't apply any pressure to the hold, it was after all for fun and part of a training exercise. Was so much easier to be playful if something was being taught the clone had found. For those that knew him, like M'gann, it was clear he wasn't engaged in any real combat. His eyes were clear and he had a smirk on his face. Garfield probably didn't know any of that but Seven hoped that at least the really bad movie style bad guy talk would be enough to convey it.
